Share file to web site

I'm trying to export (aka "Share") a FCPX video clip ~2.5 minutes long to a web page for playback by either a Mac or a PC. What I would really like is a small *.mp4 video file. Note: The desired output only needs to be something similar to a YouTube size and does not need to be full high def TV screen size. The intent is to keep the file size small so someone can click on the page and start watching the video without having to wait for downloading a large file.
The first attempt was to Share>Apple Devices>Options. Selected "iPhone" with a file size of 25MB (Note: the window says it is "Compatible with .... Mac, PC". Under Options I selected iPhone, More Compatibility, Better quality (multi-pass).
Unfortunately, the output file is a *.m4v type that is NOT compatible with ... PC.
Plan B is to select Share>Apple Devices>Options. Select "Mac & PC" but the file size is 168MB. Ouch! The FCPX window doesn't even say what file type it would be saved as and I certainly don't want to go through the laborious process to find out that it also is a *.m4v file type. I wish Apple would make the file types more visible in their software. Why hide it? It's part of the file name, isn't it? [hopefully some Apple person is reading this]
What should one do here?
I could stay with Plan B but it would take forever to transmit the file to the server and no doubt take a long time for someone to download it and view it on the web page. This is unacceptable. So save it to YouTube and have a link to it is also unacceptable. Plus, based on the fact that the iPhone setting didn't work why should I trust that this setting should work?
Do I need to buy, say, Compressor?
How can I get a small *.mp4 video file?

Set a password for your user; create other user accounts for when other people want to use it. You can create a "guest" login which gets wiped after every logout, if that's more appropriate for them.

Using AMP to download and save FLV files from web sites?

I thought I had heard months ago that this new media player was going to allow you to download and save the FLV files from web sites like YouTube and others, where a direct download while possible, isn't the easiest thing to currently do. But I don't really see any way in this new media player to download and save files from web sites....it's plenty willing to play them if they're already saved on your hard drive, but I thought one of the reasons for Adobe building this was to make it easier to get them in the first place?

I'd have to agree. This is one of the most useless products I have seen from a company of this standard. Why they continue to provide this product as an example of what can be done with AIR, is bewildering. Myself and others have posted over and over again that the player deletes the saved movies at some random time, an hour or two hours after they appear to be saved.
What is the point of having a 'saved' icon the CD ICON if that movie will be deleted FOR NO BLOODY reason. I just wasted 400 mb of my quota dowloading moves 3 times...!! just to realise that the application deletes them from the VERY CACHE that it copies them to.
Adobe, if this is what I can expect while trying to view the tutorials for FLEX what will the development experience be like. Myself and others are fed up with posting this bug to Adobe, just to be ignored. How much stress to do you want on your servers before you WAKE UP.
I have been in 4 meetings over the last 2 weeks and everyone has remarked about the 'experience' trying to view these tutorials.
Wake up to yourself. If you want to charge $500 for FLEX then atleast fix this crappy player.
PS. I note that this player is supposedly built with Flex and that the list control truncates rather than wraps, in addition, no 'tool tips', dates are not localised, the video keeps unpausing itself each time I return from the downloads page, no settings for where files should be cached. Occasionally the underlining (grey) window bar appears over the top of the flash window edge. I've used the application for an hour or so...
Where is the alternative... I'll be glad when Adobe get some real competition.. so that they pay attention to input. A big wastefull site if all support does is read and ignore posts.!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is there a way to use a single file from multiple sites without having to maintain them twice?
For example I want to use the same PHP-functions in two projects (include file).
Is there a Dreamweaver-technique which allows me to use and upload a file, that is outside of the site-root-directory.

Firstly, this has nothing to do with Dreamweaver, so no, there isn't a DW technique. This depends on your webserver and operating system.
The solution also depends on what kind of file you are trying to share, and if the websites are on the save server. HTML/CSS can't normally access files outside the web root, so, for instance, you can't normally share a CSS file between websites (but there is a workaround using aliases). PHP files don't have this limitation, as long as they are on the same server.
I took a quick look at the Google hosted libraries. It looks like it is all javascript. Javascript doesn't have the same limitation that PHP has. For instance, Lots of people reference a remote copy of jQuery in their web pages.
There is a method of sharing files across servers that involves configuring the receiving server to accept the remote file. I experimented with this some years ago but can't find any info on it now. Sorry, I can't even remember what the technique was called. It wasn't easy to get it to work with all browsers as they have different security policies.

A computer where Acrobat 9 Standard and Acrobat Reader 9 have been installed.
When I try to read a pdf file from a web site and read it in IE, I get a popup whith a question mark and no text.
The pdf file is not open.
I have try to reinstall the last reader but the problem is not solved.

Try using Protected Mode Off. Then you will be at the same level of security that those other programs are running at. You could also try elevating the iexplore.exe task. That would turn off Protected Mode in that task automatically but then
you would be running also with Administrator level authority which might be excessive.

Recover Files from Web Site I created?

I created a site at mac.com but the original files were accidently deleted. Is there any way to download or import the flies from the web site into iweb so I can work with them? Thanks!

iWeb stores your website data in a domain.sites2 file located in Home Folder/Library/Application Support/iWeb. You have to have this file to open your site in iWeb.
There is no way to import the published files. This is why it is sensible to make a backup of this file and to keep it updated.

Opening file from web site in JavaScript

I have some JavaScript I've written (Windows PC platform with PS CS3) that opens a legal notice (jpg file) which runs from the File | Scripts menu and places the legal notice jpg on the bottom of the currently open Photoshop document. It opens and works well when the jpg file is on the local drive (c:) or network (//MachineName) but won't open if I try to open it from a web site (see example below). I'm getting "Error 12233: Expected a reference to an existing File/Folder". Is there any work around for this?

get SWF from any site,
even the most tricky one but it require skills which
obviously you don't have because
if you did you would know that AC_RunActiveContent.js does
not hide SWF files.
It's purposes is for something totally different.

Share files between web modules

As far as I understand, a web module corresponds to a single web page, possibly within a web application that contains multiple web modules (pages). So if my web application has two pages, they would each be a web module. For example,
http://www.myapp.com (home page = root module /)
http://www.myapp.com/contact (contact page = contact module /contact)
I put both of these modules in an ear file to create a web application. However, the root module contains some .js javascript files and a css file that I want to use in all of the modules of my application. Also, I would like to share some tag libraries between the modules (pages) in my applcation, each of which has its own web.xml file which defines the uri and location of the tags.
Is this possible, or do I need to put all of the pages in my site into one web module?

I have a requirement of saving the excel file that has been send to SAP system from a B2B site.
Currently there is a call to the SAP system from the B2B site via an RFC function ,this RFC functions gets the excel file as an input to the SAP system,i need to store this Excel file in the SAP (as an excel file itself).
How can i acheive this?

You can extract a date portion and assign to the variable and then compare with GETDATE()

WMP and VOB files via web site

I have created a web page that will list cover images all of my backed up DVD's that I have on an external hard drive and each cover images is linked to the first VTS_01_1.VOB file for that DVD.
I am testing the page to see how it works for each device I have. The page works flawlessly with my Samsung tablet, the player I have installed on the tablet will automatically go from VTS_01_1.VOB to VTS_01_2.VOB and so on until movie is
done.
If I use my Windows 7 pc & IE 8, WMP will open and play the VTS_01_1.VOB and stop at the end of that file, how can I get WMP to continue to the next file automatically?
I have also tried placed the file VIDEO_TS.IFO & VTS_01_0.IFO in the link and then my tablet will not play it and WMP will not open and play it also. When I use this link in IE I will get a dialogue box asking if I want to save or
open, I select open and WMP will open and then give me a message "The selected file has an extension (.IFO) that is not recognized by Windows Media Player, but the Player may still be able to play it. Because the........ Do you want the Player to
try to play this Content? YES / NO.
I select YES and then I get a dialogue box "WMP cannot play the file. The player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file.
So why will WMP work if I double click the file on the pc directly in the folder and not via the web page?

WMP access files present in a particular folder, the order in which the IFO file or linked VOB file is desinged. However, when it comes to webpage, WMP treats the location as remote and hence will not proceed to next file automatically, even if linked in
the IFO file. This is a security feature to avoid any execution of code from unknown source.
I can suggest adding the VOB file in a playlist, like ASX file, and that file will be opened by WMP and navigation between different VOB files is possible.

Nexus10 version doesn't handle pdf files in web site.

I have a new Nexus 10, and installed both Firefox and the Epson print app. when I go to the Rockville swim and fitness center, full screen, it will show me a button on the right side labeled schedule. clicking on that starts a download (it should simply show me the contents of the file like the real Firefox does). if I go to the download section of Firefox, the download is listed, but when I try to view it with the word app, it claims that the file is not present. if I try to view it with the Epson app, it claims that the app has stopped. if I go into epson print and look around, i can find the file and read it. But this is unreasonably complex.
The same problem occurrs with crome, but crome doesnt appear to support full screen. this problem is not present on the apple ipad with default web browser.

Both kbrosnan and patrickmc are right.
patrickmc recommended an experimental pdf.js add-on that is still under development by Mozilla Labs folks (as kbrosnan pointed out). Hopefully someday it will be mature enough that it will be product quality and work for most PDFs including your Rockville swim and fitness center schedule PDF.
Until then, you can try add-ons but the best solution for those who just want to display PDFs and not experiment with add-ons is to:
download the PDFs and display them with external applications such as Adobe PDF reader (again as kbrosnan pointed out).

How do I get rid of the IMESH add-on. Very annoying. Tried everything youtube, probram delete files and web sites to no avail.

Continually get a pop up window as follows: C:Program Files (x86) Music Toolbar\Datamngr\apcrtldr/dll.
Believe it is associated with IMESH, but not quite sure. No file exists to delete???? Please help.
