Share Calendars without showing content
Hello you all,
Here in our family we have an iMac with two accounts (for my wife and for myself), my wife's iPad, my iPhone and my MacBook.
I'd like to share my calendar with my wife, so she can check if I'm available on her iPad or on her iMac-account. I already read that this is quite simple to manage through iCloud.com.
I'd just like to know if it is possible to show that I'm occupied, without my wife seeing what my appointment is. It isn't that I am up to no good, but working as an osteopath, my patients calendar has not to be seen by anyone, respecting my patients privacy.
So, if any of you knows wether this is possible and how to do it, please answer this topic!
Thank you very much !
Sincerely,
Hans
This isn't possible. You would have to create a duplicate calendar and enter the appointment times in there are well, without any other details, then share that.

Hello,
I would like to share my calendar with one of my office colleague, we are not using Microsoft Exchange Server, we are on Google business Apps Account.
My Share Calendar option is Grayed out (Plz. refer to attached image).
I will appreciate if some may inform the possibility to enable Share Calendar option ?
Thanks & regards
AliHi,
The Share Calendar option is only available for Exchange account. If you want to share calendar for a non-Exchange account, you'll need to publish it online. See:
https://support.office.com/en-ie/article/Share-an-Outlook-calendar-with-other-people-cafb9303-1b1e-40d3-839d-b6abac03a5e8
Since you are using Google Apps Account, you can try using Google Apps Sync for Microsoft Outlook. With this,
you can easily share calendars with other Google Apps users, both within your organization and publicly. People can view your calendar either in Outlook or from their Google Calendar account in a web browser. See:

Cannot share calendar in Outlook 2010
I am trying to share a calendar in outlook 2010 using an exchange account running on SBS2011
When I try to allow sharing it merely responds with cannot share calendar without any error codeHi,
First please let me know what steps you performed in Outlook 2010 to share the calendar.
Even though there's no error code, please let me know the exact error message so that I can start researching on this issue.
We can also try to share the calendar on OWA to check if there's any error message.

Share an iCal calendar without a third party application
After perusing the iCal discussion forum, it seems that the only way to "share" a calendar with another person (whether or not they have a MobileMe account) is to use Google Calendars or some other third party application. It seems like there would be a lot of users that want to "share" calendars and not just publish their calendars for others to see. The most common situation seems to be the sharing of a calendar with a spouse. Google makes this possible without charging a cent and you don't even have to dig to figure out how to do it. Naturally, because I love my Mac and the way all of my Apple programs interconnect, I want to avoid a third party solution. Is there a solution to this problem built into iCal (or maybe something to do with MobileMe) that I have simply overlooked? If not, how can we get Apple to include this feature in a future update of iCal?
Hi James!
I just spent the weekend setting this up for me and my wife. Unfortunately, you MUST use a 3rd party application. Like you have, I have spent the last month doing extremely refined Google searches in the hopes I would find the answer.
So, I migrated our calendars to Google and this seems to be working well. Synchronization is not as instantaneous as MM but every 5 minutes is not that bad.
Send Apple feedback on this issue at: http://www.apple.com/feedback/ical.html
Apple's main feedback site is here: http://www.apple.com/feedback/
I've sent several notes to them. I am hoping that Snow Leopard will fix this! -
How to share an icloud calendar without sharing local calendars
I have created an icloud calendar for family use. I want us to be able to view/edit it in the Calendar app on our macs and on our ios devices. But we don't want our local (business and school) calendars uploaded to icloud. Only one of us have upgraded to Yosemite, and none of us to ios8, as we don't like the new interface. We are therefore mostly using ios7 and Mavericks, though one is using 10.6 still and another is a google phone user. Notwithstanding the last two oddities, it seems to be impossible to find a solution, even without the Calendar integration.
Does anybody have a solution for this no doubt common situation?Hi Bill,
Referencing iCloud: Calendar sharing overview
If the other shares their iCloud calendar as public, you can add it to your Calendar without using iCloud, but you can only view it, no edits.
So here the answer is Yes.
Public calendars can be shared with anyone. To access public calendars, visitors need to use Calendar (or iCal with OS X v10.7.5) on a Mac, Microsoft Outlook on a Windows computer, or any other app that supports the iCalendar file format.
A public calendar can’t be edited by anyone but the calendar owner (the creator).
If you need to be able to edit the Calendar, then you need to have iCloud Calendar enabled.
Private calendars can be shared with other iCloud users.
As the owner (creator) of a shared calendar, you assign edit privileges to the invitees to control who can modify the calendar.
You stated earlier, "When you configure the connection to iCloud you only have the option to merge all your calendars into one on iCloud."
That is not what happened for me. Each local calendar got "merged" with the same calendar on iCloud but each stayed separate. If some of the local calendars didn't exist on iCloud, then they were duplicated on iCloud. So for example, Home and Work local calendars became Home and Work iCloud calendars.
iCloud: Using iCloud Calendars with Calendar and iCal - Apple Support
If you have local calendars, they are merged with iCloud when you set up iCloud Calendar.
That doesn't say they are merged into one big calendar.
The calendars created in iCloud are not shared by default. You need to manually share the ones you want to share. So to view someone else's shared calendar, you do not need to share your own.
iCloud: Share a calendar with others
If when setting up iCloud calendars you get calendars on iCloud you do not want there, you can delete them from iCloud.
iCloud: Delete a calendar
Hope that helps. If not, please contact support for help clearing this up.
Take care,

THERE IS A PROBLEM IN OPENING ANY FILE. WHEN OPENING - A RAPID SUCCESSION OF FILES OPEN, ONE ATOP THE NEXT, WITHOUT SHOWING FILE'S CONTENT. THIS CONTINUES FOR QUITE A WHILE. I MUST TURN OFF COMPUTER. IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO CHOOSE ANY OTHER FUNCTION WHILE THIS IS HAPPENING, IE : WHEN OPENING A FILE. AS IN , I CANNOT OPEN GOOGLE OR MAIL, ETC. AND THE FILES KEEP OPENING AS UNTITLED. Can I have personal calendars block time in my ical without sharing contents with others?
Can I have personal calendars block time in my ical without sharing contents with others?
The calendar attendant is enabled so meeting requests are handled automatically based availability without needing a human delegate to deal with them.
Try disabling it and test. ( Maybe test against another dummy account first).
Letting users place appt directly on a calendar is never recommended, but it could be the calendar attendant is trying to do its thing as well.

I have a group of roughly 15 people with whom I am constantly sending events and then having to send updates and cancelations. I am wondering that the easiest way would be to share a calendar so that I can update events, create new ones, cancel, etc... without having ot constantly send out e-mails. any thoughts?
AndrewHi rewyance2k,
If you have an iCloud account, you can create and share calendars.
The articles below will show you how:
Click on the link below to see more details and screenshots.
I've quoted some helpful highlights for you:
iCloud: Share a calendar with others
You can share a calendar both publicly and privately with other people. Sharing gives you flexibility in managing calendars. For example, you could create a calendar for your child’s sports team and share it privately with just the coaches so they can edit it. You could also share it publicly with all the parents so they can view (but not change) it whenever they want. For specifics about viewing and editing privileges for shared calendars, and how participants can access the calendars, see Calendar sharing overview.
iCloud: Calendar sharing overview
Sharing works as follows:
Public calendars can be shared with anyone. To access public calendars, visitors need to use Calendar (or iCal with OS X v10.7.5) on a Mac, Microsoft Outlook on a Windows computer, or any other app that supports the iCalendar file format.A public calendar can’t be edited by anyone but the calendar owner (the creator).
Private calendars can be shared with other iCloud users.Participants can view the calendar using iCloud Calendar, Calendar (or iCal with OS X v10.7.5) on a Mac, Microsoft Outlook on a Windows computer, or the Calendar app on iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. As the owner (creator) of a shared calendar, you assign edit privileges to the invitees to control who can modify the calendar. There are two types of access privileges that can be assigned:
View Only access:Participants with View Only access can:
View the calendar and change their view (from day to week, for example), without affecting the view of other participants
Change their own calendar preferences
View & Edit access:Participants with View & Edit access privileges can do everything listed above, plus:
Create and delete calendar events
Change details (for example, the name, date, and time) for calendar events
Track the responses of guests invited to a calendar event
No participant, regardless of the access privileges assigned, can invite new people to a shared calendar.
Note: If multiple participants try to edit a shared calendar at the same time, the changes that are saved first are kept and reflected in the calendar. The person whose changes arenʼt saved sees a message that his or her changes werenʼt saved.
If you disable your iCloud account, any shared calendars you created become unavailable; all participants automatically receive an email notifying them that the calendar is no longer shared.
You create Groups for email at www.icloud.com as well. Once created, they will appear organized on your iPhone.
Click on the link to the article below to see more details and screenshots.
I've quoted some helpful highlights for you:
iCloud: Create a group and add contacts to it
I hope this information helps ....
Have a great day!

I am trying to share calendars with my husband (using Google calendars). He can see my calendars, but I am having trouble seeing his. We both use iPhones. We both have company email addresses. I have had to install and uninstall my gmail info on my iPhone multiple times due to errors sending and receiving emails from my company email address on my phone. For some reason, all of my emails are getting stuck in my outbox when my gmail account is installed on my phone. When I delete it, my emails get sent automatically. This is really annoying! I would do without the gmail account, but I need to share calendars with my husband. How do I fix this?
If you have two-step verification turned on in your email account, you'll have to log in with a browser and turn it off.

Can I share calendars on a work and personal device, with different iCloud user names?
I'm relatively new to my work iPhone, and very new to my iPad. I've been entering events in the iCloud calendar, which is linked to the iPad under a personal Apple id and password.
My work iPhone, which (currently) has a different Apple id and password, set up when work provided it, syncs with Outlook on my work laptop using an App called Mobile Iron. I have very little control or knowledge of this, although it works just fine.
It woiuld be useful to have any events I set up dumped into the same calendar, viewable both on my personal iPad and my work iPhone, but I dare not do anything to interfere with what my company IT has set up. Any recommednded strategies? You can try sharing your iCloud calendar with yourself as explained here: http://help.apple.com/icloud/#mm6b1a8694. If you work phone has an iCloud account, you can privately share your calendar with it, giving your read and write access. If it doesn't, you can publically share it, giving you read-only access. This should give you the ability to view the shared calendar alongside your work calendar without merging the two.

ICloud Calendars not showing up in iCal
Hi!
My iCloud calendars and subsicriptions are not showing up in my iCal Calendar on my Mac. They all appear on the left hand side under the Calendars tab and they are all ticked but only one or two appear in the month to month view. I have tired refreshing them all, I have tired un-syncing and re-syncing from iCloud but this has no effect. The calendars show up fine on my phone and on iCloud though. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!Note for shared calendars (and this kind of stuff should be MUCH MORE "up front" when you do the switch over Apple!) so you can see them again
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4918
If you share calendars they will be affected as follows when you move to iCloud:
Privately shared calendars (such as a family calendar):
If you share calendar(s) with one or more MobileMe members, sharing settings will be preserved when moving, but the people you are sharing with must also move to iCloud in order to see your shared calendar(s).
If someone is sharing a calendar with you, and you move to iCloud, you will no longer be able to see that calendar until the person who is sharing the calendar with you also moves to iCloud.
Publicly shared calendars (such as a soccer team schedule)
If you are sharing a calendar publicly, it will be unpublished as part of your move to iCloud. You will need to share your calendar again after moving to iCloud

Shared Office 365 calendars not showing up in iCal
We are using Microsoft's Office 365 and have users with a variety of devices and applications (Mac/iCal/Mail, Windows/Outlook, iPhone, Android, etc.).
I am the administrator of the Exchange accounts. I have created four calendars that are viewable by everyone within our organization (just general "company-wide calendars").
Users with Outlook are able to view those shared calendars just fine. However, I'm not able to add the shared calendars with users using iCal.
If I add them as a delegate, they can see all my calendars, but if I just share the calendar, they get a "no access" error.
Here's where I'm setting the shared calendar permissions. I've tried setting them as Reviewer, setting the Default as Reviewer, and setting them as Owner.
Because it works fine in Outlook, I'm wondering if it's an iCal problem. For cross-referencing purposes, here's my issue at Office 365's community: Shared calendars not showing up in Apple iCalHi All, after much trial and tribulation, this works for me on BusyCal. It is an app you can get on the apple store.
Calendar should be created then shared with the busycal user. The link does not work, but add exchange account as you would on Mac Calendar under preference>accounts. The go to the sharing tab and click plus and type in email of person who shared calendar. It will auto populate. For some reason it does not work under delegation in Mac Calendar
The key and where I spent 4 days on the phone with apple and office 365, is that the owner of the calendar has to share their calendar, named :"calendar" They can just click the permission "show availability only." Once they do that, any other calendars they have created and added you as full permissions or details, you can see. I see nothing on their calendar called "calendar" Not the perfect solution, but it works. BusyCal is $30
If this does not make sense feel free to message me or I will respond here. -
Is there a way to prevent children from changing or deleting Family Share calendar events?
We recently set up Family Share. My wife and I have been sharing a calendar to coordinate our efforts keeping up with all the activities the family is involved in. We recently started to migrate some of our shared events to the Family Share calendar, only for our daughter to delete them, almost immediately. I've spoken with her about how the whole family uses this calendar, and that she shouldn't delete them, but I'd rather ensure that she can't, on accident, delete or change events again.
I'm not sure you are sharing the calendar like this, so apologies if it is not appropriate…
iCloud has the option of sharing public & private calendars. Private ones are read+write, Public ones are read only. Public calendars are publicly accessible if someone guesses the URL.
You could share the calendar with her as a read only one if you were happy with it being public.
Dig into the settings in the place you setup the calendar. I looked on iCloud.com for the standard options.
Another option is to use another service to publish the calendar like Google, another email provider or another company like fruux.com. They may have better permissions for the shared calendar without opening it up to the entire internet to view. -
I have been using Bridge/Photoshop without any incident. But recently when I open Bridge it takes too long to show content and If I double click on a folder or photo It freezes showing in the bar above - not responding. After some seconds it goes back to life. I have not installed any software. I have the program installed in the C Hard Drive, the Photos and the Cache in different Hard Drives with plenty of space (WD - Black Series). I have also checked the hard drives just in case but are OK. Any guess???? Thank you
A month ago I uninstalled AVG Internet security from my computer making it a lot less potent to BSODs in general, (can't reacall having any.) So today I thought I'd try to learn some more Audition. I could Sit with it for a good while just playing around with recordings and settings and my system didn't react weirdly at all. So the next step was of course to try and load some of the Udemy lectures I had waiting.
As the video was buffering I turned away from the computer for a while, but when I came back it had completely froze up again... I don't think I've ever had a BSOD in this context either, instead of going into BSOD the computer just stops responding completely.
(I'm using the latest version of Flash, tried with both Firefox and Chrome.)
I'm thinking this is a very niche bug and I can't seem to se that it can be anything but a conflict with Flash. Weither it's a memory leek or what ever it is.
I can use Audition fine on my computer it seems, as long as I never start a browser in risk of loading a Flash application, (which would be fine if I was avid, but I need some lectures to get started.)
Nothing really seems to be overloaded (RAM/CPU) before the freeze ocurs either.
I don't really know where or how to adress this to the Flash Player forum/community, (or if there is one.)
Thanks.
