Share With Individuals
I ran into a bit of confusion with the Share It With Individuals option. I shared two files with two persons selecting the Share It With Individuals which I understood to mean that only those persons would be able to open. When I looked at the information for each invitee I found that the email of the persons opening the files was not the email address to which the invitations were sent.
The options and associated messages give a very strong impression that only the persons that were sent the invitation would be able to open especially as there is the further property of Reader and Co-Author with Co-Author being able to invite others. I should also mention that I did select the option Only Let Co-Authors Share This File With Others and did define the roles for each as Reader (AKA Make Them). Actually, I did this for the first reader and then had to go back and correct those options for one file when sending to the second reader/invitee but those corrections were made a day or more before the second reader tried to open the files.
This story is running a bit long but are the descriptions, etc., correct if anyone receiving a copy of the URL be that through forwarding or copying the URL into an email, etc., can open the file? Is there or was there supposed to a check to make sure that the email address of the person accessing a file matches the email address to whom the hyperlink was sent? This isn’t a critical issue, I simply want to resolve what appeared to be conflicting information and the files have deleted as they are no longer needed.

The defintiion or explanation of Reader in the Using Acrobat.com and also under the File Sharing is what confused me. I guess that I focused too much on:
Reader
Users with the document URL can read and download the document by signing in to Acrobat.com if the file is not published. Readers can copy the document and share it with others if the author has enabled this permission. Depending on the application, readers may be able to print, download, or export the file.
Only Let Co-Authors Share This File With Others
Allows only co-authors to modify the sharing list. Select this option and click Apply.
There are some other references or descriptions that also support this.

I have Movies on my iMac that I want to share with Apple TV. I have no problem getting the movies to show up and play on Apple TV. However, when I synch my iPhone to to my iMac all of the movies try to synch to the iPhone and this exceeds the available capacity (32) of the iPhone. So the question is, how do I make the movies available on Apple TV but not synch to my iPhone?
I looked around some more on my iPhone and did find a video app. So all is well.

I'm very frustrated. I need to delete photos from my iphone to increase the storage so I can update the operating system. Since first using the phone I bought extra iCloud storage and ensured the photo streaming button for the iCloud was turned on.
Unfortunately it seems to have a mind of its own and will download and share some photos but the majority have not been downloaded.
I've resorted to manually putting them on photo stream (the one you share with friends) so the photos will be on my iPad. It also takes ages for my iphone to put them on the photo stream. It's downloaded one album x3 ..??!!? I've tried deleting the duplicated photos but it's now frozen on me....
I haven't dared delete the photos from my camera roll in case I loose them all and I'm therefore stuck in the situation of being unable to download the new operating system or take anymore photos/download music/apps. It *****!
Please Help!
Are there any other options for me to be able to download my photos when I don't have a computer/laptop? Is there a permanent online storage option I can use?

BeckyAmazing steps you've done so far! The great news is this is very unlikely an issue with your iPhone.
I've run into a similar issue lately as well. I narrowed it down to one song that was causing 30 songs not to sync. I removed the song from the sync list (unchecked it) and all 29 songs were able to sync.
You may be running into a similar issue. This may be a problem with this version of iTunes, an issue with one song or a group of songs; hard to know for sure. It's important to narrow down and isolate the cause. Most imporantly get that music back on there!
The way to narrow down the casue add just a few songs at a time (even 1, just to get that first sync finished). Manually syncing is what you'll need here.
Plug in your iPhone, on the Summary screen (shows a picture of your iPhone, the iOS version, Restore iPhone....; etc). Under the Options area at the bottom choose to Manually Manage Videos and Music then choose Apply in the lower right. The music that's on your iPhone now should be removed from your iPhone now. You're now able to sync music manually.
The link below explains how to drag the songs from the iTunes library on the computer on to your iPhone which will start the sync. Add just one song just to see if you can get 1 of those hundreds of songs on there. If you can, awesome! Keep adding until you find the song or group of songs that are causing this issue.

I am trying to home share with my new MacBook. The music library I am wishing to share is not displaying anywhere on my new laptop under music or library. My computer is authorized and I have tried restarting itunes, etc. Any help/ideas?
Are you using the same ID for homesharing on all devices.
By the way shared libraries don't show up under either 'Music' or 'Libraries'. -
I am trying to home share with my sister. I have it down to where I can copy all the songs I want, but it won't allow me to import them because my iTunes doesn't show the "import" button at the bottom. So what do I do now?
I have reinstalled the drivers. I watched it install the realtec and cirrus drivers. Hovering the mouse over the speaker icon says 'speakers: HP'. They are actually 'Creative'. 'Properties' indicates 'IDT High Definition CODEC' and 'This device is working correctly'.
Driver details gives 'c:\Windows\system32\drivers\dmk.sys'.
There is still no sound, although the little level meter on the control shows a green bar rising and falling.
Obviously, it thinks it's working, but there's no connection to the speakers. They're not muted, either. I checked that too.
Any other ideas?

The bigger issue is that you have been given the answer to this in many different forms and, because you have no technical background, you fail to see what is being shown to you. That is why I have repeatedly suggested that you hire a consultant.

Can I share with Windows Without storing password?
Hello Apple Community. I purchased a Mac Mini and am running OS X 10.8.3 with OS X Server on it. I have enabled Open Directory and File sharring using both AFP and SMB so that I can communicate with both my Apple Laptop and my Windows 8 workstation. However, I am quite frustrated with the need to Share files and folders using SMB (windows) and having to keep a password there for my account and my wifes account. I was hoping that using Open Directory I could use as an LDAP server and just have windows authenticate to that. The only other option I can think of is to create a third account and use it for netwok sharing only. Is there way to share with Windows clients using Open Directory where I do not have to store the password?
Links to articles or suggestions greatly appreciated. I use a mixed environment as there are more game options on Windows then OS X, so saying repace the Windows computer is not an option.

Mounting Remote Shares with the Same Name
I am accessing shares on remote servers and can mount volumes with no problems initially, using command+k and setting the Server Address to smb://ServerNameOrIP/SharePoint. This mounts a volume with the name of the share point. The problem I've run into is at work I need to mount 2 volumes on 2 different servers with the same share point name. These are shared servers, and for unrelated reasons the folder names on either server can not be changed. This doesn't work well for me. It creates the first volume with the name "Share" and a second one that in finder appears to be called "Share" as well, but if I use "Get Info" or in Terminal run ls /Volumes I can see that it actually gets mounted as "Share-1".
Is it possible to change the name of one (or both) of these mounts? Mostly so I can see which one I'm on when browsing though Finder. I changed some settings in Finder so that the title bar allows me to see whether I'm on "Share" or "Share-1" but that doesn't actually tell me what server I'm on. Any ideas?I just discovered this after trying frivolously to get 2 shares of the same name from 2 different NAS drives to auto mount ....
limitation with autofs or something ? it should really be painless, as it is in windows. but it seems on the mac side, OS X won't allow shares with the same name to auto mount .... -

I updated the photos that share with Apple TV but old photos display during music
I updated the photo file that shares with Apple TV, and they display correctly when I play the slide show, but when they play slideshow with music playing it's the old photo file. How do I get the new photos to display during music? Thanks
Not sure what you are trying to do, but the photo is just cached. You might try restarting ATV and see if that will foruce a cache relaod.
What is it you did? Did you update an image, cover art, photo stream? It could also be that what ever you updated it not what is being displayed. For instacne if you updated something in iPhoto, but are pointing to Photostream that will not have an effect. Same problme if you are looking at cover art while the music is playing. -
I have an iPod mini with an audio greeting from my deceased mother, that I want to share with my siblings and grandchildren. How do I do that?
So you want to add this greeting to the Mini? If so, you'll first need to import it into iTunes (assuming it's an iTunes compatible format) and then configure to sync to your iPod.
For now let's just focus on getting it into iTunes as well as making sure we are on the same page here.

I have multiple email accounts. One is a google email and another aol. I have the aol going into my google. I Now Go Lead Generate! Am using outlook on my pc. How can I get my outlook to share with my ipad?
In Mail Preferences/Accounts/each GMail account, set up the SMTP Outgoing Server for each account separately, going into SMTP name/edit/Advanced and specify the Username of each account. The Outgoing servers must be two different servers, authenticated by the Username and Password of each.
Otherwise, the GMail SMTP server will change the from address to that of the account where the SMTP server was setup.

Are your developers solely responsible for it? Do your technical writers own it or review it? How do you make sure it's good?
Right now, my software developers are mostly responsible for writing all the API info and it's of poor quality and really lacking details. I don't mean spelling/grammar-type problems. My developers just don't seem to "get" what information to include, no matter how many guidelines or checklists I give them.
A very simple example is:
* Gets the status
public java.lang.Integer getStatus() {...}With no indication of what status values may be returned and what the values might mean.
How do you ensure that what you write is actually useful? Please help!

Well, concerning the question what a good API documentation should be. Just imagine, you are a programmer and you want to use that API. You need to know how it works. There can be only three ways to find it:
(1) The API documentation
(2) Probing experiments. Even a good documentation may not describe everything. Sometimes, the only way to understand certain things you particularly need may be guessing something, writing a code basing on it and see how it works. Then, guessing something again, more precisely now, and so on. Even a very good documented API (for instance, javax.swing) may require that sort of approach to be able to use it eventually.
(3) At last, when source codes are available, one may look at them and try to understand precisely, what a particular method actually does.
I think the better the API documentation the less one may need to endeavor those two last steps. There is actually a limit about it. Without any proper explanation at all, one may never be able to use a particular API, neither after probing it nor after looking at source codes (that is not to say the sources may be simple unavailable at all).
Concerning how to write the API documentation, that's mostly the question of managing your team. I think, basically, the original source of the ultimate information about everything implemented in the projects are those very programmers (developers) and, probably, some software architects. But those guys normally are not especially eager to write any documentation (especially developers). That your example just demonstrates it. It seems, your programmers just wrote that "Gets the status" for you to make them leave in rest after that. In addition, the programmers normally have such a sort of work and activity that does not match particularly well with the writing literature and doing their main job simultaneously. You should not enforce them to do that!
To write a good documentation, you will need to engage a technical writer. That's normally a guy with some programming background. However, writing some literature is actually what he does the best. (Sometimes, such people do something else about written word beyond the technical writing.) The job of that guy would be to write the documentation. This will take from him (or her) two basic things:
(1) The ability to understand the whole software system (that's where his programming background will be needed!);
(2) To communicate with the programmers who have developed the stuff and to obtain from them all the necessary information they know. That may require some personal (verbal) communication with them, because asking them to write everything again will only result in the same "Gets the status" explanations. However, to be successful in this, the technical writer needs to have some explicit management approval behind him. Otherwise, some of the guys will avoid speaking to him at all (saying they lack the time). So, the management should assign them the necessary priority for such communications.
Particularly big projects may even need to have the whole team of technical writers.
Anyway, writing docs is a hard work. But it is extremely important! The good documentation may both increase your sales and eliminate lots of expense on further support of your customers.
