Share indicates failed

In addition to my previous message that my project does not want to share (youtube, with compressor, vimeo whatever it all says 'failed') in compressor I get an indication "the destination you have specified does not have read/write access" and "check the folder if it is set to read only". What does that mean? Where can I change that. Thx
Pim Giel

2.2GB for a movie of 2.5 mintues is way, way too big.  Your movie, even in high def, should be probably no more than 200MB. What is the file size limit that Youtube allows you to upload?  If the file you are trying to upload is beyond their limit, you might be getting that message about read/write access.
Then, how did you get that large of a file?  2.5 minutes on your timeline cannot possibly produce that size of file in rendering unless ...
(1) you have a gap clip (dark gray) or other material way beyond the end of the 2.5 minutes.  In that case FCP X will render the timeline for as long as there is material there.
or
(2) you chose a Render/Share preset that was extremely high quality and bit rate.  Youtube has posted suggestions for setting your bit rate and frame size, etc.  Remember they will always convert your video to something smaller and more manageable for them ... something that takes us less space on their servers.  Beyond about 4Mbps for the bit rate and 1280x720 for the frame size, you will not see a lot of improvement once they do their work on your file. In fact I use 2Mbps all the time to send up high def to video services, and it works well as 1280x720.
Anyway, just some thoughts. Sorry I could not help you more. Best wishes.

  • Unable to reconnect afp share - "sosend failed for request" error

    I use rsync to synchronize an Xserve G5 (2 x2 Ghz - Mac OS X 10.3.9) from a Windows 2000 Server.
I use a script to reconnect a network share hosted by the w2k server. today system.log indicates the following lines :
Jan 11 11:53:19 XserveStudio kernel: AFP_VFS afpfs UserCommand: sosend failed for request 32
    Jan 11 11:53:19 XserveStudio kernel: AFP_VFS afpfs_Reconnect started /Volumes/Studio

I am unable to remount the share with the Finder but I can mount another share of the same server
    Any idea ?
    Xserve G5 2 x 2Ghz   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

i had a similar problem the other day at a client's office. the solution seemed to be to remove a faulty switch between the workstation and the server.
connecting the cat5 directly to an available wall jack allowed the user to reconnect right away. before that, she was unable to reconnect after getting disconnected, and the Finder would hang, rendering the Mac useless.
how does your script connect to the server? do you explicitly use afp://... or some other syntax?

  • Share online fails to launch: "system error" 5800

    hi,
i've added ovi and flikr accounts to my share online application on my nokia 5800
i've managed to upload several photos but after restarting the phone the share online application fails to launch.
It thows "system error" message upon loading and immediatly closes.
Clicking the upload icon from the image viewer gives the same result.
i've done hard reset which seemed to help, but after restoring a backup with phone settings the problem returned as well.
is there a way to reset share online's settings without resetting all of the other phone preferences and access points?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

ok, managed to solve it (just to make it quicker to others having this issue)
    there are two solutions:
the official one is to do a backup on everyone except your settings, do a hard reset, restore (not the settings/apps).
this will work but you will have to reconfigure everything and reinstall a lot of apps.
the unofficial solution requires a formidable amount of skill but it's doable,
read the quick post on how to get a developer certificate here: http://www.nokiaapps.org/symbian-os-9-4-s60v5-apps-games/11372-sign-any-symbianos9-4-get-your-own-de...
once you'll get the file and install the app (takes a day or so to get it)
follow these instructions to allow access to your c:\private folder
    http://www.nokiaapps.org/symbian-os-9-4-s60v5-apps-games/12129-5800-hacked.html
once complete delete the folder c:\private\2000bb61 (i hope it's the same naming in all devices, if not search for the ovi-logo-1.svg file in the c:\private folder
once deleted your app will work as expected.

  • Time Machine backup to Windows Share Now Failing Verify

Hi Everyone - I have searched everywhere and can't find any help.
This is my situation. I have my TM backup to an SMB windows share and its been working fine for months. Two things changed recently: a) I installed Windows 7 on my windows box and b) I installed that TM update that provides greater reliability. Backups worked fine for weeks after both of these changes, but just this week backups failed and TM wanted to create a new backup. I tried to recreate a new backup, but it keeps failing with errors below. When I try to run a verify disk on the sparsebundle (with disk util) I always get errors, but of course, I can not fix the errors when the sparsebundle is on an SMB. I am currently running a chkdsk on the windows drive, but I don't think its damaged.

Is that a "supported" destination? According to this Apple article: Disks that can be used with Time Machine

  • Final cut pro dvd fails to share

Over the past few months Final Cut Pro Share DVD fails most of the time. I tried restarting the program and my mac to no avail. I end up moving the video to my macbook and sharing the dvd on it. I am running OX 10.9.5  Final Cut Pro 10.1.3.

The error message seemed to indicate an encoding problem – apparently to DVD specs. See id you can verify this by choosing Output Device>Hard Drive  in Settings in export dialog.  If it fails, leave FCP open and go inside the library bundle and open up the Shared Items folder. If there is an m2v file and  an AC3 file, drag them to the Desktop to save them from being deleted when FCP is closed down.
Let us know what you find out.

  • Trouble with wireless n and smb shares

    I have a bit of a per-plexer here.
I have a personal mac that up until a little while ago, ran 1.5.8 flawlessly for six months since i had it.
This included a lot of mounting my windows 7 file server and watching movies or listening to music over wireless G. Every night in fact I would fall asleep to a movie, then wake up and play some music from my music folder on the same server.
The battery would die nightly of course. Morning, charge it up with some music on.
I picked up a copy of snow leopard upgrade for 30 bucks when it was released or there about and installed it. Went fine and I continued happily using the machine for about 2 months.
Then I bought a belkin wireless N gigabit router, to replace my wrt54g. It worked alright and I continued my daily/nightly routine, watch a movie, sleep, listen to music.
However the first morning, and every morning subsequently there after I have run in to a pain-in-the-butt problem.
I awoke to find, like always, my server shares still mounted (or at least they appeared to be). But opening any of them would present a blank finder window, like no files were available.
Unmounting and re-mounting the shares would fail, with a message saying unable to connect to the PC.
So, what do you do next? I reboot. My programs close, the dock, finder, my background turns to the blue solid.
System stops re-booting... it sits here, with a plain cursor and I am unable to do anything but hard-power it off.
After a hard-reboot,everything functions normally until it hibernates or sleeps with the samba shares.
I took the router back and got a dlink n/gigabit router instead, cussing out belkin on my way to the store. No change!
So I reinstalled (I didn't even archive, i just blew it away) - installed 10.5.8 again, upgraded to SL, and connected to my wireless. I can still reproduce the issue.
So, i'm bummed, i've tried a lot of things I wont bother listing here but one more important detail i wanted to add is:
I work at a company that has blanket wireless b/g coverage using multiple access points and a controller to do load balancing and access point switching.
Recently, we got a few N access points from the provider and I set them up around the office in a new, isolated SSID on the subnet i do my work on. Using WPA2 Psk, like at home.
So, now to be fair I've got a slightly-newer mac at the office, same unibody but late 2009 instead of early 2009 (sd slot instead of express slot). I threw SL on it, and connected to the new SSID i setup and finally connected to our netapp and left for the night.
Come in in the morning and I can reproduce the issue on the work mac.
So, two different macs, 2 very different N wireless networks and 2 different file server platforms. But same prob, **** thing chokes overnight.
I have been able to reproduce this issue with a slough of late 2009 macs at the office now, as I handed out the SSID key to those with SL as my unwitting test subjects. Everyone's coming up with the same problem.
Has anyone out there run in to this? It's such a huge issue i'm surprised i can't find anymore information about it!
    Thanks,
    Josh

I have narrowed this issue down to .net 3.5 install.
I have boot, efi, sources, support, autorun, bootmgr, bootmgr.edi, and setup.
I have confirmed that the sxs folder is there.
I also just added WindowsSource=%DeployRoot%\Operating Systems\Windows Server 2012 R2 SERVERSTANDARDCORE x64\sources\sxs to my customsettings and updated the boot iso.  I am still receiving the errors.
One last bit of information I am able to get to the deployment share with the sxs folder in it from the reference machine I am creating but when I manually try to install .net 3.5 from roles and features to the share it fails. But if I copy the files local
    they work fine.
I seem to have permission issues with other subfolders also.
    Thanks,

  • Can't mount share points over VPN after moving server

I'm tearing my hair out over this one. We have a server that was located in our office. I just moved it downtown to a colo center (no longer in office) and set up VPN access.
However, nobody is able to mount the server share points, even though the connection to the VPN seems to work fine (e.g.: I choose "connect to L2TP..." and it connects, VPN icon shows I am online with the server).
Any attempt to mount a share point fails. I've tried using afp://servername.com and I've tried afp://64.xx.xx.xx (where that's the machine's public IP address). Am I supposed to use a different address (such as an internal 192 address that works over the VPN) or should I be able to mount the afp point using the server public domain name? Should I try NFS?
Any help would be appreciated -- really need to get access to this system's files again! Thank you!

And does anyone know which IP you enter for your sites in the web service? The public static IP or the internal private static IP?
For the external DNS server I am sure you have already deduced that it should be the static IP issued you by Comcast and this will be forwarded by your router to your server.
For your internal DNS server you could use either the internal LAN IP, or the external IP although the later might be affected by your firewall so this you will need to test.
For the Web Server service in Server admin, if your only running a single website you could avoid the issue by just using the wildcard entry which will respond to any IP address, so this would be an empty host name and an IP address of *
In fact you don't have to specify an IP address you could just use the hostname, so it will listen to traffic arriving at your server addressed to any IP address and as long as the URL that was requested includes the hostname you define for the site it will get responded to. So if as an example you have two websites you want to serve
    www.example.com
    site2.example.com
then as long as both have the IP address for the site as an * (asterisk) then both should work as separate sites for traffic addressed to either the LAN or WAN IP address of the server.
You will still need to use two IP addresses on the server to enable VPN, you could use a USB Ethernet adapter for the second one. Port forwarding for VPN is not as simple as other traffic as VPN requires traffic different to the standard IP and UDP packets. Routers that support 'VPN Passthrough' are specifically designed to accomodate this but I don't know if the AirPort Extreme does this. I have also found PPTP copes better with this sort of setup than L2TP although PPTP is generally regarded as less secure.

  • MacBook Pro Disk Share Connection Failure

I have a MacBook and a MacBook Pro on an n-only wireless network hosted by an AEBSn in bridge mode.
The MacBook computer connects to the disk share without fail from within the local network or from the Internet. The MacBook Pro cannot connect from within the local network but can connect from the Internet.
    Any thoughts?

    craigsma,
You have a disk error that must be repaired. Boot to your OS X install disk, open Disk Utility, and run the "Repair Disk" function.
Unfortunately, this will repair your file system, and allow you to make a backup of your important data (maybe), but it will not repair damaged system files. Since it seems, from the problems you are having, that you definitely have damaged system files as a result of the disk error, you are going to have to format that disk, then reinstall OS X.
What you have experienced is a really, really common occurrance, and no call for alarm. It doesn't mean that there is anything wrong with your HD, but rather with its catalogue of files (which is damaged). It is especially common to see this with new computers, so there you are.
I recommend that you choose the "Zero All Data" option when you do format. It will take a while longer to format you disk this way, but doing so will map out any bad blocks on the HD, which may or may not be the root cause of your disk error. Using this option will help to insure that you will have no further disk errors in the immediate future.

  • File Share Witness Resouces Errors in a SQL 2012 Alwayson Availability Group Environment

Hi I am getting the following error in WFC Manager and in my system event log:
    Event ID1564:
File share witness resource 'File Share Witness' failed to arbitrate for the file share '\\SQL2012ClusterWitnessPath'. Please ensure that file share '\\SQL2012ClusterWitnessPath' exists and is accessible by the cluster.
    Event ID 1069:
Cluster resource 'File Share Witness' of type 'File Share Witness' in clustered role 'Cluster Group' failed.
Based on the failure policies for the resource and role, the cluster service may try to bring the resource online on this node or move the group to another node of the cluster and then restart it.  Check the resource and group state using Failover Cluster
Manager or the Get-ClusterResource Windows PowerShell cmdlet.
    Event ID 1205:
The Cluster service failed to bring clustered service or application 'Cluster Group' completely online or offline. One or more resources may be in a failed state. This may impact the availability of the clustered service or application.
These errors showed up every hour on the hour and then suddenly stopped.  I tried looking at the cluster.log file but there wasn't anything recorded there.  The file share witness shows to be online and my AG did not fail over to another node.
The cluster has read and write permissions to the share.  I did not find any error messages about the witness share on the remote server.
I am wondering what caused these series of events to occur?
    Thanks.

    Hi Kevin Ni,
Thanks for your reply.  I have ran the validation test and I have 2 warnings.  My environment has 2 nodes and 2 AG's with each node a failover for each AG.  So that each node hosts and primary and a secondary of an AG.  Both nodes are
on the same subnet.  Here are the errors.
    - Validate Multiple Subnet Properties
The RegisterAllProvidersIP property causes the network name to register all dependent IP addresses whether they are online or offline. Some DNS servers and clients in multi-subnet (multi-site) environments can identify the IP address that is in their subnet
and attempt connections only to that address. In such environments, it is usually best to set RegistrerAllProvidersIP to 1. This reduces DNS replication delays.
The RegisterAllProvidersIP property for network name 'Name:  Listener1' is set to 1. For the current cluster configuration this value should be set to 0.

    - Validate Network Communication
Node ONE.domain.com is reachable from Node TWO.domain.com by multiple communication paths, but each path includes network interface TWO.domain.com - TWO_NIC_Team. This network interface may be a single point of failure for communication within the
cluster. Please verify that this network interface
is highly available or consider adding additional networks or network interfaces to the cluster.

I have node TWO setup with NIC Teaming.  Node ONE is also setup with NIC teaming but it also has a second IP address but the second IP address cannot communicate with node TWO.

  • DPM Backups Fail on File Server, (ID 2033 Details: The System Cannot Find the File Spedcified (0x80070002)

I've found a few treads and posts related to this error, but none of the answers seem to work. I have DPM 2010 U7 server backing up my file server (Server 2008 R2). The backup of the D: Drive(which hosts all shares) is failing with the following error:
Affected area: D:\Occurred since: 4/23/2014 11:15:26 AMDescription: The replica of Volume D:\ on XXXXX.XXX.XX is inconsistent with the protected data source. All protection activities for data source will fail until the replica is synchronized with consistency check. You can recover data from existing recovery points, but new recovery points cannot be created until the replica is consistent. For SharePoint farm, recovery points will continue getting created with the databases that are consistent. To backup inconsistent databases, run a consistency check on the farm. (ID 3106) DPM encountered an error while performing an operation for \\?\Volume{bb191e08-5d62-4a60-85f1-cdbd7598976b}\XXXX\XXXXX\XXXX\XXXXX\XXXXX\XXXXX\XXXXX\XXXXX\XXXXX on XXXXXX.XXXX.XXX (ID 2033 Details: The system cannot find the file specified (0x80070002))
I've ran SFC /SCANNOW on both servers, rebooted. Ran chckdsk /f on the D: on the file server, rebooted again. Still having the same issue. The BMR and System State backups run just fine, along with the backup of the C:
I am getting the following error on the file server for volsnap.
The shadow copies of volume D: were deleted because the shadow copy storage could not grow in time.  Consider reducing the IO load on the system or choose a shadow copy storage volume that is not being shadow copied.
Which caused me to try moving the shadow copy storage to the C:, but then it just fails with the following error. Which makes since as the C drive is 136GB, while the D drive is 27TB.
The shadow copies of volume D: were aborted because the shadow copy storage failed to grow.
Lastly I deleted the entire replica and recreated the protection, with no luck.  I tried to just slowly create the replica by adding one small parts at a time, currently its failing while trying to backup ~300GB.
I've checked the VSS Writiers on the file server, everything looks correct. Here is the print out.

    Hi,
It is strange that the issue still exists after recreating backup.
Please try again to clear all replica, and specifically, move the folder involved in this error to another location such as Drive C and see if issue still exists.
Meanwhile please test if Windows Server Backup works or not.
