Share Printer with WiFi XP Laptop

I have a Mac-Mini w/AirPort Extreme built in, and I have my Lexmark X5150 connected to the USB Port on my AirPort Express, and I want to setup my wifes Dell Laptop running XP to connect and print wirelessly using her built in wireless addapter so we can share the same printer. How do I do this?
Mac-Mini   Mac OS X (10.4.4)   AirPort Extreme w/AirPort Express

I assume you already have printing set up from your Mac Mini to the Lexmark printer via the Airport Express.
For detailed instructions to do the same from your wife's PC, see the article "Printing from a Windows XP PC to a printer attached to an Airport Extreme Base Station or Airport Express using Bonjour" at:

  • How can I share a laser printer with a windows laptop.

How can I share a laser printer with a windows laptop. I can't install software or drivers on the laptop for a USB switch box, but the printer drivers are already installed.
It is a work laptop and printer. There is no WiFi to the laptop, just USB.
Is there a USB switch box that does not need any drivers?
    Thanks
    Julie

    Hi
    Thanks.
I am not able to install any drivers or software on the work laptop and WiFi is not allowed either.
Currently I am swapping cables, but it means crawling under the desk and is a bit of a pain.
I was hoping that there would be a switch box that does not require drivers.
Crawling and banging my head it is, then!

  • I have an IPad 2, 3G WiFi unlimited internet access, How can I share it with my PC laptop?

I have an IPad2 3G WiFi with unlimited internet access, but i want to share it with my PC laptop.
I already have an Iphone with such feature, however I have only 5 Gb by month, I know the easiest way is to interchange SIM cards, but it would make more expensive my phone calls.

With the current iPad you can't, I believe that the personal hotspot function is only available on the new iPad

  • How to share printer with pc?

    Hello,
want to share printer with pc. Thinking about print server, something from dlink products, which are cheap enough.
    Are they compatible with mac?
Are there any other option? (sharing through pc or through mac is not convinient in my opinion).
Thank you very much in advance.

A Printer properly connected to WiFi is like another computer workstation on your Network. It should have a FIXED IP address similar to the other devices on you Network but less than xxx.yyy.zzz.254, and it needs to know the WiFi password (so you have to have entered that password into the Printer at some point). When set up correctly, you can Ping it at its IP Address with Network Utility and it will respond in a fraction of a second.
When you use Add-a-Printer to set up a WiFi-attached Printer, DO NOT use Default Browser. It is an IP Printer, and uses the IP Printer tab and its IP Address to configure. Look in the manual to determine whether it should be IP + Internet Printing Protocol, IP + Line Printer Daemon , or IP + HP Jet Direct Socket.

  • How can I print a doc from my iPhone 4S to a Lexmark Interpret S405 printer with WiFi? Thanks!

How can I print a doc from my iPhone 4S to a Lexmark Interpret S405 printer with WiFi? Thanks!

Unfortunately you need an airprint enabled printer to print from an iOS device. There are some work arounds but they are very complicated and aren't proven to work 100%. From what I understand through rumors they are working on allowing all wireless printers to work with iOS but at the moment that's a pipedream. I don't know how important it is but if you really need to print from iPhone you can find some great AirPrint printers on Ebay for decent prices. Good Luck!

  • Share printer with Windows 7 via Airport Express?

I would like to share a printer with a Windows 7 Laptop via airport express. The Windows 7 Pc does not detect the printer whereas printing from the Macbook Pro works fine. Any ideas?

Hi,  I was searching for the same (my colleague has a windows PC; everyone else here has mac). I have not tested this, since I am working on mac, but it seems like you need to install "Bonjour" for windows.

  • Share printer with XP and Vista

I have an HP psc 2110xi connected to a PC running XP. This PC is connected (hardwired) to a Linksys wireless router. Another PC running Vista is connected to the wireless network. I am trying to share the printer with the Vista PC. Is this possible??????I fear it is not but await confirmation from any guru willing to commit him/her self.........

    hello,
yes, it is possible since your host computer is the XP. make sure the firewall is turned off. try to ping the computer first with each other to make sure that the computers are communicating well with each other.
    go to printers and faxes
right click on the printer driver and click Sharing.
put a check mark on Share this printer.
take note of the share name.
then from your vista computer type \\ xp ip address.
    for example, \\192.168.1.100
the printers and faxes window of the XP will show up.
right click on the driver and click Connect.
    try to print.
    keep me informed please..

  • Share printer with OS 9  - Please HELP!!!

hi, i bought an epson R220 photo printer to my imac running 10.4.6 and i want to share it with a mac running 9.2.2. The two macs are connected already by ethernet.
Can anyone tell me how i can do this???
    Any help much appreciated.
    Daniel.

Unfortunately the USB Printer sharing in OS 9 and the Printer Sharing in OS X are not compatible. Some people are able to successfully use the information in KB 107060, Mac OS X 10.2, 10.3: Sharing a printer with Mac OS 9 computers... but many are not.

  • Epson xp 202 will not print with wifi

using os 10.7.3. Can ping printer ok but print box indicates printer off line. Prints ok with usb cable but not with wifi
    cheers

    Fixed.
Thank you Misery.  As I am juust starting out with Arch I was unaware of PKGBUILD/makepkg system.  You have *greatly* enhanced my Arch experience.
I am, however, still puzzled as to why I got the 'file not found' message from ldd.  I checked dependencies with objdump and installed the one (old)libjpeg it wanted, but ldd still refused to run giving me 'file not found'!

  • New MBP won't print with Wifi HP All-in-one that it cam with from Apple

Hey, all just got a new MBP and the free HP all in one wireless printer.
After installing all the software and drivers I managed to bonjour it through our router or direct through USB.
    Same on my iMAc
However, Wifi will hang for a few minutes , then start to print and then finish on the print queue but the page will be half printer etc.. With USB it prints straight away and complete pages.
Is this a bug in the drivers or what?
    Thanks all,

iTunes, iPhoto, and Safari all use the same protocol for wireless device finding for shared items as the printer. Bonjour may be holding things up, if other items are attempting to share data over the network.

  • New to Mac....sharing printer with wife's PC..help please

    Hi
Duplicate of first ever message posted elsewhere.
I have "Crossed to the Light Side" from PC to iMac.
All OK so far but my wife can't share the printer (Canon MP610 connected via USB) using her windows laptop.
I have changed my system setting to allow sharing.
Her computer see the iMac's IP address but says the driver is not compatible.
Can anyone suggest a solution please (other than divorce as I like her)

  • How Can I Share Printer with 2 Older Macs?

I would appreciate detailed guidance on how to set up printer sharing for two older Macs - assuming that this is even possible in this case. I have the following Macs that work very well independently as well as through a router for internet access.
    1. MacMini, 1.5 GHz, Bluetooth+Airport Extreme (approx. 3 yrs old) running OS X 10.5.2 and using Airport for internet access.
    2. Power Mac G4, 466 MHz (approx. 7 yrs old) running OS X 10.3.9 and connected directly to the router for internet access.
An HP Deskjet 5940 printer was used exclusively with the MacMini, and a Lexmarl Z53 was used exclusively with the G4. The Z53 just reached the end of its life, and thus I disconnected the 5940 from the MacMini and connected it to the G4 where it now works fine.
In spite of all attempts with various settings at each Mac, I have not been able to get any printing done from the MacMini. What detailed settings/connections do I need to make so that I can use that 5940 printer from the MacMini?
    Thanks for your response.

Please note that I reposted my question to the following category where I have already received suggestions:

  • Printer needs restart to print with WiFi

I moved my older G4, with OS 10.4.xx to our kitchen for my wife to use. I installed an Airport card in the computer as I have no hardwire connection in my kitchen. The G4 work fine with the internet, but it will not print to my network printer whenever I take the G4 out of sleep. If I restart the printer, printing works fine, but once the G4 goes to sleep and then awakes, it cannot find the printer on the network. The printer is a Dell Color laser 3110cn. This same compuet worked fine printing when it was hardwired to the network, no WiFi.
    Any ideas?

I found a new clue. I have a portable MacBook Pro and it also has the same printing problem when I connect it to my network wirelessly. I cannot ping the printer either, but my commuters that are hardwired to the printer, but through the same router have no issue with ping or printing. My network is all static IP addresses. I use 10.0.0.xx for all the addresses.
A little more about my network my help figure the problem out:
    I have 4 macs 2 hardwired 2 WiFi
The printer is connected to one of the ports on the my D-Link DI-625 WiFi router.
    Port1 : Another Router wired
    Port2 : Dell Printer
    Port3 : VoIP Telephone
Port4 : Spare for MacBook Pro direct connect.
    WAN Port : DSL Router
    Second Router
Port1 : Connection to WiFi Router above (Port 1)
    Port2 : eMac G4
    Port3 : MacPro
I did have the printer connected to the Second Router, but moved it to the first to see if it fixed the WiFi printing problem, but it did not.
    Hope this additional information helps.

  • I share computer with wife.  We each have a nook.  how do i authorize each of us on one computer?

I need to authorize 2 users on same shared computer (separate win 7 signons) for 2 Nooks.  How can I do this?
    thanks

ADE stores the authorization on a per OS user basis, so as long as there are two seperate OS user, this will work.
I would suggest narrowing down the problem by getting one nook to work with one account.
Assuming you start with your wife's account:
Start with making sure ADE is authorized to the correct account for the OS user (you can check this in the Library menu -> Authorize Computer),
If it's not then you can deactivate ADE by using Ctrl (Cmd on Mac) Shift D, and then relaunch with the correct AdobeID.
Make sure you can view content.
Then make sure you can copy content your wife's nook.
The make sure your wife's nook can view the content.
If you can't then you may need to deactivate and reactivate the nook, using Ctrl (Cmd on Mac) Shift E
After that's working, and only after that's working, log out of the OS user, log in with your ID and lather/rinse repeat with your nook.
Afer you are finished with your account - then go back and double check that your wifes account/ADE/Nook are all still working and you should still be good to go.
p.s. Your problem with #1 is expected if you already have different ADE IDs that you have content authorized to, and you've copied the wrong content to the wrong nook.
pps - Just to make sure - content purchased from B&N does not work in ADE 1.7.2 you will need to use either:
    - Nook for Mac/PC
    - NookStudy for Mac/PC
    or
    - ADE 1.8.2 (currently in public beta at labs.adobe.com)
