"Share Location" link issue

Hi,
I tried using the new Share location feature in the iPhone software 2.2. I am using a 3g iphone. I first dropped a pin in the village where I work and when I clicked Share location, I got an email with the following link:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&q=50.659420,-99.965286%20%28Division%20No.%2017; %20Unorganized%20MB%29
It works just fine. However, when I move the pin in the village where I live, I get the following link:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&q=50.630299,-99.977646%20%28Park%20%28South%29%2 0MB%29
For some reason, this link created using Maps is unreadable by Google Maps. If I reamove the last string: %20%28Park%20%28South%29%20MB%29 right after the coordinates, Google Maps can process it correctly. It looks like Maps can generate faulty links Any idea or similar experience?

Hi,
I suspect the issue is related to your SharePoint configuration, please post to SharePoint forum to get more insights.

  • Locate link browser window in Windows 7 and Outlook 2003

Every time I click on a link in an email in Outlook, a "locate link browser" window appears.  There's a lot of help on the web to fix it for Win XP, but those steps don't appear to work for Windows 7.
Here are some URL's of what I've tried already:
     http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/821692
     http://www.slipstick.com/problems/firefox.htm
(Some of these link refer to the DDE options in the advanced settings, but in Windows 7, the Control Panel's "Set Associations" screen doesn't have any advanced options.)
The "locate link browser" window is asking for an exe file...  so, I pointed the "locate link browser" window to "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplorer.exe" and the window isn't coming up anymore, but it just launches IE and my home page...  not the link that was in the email.  I also tried setting the default browser as Firefox (using the Control Panel's "Set Associations")  .  That works fine.  the links from Outlook emails open fine in Firefox, but when I switch the default browser for the HTTP protocol (using the Control Panel's "Set Associations")  back to IE, it goes back to launching IE and my home page and not the link that was in the email.
Any idea on how to resolve this?

My wife has a VAIO desktop with Windows 7 Home Premium and Outlook 2003... and I have a Dell laptop with Windows 7 Professional and Outlook 2003.  I've never switched my default browser away from IE.  But her computer recently developed the Link
Browser issue and I suspect it occurred when one of our daughters switched association of the default browser to Chrome.  About a week ago, I switched it back to IE.  But the problem has continued.
    1) The .htm and .html associations on her computer are set to IE
    2) The default browser is back to IE
    3) The link in the preview pane of the email message does not work (it brings up Link Browser)
but if you "forward" the message into a message window and then use CTRL+left-click on the same hyperlink, the link works.
There must be secondary association coding that pertains only to the preview pane of Outlook 2003 which gets disrupted by the switch to another default browser... and which does not get reset when you revert to IE.
Does that help someone who can pinpoint the change needed to remove this annoying problem?

  • Map update makes 'share location' disappear!?

I have a Nokia X6. I used to be able to click 'share location' ("dela plats" in Swedish) in the map section and thus put a link to a map at Facebook so everybody could see where I were.
I just made an update of the maps the other day, and 'share location' is not there anymore. How come?
How do I get it back? It's useful.

    EliasGranqvist wrote:
It seems, however, there's a new function called 'check in' on the maps menu, which can be used in a similar way. Is this meant to replace 'share location'?
I expect that is correct but not a feature that I would ever have occasion to use:

  • URL link issue

    Hi
I am trying to create a link in my project to one of our
company intranet pages. I am using a click box and the URL - it
works fine in the Preview from Slide or next 5 slides, but when I
Preview in Web Browser it doesn't connect. Any suggestions as to
    what might be the cause?
    Thanks
    Alex

    Hi Alex
Hmmm, before investigating too deeply, I'm seeing some
familiarity here. For starters, the first link is to a .PDF. It's
been my experience that links to .PDF and Word .DOC files is "iffy"
at best. If you truly copied and pasted the links, I'd first try
removing the %20 from that first link. That's something the browser
normally inserts for a space. So instead of:
    http://wlgweb/Corporat/HumanResources/Staff%20Conduct/EmailInternetUsagePolicy.pdf
    Change it to read:
    http://wlgweb/Corporat/HumanResources/Staff
    Conduct/EmailInternetUsagePolicy.pdf
This may help and it may just be twisting in the wind. But
I'd try that first. I've often seen linking issues arise from that
silly %20. If possible, try to avoid that. I'm guessing here that
it may not be possible to control in your case as someone else may
be in control of those names. I've personally always opted to
either use a mix of upper/lower case names ( StaffConduct ) or
substitution of an underscore where spaces would normally occur (
    Staff_Conduct ).
Other wierdness I've seen when linking to .PDF content:
    * I personally had a different PDF reader (Foxit) installed
as my default. When Foxit was my default reader, PDF links refused
    to open.
    * I think this one is IE specific, but I've also seen it
where if I have a .PDF in the same folder and open that way, even
though the address is totally correct, the first time through, the
link fails. With the totally correct address showing in the address
bar. I simply refresh the page and bingo, the PDF shows! Go figure.
I really don't believe that this one is related to Captivate and
the way it calls the links. My gut tells me it's an IE thing. But I
have nothing to back me up on this.
I'm not sure what to say or suggest for the second link. I
tested it myself and it doesn't work, which tells me that either
the link is simply incorrect, or possibly it's located on an
    intranet site.
    Sincerely... Rick

  • Cant share location in Whatsapp

On my Nokia E7 I can succesfully receive''share location' maps from other phones, even from Android phoned, but I can't upload the to a contact.  Even to an other E7 or from another E7 to my device the share location function is not working.
Hopefully there is a solution for this issue.
    Thanx in advance.

Opening Nokia Maps you see your position?
Maybe GPS satellites signal is low and the phone does not know where are you in that time.

  • File Share Cluster Transfer Issues - Windows 2012 R2 - Two Nodes

    Hi There,
I am having some issues in creating a simple file share on a 2 node cluster.
Each "File Server" is Windows 2012 R2 Standard.
Each server has 4 Nic Ports, 2 are configured as a Control Team and the other 2 as a Media Team.  The media team is specifically for any storage and file sharing traffic, the control team is purely for access to the server via RDC.
The storage is from a NetApp SAN connected via SAS cables to the 2 "File Servers" and transfer speeds to and from that are good (1GB/s)
I have looked at different step-by-steps to get this working, they all are similar to: https://robertsmit.wordpress.com/2012/06/26/clustering-fileserver-on-windows-2012-step-by-step/
The share permissions are configured with Everyone with Full Control.
Once the file shares are all set up, I can browse the shares and any current folders and files.
I can download any files that exist on these shares...
The issue is when I try to put a file on the share from a "client" server (win 2008 r2) or even from the other node (connecting to the file share location as I would on another machine)
I just get the copying dialogue attached, which sits there for about 3-4 minutes and then just finishes with a Network Error.
This only occurs during an upload of a file to the share.
All servers can ping each other, there are no cluster event errors..
Can anyone help, I need to get this fixed ASAP.
If you need more info then please ask.
    Thanks,
    -Tim

    Hi Tim,
Did you run the cluster validation before you create this cluster? Please disable any firewall or AV soft and install the recommended hotfixes and updates for Windows Server
2012 R2-based failover clusters update to narrow down the issue first.

  • Locate link browser window using windows 7 outlook 2003

I have been using windows 7 (64bit) along with outlook 2003 with no problem till today. All of a suddden everytime I click to open a link from within an outlook e-mail message  a "locate link browser window opens" I see lots of issues on the internet with Vista or XP but no specific causes or solutions with 7.

    Hi,
Based on my research, I would like to suggest the following:
    1.    Try to set your browser as Default in “Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Default Programs”:
Change which programs Windows uses by default
    2.    Please also try this:
The Locate Link Browser dialog box appears when you open a Web link in an e-mail message in Outlook 2003
Considering this issue is related to Microsoft Office, if the issue persists, it is recommended that you go to Microsoft Office Forum for further investigation:

    Hope this helps. Thanks.

  • E5 - unable to update/share location

    Hi there
I have the Nokia E5 and have been trying for ages to share my location.  After playing around a lot I checked what software updates are available and updated phone and ovi software, so that is up to date.  However, everytime I try to share my location I get an error message saying 'unable to update location'.  I have no clue why that is and what I need to do to share my location.  Perhaps anyone has an idea what I could try in order to solve the problem ?
    Many Thanks

    Hi
yes, Ovi as in Ovi maps.  I signed up for an account a few days ago and was logged on several times (have never been able to share my location though).  Most recently, however, I get an error message saying 'connection failed', apparently it is trying to log me in automatically as soon as I open Ovi maps.  I have tried to log on manually and it asks me whether I want to go online and then comes up with the menu where I can chose o2 web, wap services etc.  Neither of them seem to work as I get an error message saying 'connection failed'.  I can use internet on my phone though, for example facebook.
Tbh I am not entirely sure whether I am able to find my present location - it shows my present location but that might be because I have been searching for it and added it to my favourites.  I know that means that Ovi found my location... so I seem to be 'connected'?  My A-GPS is enabled, so that should be OK.
I believe I have allowed Ovi to access my facebook.  If I click on 'share location settings' it asks me 'go online to use service?', then the facebook link comes up, it tries  to log me onto my nokia account and then asks me again to select a connection - whatever I chose the message I get is 'operation failed'.
I'm sorry I am not very good at these things; so thank you vm for your patience

  • When I share a link (URL) only Apple computers receive the link. Others such as PCs and Blackberries get the message, but the field which should have the link is blank. Is this normal?  Why can I only send to Apple machines?

when I "share a link" (URL) using the pulldown menu in Safari, the email goes to all addresses I indicate, but only Apple computers receive the link. Others such as PCs and Blackberries get the message, but the field which should have the link is blank. Is this normal?  Why can I only send to Apple machines?

I have had a similar problem with my system. I just recently (within a week of this post) built a brand new desktop. I installed Windows 7 64-bit Home and had a clean install, no problems. Using IE downloaded an anti-virus program, and then, because it was the latest version, downloaded and installed Firefox 4.0. As I began to search the internet for other programs to install after about maybe 10-15 minutes my computer crashes. Blank screen (yet monitor was still receiving a signal from computer) and completely frozen (couldn't even change the caps and num lock on keyboard). I thought I perhaps forgot to reboot after an update so I did a manual reboot and it started up fine.
When ever I got on the internet (still using firefox) it would crash after anywhere between 5-15 minutes. Since I've had good experience with FF in the past I thought it must be either the drivers or a hardware problem. So in-between crashes I updated all the drivers. Still had the same problem. Took the computer to a friend who knows more about computers than I do, made sure all the drivers were updated, same problem. We thought that it might be a hardware problem (bad video card, chipset, overheating issues, etc.), but after my friend played around with my computer for a day he found that when he didn't start FF at all it worked fine, even after watching a movie, or going through a playlist on Youtube.
At the time of this posting I'm going to try to uninstall FF 4.0 and download and install FF 3.6.16 which is currently on my laptop and works like a dream. Hopefully that will do the trick, because I love using FF and would hate to have to switch to another browser. Hopefully Mozilla will work out the kinks with FF 4 so I can continue to use it.
I apologize for the lengthy post. Any feedback would be appreciated, but is not necessary. I will try and post back after I try FF 3.16.6.

  • How do I share a link to a file and have the other person download the file without having to add them explicitly as a member, like Dropbox does?

With Dropbox, I right click on a file within my designated Dropbox folder and choose share Dropbox link.  This copies a unique URL that I can send to anyone to then download that file and that file only.  I do not have to add people to my access list to allow the download.
How do I do this with Oracle Documents?  I have one off large files that I prefer not to send via email, however, I do not want to add everybody in the company as a member to my access list.

There is an option called Public Links which allows you to do this. Select your item and click Share. This throws a pop-up dialog. On the left side of the dialog you may have 3 options - Members, Member Links, Public Links. If the Public Links option is not there, then your service administrator has disallowed them from use. The Public Links option is a controversial one in the enterprise space. DropBox's original offering had no qualms with offering public links because the content was guaranteed to be the property of the dropbox user. However, at enterprise level, the content belongs to the owning enterprise, so service administrators may elect not to allow this feature. This is down to your organisation.
If you see the Public Links option, click on it and the right side of the popup dialog will change. You can specify:
a name for each link you create (so you can keep track of which link is which),
Link Permissions, only the following are available for obvious reasons - Viewer, Downloader, Contributor
Link Expiration Date - a date after which the link will not work
Access Code - a pass code which you can divulge to expected recipients by alternative means of your own choosing. This access code guarantees a measure of security on a link which could otherwise be used by anybody
You can create several public links for the same item, and each of those can have the above settings, so you could have one link for downloaders and a separate link for contributors, for example. Each link can then be sent, either by copy/paste or through the email button to the right of the link. You can also modify the link using the pen icon, so you can unexpire it or reset its expiry date. You can also delete a link using the trash button next to it.
I hope this explains the public link feature.
    Regards,
    Frank.
