Share Gobi2000 connection over WiFi

Hello !
I got a week ago my Thinkpad T510 with Gobi2000 3g modem. Everything works fine but I got an issue right now.
Under Windows 7 I wanted to create ad-hoc WiFi network and share my 3g connection to other PC and Android Phone.
On Android there is no listed any WiFi connection.
On PC it is visible but I cannot connect to it.
I found an application called Connectify but it does not support sharing internet via Gobi2000.
Is there any other way to share this 3g connection via WiFi ?
Have you tried it already ?
Thanks for any answer !

Connectify normally doesn't care what sort of 3G device you have, it only cares about what WiFi card you have.  I suggest that you read through the Connectify instructions again.

  • How to share internet connection over wifi to an ethernet decive using airport express?

Hi i have a device that it can only be connected to the internet via ethernet in a diferent room (and far) where my primary internet connection is. I have my network configured like this: cable modem >>>  connected via ethernet >>> to airport time capsule >>> connectes via wi fi >>> to airport express last generation "n" >>> connected via ethernet cable to device. The problem is that i'm not having internet conection in my ethernet connected device. Anyone know if I have to configure something in some special way or if i'm doing something wrong?
    Thanks
    Guido

    It should work fine..
To figure this out, check if the Express is connected by wireless properly and getting an IP.. you will see that in airport utility.
Make sure you are set to either extend or join the wireless network. The Express should then pass an IP to the "device".
No luck start over.. reset everything to factory.
If the TC is older model use 7.6.1 firmware.. it works much better for extend wireless.
Use short names.. 2-20 characters no spaces and pure alphanumeric.
Then set the Express again in extend wireless mode.
It is pretty easy in v6 airport utility. Look at the posts from Bob Timmons on how to extend wireless.. he must have answered those question a thousand times in the last few years.
Here is one I did. https://discussions.apple.com/message/24161378#24161378

You might want to try resetting your router and your modem - just unplug the cords, leave them unplugged for about 3-5 minutes and then replug the modem and then the router in that order.
This may or may not correct your problem - call back if it doesn't.

  • Airport Express connected over Wifi to my main router used as an extender

    Hello!
My existent home network is designed as follow:
Ground floor - I have a cable modem with Wifi capability (here I have too a Linksys WRT120N. Not solved the poor wifi signal on 2nd floor tough)
First floor - It's there my MacBook Pro that connects to my Wifi properly as all other devices (iphone, ipad etc)
Second floor - No way to get a good Wifi signal
So, I just bought an Airport Express and I`ve been trying to set it up as an extender to improve the Wifi signal on room three. My intention would be to get it located on the room 2 connected over the Wifi to either the main router or Linksys. However it's not working yet. Is that possible to implement it on this way? Any advice to make these gadgets to work all together?
    Thanks.
    Alexandre

First of all thanks Tesserax. Let me try to explain what I have at the moment and what I've targeting.
1st level -> a cable modem that's the main router connected to the Internet. At this point I've connected my Linksys (LAN port) to the cable modem (WAN port) in order to try to get the Wifi signal improved to the other levels.
2nd level -> where I leave my MacBook Pro and the Wifi signal at this level from the Linksys is OK
    3nd level -> poor Wifi
Having said that, I have the following routers available at home: Cable Modem, Linksys WRT120N, Aiport Express and also a TP-Link WA-281. It seems that all these stuff does not work together tough (:- based on previous answers due compability between all of them.
So, I was trying to connect the Aiport Express to the MacBook on the 2nd level to improve the Wifi signal for the top floor.
    Thanks,
    Alexandre

  • IOS devices and Exchange won't connect over Wifi

Neither my ipad nor my iphone 5 will connect with my exchange server over my wifi network.  The problem is limited to IOS devices on wifi and Exchange.  The phone will connect with exchange over the cellular network.  My windows laptop works fine over wifi with exchange and everything else.  The ipad and iphone will connect to wifi and have no problems with web browsing, gmail, etc.  I've used both devices successfully for months and the problem started yesterday.  I did not do any IOS updates yesterday.
iPad and iPhone are both on IOS 7.0.4
The message on the screen:  Cannot Get Mail.  Server error.  Contact your server administrator.
It also says:  Cannot Get Mail.  The connection to the server failed.
    What I've tried:
Resetting network settings (only tried on iPad, since it didn't work)
Powering off each device then turning back on
Powered down the wireless router and powered back up
Confirmed with the exhange hosting company (GoDaddy) that they've made no changes

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

  • Sharing internet connection over wifi - 2 questions

I have a Mac mini that is connected to a cable modem by ethernet, and then broadcasts a wireless network to share that connection. It seems silly to buy a wireless router when one of my computers can be the router.
The mini's firewall is enabled, and has a few ports open to allow computers on the network to use email, web, ssh and other services. I have two questoins that have been nagging me about this setup:
    1) I can log into the mini from outside via ssh with its IP address. But what if I want to log into another computer on the network? My iMac has an internal IP address of 10.0.x.x... how do I ssh to that address from outside the firewall? Would it look like "ssh y.y.y.y:z.z.z.z"?
    2) When I tell my firewall to block all UDP traffic (seems like a sensible option to make the setup more secure) email and other services no longer work on computers on the LAN. Must UDP traffic be open for the internet connection to be shared?

    >1) I can log into the mini from outside via ssh with its IP address. But what if I want to log into another computer on the network? My iMac has an internal IP address of 10.0.x.x... how do I ssh to that address from outside the firewall? Would it look like "ssh y.y.y.y:z.z.z.z"?
You can't log into a system 'behind' the Mini without playing lots of games regarding port forwarding (for which there is no built-in GUI). In addition to that you can't use port 22 since that will always point to the Mini itself. What you'll have to do is use some other port (e.g. port 2222) and have the mini forward that to port 22 on the internal machine. Then you can connect to port 2222 on your public IP address and get forwarded to the internal machine. PITA to manage, though.
    >2) When I tell my firewall to block all UDP traffic (seems like a sensible option to make the setup more secure) email and other services no longer work on computers on the LAN. Must UDP traffic be open for the internet connection to be shared?
Blocking UDP is no security feature at all - either your machine is listening to the UDP socket or it isn't.
In any case, DNS typically uses UDP, so you're blocking your DNS queries and that's most likely to be what's hindering your network.

  • How to share internet-connection over vpn

    Hallo,
first, sorry for my bad english...
i have a mac mini 2011 with os x mavericks and os x server.
i use a vpn connection for my mobile clients. these clients need to connect to the internet with the same connection as the server.
how do i share the connection for my vpn clients?
    thx
    cgwaldt

    Mr. cgwaldt:
I just ran some tests and confirmed the method.  To mask your ip address via your vpn do the following.
    1. Create a vpn connection to your server.
    2. Use Finder to start your ScreenSharing.app.  This app is located at /System/Library/CoreServices/ScreenShare
    3. When you start the app, it will ask you for the ip address of the network computer.  Enter the ip address of your server.
    4. Log in with a registered account on that server.
    5. Do all your work through the shared screen.
I have taken a screen shot.  You will see two browsers in the screen shot.  One is open on my local computer, and the other is open on the ShareScreen app.  The one in the ShareScreen app shows the static IP address of my office.  The one that is on my local machine shows the dynamic IP address provided by my mobile internet provider.  Note, my advice in a previous post was not entirely correct; I am forcing all traffic through the VPN tunnel in this picture, and I expected my local machine to have the static ip address that is the same as the one in the ShareScreen app.  Even with all network traffic going back to my home server, I run into the problem that you spoke of, but the solution is to use that connection to work from a home computer, and then the problem is solved.
Any work you do on your server using the ShareScreen app will use internet packets marked with your static IP address.  The connection was not nearly as slow as I had thought it would be. There is a delay between the typing of text and the appearing of the text on the screen, but if you are good at typing, this should not slow you down.
In this example, the webpage that is showing 173.198.104.130 would be the one that you would use for your billing.  That IP address is the static IP of my office, which is where the "Mavericks1" computer is located.
For this test, I used a mobile hotspot on an Android Ice Cream Sandwhich operating system running on an HTC Rizound celular phone.  The connection speed is mediocre, and the delay was not bad.  If you are working in a hotel or have access to a much better wireless connection, then the delay will probably be minimal at best.
    I hope this helps.
    -Jared

I just come to migrate of OSX 10.4.x in 10.5.5.
The automatic connection in Wifi worked well under 10.4.x But today under 10.5.5, the automatic connection doesn't work, either after a starting up, or after a setting in a stand-by mode.
I suspect 10.5.5 of being the cause

  • Streaming MacBooks Internet Connection over WiFi

    Hi together,
I've got the problem that i won't have an internet connection in my house for quite some time now.
I own an iPhone and a MacBook Pro. I'm usually using the "personal hotspot" feature to access the internet from the MacBook.
The problem is now that both my PS3 or other devices can't connect to the internet.
My idea is to connect the MacBook via Ethernet or WiFi to an Airport Extreme Station in order to share the MacBooks internet connection all over the network and with the PS3.
Is this somehow possible or can the "tethered" internet of the MacBook not be shared through a network?
    Best Regards,
    Marc

For the better connectivity please verify that you have got an 802.11n card in your computer. New generation routers (i.e. E1200) speaks an entirely different language than 802.11g cards, so while those adapters can work with the E1200 for example, they are not optimized to work with it. It is like having to translate from one language to another in real time when going from N to G... So in those cases the old router will show a stronger signal than the new one.

  • Networks will "connect" over Wifi, but DNS resolution is impossible and I can't access the internet.

My OSX 10.7.5 iMac (late 2011) will connect to my university's wireless network and thinks it's connected to the internet, but cannot resolve any DNS - and cannot actually access the internet on any browser or internet-utilising app. My university has 2 networks, a regular wifi one and an eduroam one. I have the same problem on both networks. My MacBook, running Snow Leopard, and my iPad (latest software) both connect to both networks just fine.
Because it's my university's network, i can't reset my router or anything like that. I'm in halls. I don't think it's a network issue, because all my other devices are fine.
I've searched high and low on these forums but haven't found anyone having exactly the same problem as me - I've heard of odd few minutes of people losing their connections in this manner, but my computer's been down now for hours and nothing. I've restarted it many times, even once in "Recovery Mode" and I'm getting nothing. I've followed instructions to flush my DNS cache, renew DHCP leases, I've tried manually inputting various DNSes I've found (eg the 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 google ones), none of which have worked.
Using terminal, I can't ping either an http:// domain, or an IP address. Both get "timed out" as a response. I can't access the internet on any browser (chrome, safari, firefox), my google mail notifier, Skype, or my twitter app. Or anything else.
I'm relatively computer literate, but I'm not particularly code-savvy, so I'd really appreciate it if I could get some step-by step help on here, bearing in mind what I've already tried. I'm really worried, because it all seems to have happened completely out of the blue. Last time I updated was some time a couple weeks ago; I update whenever my software update beeps at me.
    Thanks.

    You can get it here:

There's many places on the internet that describe how to compile/install a kernel... including the Arch wiki.
I hope you're aware that the "-rcX" versions are unstable/test kernels.

  • Playbook will not connect over WiFI to my MAC for File Sharing

    Just as the Ttitle says.
It doesn't even show up as a USB drive when I plug it in via the supplied USB cable.
WiFI File Sharing is pretty much the biggest feature I'll use on this device, so getting it up and running smoothly is a must and if I can't get it working soon I'll just return it.
I find this very frustrating since it's apperantly supposed to work straight out of the box.
    Finder>Go>Connect To Server
    smb://PLAYBOOK (Name of my Playbook)
    Attempting to connect to server
There was a Problem Connecting to the server "PLAYBOOK"
The server may not exist or it is unavailable at this time. CHeck the server name or IP address, check your network connection, and then try again.
Those are the three screens I get, sorry I can't upload the Screen/Window shots I took.

    Go to Storage & Sharing/
    Network Identification/
    look at the user name
in my case the playbook assigned the name "playbook"
when I loogged in with that username it worked.
Now why did it do that?

  • Time Machine won't connect over WiFi

I'm running 10.7.4 on my MacBook Pro.  I have an airport extreme that I have a Western Digital 2Gb network drive connected to.  I performed a full backup over the network and have had subsuquent backups work fine.  Recently I have been getting the following message and I can't get Time Machine to backup any changes I have on my computer.  "The backup disk image “/Volumes/TimeMachine/dave (2).sparsebundle” is already in use."  If I reboot the computer and the drive, I still can't get it to backup.  I am able to access the drive by selecting connect to server in the GO menu, but the Time Machine won't connect.  Any suggestions?  Thanks.

    See C17

But your doing something that is not supported and frankly many people find does exactly what you experience... it works well for a while and then just won't work.. you can verify the disk.. see A5 in the same post as listed. You probably need to wipe it and start again.. but this will keep happening.. The AEBS is not suitable for this task.

    Environment:
iMac 10.7.3, ADSL Broadband, wireless modem/router
    Symptoms are:
Browsing fine on both laptop PC and iMac, suddenly iMac says it has cannot find a page.
Network diagnostics has red dots in last two items (Internet failed and Server failed).
Laptop PC (also wireless) keeps working fine - so the problem is probably not the modem/router.
I can immediately fix the problem by going to Menu bar, clicking WiFi symbol, clicking "Turn  Wi-fi Off" and then clicking "Turn Wi-fi On". All green lights and all is OK, until next time.
    Any more suggestions?
    Barry

    Barry,
Can you sample your environment? Connect to your WiFi network and open a terminal (Applications - Utilities). Copy and paste these two commands, one at a time and then paste the results to this thread.
    /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Apple80211.framework/Resources/airport -I
    /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Apple80211.framework/Resources/airport -s
