Shared calendar not saving access permissions

I have shared a calendar privately with someone, and I gave them "view only" privileges; however, every time I close calendar on my laptop, iphone, etc. and then open it back up they have "view & edit" privileges. Has anyone else encountered this problem as well? If anyone has found a solution to this problem, your help would be greatly appreciated.

I too am having identical issues. I assume it doesn't have anything to do with making the calendar public, right?
We should be able to share private calendars with others, and preserve our "read only" sharing preference. Can't figure it out.
As soon I close and reopen the calendar sharing preferences, it has switched back to "view & edit" every time.
I'll keep looking for answers to this one!

• ICal - shared calendars not saving settings

I have a user who says he will turn off (uncheck) certain shared cals in iCal and also check ignore alerts on many of them.  Over time, he says they will revert back to all being checked and ignore alerts is unchecked.  We went in and out of iCal several times today after he made the changes and it didn’t happen.  But later in the day, he called and it happened again.  Any ideas why this would be happening?
FYI - iCal syncs to our email server (Zimbra) using CalDAV, but these iCal settings should remain on his local machine.  There is nothing on our email server that should be causing this.
Thanks for any help.

I figured it out myself.

After generate a new key on the Manage Access key page, you can click the clipboard symbol to copy the key to your clipboard, and then paste the key from your clipboard on the SQL Data Sync Client Agent.

• Family Sharing Calendar not "sharing" events among family members

Hi,
I'm hoping someone has a similar issue and can shed some light.
I've setup a Family with myself as the organizer.
We have 2 iMacs, 1 MacBook Pro, 3 iPhones, and 3 iPads used by my three family members.
The "Family" calendar now shows up on all devices but events made on a single device are not showing on any of the other devices.
I've read all I can find and it appears to me that the "Family" shared calendar should sync across all family members without the need to "share" the calendar as we did in the past.
Can anyone confirm that is the case?
As a quick fix I simply "shared" the Family calendar (using email address's of the family members) and it is working, but this is essentially the same way we used to share a calendar.  Just doesn't seem to make sense to me.
Thanks in advance for any insight!
Jim

I am having the same problem. I have done some testing and have found the following:
If I create an event in the Family Calendar on my Mac it shares it with all devices; however, if I create a new event in the Family Calendar on any of my iOS devices it doesn't share with any of my devices including my Mac. This has only been an issue since I upgraded to iOS 8.1.
I hope someone can help clarify if this truly is an iOS 8.1 issue and when they might come out with another update. This is a big problem for families trying to stay up-to-date with each others schedules.
Thanks.

• Family sharing calendar not created

i have set up Family Sharing for two family members and myself.  They accepted my invitatioms and everything appears to be working properly, but a shared calendar wasn't created 'automatically' as promised.  The shard photo album was created and I have already approved two app purchases for my son, but am not sure what to do about the calendar.  Any help would be appreciated.

I had this problem but my iCloud calendars were turned on.
Tried lots of stuff but finally powered down and restarted the device and it showed up just fine.
Keep Calm

Reboot

• Shared calendar not updating

Hello,
I am sharing a calendar with a friend. But if I edit and change the calendar my friend does not receive the updates.
Does anyone have an answer or solution to this problem?
Thanks in advance,
Mike

Hmm, something is wrong then.
The calendars shoukd be updatet and synced almost simultanusly on both your accounts. That is if you have set it up to push updates. Check that.
If you still have troubles, I would try to set it up again. And I would create the calendar at www.icloud.com (I have the experience that things will work better then). Set uo the calendar, click share, set it up as a private calendar and add your friends iCloud email and send the invitation. I think it should be OK then

• Not enough access permissions to sync

When I try to sync my iPad with iTunes, I get an error message that I cannot sync my iPad because I do not have enough access privileges to perform the operation.  How do I fix this?

Hello there, gregg220.
The following Knowledge Base article provides steps for troubleshooting persmissions issues with iTunes:
Trouble adding music to iTunes library or importing audio CD
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1387
These messages occur if permissions are incorrect on your designated music folder or on a folder inside your designated music folder. Permissions are settings that determine who can read, write to, or execute a file or folder on your computer. Every file and folder on your hard disk has an associated set of permissions.
Example: If permissions are correct on your Music folder, but incorrect on the U2 folder inside your Music folder, you would be able to add other music to your iTunes library, but not that new U2 album.
Look here for help in correcting the permissions on folders:
OS X:

Windows XP:

Note: Permissions and privileges for files are different from authorization to play a song purchased from the iTunes Store. Click here for information on authorizing a purchased song to play.

• Calendar not saving events

I've been entering events into my calendar and right after I enter them, it shows the event, then it disappears...then a pause and the event is back for a second...then the event is gone again, for good. I reset my phone yesterday and downloaded the new 3.1, so I'm assuming that might have something to do with it. I tried turning the phone off and still no change. Everything else seems to be working properly.

Can you reproduce the problem? Is there an error message?

• Not enough access permissions to write to my iPod?

When I connect my iPod to my new gateway computer and try to sync it with itunes, it will sync about 30 songs then tell me that I don't have enough access privileges and that I don't have permission to write to my music folder. Syncing works fine on my laptop which runs on XP. The new desktop runs on Vista. This is the exact message I get.

ok, I think I figured it out. I deleted every song from my iTunes library, and moved my copies of physical cd's into another folder, then imported all the remaining music to my itunes library. It is working now. I assume there is some sort of copy write protection on one of my cd's that I copied to my HDD and it wont let me sync it with my iPod.
Anyone know how I can find out which one it is and how to get around this?

• Calendar Not Saving

Whenever I try to put an appointment on my calendar on my Z10 it saves for about 5 seconds and then just disappears. Its just the local calendar on my phone, I have nothing linked to it. I'm running 10.1.0.2019. I tried to find some other posts about this issue and the only suggestion I could find was to restart....tried that and it still does the same thing.
Has anyone else had this problem? Any ideas how to fix it? It's really annoying since my calendar is COMPLETELY useless.

Thanks, but I've done that more times than I can count.  I even completed a hard boot by removing the battery while the device was running.
Inputting the data is fine even up to and including the "save".  As soon as I go back to the calender to review, the date is correct but the time is completely wrong.  The one interesting thing is, all event start times are off by 6 hours - 6 hours late from the correct start time.

• Shared Office 365 calendars not showing up in iCal

We are using Microsoft's Office 365 and have users with a variety of devices and applications (Mac/iCal/Mail, Windows/Outlook, iPhone, Android, etc.).
I am the administrator of the Exchange accounts. I have created four calendars that are viewable by everyone within our organization (just general "company-wide calendars").
Users with Outlook are able to view those shared calendars just fine. However, I'm not able to add the shared calendars with users using iCal.
If I add them as a delegate, they can see all my calendars, but if I just share the calendar, they get a "no access" error.
Here's where I'm setting the shared calendar permissions. I've tried setting them as Reviewer, setting the Default as Reviewer, and setting them as Owner.
Because it works fine in Outlook, I'm wondering if it's an iCal problem. For cross-referencing purposes, here's my issue at Office 365's community: Shared calendars not showing up in Apple iCal

Hi All, after much trial and tribulation, this works for me on BusyCal. It is an app you can get on the apple store.
Calendar should be created then shared with the busycal user. The link does not work, but add exchange account as you would on  Mac Calendar under preference>accounts. The go to the sharing tab and  click plus and type in email of person who shared calendar. It will auto populate. For some reason it does not work under delegation in Mac Calendar
The  key and where I spent 4 days on the phone with apple and office 365, is  that the owner of the calendar has to share their calendar, named  :"calendar" They can just click the permission "show availability only."  Once they do that, any other calendars they have created and added you  as full permissions or details, you can see. I see nothing on their  calendar called "calendar"  Not the perfect solution, but it works. BusyCal is $30
If this does not make sense feel free  to message me or I will respond here.

• Calendar will not let me make a shared calendar the standard

Hi,
I am running Server 4.0.3 on OS X 10.10.2 for my family. I have four user accounts and my user shares a calendar on the server with the three other users. For two of these I could easily make the shared calendar the standard calendar for the server account and delete the default calendar called "calendar" that Server automatically creates.
For one user, however, this is not possible, no matter what I try. I can simply not drag the shared calendar (reading and writing permissions, of course) above the automatically created calendar. So this user would always have two calendars, one that is the actual shared calendar for the family and one useless dummy calendar, which I am unable to delete.
I have looked around a bit about deleting calendars, but everybody seems to suggest dragging the calendar one wishes to delete to another than the first position in the calendar list. This, as mentioned, does not work in my case.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

I have this problem as well (on both of my Macs). I can't figure out what triggers it, because most of the time it works fine, but other times it won't pull up the new mail message for writing. This also happens to me when trying to pull up new Notes to write. When I quit and restart Mail, a new mail window pops up for each time I pushed the button.

• Missing Colours on shared calendar

Hi,
I recently found that a shared department calendar was actually a sub folder shared from a users calendar.
I have created a new replacement standalone calendar and copied in the existing calendar entries.
In Outlook they look both the same, I can see all events, categories and colours.  In OWA however I can only see the colours in the old shared calendar, not in the new standalone. If i click an event i can see that a category has been assigned but I
cannot edit the category or define a colour range.  I have full access on the newly created calendar mailbox. Please advise if you have seen this before and can help.
Thanks
edit- exchange 2010 btw, thanks.

Hi,
From your description, I would like to verify if you can click the "Clear Categories". What's more, please use other browser to check the result. Moreover, I recommend you create a new mailbox and grant it full access permission to this Calendar
and check the result.
