Share no longer working without restarting iTunes. Why?

Hey guys.
Once upon a time, I could open a video in QuickTime, select Share > iTunes and the video would appear in my iTunes library automatically after processing. For the past month or two (perhaps since upgrading to Lion), I've found I have to restart iTunes for it to recognise the new import.
Does anyone else have this problem and/or know if there's a fix?

I just figured it out. My computer is wirelessly connected to my network and when it restarted after the Mavericks update it connected to my guest network. I disabled sharing on my guest network, so that was why....lol I guess I should check the obvious things before I ask a question? I am leaving this up just in case someone else makes the dumb mistake I did.....lol

Network Shares no longer work well in iTunes 5

One really cool and probably unnoticed feature of iTunes was it's ability to easily play music over network shares, and with the Keychain, connecting to the shares and playing the music was almost transparent. iPods would download the music off the network share.
Unfortunately now those features have entirely disappeared. First it was the automatic connect to network share when you clicked on a song that was on a share. Now it won't even go to the next song in the playlist, you have to click on each individual song which really blows big.
I'm sure I'm not the only one that has my music on a network share at home to use throughout the house. I really hope Apple will fix this feature because it was one of the coolest features of iTunes IMO.

yes i have tried recreating them in Tiger and they don't work reliably. they work as often as the Panther-created shortcuts work - once in a while.
at the least everyone is learning how to navigate the network, but there are only so many users that can do this without losing their minds.....

Home Share no longer working in Windows iTunes 10.5?

OK, I'm not seeing this problem anywhere else, so perhaps it's just me. I upgraded to 10.5 yesterday on both my Windows 7 machine and my MacBook Pro. Ironically, I also added a new Apple TV device to the loop. While attempting to access my library from my Windows box, it wouldn't show up in Apple TV. I then noticed that it wasn't showing up on my iPad 2 or my iPhone 4, which it previously had. I launched my MacBook Pro's library, and it showed up on all devices. Unfortunately, my Windows box stores all of my music.
I checked all settings under preferences. I have "repaired" iTunes on my Win box. Turned off and turned back on Home Sharing. Reset computer/router, etc. Deactivated/reactivated computer... basically, just about everything I can think of.
What am I missing???

because the select event IS triggered but I in turn receives a 2038
ioError in all browsers running on Mac OS X. Really frustrating as

If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

Use the Yahoo mail app to avoid problems with the regular Apple mail app.

You can create "on-the-go" playlists on the nano.
You can't very well home share from a computer that isn't running. Your Apple TV can connect to your account and stream your purchases from iTunes in the Cloud.
See Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device when you're ready to to pull back your non-purchased media which you presumably haven't backed up elsewhere.

Now playing feature in windows messenger no longer works with latest iTunes

I recently updated iTunes to version 7.1.1.5 but now the "Now Playing" feature in windows live messenger no longer works. I had no problem before the update. Any suggestions, as i find this rather annoying

Instant Messaging no longer works for me..why?

Instant Message came pre-loaded on my iPad 2 when purchased over 2 years ago. Always worked. Ever since downloading IOS7 and related fix-packs, no longer works. Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. Update 4.3.5 has damaged my iPhone 4's 3G no longer works. Any ideas why and how to fix it?

I updated my iPhone 4 last week to iOS 4.3.5 and now the 3G no longer works.
I can connect and use my home Wi-Fi but no longer anyone elses that I was previously linked to.
I've tried restoring my phone twice and still have the same issue.
Is the a fault with the update?

Yes done that several times. Went online with with my service provider, O2. Spoke to a "Guru" sent me an E-Mail with the settings so I could put them in manually incase the reset did'nt work.

Mozilla can't find a valid PDF file to open in a browser, but Chrome or IE work without problem. Why?

The system I'm running is Scientific Linux.
PDF files, I need to open in a browser, are on the file server, but in the same folder as my html files, etc.
So, in HTML I gave the link to some PDF to open it in the browser, however, Mozilla says it can't find the file by the given URL.
Proper permissions to access the files are given.
All is lowercase, no spelling error.
On Chrome, on the same computer, everything works fine.
I've also tested on Windows, still Chrome or IE work without problem.
Any ideas?

I've checked the link, and everything is set to its normal form in my browser.
Otherwise this particular case, the browser has no problems viewing PDF files,
but here, when I try to open the PDF (using HTML code, say,
href="downloads\file1.pdf" where "downloads" is a folder on the same level as the html file) then the error I am getting is this

The requested URL (the name) was not found on this server.

Home share no longer works on iPad after ios5 update.

The home share icon is visible in video application but clicking on movies I have purchased results in an error message - cannot open. The images and info for movies and tv shows also not displayed. ...The problem has now worsened. Pressing the moeshare button to access the itunes library on my macbook progresses to half way and then stops. I have rebooted the ipad, shut down icloud, restarted home share from itunes and even rebooted the wireless router. I have also tried deactivating sinc over wi-fi. None of this work. It is worth noting that home share works on appleTV and that I have not updated appleTV OS for a few months. The next thing to try would be to reboot my macbook that I am not hopeful will achieve anything. I am just letting anyone who is experiencing the same problem know that they are not alone.

Update: After rebooting my macbook - Moves now playing. TV shows bought using a different apple ID account still does not work even though they did before.

Home Sharing no longer working after updating iTunes

After updating iTunes on both my computers to version 10.7, the home sharing feature is now not working. One computer can see and access the other's library but the other cannot see its. I have checked the sharing preferences on both computers. Both have 'Share my library on my local network' and 'Share entire library' checked and neither are set to require a password. I have turned on home sharing from the 'Advanced' sub menu in the menu bar and both use the same Apple ID.
Any thoughts on how I can fix this. I think it is just a bug and should hopefully get fixed but maybe it's just me.

I'm up and running. Spoke with Apple and they had me go to : preferences, network and create a new location. That seems to have reset something. I had to reset all my devices back to my main network that had stopped working. The guest network will not let Home Sharing work, only the main network.
Others have been able to use Home Sharing without clicking "Done" after typing in their password. After you click "Done" the Shared disappears in iTunes.
Apple help people were GREAT!

Older music/TV shows & videos purchased from iTunes store no longer work on PC (iTunes only)

I am having trouble with iTunes on my Win PC and would like some help. It clearly appears to be a software or configuration issue. Essentially all my older music videos and TV shows all purchase from the iTunes store (anything older than 2012) simply will not play with iTunes (but will play with all other Win apps). Here are the details:
1) Running new PC with Win 7 ultimate
2) All media files in one location (iTunes folder) all new tunes and videos are stored there
3) I am running iTunes v10
4) Newly purchased music videos work - older ones (from 2011-2006) no longer play. Same with newly purchased TV shows but not older ones.
5) When file is selected in iTunes it simply does not play them (no crash, no sound, nothing) - itunes is still active and you can select other music, etc.
6) Videos play in Win player and any other windows app applied to them (sourced directly from iTunes to Explorer)
7) Problem did not exist in much earlier version of iTunes (or I would not have purchased them, duh)
8) Problem existed in last few versions of iTunes
9) Problem existing on last PC as well as this new one
9) ALL videos STILL work fine on my ipad and ipods - nothing wrong with those files themselves
10) I have searched online and tried: control panel selections with Quicktime (3D video setting), uninstalling itunes several times, uninstalling quicktime, etc.
11) All tests pass with iTunes diagnostic
