Share overclock #'s Ti4200-VTD8X (8894)

Would you please share with me your overclock numbers? I have the 128mb Ti4200-VTD8x video card. Motherboard is Shuttle KT266A with 1800+ AMD chip. I am running motherboard with BIOS driven optimized settings with no additional overclock in motherboard bios.

I recently built a system (specs below) and installed this card (MSI GF4 Ti4200 VTD8X MS8894, 128MB DDR), and when I try to use Live Update 2 (version 3.33.000, from the CD that came with the card), I get the same message:
"Warning!!! Your Display Card does not support MSI Live Update 2 function.  Note: MSI Live Update 2 supports the Display Cards of MSI only."
I'm using the drivers/BIOS that came on the CD: Driver version 6.13.10.4107, BIOS version 4.28.20.05.11.  I see on the nVidia site that they have the 4109 drivers out now, should I try those?  ?(
I have also made sure to do the suggested modifications to IE (and I don't have PC-cillin installed):
"Note: In order to operate this application properly, please note the following suggests.
-Set the IE security setting 'Download signed ActiveX controls' to [Enable] or [Prompt]. (System default is [Prompt]).
-Disable 'WebTrap' of PC-cillin(R) or any web based anti-virus application when executing MSITM Live Update 2TM.
-Update Microsoft® Windows® Installer"
I downloaded a newer version of LIveUpdate (3.35.000), and installed it (after completely uninstalling the old version), and got the same results.  Nothing on my system is currently overclocked.
Help!

  • GF4 Ti4200-VTD8X(8894) and Live update 2.0

    Hello all
Recendly i bought this graphic card (i mention on the subject). It's much faster than the Asus GF2 Ti i had before and all are working properly except of the updating program called Live update 2.0. I installed it and when i got connected to the server it announced me that the version running on the server is newer than mine and it gave me the option to update it as i did. When i reconnected to the server and asked for updates about my card's bios or driver it gives me the message that my graphic card isn't from MSI. The utility option works fine but as you can understand isn't the important one. As i was ecpecting the same results i got from the live monitor too.
So i would like to ask the moderators of this forum or anyone who could know:
    1) Is my graphic card [MSI GF4Ti 4200 VTD8X (8894) 128 MB] combatible with the Live update utility 2.0 or not? The 3D turbo experience utility works fine on my pc.
2)If i update the VGA bios and driver of my graphic card manualy (without the live update utility) from the MSI web site will i still have the tabs "MSI information" and "MSI clock" on my display properties?
    Thanks in advance

  • Overclocking the MSI Ti4200-VTD8X ?

i just got my Ti4200-VTD8X MS-8894 (good card )and would like to see if it's safe to overclock it.
what would be a fairly safe speed to clock this card (msi Ti4200-VTD8X) to ? , as i would like to overclock it to get a little more speed out of it

Download and install Coolbits and install it to your registry by double clicking it...
Then reboot, open Display properties and you'll see a new entry in the settings menu for the card...enable it..
Then tweak away a little at a time until you start seeing artifacts on your screen, 3DMark2001SE is a good program to test it with...
When you start seeing artifacts then back it off to the last setting that was good and you'll be there!!
    Cheers!! 8)

  • Ti4200-VTD8X (MS-8894) refresh rate problem

    I upgrade my Geforce3 Ti200 VGA to  Ti4200-VTD8X (MS-8894). My monitor is Samsung SyncMaster 955b (19").
My problem is: I can not get refresh rate 1280/1024 85 Hz (This is the recomended rate of this monitor). I have instaled the newest monitor driver.
Ah.. I have a 2nd problem. My OS is Win XP prof.  In the "display properties" window there is a place called "MSI information". In that window nearly all my VGA properties are wrong. It saya my memory is 32MB and SDRAM. AND i can not change the check boxes there. Can you please help me to solve my problems.
    Thank you,
     Dr. Tolga Demir

    drtolga,
If you want to be able to have the hidden functions, create a file with notepad and put this in it.

Save it as agpsetting.reg to your desktop or anywhere you like. Then run it and it will give you all the hidden options from nVidia which include extra Resolution settings for your desktop and overclocking for both the memory and core.

  • Ti4200-VTD8X(MS-8894) Startup Problem

I just recently installed a Ti4200-VTD8X (MS-8894) and am having problems with reliable startup of my system. If I startup the computer cold, the system does not post a video bios or system bios boot message and the monitor indicates there is no sync signal being applied. If I leave the system on for a bit and then cycle the AC power a bunch of times, the system will eventually boot and run perfectly normal. At that point if I shutdown, turn off the AC, wait a bit and turn the AC on again, the system works perfectly normal!
I suspect that it may be a power supply issue, although it is a 300W unit. Does anyone know of a diagnostic I could use to check the supply and confrim it is the problem? Anyone have any other ideas? The motherboard is an ECS K7VTA3.
Also, even when the system is running normally,  the board dos not post a boot message during startup. Is this normal for this card, or do I have a corrupt Bios? The video board I replaced was a Geforce 3 Ti200 and it works fine in the system and does post a message during boot (It is not an MSI card).
The board works fine in an old Pentium 233 MMX system with a 200W supply! It is not as loaded with hadrware as the main system I use. Most peculiar!

  • Slow turn-up of monitor on Ti4200 VTD8x

Does anyone think there is a bad card problem here?  I've built my first pc and the MSI ti4200 VTD8x seems to be having very inconsistent but slow turn-up of the monitor's display. It's slowest after the pc has been off for a long time and is cold. Works quicker on restarts after it has been on awhile.
Sometimes it takes over a minute or two and the actual Windows XP login screen is the first appearance of anything on the monitor.  The monitor has Energy Star and doesn't come out of ready mode and power on until most of the boot process is done. This turn-up seems to be getting slower each day (just built pc 20 days ago). The monitor is a Sony CPD 200es. The monitor had no problems like this on the Dell it was used on before.
I've installed the MSI drivers for XP and everything works great once the display is up. I have an Antec True Power 380W power supply and an Albatron PX845PEV Pro mobo (ti4200 set at AGP4X).  According to the mobo bios, the AGP is getting 1.51 Volts.
Should I be sending the card back or what?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

    Guys,
Thanks for helping out those of us in need.
    To NovJoe:
    1) Try updating your GPU's driver.
I downloaded MSI's latest driver listed (Nvidia 4.1.0.7) and it shows working properly. I did not install the newest BIOS that was on MSI's web. I also loaded the video capture driver from MSI and the "Currently installed programs" list shows both Nvidia WDM Drivers and Nvidia Windows 2000/XP Drivers loaded.
    2) Try throwing in Antec 430watts PSU.
I'd like to keep the new Antec case I just bought with 380W. I don't plan on adding any other HW but a DVD R/W drive next year.
    3) Try updating your mobo's driver inclusive of AGP Gart driver.
I did download and install the newest XP drivers from Albatron and also a BIOS update that installed without any problems.  But I don't know if there was any AGP Gart driver included.  I'll contact Albatron to find out.  What specifically can I ask them to tell me to determine if AGP Gart was included in the XP driver?
    For Richard:
As mentioned above, I believe I loaded all the current drivers available.  That also includes the Intel's latest IAA driver.
Here's the list of IRQs and the shared ones seem to point to the problem.  The MSI card and a USB controller share an IRQ. I have some of the 6 USB port not responding to a MS Sidewinder joystick. Microsoft Catalog says the joystick and driver are XP compitable but, I had to try installing many times before it finally worked (listed as a Human Interface Device) and yet does not show attached to any of the USB ports in the Device Manager listing!?

  • Green vertical lines in 3dmark03 and Temple of Elemental Evil with ti4200 VTD8x (ms-6712)

    Hello,
I was wondering if someone has any idea why I have the following problem:
I purchased an MSI ti4200 VTD8x (MS-6712) video card a little while ago.  I managed to install it with no problems and everything seems a-okay except for specific situations.  I installed the game Temple of Elemental Evil and when I tried to play it, everything seems to work except I get green vertical lines over the entire screen while playing.  Does anyone know what is causing this?
I tried 3dmark03 and I get the same thing on certain parts of the screen during the tests.  E.g. during the first test (the WWII aircraft battle) I get vertical green lines just on the parts of the screen where the exhaust from the engines should be.
    Any ideas?
    Here are my specs:
    Athlon XP 1800
    MSI KT4V-L m/b
    512 megs generic ddr333 ram
    Winxp pro
    DirectX 9
what else do you need to know?
    Thanks in advance,
    Gerby

What is the difference between DirectX apps and OpenGL/SDL apps?  How can I tell the difference?
CPU and ram are not overclocked (again, I don't know how).
I just installed the latest drivers from Nvidia (v45.23) and still have the same problem in 3dmark03.  I also used Driver Cleaner 2 to clean up the old driver files before installing the new driver.
3dmark03 and temple of elemental evil are so far the only apps where I have seen this.
Also, I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it but in 3dmark03 I get very low frame rates in the "Battle of Proxycon" and "Troll's lair" game tests as well (4-10 fps).
Have I not got my BIOS setting correctly configured, maybe?
    Thanks again,
    Gerby

  • Asus P4S8X MB vs. Ti4200-VTD8X issue

I have build a new system with ASUS P4S8X motherboard and MSI Ti4200-VTD8X(MS-8894) card, after several unsuccessful installations of my graphic driver: always got rundll32.exe error when I try to click on either "MSI Information" or "MSI Clock Tabs" button, I came to this forum and read most of the Ti4200-VTD8X related thread, especially the one "Asus MB vs. Ti4200" started by jcander.  It helps, but I still can't fix my problem.
I uninstalled the original driver (41.07 I believe, came with MSI graph card), downloaded and installed nVIDIA's new driver 43.45, when I open "Display Properties", I see "MSI Information" and "MSI Clock Tabs" button are still there (Is this correct?), click either one results the same run error as before, the detailed error signature state "ModName: msicpl.dll", I checked my window directory, couldn't find msicpl.dll file, only a file called msicpl.ini is found there, which seems was created when I install the nVIDIA driver.  I did not run a registry hack as suggested by Razvan (do I have to?), I am afraid of changing registry file.  So I guess my questions are:
    1. Is it correct that two MSI buttons still exist after install nVIDIA driver?
    2. Do I have to run that registry file in order to get it work?
    3. Is there any other step or procedure I missed during the work around?
    Thanks in advance.

    laoguan,
Since you originally installed the MSI drivers and then switched to the nVidia drivers, you need to go in your c:/windows Directory and delete the file msicpl.dll
That will solve the problem with the MSI Tabs.

  • Ti4200-VTD8X - Issue with Win98SE

Just purchased an MSI Ti4200-VTD8X card.  After a clean install of Win98SE I load the VGA drivers from the CD.  At boot up the system will reset or hang with a blank screen after showing the Win98 opening screen.  The system will come up just fine in safe mode and it has no problems in XP Pro.  Any ideas what the iss might be and how to get around it?
    System spec's are as follows:
    2.4 P4, Gigabyte Sinxp1394
    Ti4200-VTD8X 128MB
    1GB of OCZ 3500 RAM
    Seagate 17GB
    WD 80GB
    2 WD 80GB disks (RAID 0)
    PS - Antec 480W

What's kinda strange is that it worked for a few of days.  With this setup, I was trying to find the overclocking limits and as will happen on occasions I trashed Windows.  No problem...I'll just reinstall Win98 and XP...problem is Win98SE now does not care for MSI delivered drivers or the nVidia drivers to be installed now.  I've tried both with and without the delivered Sis AGP driver (both the 1.13 and the 1.15) and before and after updates from MS for Win98.  I can always reinstall and try it again but after going through all the iterations to date I thought I'd see if anyone else is having this issue.
    Thanks for your reply,
    Matt

  • MSI Geforce 4 Ti4200-VTD8X question

does the MSI Geforce 4 Ti4200-VTD8X question video card have a sheet of copper on the back side of the video card?

I don't know because I don't have that video card, but on one of the hardware sites I've been to, it says the backplate is simply too light to be copper and they suspect it's copper-coloured aluminum. I am not sure, maybe someone with the card can check it out.

  • MSI Ti4200-VTD8X

I have recently purchased the MSI Ti4200-VTD8X on 4/21 and received on 4/24 and installed the same day. After installation the card stunk I mean it stinks, it smells really BAD like electronics buring. I have been a PC tech for 10 years and know that smell is not a good smell. Whenever I smell it I know that something has obviously failed and it is usually accompanied by smoke. I have never had a device that smelt like this and still worked properly. I had removed the card to see if anything had melted but it looks fine. The card itself has a slight smell it but the smell seems as though it is coming from the fan. I have friend of mine who had bought an Enermax power supply and had this happen and it stilled worked fine which at the time I thought was very unusual and still works to this day. Has anyone else had this happen? Should I return it to be on the safe side so that damage is not caused to any other components if it does fail?

    BlackAce,
Yep, thats an RMA candidate if I ever saw one!
    Sorry,

Hi everyone, I hope u can help me with this:
I'm planning on buying a MSI GF4 Ti4200 VTD8X (Video In) from the United States which uses the NTSC system for Video, however where I live we use the PAL system for Video. So my question is will I be able to use the Video In feature of the card ?( ?? Do these cards work using both video systems or are there different video versions of the card?
    Thanks in advance!

    bondock,
It is my understanding that they will work with both systems. They do not make them market specific.

  • Which Winproducer comes with the Ti4200 VTD8X???

I can't burn cds with the WinProducer 2.0 that came with my MSI Ti4200 VTD8X video card, OEM.  I have to create a vcd on my hard drive, then burn it with other burning software.  Then the chapter links don't link to anything.  I have an NEC 10X16X32 CDRW, and EZ CD creator and Nero.
    2 questions:
    1.   Which WinProducer comes with the card?  Winproducer 2, WinProducer 2 CD, or WinProducer 2 DVD?  It never specifies which one anywhere I go.
    2.   Is there something I should be doing to get it to burn?  It says authoring was successful when I put vcd files on my hdd, but not when I try to burn.

I was in the Apple Store today (for the Leopard launch) and they are still shipping the old keyboard with MacPros. Surely it's about time for them to update the keyboard on their top-of-the-line model. My wife has this keyboard with her G5 and it is the worst of any Apple keyboard I've used. I'm ready for a new Mac, but I'm not going to spend an additional $50 for a decent keyboard. I guess I can wait a little longer (maybe the miniPro will be out soon).
