Share favorite places or googleearth placemarks wi...

Hi,
I have a E55 and think ovi maps is really very good for navigating around. However I have one "problem":
In maps there are favorites which help to define places you can navigate to. However I also have placemarks in google earth and would like to "copy" some of them as a favorite to ovi maps. How can this be done? By the way I run linux on my PC so I cannot install ovi maps on my desktop and so I do not know if this windows app could do the job.
Another question is, how can I tell a friend eg by sending a SMS "let us meet at this place". So what I would like to do is again exchange the data of a favorite place via email or SMS so that a friend can simply click on the received SMS and then can navigate using ovi maps to this place I sent to him?
Any ideas?

Thanks for the info. Firefox runs perfectly on Linux, its my default browser.
However it seems Nokia coded something Windows OS dependent into the firefox plugin. When I login to OVI maps using firefox then I am told that the OVI maps plugin is not compatible with this browser (firefox 3.5.9 on i586). Bad, wish nokia could soon write a compatible plugin...
Is there a way to to tell my friend (to stay in the picture described abobe) where to meet just using the mobile phone?

How can I save a website as a favorite place under more than one file folder? I think I used to have this ability, now it'll only save it in one place.

What this does for me is allow me to find rarely accessed websites by looking under different kinds of categories of favorite places. If I'm restricted to only one location for the data it makes it harder to find.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give. It may still be possible to do this, and I just don't know how. In the past, if I created a new file folder and saved a webpage to the new folder, it would persist even after I saved it a 2nd time to a different folder. Now, if I save it to a 2nd folder, it will disappear from the 1st folder.

You can do a Copy & Paste in the Bookmarks Manager (Shift+Ctrl+B) to create a copy of a bookmark. 
You can also drag the website's favicon on the left end of the location bar to a folder into the Bookmarks menu drop down list or to a folder in the Bookmarks side bar (Ctrl+B) or onto the Bookmarks Toolbar. 
In the side bar you need to click to the left of the icon to prevent Firefox from opening the bookmark.

MOVED FROM AOL ON MY PC TO AOL ON MY MAC. I CAN'T FIND MY FAVORITE PLACES

For some reason when I open up my favorite places , none of my favorite place are there, they are all gone. I have them all when I sign on to aol on a pc but when I sign on to aol on my mac my favorite places is not there. Can anyone help?

Use Safari instead. You can import all your favorite places using this wonderful tool from AOL:

I used this to help my Dad move from AOL on a PC to a Mac.

Now, PLEASE if anyone knows how, my Dad is REALLY struggling with this:
He used to compose an e-mail on Windows AOL and he could "insert a favorite place" right into his e-mail. He used this feature constantly.
Now that I have moved him over to a Mac, he doesn't have that option. Really, when you "insert a favorite place", AOL is just putting a link in the HTML e-mail.
Currently, he has to drag his "favorites" (bookmarks) from Safari into Mac Mail, and this is just killing him.
I have tried to use Leopard's new stationary to accomplish this, but have not yet succeeded.
Does anyone have any idea for him?

Parent Disk - File Share - VM Placement

Hi, I did some testing with Cluster and File Share (with Parent Disk). I figured that the Parent Disk will be placed on the File Share a not on the Cluster Shared Volume.
I'm now trying to do it with hosts who are not clustered.
I went to the Fabic in VMM and added a provider (my file share server). I then created a Share on this server using the VMM Wizard.
I added the File Share to my host in the Properties/Storage and double-checked the Placement Paths.
In the "Default virtual machine paths to be used during virtual machine placement," I have all my local storage (e:\vms, f:\vms, g:\vms, h:\vms, ...)
In the "Default parent disk paths to be used for the virtual machines," I have my \\server.domain\share
When I create a new VM from a Template with "Differencing disk," the Wizard is creating the VM on the \\server.domain\share instead then on a "placement path" from my local storage...
Furthermore, the parent VHD is being copied on the first "local" drive, E:\vms\...
1- How to set the path for the Parent disks... I want to force all parent disks to be on the file share.
2- How can I set so VMM never create VMs on the File Share! Only on the local paths?

FYI, differencing disks are not supported for Production environments, the only possible usage would be for a VDI setup.

I copied the favorites file from my aol account to a flash drive. However when I try to import to Firefox it only looks for html files.

You will need to concert the pfc file to HTML format, you can do that by using this site - http://www.linkagogo.net/go/Convert?informat=aol&outformat=netscape

Care 2 share favorite audio editing tips (think Aphex, Squarepusher, B.T.)?

Anyone here do tons of constructive/destructive audio editing in Logic? I am determined to kick my Pro Tools habit and embrace Logic's audio mangling capabilities once and for all!
Any tips or shortcuts you can't live without would be much appreciated (especially from Pro Tools users who have learned to adapt without having 'tab to transients', 'Grid mode', etc.).

Between your posts today I'd say the effects you want can be created pretty quickly with strip silence, divide multiple, AU hosting batch processor, EXS24. Kontakt is actually pretty quick at this becase it's got a built in ReCycler, then you can just throw the pitches and loops in whichever direction you want, just set the polyphony low (often mono) for alot of this. Logic doesn't really handle file based effects (then it was easy-like PT's AudioSuite). Lowering the Tempo in 2 and then recording, chopping and then flipping the tempo up is also good, set regions to auto xfade like 5ms. Alot can be done in the arrange, yes but the samplers should not be overlooked. Basically sound like you're going through 30 different sounds all at one as 1 instrument. I have set up templates with FX where sounds basically "reproduce", this is really easy in Logic. Record or setup sounds by some timebase, scribble some automation in for a few plugs, bounce, divide multiple, send through batch processor, load into sampler, it may not sound like much but you can make hundreds of unique sounds in a few minutes. All you have to do after that is listen and choose. But obviously you don't want to stop there so you can start drawing (honestly, I think the Matrix is where I'd do the arranging/sequencing-just load up a few samplers but for processing/chopping arrange is really fast). I even do this with guitar tracks. With your sample regions now in place you can just change the pitch on the sampler and set the loop values to musical and nonmusical values easily. The arrange is fine for placing but when you get into all the effecting it's handled better by a sampler, IMO. Logic can make easy work of the effecting, dicing, and sequencing. Export regions as audio files, and open in external sampe editor, EXS mapping 128 notes at once. ReCycle. Kontakt has alot of the stuff you want-it could replace ReCyle and EXS24, and it's got the script processor.

Hi LabVIEW Users.
LabVIEW Can print front panel. But it there is option for "All front panel" or "visible area of front panel".
One of our customer is requesting it is very convenient if user can select the area of interest and print the area.
What do you think?

[solved] dolphin file manager losing all custom places entries

Hi all,
I am getting phantom problem with dolphin file manager, i added custom place entries there but suddenly they diappear from dolphin.
There is no any pattern in disappearance. They appear for few days without any problem, even after shutdown/reboot. But suddenly some day they disappear and i have to add them again.
I want to find cause of this problem then fix it.
Or at least find config file where dolphin store configuration about custom places that i can backup and restore to get back entries.
I checked ~/.kde4/share/config/dolphinrc but couldn't find there anything about custom places.
I am using KDE 4.14.5 and Dolphin 14.11.97

dolphin stores the configuration of the custom places in ~/.local/share/user-places.xbel.
The problem you described has already been reported upstream: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=343735

How to I get fav places and spell chick working after software upgrade? so far nothing on help has worked

I have not been able to retreive favorite places or get the spell check working since last upgrade of firefox, Tried all the suggested fixes so far. None work.

[SOLVED] KDE 4.6 can't create user-places.xbel file

Lately I have been having an issue when I log in to KDE 4.6 for the first time on a user account. A window pops up with the following error:
"Unable to save bookmarks in /home/troy/.local/share//user-places.xbel. Reported error was: Insufficient permissions in target directory.. This error message will only be shown once. The cause of the error needs to be fixed as quickly as possible, which is most likely a full hard drive."
The drive has over 14GB of free space so the suggestion of a full drive seems unlikely.
The permissions of the directories are:
~/.local 700 (drwx------)
~/.local/share 700 (drwx------)
I am listed as the owner of the directories so it would seem that I have appropriate permissions.
When KDE finishes its startup, I can verify that user-places.xbel does not exist. However, when I log off, the files does get created and all seems well. I have discovered that if I create ~/.local/share (with the same permissions) before logging on, then the file gets created and the error never pops up.
So, does anyone have any idea why I would be getting this error and how I could make it stop?

Perfect, I figured it must be something like that. My next test will be without bluedevil to see if the error goes away. Thanks for the assist.

Where does the Share button take my document?!

I scanned a private document on my printer using the iPad app Printercontrol, I wanted to email the document to myself so I went to the Files menu, selected the scanned document and instead of pressing the arrow(share) icon, I pressed the Share button instead. Now, I don't know where the document has been "shared" to. Where exactly does it go? I don't see any settings as to where a document would be shared, whether on social media networks I have accounts to or a location within my network.

I see you are using the PrinterControl app and performed a scan. I am guessing you pressed the "Share" button in the bottom left of the screen when attempting to share to your email. I just tested this option and this button does not send the document anywhere. It only shares the file outside of the printer control app to the device's gallery itself. You have to use the button in the top right to share to places such as social networks and email.

"Favorites" in Maps and Drive+

Using Nokia 920: As if it is not bad enough that Maps and Drive+ are two separate apps, even though they are sharing the same map files (thank God!), I am wondering why they are also not sharing the same set of Favorites? If I have added a favorite to Drive+ since I drive there frequently, and then find myself needing to take public transportation or walk to the same place, why do I need to search & find that place AGAIN in Maps?? And, vice versa: If I added a favorite in Maps, why can I not use it directly in Drive+ as opposed to using Maps to get directions and have it dump me into Drive+? Just convoluted user interface...

I have the same question. It's CRAZY that Favorite places and Collections aren't shared between these two apps. (In fact, it's also not clear why they're not combined into a single app.)
