Share library or album with faces information

Is it possible to share a library or album with faces information intact?

Share? Sure. Simply put the Library on an external disk formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and allow the other person to open it. They'll see exactly what you see.
Share from? Not so clear. There is no way to export a photo with faces information. There is no agreed standard for passing this information around. However, if the other person has the same version of iPhoto as you it is possible to use iPhoto Library Manager to share this data from one Library to another.

I have a MobileMe account and have shared many MobileMe Galleries.  MobileMe Galleries are going away in June.  How can I share a photo album with others using iCloud?

The new ios version of iPhoto allows sharing.  Here's a blurb from Apple's web site:
There’s the old way of creating photo galleries, then there’s the iPhoto way. Select a group of photos and iPhoto automatically flows them into a beautiful journal that’s fun to personalize and share online. Touch a photo to make it bigger or smaller. Or drag it to a different spot on the screen. iPhoto adjusts the page around whatever you’re doing, so your journal always looks great. You can even add captions, maps, dates, and weather — giving family and friends the big picture at a glance.
    More things you can do:
With iPhoto, there’s more than one way to share a photo. Post pictures directly to Facebook, Flickr, or Twitter. Play an impromptu slideshow on your iPad or iPhone. Or stream photos to your HDTV to give your big moments room to shine.
I have not used ios version of iPhoto to share "journals" and I'm not sure this is part of iCloud or not.  You'll have to do a google search on "ios iphoto" and read up of this journal thing.  As far as I know, this is the only way of sharing photos.  I'm not sure whether other friends use a browser to view these journals or whether they need something special.  Any way - search around to find answers.

  • Moving images from library to library WITH Faces information

    Ok.
    iPhoto 09/faces
Can someone out there tell me, first off, is it even possible to move photos from one library to another library WITH all the Faces effort I've put in on those photos (say from my default library on my hard drive to another person's library on an external hard drive)?
That way they don't have to be rescanned and then I have to go through and correct the crappy scanning effort that the program did all over again.
I tried exporting/importing, straight copy, etc. with no dice.
I don't want to keep having to re-correct all the faces in images I transfer between libraries.
"Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi....You're my only hope!"

For folks out there here is the results of Terrence's suggestion (which was a good one BTW, I don't want to dump on him - it was good thinking on his part! Thanks Terrence).
iPhoto Lib Manager still ***** (on my system anyway - iMac OSX 10.5.6).
I installed the thing and tried moving 1000 photos with faces info organized nicely - no dice - it crapped out.
First make sure all the permissions are set properly and the library mounts automatically (under the options). Then it will at least ATTEMPT to copy everything (also edit prefs to reflect all the metadata that goes with the photos like faces info, dates, desc. etc).
But while thing appear to go well, it craps out at the end leaving you stymied. It re-scans the imported images and the faces data does not come through in the end despite it's trying to do so.
I tried it with 80 photos, just to make sure I wasn't trying to fit 20lbs of manure into a 10lb bag. Same story with the smaller transfer
If I go any smaller, I may as well have used the public version (free) which limits you to 20 at a time.
So bottom line - according to my experience - if you and someone else have the same photos in your separate libraries and want to share the effort one of you puts into organizing faces info - you're hooped/screwed/pooched!
    Nada - diddly - bupkiss!
VERY DISAPPOINTING! Both the iPhoto 09 AND the failed (but valiant) attempt by iPhoto Lib Man.
Should've stuck with iLife 08 and lived with it...sigh.

  • HELP! I STILL CAN'T SHARE MY NEW ALBUM WITH PHOTOSHOP GALLERY

I've tried the advice given so far, and I still can't share my new album in my online photoshop gallery--even though I've already got about 12 other albums there.
Through Preferences I got to Elements/ Backup Synchronization Services, and there I find that only ONE  of my 12 albums already IN the online gallery is marked "sync."  And the list of allbums under "My photos on Photoshop.com" actually INCLUDES the new album, but I can't check the "sync" beside the name of this album because the "sync" isn't highlighted.  On the other hand, all the OTHER albums are now in the online even though just one of them is marked "sync." Can anyone suggest something else to try here?

Are you using a single catalog or more than one catalog?
It’s only possible to sync one catalog with your Adobe ID.

  • How do i share a photo album with another computer

I have edited a photo album that I wish to share with another computer in my network.  How do I import the album?

If you want to share them as an album the only way to do this is to use  iPhoto Library Manager
Using this will also preserve versions and all metadata
Alternatively you can simply export to a folder (File -> Export) and then import to the other Library. If you drag the folder to the Album heading it will create an Album for you. You can get almost all metadata (but not Faces) this way if you export to jpeg, but you won't get versions.

  • IPhoto and iPhoto Library Manager Issue With Faces

I use iPhoto ’11. I just recently imported some photos from my iMac iPhoto to my Macbook using the product iPhoto Library Manager. I thought everything went well until closer inspection. A lot of the faces in the imported library are off meaning for example, the people may be in the centre of the photo but the face tags are off to the left or right.
I thought I would manually try to fix this. However when I try to “add a face”, it looks like it’s going to work until I leave the photo and come back to it. The face tag has disappeared. Also on some photos, I can’t even click “add a face”. A few of the pictures say there is an unnamed face but there isn’t.
Any suggestions? Would it help if I reinstalled iPhoto 11?
    Tom

If you export out of iPhoto with Format=JPEG and the checkboxes selected to include keywords you can keep the keywords, titles and descriptions. If you check the box for Locations I believe you will get the faces also but am not sure on that.
iPhoto Library Manager keeps keywords, titles, description and Faces and Places when it copes between libraries.  The fact that you had faces problems leads me believe that the library you were rebuilding with iPLM was damaged initially.
But you could check that out very easily.  Create a new library, import about 10 photos and identify the faces in them.  Then rebuild that library with iPLM.  If it comes up the same then there's a problem with iPLM.  It it comes up good then the original library was the culprit.

  • Can't resequence photos in i Photo 11 smart album.. tried drag and drop.. also if I share a smart album to Facebook will it appear as manually sequenced or by date?

I have created a smart album with a date range and 'photo is flagged' and I would like to sequence them manually. The doucmentation I can find says you can open a smart alblum and drag/drop... not me. Can you help?
Also.. if I figure this out and Share the smart album with Facebook, in what sequence will they appear in Facebook?
    Thanks!

You can't sort photos manually in a Smart Album. How Facebook will display the pics is one for Facebook support.

  • Listing Names Utilized with Face Recognition

I thought while going through my thousands of pictures, clicking and categorizing faces (oh wow this takes a long time), that since I dont believe my idea is implemented, that when looking at the pictures outside of a Faces group, that small text display underneath, or it lists on hover, indicating which names are Face recognized in that photo. This could allow me to determine which pictures have not been categorized, or fully categorized with several faces incorporated.
I'd like to take full advantage of this feature, but of course is not 100%. Having so many pictures, it can be difficult determining which are and are not being utilized.

Welcome to the Apple user to user assistance forum
I'm not clear on what you want
To find all photos with one or more un-named faces in them make a smart album with "face is unnamed"
TO find all photos with no faces identified make a smart album with "face is any", flag them and make a smart album with "photo is not flagged" and "keyword is not face checked" and after you look at a group of photos and either assign faces of determine that they do not have a face you want in them, assign the keyword "face checked" to them

  • How to share library on same mac with two users

please provide step by step instruction on how to share library for my two girls on the same computer. my older daughter already has itouch and library. Now for the holidays got younger one an itouch also and want to share the library.
i am a novice with computers...so please help

just in case you haven't already resolved this, see: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1203
To share your music with other accounts on the computer
    On Mac OS X
    1. Quit iTunes.
    2. Locate your iTunes Music Folder. It is stored by default in ~/Music/iTunes or ~/Documents/iTunes/.
These folders cannot be accessed by other accounts on the computer. In order for other users to be able to access your music, you must move it to a publicly accessible location.
The Public folder in your home directory (~/Public), or to another folder outside your home directory that other users have access to, such as /Users/Shared.
Tip: The tilde "~" refers to your home folder. For more information see Mac OS X: Using Your Home Directory.
    3. Drag the iTunes Music Folder to a publicly accessible location.
Important: Do not move the iTunes folder, the iTunes 4 Music Library file or the iTunes Library.xml file.
    4. Open iTunes.
    5. From the iTunes menu, choose Preferences.
    6. Click Advanced.
    7. Click the Change button.
    8. Navigate in the Change Music Folder Location dialog to the location of your iTunes Music folder.
    9. Click Choose.
Repeat these steps for each account that is sharing music with other users.
Note: If multiple users of a computer are storing music in one folder, duplicate song files are generated when a user imports music from CD that has already been imported by another user.

  • Smart Album with Unnamed Faces

Hi - I created a smart album containing all images with unnamed faces (using the "Face: is unnamed" filter), which I found useful for editing people's names. It had been working, but the folder now contains nothing even though I still have lots of images with unnamed faces. Tried deleting the old and creating a new smart album, quit and restarted Aperture a few times, and repaired the library, but still doesn't work. Any suggestions?
    Cheers,
    Peter O.

Not perfect, but better than nothing...
I created a Smart Album with a rule set that says "Must match All" and then five rules:
    Face does not include a
    Face does not include e
    Face does not include i
    Face does not include o
    Face does not include u
The album includes all pics with unnamed faces, but also all pics with no faces (e.g., landscapes).  I then scan thru looking for faces I want to name.
I also submitted a request to restore the real feature, as Terence recommended.

  • HT4915 I share my iTunes accont with my kids. Many of the songs that they purchase, I do not want in my iphone Library, and I don't want them to play when I have my phone on shuffle. How an I remove unwanted songs from my phone library?

I share my iTunes accont with my kids. Many of the songs that they purchase, I do not want in my iphone Library, and I don't want them to play when I have my phone on shuffle. How an I remove unwanted songs from my phone library withot affecting their devices?

These are the downsides of a shared library because if you delete the song from your library it will get also automatically  deleted from your kids library. If you want to proceed then please follow this guide: https://support.apple.com/kb/HT4915

You can share the same Apple ID in
Settings > iTunes & App Store > Apple ID: here
But for all other Apple services like:
FaceTime, iMessage, iCloud, etc, one of you should use a different Apple ID.

Never mind, got it to work. I stumbled around on Google for a while and somehow ended up reading things from the 'jailbroken' community. They had easy instructions to get out of Recovery mode. Thanks anyway though!
P.S. For anyone who experiences this, here is the fix: Hold Power and Home in unison for 6 seconds, then power on as normal.

  • Unable to share album with another iPhone user

Earlier today I was able to share an album with multiple users without any issues. I tried sharing the same album with my mom, also an iPhone user, and it shows no pictures are in the album. I unsubscribed her and resent the invitation and still nothing! What would cause this? How can I fix it?

Thanks Helen for the response. At least you can get some of the contacts to work. Absolutely none of mine will. Feel like my phone is cheating me out something it should do. Think I'm going to just have to dump all the Apple products in general because this phone hasn't worked right since I got it.
