Shared Actions and Text Animations

I seem to have lost my text animation when I saved my advanced action as a shared action. I am using CP8. It seems like I read something about that, but I have read so much online, I just can't remember where I saw it.
Do text animations not transfer to shared actions? If so, is there something I can do to recreate it?

Copying shared actions and objects with new parameters

Hi All
I have a problem with objects and shared actions. Here is the scenario:
I have a sentence where parts of it are written in an informal way. The user is to tap the words of the sentence she/he thinks are informal, and they become highlighted. The user may click a submit button at any time, and if all the correct words have been highlighted, they receive a correct message.
To achieve this I have given each word two click boxes (one for on and off), a highlight box, and have created shared actions for these to work.
When I copy the group (the two click boxes and the highlight box), the actions are copied too. However, the shared actions parameters still point to the original, and not the copy. So my question is...
Is there a way to copy objects and their associated shared actions, and have the parameters of the shared actions change to match the newly copied objects?

Why can't I get my jpgs and text animation to display properly

Using the timeline, I specified the times that the 4 jpgs are to appear. I also added text animation. When I preview the individual slide, all works well. When I preview several slides in the browser, or publish as a swf, some of my jpgs fail to appear at all, or look washed out, and many of my text animations fail to appear fully. Can anyone help me with this?

Are any of the following objects on the slide?
Button
Click Box
Text Entry Box
If so, these objects automatically pause the slide until they have been dealt with. You need to check the pause point.

APE4 Title and Text Animation

I am trying to animate some multi line titles. I found that the animation, Scalein, only works on a single line of text. Is this correct or am I doing something wrong. The animation worked on a singel line but not on a multi line title.

For working with multiple lines of text and animation, you can create several Titles, each with one line of text. These would be stacked above any footage on higher Video Tracks (VT's). Each single line can then be animated with the same, or different Effects.
Depending on what one needs and wants, another way would be to do the Title with a block (multiple lines) of text, and then Keyframe, say Motion>Position for that Title. An example would be to have the Title begin off-screen and then "move" into the scene from the right, with Moton>Position Keyframes, hold for a period of time, then move out of the screen left, again with Motion>Position Keyframes. You will probably have to grab the right side of the Title and drag it to get the desired Duration.

Adobe Captivate 4 - Flash Movie with Text Animation

I'm working on a project which has a slide which includes a Flash Video.
I'd like to put a Text caption over the video.
I've tried Text Caption and Text Animation.
Neither of these work......
Please let me know if there is some way to do this which I haven't considered or I need to adjust my settings.

Unfortunately, that is not an option. I work for a state government and the computers are locked down for security reasons. Updates are handled by an IT group and pushed out to all state computers. We were running Flash Player 10 and everything worked fine until the Flash Player Update was pushed out as a Microsoft Update on January 8th. There have been subsequent "Security Updates" to the Flash Player pushed out via Microsoft and none have corrected the problem. Even if I could uninstall the current Flash Player and install an older version, it would just be updated to the current Flash Player tonight.

How to add text animator to text layer in script?

I'm a beginner in scripting and trying to create a script to apply set of expression control and text animator.
I want to add text animator property to selected layer, however I keep having error with the codes below.

However, I hit another road block. I tried to add a range selector under the animator group with the codes below and both returned error.

Its seem text animator has different codes for accessing different properties.
I've searched on the Adobe scripting guide and couldn't find the exact code for the property (e.g. ADBE Text Position 3D ).
It would be much appreciated If anyone could recommend a scripting book for After Effects.

Shared Action Problem

I am unable to get the IF part of a Conditional Action to work as a shared action. I have tried several times saving the Conditional Action as a Shared action and putting checks by all Variables and naming them in the shared action, but when I save and look at it, all the IFs are locked in.

Please explain what you mean by how I am showing it as a template. What I did was create a conditional action (that contains many pages) and then clicked on Save as a Shared Action. It then gave me boxes and check marks and I put checks by everything and named things and saved. What was in my screenshot was what I see when I open that shared action.
I'm not sure what you mean by inserting a shared action the normal way. The only way I know to do the shared action is to create the action and save as a shared action. I need help understanding how to create (or insert) the shared actions, I guess.

Use GUI_DOWNLOAD to download data in a file on the presentation server or use OPEN DATASET, TRANSFER and CLOSE DATASET statements to download data to the application server.
Now, I hope the code for data fetching, if required, is already present in the report.

Great Advice given earlier by SuzyQ - I believe the question not asked of you is ---what do you want to pay for the services that you need. I think that it would narrow the groups suggestions if you could narrow your needs.
For example: I need talk and text on 4 phones and some data say, 2 Gig, on only one of the phones. what plan is the best cost for me? You may also need to ask what the cost may be to switch to a different plan. I suspect that there will be no cost within Verizon-but ask anyway.
I do not think that you can have a smart phone on any Verizon plan unless you agree to buy data for that phone. Also, you said that wifi is often available-however, I do not believe that Verizon allows talking over wifi without consuming airtime minutes-only data over wifi avoids your allowance to be impacted.
As most here already know, several other service providers offer wifi-friendly service (talk/text/data) that will provide home/business/restaurant service without impacting your allowance- just not here.
After getting some suggestions here, call 611 and confirm availibility and price.

Resizing text and images with actions and keeping it resized for the next slides, how to?

I searched over the net and in this support section for a solution to my problem, but i didnt find any, so...here I am asking you experts.
Through a particular use of different actions I make a logo "compose" in the first slide of my presentation (the logo is composed by text and images that interact), then in the second slide i make it resize so it goes 50% of its size and moves down like a TV logo, in the corner of the slide, and I want it to stay there for all the lenght of the presentation.
It might be a stupid problem, but I didnt understand how to keep it there, 50% of its size and always in that position. If i duplicate the slide I obviously duplicate the 100%-size-logo, not its 50%-size-version, and if i shrink it in order to make it be 50% of its size the text size doesnt shrink so i have to change the text size manually, but the visual effect is imperfect.
Lets summarize:
slide 1: text appears, image appears, the text and the image move and "compose" the logo
slide 2: the complete logo reduces its size to 50% and moves in the lower corner of the presentation, in the place I want it to be for, lets say, 20 slides
slide 3: i want to have this logo already reduced in size and in its position, in the right lower corner, but if i try to group the different parts of the composed logo and i try to squeeze them the font doesnt change its size, I only squeeze the area that the text occupies.
Some help please guys?

(add: the problem is kind of similar to this: https://discussions.apple.com/message/9179367#9179367 . the idea of making a slide that contains the logo and text in the exact positions they would be after the move and scale actions is good and that was my first attempt, the probem is that it looks impossible to me to create a second "little" version of the logo that looks exactly the same of the first one that i reduced, so i hope there is some way to tell the app to use "the first logo, only resized the way i want", and thats the point where the problem with the size of the text comes out)

The “maintain proportions of window for different monitor
resolutions” property will maintain the proportional size of the front panel
(its x and y sizes) when opened in a different resolution. The front panel
objects will not be resized and will appear larger (and may not fit inside the
front panel) when saved in a higher resolution, and moved to a lower
resolution. You can use the “Keep window proportions” property to achieve the
same results.
To have both the front panel dimensions and front panel
controls scale, you need to have both the above property and the “scale all
objects on front panel as the window resizes” selected. The labels will not be
resized by this.
I tried using both properties on two monitors and noticed
that the change does not occur when the resolutions between the monitors are
different. I had to lower both monitors’ resolution to see the change work
properly.

What is your project type? Responsive? If so, that's why animation is disabled. Animations are usually built in Flash and Responsive output doesn't "do" Flash.

Help animating clips and text

How would I go about animating clips and text the way they appear to move in the above video (made using Motion) in After Effects? What effect would I apply to the clips and text to be able to alter their perspective/angle like that?

You'd just make the video layers into 3D layers and animate them and move the camera around them.
The text can be animated using per-character 3D animation.
Since you're new to After Effects, I strongly recommend that you start here to learn After Effects.

Can shared actions reset with drag and drop?

I'm currently creating an interactive module where the learner will need to drag and drop grey squares to the correct area on the screen. If you see my picture below, I have a possible 20 grey squares needing to be dragged and dropped for each terminal that's on the lower right of the screen capture. I've created a shared action that shows different wires moving for each of the 20 grey squares moving from the upper image to the lower right image of the screen. This is painstakingly time consuming, but worth the effect. The problem I have stems from the drag and drop's "reset" button. The "reset" button helps set the grey squares that are my drag sources to their original positions, but it does not reset the shared actions that correspond to the movement of each grey square. Is there any way I can reset not only the drag sources, but also the shared actions associated with the drag sources? Any help is truly appreciated.

How to export the text animation in Captivate and use it in Flash ?

I have published the text animation as swf and tried to import it into flash as a movie clip but it does not seem to work.

I have type the text " WELCOME" font size 70 using text animation and I want to use this as a movie clip in Flash.
There is in the menu File ---> Export----> to CS5 Flash . This is not working for the animated text.
I also tried publishing as swf and import it into the library of my Flash CS5.5 . This is not working as well.
I have removed the video skining , which means no buttons so that it is less complicated .

Edit Actions and Advanced Actions in some kind of text editor

Is there any way to edit Actions and Advanced Actions in some kind of text editor?
The built-in GUI is fine for little tweaks, but trying to use it for anything real is a almost impossible.
Can Creative Suite open a Captivate project and give access to the Actionscript in the project?
Is there a text file someplace that can be extracted, editted, and put back in?

has the feature to edit Actions and Advanced Actions using a text editor been implemented into the new Captivate 7?
I'm facing the problem that I have very extensive Advanced Actions in Captivate in which I want to change a variable x into a variable y. Doing it manually would take about a day or so.
It would be great if there was some kind of workaround.
