Share OneDrive Biz folder with Customers

Our business model relies upon customers or potential customers sending us data files. Usually in the pre-contract stage , the file exchange is ad hoc and person to person. Usually through email. If a file is too big, we have FTP but a portion of the customers don't have the skillset to use FTP effectively. We get asked if we have drop box or the like.We do have E3 Office 365, and I do know you can create a folder in OneDrive Business and share it with someone by sending an invite to their email address.But the only way that person could get into the folder is by using a Microsoft Account. So obviously that creates a heavy obstacle.How do you approach this? I was thinking of some options, Im not a big fan of either.1 - Each time we need to share a folder create a user account that belongs to us. When sharing a folder with external...

Hi Jarkaos2013,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to share one folder in OneDrive for Business with a SharePoint 2013 online group.
By default, you can only share one folder with users or groups in the local domain. You can create a group in AD, then share one OneDrive folder with the group. However, you are not able to share a folder with a SharePoint 2013 online group.
I hope this helps.
Thanks,
Wendy

  • How can I share the home folder with different accounts on the same mac?

    Hi, here's a question:
    How can I share the home folder with different accounts on the same mac?
    The whole point being not to have to install all my apps, and move all my files each time between users.
    The second thing would be to be able to modify one document on one account, and have it changed on the other account without having to copy it.
    I would like to have a pro and a private account on my mac.
    Thanks for you answers,
    Doug

    Your apps should not be installed in your home folder--they should be in /Applications where every user can access them.
    If you want to share things between users on the same Mac, use the /Users/Shared folder. Keep your home folder private. Trying to defeat the protections on the home folder subfolders just gets messy. I've never bothered to figure out all of the problems associated with it so I can't explain how to do it.
    Even with using Shared, you would need to alter the ACLs on the shared folder in order to allow both users to modify the documents.
    You must create a Group in Users & Groups and put each user in that group. Then create a folder inside /Users/Shared where you want to share the various files.
    Then, add an ACL to the shared folder that gives the group special permissions. on that folder.
    sudo chmod -R +a "<sharinggroup> allow delete,chown,list,search,add_file,add_subdirectory,delete_child,file_inherit,directory_inherit" /Users/Shared/<sharing folder>
    Replace <sharinggroup> and <sharingfolder> with the name of your group and your folder. Then, run the command in the Terminal.
    With that ACL, each user in <sharinggroup> will be able to alter the files created by any user in the group in that <sharingfolder>.
    Essentially, the client OS is not designed for true file sharing among the individual users. It is designed to isolate each user account from the others.

  • How to share the music folder with multiple libraries efficiently?

    Hi,
    Me and my husband use the same computer, but have our own seperate user account on it. We have setup iTunes such that for each user account iTunes points to the same central music folder (on a seperate large disc). So effectively we are sharing the mp3/m4p/m4a files, but not the library.
    So each user account has it's own iTunes library file with playlists, ratings etc. This is all fine, but if either of us adds something to the library (by importing a CD or by purchasing music), it is not automatically reflected in the other library.
    The workaround we found for this is to drag the iTunes folder to the library every time you know that the other user made changes... It works, but it is not very efficient.
    Any suggestions are welcome!
    As a sidenote: for photo's we use Picasa from Google in a similar fashion (shared storage, different libraries) and here it works. When starting, Picasa automatically detects changes in the photo folder and updates the library accordingly.

    You are doing the same thing I do at home. Except we just add the files that have been newly added rather than the whole library each time.
    What we did is decide that all importing from CD will be with one account. This is just to make things easier keeping track of new adds. What we do is CDs that have been added are kept in a rack next to computer. If my wife wants the files all she has to do is add the files from the common storage drive then put the disc in storage.

  • Unable to Share Outlook Task Folder

    I am able to share my task folder with one other office worker. But three others I've tried cannot accept the sharing offer. The button in the sharing message to open/accept the share is grayed out for them. After I send the offer, I can see these individual
    listed in the Properties-->Permissions tab and confirm they have been given at least Read permissions. I've also made sure that I've only shared the task folder with one individual at a time in case the folder can only be shared with one person at a time
    (althought that doesn't sound like a reasonable constraint to enforce).
    We all have the same setup: Windows 7, Office 2010, using Microsoft Exchange Server. At least one of the three individuals was able to share their task folder with me.
    This question was first posted to Outlook.com and was advised to move it to Office.
    Moved post to Office and advised to move it to ExchangesrvClients.

    Hi,
    From your description, I recommend you follow the steps below to open shared task and check the result.
    Open Outlook -> Tasks -> Folder -> Open Shared Tasks
    Hope this can be helpful to you.

  • Command to share a folder with hyphens

    I need to share a folder via cmd for use in a batch file hence the %computername% part. The file is %computername%-scan and is located in the root of c drive and will be shared with a share name of %computername% where %computername% is the pc's hostname to
    a local user which i used in administrator mode.
    net share %computername%=c:\"%computername%-scan" /GRANT:scan,CHANGE
    I used the above command to share it but it is not successful. However, if i remove the -scan from the filename and the command with the quote marks,the sharing works. Is there a special option for sharing a folder with symbols and characters?

    Hello,
    Try this this will work....
    net share %computerName%=C:\%computerName%-Scan /GRANT:UserName,CHANGE

  • Move item between mailboxes / share folder with soap

    Hello,
    I need to move an email from one mailbox to another.
    With the normal client this can be done by sharing the folder and then draging and dropping.
    I want to automate this process with soap.
    I have been able to move email from a normal folder to another with soap.
    However I was not successful moving an email from a shared folder to a normal folder.
    Is this possible?
    Also, is it possible to create a shared folder with soap?
    I found the method acceptShareRequest, which seems to be the method I need to use to confirm the shared folder.
    Thanks and Kind Regards,
    Scott

    Hello Preston,
    From looking at the java example you pointed out, I got just about everything working. Thanks for that.
    The only think I need to do to complete my project is handling folders which are already shared.
    Basically I plan on checking out the ACL of a folder instead of blindly sharing it.
    So I need to inspect the existing ACLs.
    I saw the following code in the java example:
    Code:
    GetFolderResponse resp = new GetFolderResponse();
    FolderType ft = null;
    String id = null;
    // String view = "default account noDisplay fullACL";
    String view = "default account fullACL";
    str = m_item.getFolderTypeString();
    if ( null != str && str.equalsIgnoreCase( "Notes" ) ) {
    ft = FolderType.Notes;
    } else if ( null != str && str.equalsIgnoreCase( "JunkMail" ) ) {
    ft = FolderType.JunkMail;
    } else {
    id = m_item.getId();
    try {
    resp = m_main.getService().getFolderRequest( id, ft, null, null,
    view, m_main.getSessionId(), m_main.getTrace() );
    So I read the code to the effect, if I send a folder id and the view "default account fullACL" with getFolderRequest, I should get the ACL information.
    This however doesn't seem to be working for me.

  • How to share administrator iPhoto library with other users on same iMac?

    How to share administrator iPhoto library with other users on same iMac?

    This is the part I'm referring to:
    If you want the other user to be able to see the pics, but not add to, change or alter your library, then enable Sharing in your iPhoto (Preferences -> Sharing), leave iPhoto running and use Fast User Switching to open the other account. In that account, enable 'Look For Shared Libraries'. Your Library will appear in the other source pane.
    Any user can drag a pic from the Shared Library to their own in the iPhoto Window.
    Remember iPhoto must be running in both accounts for this to work.
    The library stays in the Pictures folder for this.

    I'm trying to share my itunes library with other users on the same mac.  I have tried moving my library to a public folder but when the other user logs in they can't see it in the public folder?

    Presuming you moved the entire iTunes folder to the shared folder the other users need to start their iTunes while holding down the option/alt key and select the iTunes Library.itl file in the shared folder.  Only once should be necessary.  Note that any changes anybody makes will be seen by everybody, so you have to trust each other a lot.
    If all you moved are media files each user will have to add those files to their iTunes library.
