Share to Apple Device Failing
Hello,
I am trying to share a project to Apple Device 1080. The project previously shared fine to DVD from within FCPX. Now when I try to share to Apple Device it runs for hours then fails. Usually there is no message that it has failed it just stops. One time I did get an "Error -50" message, but don't know what that means?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. This project is for a funeral and I need to get it done as soon as possible.

The – 50 error covers a lot of possibilities. Often it means invalid media – including render files. Turn off BGRendering. Select the project. From the File menu, Delete Project Render Files (all). Export a small section as a master file without rendering. If it works, try the full project.

I have a MacBook Air, OS X version 10.9.3, running Mavericks, with 1.7 GHz and 8 GB memory. I'm running FCPX 10.0.8.
I've had no problems rendering and exporting all sorts of movies and short clips over the last few months, however every time I try to export my last clip, this message shows up after the clip is 10% done exporting: "The share operation Apple Devices 1080p has failed QuickTime Error: - 50"
I've already clicked on "prevent app nap" under Get Info for FCPX.
Does anyone have any idea what's going on, or can offer a solution to this?

Seems likely to me that either one of the files in your timeline is giving you trouble or a render in your timeline is giving you trouble. I sometimes randomly run in to export errors with transitions or titles. Sometimes removing the effect/title from the timeline, deleting the render files or copying and pasting the timeline in to a new project can fix it. -

Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.

Share to Apple Devices just fails
Using FCPX 10.0.3, whenever I try to share a project with an Apple Device it opens the Share Monitor and then says "Failed" - how do I get it to work (shares with Compressor just fine)?
I have this problem too (as do others). I get a funny error message, and when you go into the log it says (amongst a lot of other stuff) this:
<log tms="350490911.925" tmt="02/09/2012 09:35:11.925" pid="52252" msg="CJobControllerServer::tickleService: we haven't heard from service (long list of numbers/letters edited out in case it's confidential!) for 3 sec. and connecting failed - the service is down.
I have no idea what a tickle service is...
However, it may still work. If you go into iTunes and import it manually from your shared folder in the project file, it might import. It works for me and they look perfect. -
When I choose Share > Apple Devices > Show Details, it appears you get the exact same results whether you choose iPhone (v. 4), iPad, or Apple TV. Same file size, pixel size, frame rate, etc. What's the point of having them separate like that? If the bit rate were different you'd see different file sizes. Is there some sort of special encoding that is not obvious on the surface?
Also, it seems bizzare that if you follow that path, you have no options for alternate frame sizes (you do in iMovie...). I know you can do all of this in Compressor, but I'm working with teachers who don't have that option available. I believe they still have the Share > Export Using Compressor Settings, so they can use the 540p upload video setting, but nothing smaller. They can also use QT X or QT Pro for more variety but why?
Am I missing something, or are output sizes pretty limited within the confines of the Share menu? Any talk of manual compression settings makes them tic pretty quickly.
Hafken, I totally get a shared setting would be non-customizable without Compressor. My problem is, I don't think there is any way someone who has FCP X (but not Compressor) can get to those settings. I thought the Export with Compressor Settings would let you use the built-in settings and your suggestion would give me the power to stock that with some customs. That would be perfect.
But apparently it can't be done. My students (FCP X, but not Compressor) trying to use that Share method just got an offer to buy Compressor. I could have sworn I saw somewhere that you could use Export Using Compressor Settings without having Compressor (but only with access to built-in settings). I guess I was wrong; it appears it can't be done.

Unable to Share-output to Apple Devices 720
I've attempted to share a 75 minute video to use with iDVD, but I continue to get the following message:
The operation couldn’t be completed. (com.apple.Compressor.CompressorKit.ErrorDomain error -1.)
In other discussions, the suggestion is to update the OS or FCPX to a newer version, but I have OS 10.10.2 and FCPX version 10.1.4.
Any other things I can try?
I was able to Share to Apple Devices on an earlier, different video, and had no trouble.

Improve quality output for apple devices?
FCPX can easlily export your movie for a device. I like those presets. For me the iMac is the device that I use for export. In this way it delivers a decent movie to watch on my mac. But I have the idea that the quality of the video can be improved. I know that via "share" and "apple devices" there are no (or hardly) extra settings to improve the videoquality.
Are there other (concrete) ways (probably via cmpressor 4) to get the best quality for my video to watch on my mac?
Besides that, could the codex X264 play an important part on this issue? Thanks for your time in advance!Under settings there is a button with + sign, click on it and give the copy a name. The settings you can change are primarily under Frame control pad. You can change those setting to better but remember to change to Frame Control of when you are finished. Hope this helps

i already did the Hidding part and later moved the events and projects to the FCP events and projects folder . I still cannot share - keep getting this message "THE SHARE OPERATION 1080P FOR APPLE DEVICES (10 MBPS) HAS FAILED. Quicktime Error -50

Itunes wont open and when re-installed received this msg: Service Apple mob device failed to start. You have insufficent privileges to start system svc. Help?
Download Itunes from Apple.com, not from within Itunes.
Redo the install, following the below procedure. However, when you re-install Itunes, right click and run the install as administrator. For Win 7, you have to hold down the cntrl and shift keys when you right click and then "run as administrator" will be an option.
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (Vista, Win 7 & later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

How do I use the time capsule to share itunes music between multiple apple devices? Also, is it possible to control the music on one device using another, and how do you set this up?
unless i'm missing something, i think you got mixed up, this is easy google for walk throughs
i'm assuming this is the new 3tb tc AC or 'tower' shape, if so, its wifi will run circles around your at&t device
unplug the at&t box for a minute and plug it back in
factory reset your tc - unplug it, hold down reset and keep holding while you plug it back in - only release reset when amber light flashes in 10-20s
connect the tc to your at&t box via eth in the wan port, wait 1 minute, open airport utility look in 'other wifi devices' to setup the tc
create a new wifi network (give it a different name than your at&t one) and put the tc in bridge mode (it may do this automatically for you, but you should double check) under the 'network' tab
login to your at&t router and disable wifi on it
add new clients to the new wifi network, and point your Macs to the time machine for backups -
My family currently shares one Apple ID on multiple devices and has for quite awhile. How do I switch everyone over to their own Apple ID and the Family Sharing without having to erase their iphones and ipads?

I set up individual Apple ID's for my children so that they could have their own Apple ID on their individual iPad minis (gifts from grandparents last year). When I go to iCloud under Settings, I see my Apple ID listed at the top, then my children's listed under Family Sharing. So the device is still using my Apple ID for iCloud, iTunes, etc., correct?
To "assign" their own Apple ID to their own iPad mini, I would need to "Sign Out" from my Apple ID. When I attempt to do so, I receive a warning that all of the Documents and Data will be lost/deleted.
So, instead of doing this, I figured out that I could do what you suggested. Signing in using a child's Apple ID will allow her/him to use Game Center, FaceTime, and Messages just fine. However, using their Apple ID for iTunes & App Store proved to be a problem: Purchased Music and Movies appeared in iTunes, but my Purchased Apps did not appear. Some Apps even disappeared, e.g. Proloquo4Text (a $99 app to help my son speak with his iPad).
So I reverted to using my Apple ID for iTunes & App Store, and I get everything that I want, EXCEPT for the iCloud storage for each Apple ID.
So that's when I started wondering how Family Sharing was really benefiting me ~ It was a lot of work (deleting apps to allow space to download iOS 8, etc) without any benefit that I can see. UNLESS I find a means to allow me to sign in each iPad's iCloud account with a different AppleID, then perhaps restore the Documents and Data from a backup? Would that work?

I was trying to do the latest update on my desktop for my Itunes. I got MSVCR80.dll is missing. I saw a post about deleting all the apple itunes programs, restarting and reinstalling. I tried that. As it was installing a message came up about "Service'Apple Mobile Device' failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start systems services. I did a retry, got the same message, then hit ignore. It went on. Then a message popped up saying "Itunes not installed correctly" Error 7 (Windows error 126)
Now my Itunes program will not open at all. What gives? This is very frustrating and I am not very computer literate to begin with.Hi Iss9243,

Not sure what to do. I've tried a system restore on my computer after the update in hopes of undoing the problem, that didn't work. I've tried to install, the new version of itunes for over two days now and I get to the point where it says "starting services" and it almost get's done and then it gives me that message " Service apple mobile device (apple mobile device) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privledges to start system services." Then it gives me three options to click on "abort", "retry" or "ignore". I've tried to retry over and over and it does no good, I just get the same message. I've tried ignore and the one time it did finish installing itunes, it didn't work, I got error messages telling me that it failed to download properly and I needed to delete the program and download it again. I thought maybe it had something to do with my ipod not being pluged into the computer so I pluged that it and it's still giving me the same message. I just don't know what to do. I'm very frustrated and I would really appreciate it if someone could help me. I'm completely out of ideas.
