Share destinations in FCP X 10.1?

Hi there,
I recently updated to FCP X 10.1.  I have finished a rough cut of a project for a client, and I want to share the file for review.  I exported the file, but can't find it on my system.  The folder that shared items used to be found in is no longer there due to the update.
Where are exported projects stored?
Thanks!

I have not added that Destination, nor ever used it.  However, anything you Share should be seen in the Package of the Library where the event and now project reside.  Control-click on that Library, and choose Show Package Contents, then find this particular Event folder, and then within a folder named Shared.  In that folder you can find the name of the file you shared, and then with Spotlight find where the shared copy resides.  One place could well be in the Movies folder of your User folder.

  • Share destinations no longer working

I'm not exactly sure what changed, but my share destination presets are no longer working. I can access the share drop down menu and highlight my destination preset choice by mousing over, but when I try to click on the preset, nothing happens -- the click doesn't register at all. I get the same result when I try to share via the file menu. I can send to Compressor though, where the same presets work, so it's got to be something specific to sharing in FCP. I ran permissions to see if it would fix any errors, but that did nothing.  Any thoughts?

Sorry if I am pointing out the obvious, but:
    1) Are you sure the timeline has focus (and not the browser or viewer)
    2) Are there some clips in your projects that are still referencing media in a camera or card? These would prevent you from exporting.

  • Issue With The New "Share" Feature In FCP 7

I have had some success creating Blu-ray disks using the "Share" feature in FCP 7.
When trying to create and burn another project, I went to Share, let go of the mouse and nothing happens. I've tried the other projects that I've done--and nothing happens. Apple tech support suggested reinstalling the FCP software which I did. Still nothing. Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

Can't say for sure but based on Compressor's settings I say that "Fast" is a single pass process with maybe a constant bit rate (algorith just crams the data together as it goes ... get what you get and don't get upset), where as the "Better Quality" will be a two pass process ( analyse the video for motion, color etc first, then compress) with a variable bit rate ( less compression where there is more movement, more compression when the image is static ). It  produces a better result at a much slower processing speed.

To play on DVD Players, it has to be MPEG2.
It's under 2 hours; I'm surprised it won't fit. If not, get Compressor and lower the bit rate to fit.
The native resolution was 980X720…you mean 960?
It will all be resized to 720X480, which is DVD standard.

  • Is anyone have a problem with share function in FCP?

  • How do you share non-networked FCP project?

    Hello
I searched and couldn't find a discussion on this; so, sorry if there is one.
I recently completed loading multiple clips into an FCP7 project.  A concert.  All synced and set up for multi-cam edit.  I copied the project file, the source files and exact FCP file structure to a GTECH mini drive - 7200RPM -- and gave it to some students to edit.  The project opened fine and they are at work.
I am several hundred miles from the students, however.  Normally, when working with associates that live nearby, they just give me back the GTECH drive, and I can check the in-progress work easily.  For this situation, I was going to have the students email me back the FCP Project icon only; since I have the same exact file structure on an external hard drive, I thought this would work since they are not doing rendering, just edit cuts.  The FCP project icon will point to the same files the students use; same locations etc...
My questions are: 1) Will FCP multi-cam edit cuts produce cache files that I need?  Or any other files?  Just trying to minimize what they send via email.  2) Is there a better way to share an FCP project with another remote user?
    Thanks
    Phil

If the drive you are using has the same name and file structure as the drive they are using you won't have to do anything, should open right up (except for render files of course). This is the best way.

  • Share destination tab is empty after update version installed

    hi,
Yesterday i updated my FCP X to 10.1.1 and since i lost my sharing options please help

With Final Cut closed, trash preferences with this app.
    If that doesn't solve it…
Close Final Cut Pro. In the Finder, hold down the option key to let you choose the Home Library from the drop down. Go to Applications Support>Final Cut Pro. Open the folder and drag Layouts folder to trash.

  • FCP 7 "Share to blu-ray" burn issue.

This may not actually be a FCP issue, but possibly some of you here are experienced in the matter.
Firstly, my video is 1080/24p ProRes.
This is my first jump into Blu-ray, and I'm quickly learning the many work-arounds, but have run in to a problem.
Initially I tried exporting a QuickTime with "current settings", and dropping it in toast and encoding/burning.
Video looked pretty good, but it was choppy. Google tells me this seems to be a common issue with toast and 24p.
Most suggest encoding with Compressor and then burning with Toast.
Tried that, but I couldn't get it to just encode the files and that be all. It kept asking for a blu-ray disc and ejecting the drive, as if Compressor was going to burn it?
When I would choose "cancel burn", my only option, the whole batch would fail. After all that encoding time...
Wasn't too depressed, because after digging more, Google also told me that many believe the h264 encode using the "share" function in FCP produces better results. Though the options are non-existent, it did great. My only complaint is you are forced to convert audio to .ac3. Well that *****.
So I went ahead and exported all the audio from IN and OUT markers as .aiff.
This is where my problem arrives..
I threw the h264 and aiff in Toast, chose "never re-encode", and it burnt fine.
Video looks great, no stuttering. But the AUDIO! It slows drifts out of sync...
Video is an hour long, and at about 20 minutes in, it's 1-2 seconds behind, and goes from there.
    Why would that be?
    Any experience with this?
I checked, and the ac3 that FCP made, and the aiff are the EXACT same length.
Any thoughts? Or any other work-around for keeping audio lossless?
    Thanks!

    Thanks for the reply, Johnny.
I wasn't saying AC3 s*u*c*k*s. And really.. Why is that word censored? I didn't do that.
I was saying it ***** that you ONLY have the option of AC3 with the "Share to blu-ray" feature.
And yea, I'm sure I would never know the differene, and especially not my grandparents with their home movies.
But it just seems d*u*m*b (can I say that?) to be going through all this trouble for a "lossless" lineage, ie. HD camera, FCP, Blu-ray burner/player, and have to compress the audio. Isn't that one of the main advantages of blu-ray?! Quality? Wether we can detect it or not?! Ha!. Okay..
I thought an easy workaround would be to export the audio to AIFF and drop it in.
No idea why it's drifting....but yes, in the end i may settle.
Though I'll feel cheated! Guess that's what I get for loving BOTH Apple and Blu-ray....
If anyone has other processes of getting good 24p to Blu-ray, please share!
    Thanks again.

  • ALRIGHT, FCP- Share- AVCHD officially HANGS!! NOOOOO

so i exported 30 minutes of hdv 1080i60 and 8 hours later the status is stuck at encoding the video file and it just sits at 8 minutes left of encoding after 2 hours. Again, 8 hours later, it says 2 hours elapsed. no burned dvd. it was a menu, and just had one my psd's as the graphic...thats it. i got snow leopard, fcs3, all up to date, 3 gigs of ram, all media is on a lacie 7200 drive with plenty of space. i have tried diff blank dvds....all of which were dvd-r.
now the million dollar question....WHAT IS THE PROBLEM!

First, do not put the disc in the drive before you begin the process. Wait to be instructed to insert the disc. Second, it might help a lot if you had far fewer applications open.
Try exporting to QuickTime Movie and using Compressor to create a batch template. In job actions for the batch you can add your background and logo just like the Share function in FCP.

  • I keep getting this error message when trying any of the SHARE functions.

I seem to get the following message whenever I select any of the share destinations for my project.  I am wanting to upload my finished project to youtube, bit I don't know what this error code meand or how to correct it.  Help!
The operation could not be completed because an error occurred when creating frame 867 (error -1).
I am keen you upload this 2 min. film ASAP, but of course I can't due to this error and not knowing how to fix it.  This error appears soon after it attempts the share process.  All help gladly appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your great suggestions.    I have tried all that you suggested, but no joy.  But what did the trick was actually dropping the format from 1080 to 720.  Then doing a master file.  Quitting and restarting FCP and flicking the project back  to 1080p and sharing it again.  Low and behold it worked and not an error message was seen.  That is some kind of bug.  So I am sorted and can now export the 1080p project in 1080p or whatever.  I have no idea what went on, but it is now working.  I hope my fluke of a tip helps someone who is at their wits end like I was.  LOL  Thanks again for your replies.

  • How do I share to a Facebook page (that I manage)?

    Hi there,
Is there a way to SHARE / export directly to a Facebook page that I manage?
I'm currently having to export a master file (which isn't optimised for Facebook/web), and then upload it to one of the many FB Pages I manage. Would be great if FCPX would allow us to add multiple Share/Export Destinations that include the Pages we manage.
If this feature is already in place, please help me out, because I can't find it!
    Cheers,
    James

    Hi CaptainGoodThrust,
It sounds like what you want is in the File > Share menu, or the Share pop-up menu.
Final Cut Pro X: Sharing projects overview
Final Cut Pro provides a variety of destinations, or preconfigured export settings, that you can use to output your project or clip. For example, you can export a project or clip as a QuickTime movie, export it for viewing on Apple devices such as iPhone and iPad, publish it to websites such as Facebook and YouTube, or burn it to a disc. You can also save a frame from your movie or export an image sequence. Each of these options uses a different destination.
When you first open Final Cut Pro, a default set of destinations appears in the Share submenu of the File menu and in the Share pop-up menu.
It goes on to say the destinations are customizable.
You can easily add destinations or replace the default set of destinations with your own customized destinations. For example, if you want to save a frame from your movie as a Photoshop file, you need to add the Save Current Frame destination to your set and specify that the destination export a Photoshop file. You create and modify destinations in the Destinations pane of Final Cut Pro preferences.
You can also create a bundle of destinations to export several types of output at once. For more information, see Create and modify share destinations.
The default destination is Master File. You can quickly share to that destination by pressing Command-E. To change which destination is the default (and will be activated by that keyboard shortcut), see Create and modify share destinations.
To further customize your output, you can use Compressor, the professional transcoding application. For more information, see Export your project using Compressor.
Start SiteCatalyst code version: H.8. End SiteCatalyst code version: H.8.
    Hope that helps,
    Nubz

  • Share FCPX with Blu-ray  USB3 LaCie writer boot error

    Hi
I've been around the bush and back looking at how to burn a blu-ray movie to a disc from FCPX and a slim Blu-ray LaCie drive.  I was able to burn a 5 minute movie from FCPX without any trouble but as soon as I try and burn something larger (like an 11gig movie) 1080 HD I get up in the morning to find an error referring to boot directory or something with a boot in it. Sorry can't be more secific than that.  It's costing me everytime it goes wrong.
I logged a job with LaCie and they said any disc is compaitble so i'm wondering whether there is an issue with Final Cut Pro X ?  Thank you for any assistance.
    Mike

OK, I have FCPX. I burned DVDs etc all fine. I then burn a Blu-ray.  Initially I tried to save to hard drive and burn from there but that didn't work.  Seeing FCPX can burn directly to optical device (LaCie) I tried that (share menu in FCP) I got a boot error message that I didn't take a note of.  Today I tried again after I checked a few things out.  I put in my BD-R disc into the device.  FCPX says it is "finishing create blu-ray disc: burning Blu-ray"
at 85% it then said Insert Disc, i did this and it is hanging.
I have been able to burn a 5 mintue Blu-ray sucessfully but as soon as I get to a 55 minute movie I have been unsuccessful.  Layers are automatic.  speed is automatic, it's a brand new mac running OS X 10.8.2    The guy I bought the discs from reccomends Roxio but why should I buy new software when FCPX says it burns.

  • PCF Studio Pro Share Function

The "share" function on FCP Studio Pro is wonderful... with one exception. The first DVD burn completed jus fine and is automatically ejected. The popup window asks if you would like to do another burn. When I check "yes" - it then asks to insert a blank DVD. All is fine. Then when the burn is 99% complete... things hang up. The DVD spins in the drive and will not stop. The only way I can eject the DVD is to reboot the computer. When viewing that DVD... everything is fine except for the last few frames of video which freeze. May this be a drive problem... a software problem... or something at the end of the timeline that is causing this problem? Thanks for anyone who has a fix.

My 2 cents: I HATE the share concept. Just the name itself gives me the willies. you've got no control, no repeatability unless you then make a disk image, kind of negating the quickie concept-- I could go on and on. If you compress in compressor then author in dvdsp, you've got a rock solid, REPEATABLE product.
