Share Screen issues

So my gf and I have been using skype for quite some time now.  We would always use share screen so we can watch movies or help each other out on other things.  A couple of months ago we used share screen so I could watch her play "The Sims" game and it was working perfectly fine.  However, just recently when we tried using share screen so I could watch her play again it wouldn't work.  What would happen is that I could see everything else she was doing when using share screen (we can still watch movies and many other things she does) but the problem is that right when she opens the game up so I can watch her play, the share screen closes.  I don't know what else to do, we're using Macs and we both have our laptops up to date on everything, can anybody help me out?
Thanks,
Carlos Aramayo

Probably a DRM issue. Something is telling your software that a second screen is being used and its not authorized too. http://www.cnet.com/news/hdcp-2-2-what-you-need-to-know/

    Hi,
You can create a shared workbook and place it on a network location where several people can edit the contents simultaneously
Just go to the Review tab, in the Changes group, click
    Share Workbook.
However, not all features and functionalities are supported in a shared workbook. Please review this article for more details:

  • Share Screen does not work well when wifi is turned on.

    Hello,
I'm having a minor little problem with Share Screen among 3 machines, 2 Lion OS mac pros connected with network cable, and a 3rd mbp laptop, also LION. I use share screen a lot and I am unable to connect from my main mac pro to the 2nd mac pro (via an ethernet cable) when wifi is turned on.....actually, I can connect, but it gets stuck on the "Connecting" screen and then 10 minutes later, it connects. When I turn wifi off, then hit Share Screen, the connection and response is very fast.
After several hours playing with Sharing preferences....I think it seems like a network thing. I have checked network preferences, and re-ordered them to prioritize ethernet over wifi, powered off all devices including router, and everything else I can think of. btw, the share screen connection from my laptop to the mac pro is fine, even when wifi is turned on on the laptop.
A simple work around is to just turn wifi off, make my connection, then turn wifi back on. But I'm curious and would like to solve this issue. It started after my 10.7.4 client combo update and has been working fine for several months before that, so I'd like to figure it out. Any ideas?
Thanks for all the help on these boards.

    Nevermind.
I had a failing hard drive (not the OS drive) in one of the drive bays. A couple of days after I posted this question, the drive (which has been at S.M.A.R.T. status "failing" for 6 months completely died, at which point the computer wouldn't even turn on. After removing the drive, everything with the Share Screen works fine, both over network cable and wifi.

  • Share Screen on ARD Does not work unless the user is logged on

Since Upgrading to Lion, I have been unable to get the Share Screen in Apple Remote Desktop fuction working from Any machine. All Clients are on the latest agent of ARD and are completely upto date.
When i try running the task when the clients are at the login screen, They just get a grey bar at the top of their screens. So it is recieveing the share screen task but not updating the image on the client machines.
The only alternative is to get the users to login before we start the share screen task in ARD.  The issue with this is teachers prefer to be able to put work onto the screens before the pupils have a chance to log in and mess around on the machines.
I have tried downgrading to ARDagent 3.4 on the clients, i have also tried turning off remote management and enabling again, like some have suggested.
It would be great if someone has found a solution to this.
    Thanks.

  • Video Not Working & Can't Share Screen

Hello, I am having a slight problem...
What happens is that in my group, I cannot share my screen nor use my webcam, as the video button is greyed out and "Share screen" isn't there. It says I cannot have more than 10 people in the call, but I only have about 5-7 at a time and they can share screens or turn on their webcam; I'm the only one who can't. I already checked my video settings and my webcam is working fine. I also already reinstalled Skype and it's still happening.
What are they doing that I'm not?
    Thank you!~

  • Share screen crash

    Hi All,
Thanks in advance for help. I just bought a new Mac mini. The plan was to use it as a iTunes server for appleTV. I set it up using hdmi connected to flat screen, but planned to control it when necessary from my Mac desktop. Not particularly savvy with computers, but share screen seems simple. I just can't get it to work.
I turned on sharing for the mac mini. The mac mini shows up in my finder and it seems like I can access files, but when I try to share screen it just says "connecting..." Cancel is grayed out and it doesn't show up in the Force Quit menu. I have to reboot.
I used the same admin name and password on both machines. Could that cause a problem? When the share screen password screen comes up it pre-populates with my first name. If I add my last name I get an error. If I simply enter my password I get the infinite connecting loop.
    Any suggestions?
    best regards,
    ralph

incidentally, I've been able to connect to two other macbooks. I just can't connect to the mac mini. Any known issues or recommendations? Thanks again.

  • Why is the Share Screen button missing?  Anybody?  Anybody?

I have a MacBook Air OS X.5.5, MacMini OS X.4.11, and an older PowerPC OS X.4.11 all connected to a local network (the older PowerPC ethernet - other two wireless). I've setup Tiger on both the Mini and the PowerPC to allow Apple Remote Desktop and setup the Access Privileges on both . . . "allow user to do" everything.
Using Leopard on the Macbook Air, I have a "Share Screen" button for the Mini, but I have no "Share Screen" button for the PowerPC. I've tried everything I can think of . . . nothing seems to work to make the button appear . . . Any ideas? Anybody?

    Hi Janet,
Make sure that the File Sharing access is ticked on in Sys Pref/sharing & and that the Screen Sharing access is ticked on in Sys Pref/sharing. (This is only applicable in SysPref OXS10.5)
In Tiger - make sure that in Sys Pref/Sharing/Services/Personal File Sharing is ticked on.
Did you try ticking the 'Guests may request permission to control screen' in access privileges - that may jog it?? I just connected to my laptop on 10.4 in this manner allowing permission at the laptop end, by doing so I knew the connection was available.
Short of that I'd install Leopard on all machines then screen sharing doesn't require the ARemoteDesktop to allow permission - it's replaced by a simple 'screen sharing' button.
You can also share screens via ichat under Leopard 10.5.
The other issue maybe how you have your network plugged - is your router that the PPC is plugged into the same unit that sends the WIFI signal? If there is two devices you may need to bridge the connection - as they are most likely sitting in separate IP strings. If you can plug the PPC into the same device (Airport Extreme?) then do that also. Good luck.

  • Share Screen Feature or Bug?

I've just upgraded two of my macs to snow leopard from leopard. I have two accounts, one is mine, the other is my wife. My wife logged onto the iMac(the remote mac) with fast user switching turned on while my account was also logged on. When i used share screen from my macbook to my remote mac with my account, i got my account screen instead of hers. She continued to use her account with out any interruption from me. I could open apps and do as i please on the imac while my wife did her thing. This is not how it used to be with Leopard. If i used screen share, i would take control of her screen. My question is, is this supposed to happen? its kind of neat that it does this, but what if i want to control her screen? There isn't an option to change this.

    denmoff wrote:
This was an upgrade from 10.5.8 and not a clean install. Perhaps this explains why other snow leopards do not see this issue.
no, that's not it. I also upgraded from 10.5.8.
Also, I have ARD installed on both machines and in system preferences "Remote Management" is configured to only allow my account control. (i am not using ARD to login, just "Share Screen")
ah, that could be it. this could be a new feature of ARD not available without it. I don't have ARD so can't verify this. Apple is known to move some more advanced screen sharing features to ARD. they actually stripped off a few features from regular screen sharing and moved them to ARD in one of 10.5.x updates. so this would not surprise me greatly.

  • Share Screen mouse not pointing correctly

I have a MacBook Pro (c. 2007; OSX 10.8.3) connected via DVI port to an HD TV. The system works perfectly when I am using a Bluetooth mouse or an iPhone remote control app.
However, when I Share Screen with another computer, the mouse pointer does not display in the correct position. For instance, when the TV is on and showing the connected computer's Desktop, I can use Share Screen on another computer to control the connected computer's mouse -- but the mouse is in a different location on the TV from the Share Screen computer. I have to use my unconnected computer's touchpad while watching what's happening on the TV.
Basically, the mouse shows up on the TV in the correct position, but it shows up several inches to the left when viewed using Share Screen.
I have turned Overscan on and off, with no change. And messing with the Display options doesn't seem to fix the issue either.
    Any ideas out there?
    Thank you.

Thanks, I tried but that's not the issue.
I turned off Bluetooth on both the TV computer and the unconnected computer, but I'm still seeing the curser on the Share Screen computer several inches to the left of its true position.
    Any other ideas?

  • Share screen button not appearing when remote from office

When I am in the office connected via the local LAN the share screen button in Finder is displayed. When I am at home anc connected via broadband I can still see the server and shares but I have no share screen button. Is there a preference that needs to be set somewhere to enable the remote share screen or is it more likely to be a firewall issue with a blocked port?

For sharing the screen of remote computers when screen sharing is enabled and the "Share Screen" button does not show up, an alternative is to launch screen sharing via Safari using the numeric IP address of the remote MAC.  The issue you are having is most likey caused by the presence of one or more firewall in the network path.  Here is a brief video demo on using Safari to launch screen sharing...

  • TS4196 Share Screen not available

I have tried to use the "Share Screen" function in Messages beta, but I notice that the option is shaded out.  When I asked someone to send me an invitation to share their screen from iChat, I do not appear as available to them.  My setting show I'm available. ??

    Hi,
    No.
Apple effectively let AIM or rather seems to give AIM the Apple IDs so that when you go to either https://settings.aim.com/ with @mac.com names or try to "re-register" and name at the registration page  you will get a message about the name being in use.
At the AIM registration page the full name of the account is technically [email protected]
However in most cases the username  is normally what you use in AIM capable messaging apps.
It is possible to activate the name as email as a separate step.
Currently you may have older @mac.com names from Apple as well as @me.com and @icloud.com issued by the iCloud registration process.
In Messages and iChat 6 all these variants will work.
However in iChat 5 and earlier version only the @mac.com names will work due to this Dual Login that the last two version make to me.com as well as AIM.com that allows the password to be "read".
    Summary.
You can't "re-register" an Apple ID as AIM are already aware of it.
AIM can't "see" the password until iChat tells them they can look.
In iChat 6 and Message this includes and extra step that is created by the app also logging in to Me.com and this then confirms that AIM can "read" the password.
AIM names can be any other email if you wish your name to be that email. [email protected] for example  ([email protected] for another).
However creating a new name and to show it will be a name that is @Aim.com but this suffix is rarely used in any app - relying on the username only part.
It can be made to be an active email as a separate step.

My question is that if I am using Mac and another friend of mine is using Ipad mini and her skpe isnt working and we want to share screens how can we do it through Ichat? Since on facetime screens cant be shared!

    Hi,
    You can't.
Messages - the replacement for iChat in Mountain Lion and beyond will  do Screen Sharing  but only to the accounts it did in iChat 5 and 6  (actually it includes iChat 4 as well)
That is to say in earlier version of iChat you could login to AIM and Jabber servers as well as enabling the Bonjour option to chat on your LAN.
All these will do Video and Audio only chats which in turn means they will Screen Share.
At iChat 6 an Yahoo option was added but it can only Text chat (it can't even send Files or Pics)
This means only the Internet able accounts that login in to AIM or to a Jabber server  can Video and therefore Screen Share.
The iMessages account will Invoke FaceTime if you use the Video icon during text chat.  (I.e. it is not Video inside the app like the AIM or Jabber accounts can do)
    NOTE.
AIM includes Apple Issued Apple ID as Valid AIM Screen Names.
Google Mail ID s can be used and Google Talk IDs with Messages as they run a Jabber server.
Facebook allow you to create a Chat ID (Facebook Chat ID) which is also a Jabber server.

  • Share Screen during presentations

I'm looking to the community to see if anyone else can replicate an issue we are seeing.
    Steps to replicate:
Open Remote Desktop (tested with both 3.8 and 3.7.2)
Use the Manage... 'Share Screen' feature to present your display on at least one other client. (Your screen shows on the client now)
On the admin system, open PowerPoint or Keynote and create a default presentation. Create one slide with some sample text. Present your slide-show full screen.
Within 2 minutes, the ARD ForcedView client will crash and return to the desktop on the client.
You can cancel the screen sharing task and re-connect and it will start up again, and crash within 2 minutes.
All test systems are running Mavericks (10.9.5)
The version of the admin Remote Desktop doesn't seem to matter.
Clients which are running ARD 3.7 do NOT have this problem. Only clients which have updated to 3.8.2 update are showing this problem.
We have tested with a variety of Mac hardware, and even different buildings with different network setups with the same results.
Can anyone else confirm this behavior?

I have also test with Yosemite on the client system with the same results.

  • Share Screen Crashing on MAC?  Firefox?

Only just recently on my MAC and Firefox that has always worked- anytime I do SHARE SCREEN, the whole application/program crashes and offers no solutions.

Thanks Nitin... it is a little difficult as I am trying to assist this person with Lightroom issues by remote. I have established he has 10.6.8 on his iMac. I think it just crashes with no report but I will ask again tomorrow as we are working on a 5 hour time difference.
So even his Safari is ancient.
I did get him to update Flash and restart.
Maybe I will get him  to update the OS first to Yosemite... but even that is difficult as the user is not so computer literate...
Anyway I will respond again tomorrow and many thanks for your quick response.
