Shared Calendar Requirement

Hi Guys,
We can have a shared calendar created using Exchange 2013 Public Folders or Using SharePoint.
Can some body suggest me which one is the best ?
Also, let me know if you have any web link which gives pros and cons of both the ways.
This is a question from one of our users and we need to justify him why the one we give him is the best choice.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Stan,
As I understand, you are using SharePoint 2013 on premise integrating with Exchange Online or Office 365, and you would like to sync Exchange calendar to SharePoint calendar.
So far I could search, it is not supported, currently it’s not available to sync a calendar from Exchange Online to SharePoint Online or sync a calendar from SharePoint Online to mobile devices. Since the Exchange Online has limited open web services,
we cannot ensure that we can configure a trust between the on premise SharePoint servers and Exchange Online.

  • Permissions required to search a shared calendar?

I can view the shared calendar in my Outlook session, but whenever I attempt a search of calendar items, Outlook defaults back to my own mailbox calendar view and returns results that do not contain results from the Shared Calendar.
I have Editor permissions to the calendar.
    Ideas?
    Jason Meyer

    Hi Jason,
Please check the following settings in Outlook:
    1. Click File > Options > Search.
    2. In the Results part, check Current folder.
    3. Click OK to save the settings.
Then we can search the shared calendar by the following steps:
    1. Navigate to Calendar pane, check the specific shared calendar listed under Shared Calendars.
    2. Uncheck all calendars listed under My Calendars.
    3. In the right top corner of the calendar month view, there is a box which we can type the Keywords to Search Shared -Calendar. Alternatively, we can press Ctrl +E to search it.
Then check whether the issue persists.

  • Can I create a shared calendar on iCal from the New iPad?

My company just gave out iPads for use to all field employees. My coworkers and I currently have an Outlook shared calendar that we utilize for scheduling our work. We can not access the shared calendars on our iPads, therefore I would like to create a shared calendar in iCal that we can all access for sharing our schedule as we were doing on Outlook. Is this possible?
NOTE: The idea is that I would like to use the iPad as the sole resource, instead of carrying our laptops around just to access the shared outlook calendar/schedule. The laptops are outdated junk that requires roughly 20 mins of time just to power up, connect and sign in to our servers...very inefficient.
    Thank you!

I have a bluetooth 2 keyboard from Brookstone, will it work with the iPad?

  • Best practices for office 365 SHARED CALENDAR for whole school / organization

    hi
we need guidance on best practice for setting up SHARED CALENDAR on Office365 exchange server for entire organization (school)of150 staff.
    Requirements
+ all staff should have read only / reviewer permissions on calendar
+handful staff should have editor permissions on calendar
+ the calendar should synchronise custom categories and colors
    Current Solution
    at the moment we have found that a shared mailbox is the best solution because;
    - allusers can add the shared mailbox on outlook 2010as additional mailbox as readonly
    - all the categories & colors for the calendarare automatically synchronised because the color categories are stored within this mailbox.
    - you can edit calendar permissions in outlook to allow some users as "editor" of the calendar.Problem with Current Solution
the problem however is that the users also need to access this...

    Hi Aleksei,
I think Inactive mailboxes in Exchange Online is the feature that you want. This feature makes it possible for you to preserve (store and archive) the contents of deleted mailboxes indefinitely.
A mailbox becomes inactive when an In-Place Hold or a
Litigation Hold is placed on the mailbox before the corresponding Office 365 user account is deleted.
But I'm afraid that it might be impossible to "easily share certain folders or even whole mailbox with people in the company". As can been seen from below articles, this only allows administrators, compliance officers, or records managers
to use the In-Place eDiscovery feature in Exchange Online to access and search the contents of an inactive mailbox:

  • Outlook 2007 Shared calendars problem

    Hi,
We are having a problem with shared calendars in outlook 2007. A colleague went on holiday for two weeks and whilst he was away, he was seeing people accepting new meeting times sent by the PAs but despite being an invitee he wasnt recieving invites and
    his calendar didn't update.
His calendar is shared with the PA, and she changes his appointments as and when required. Until this week, this worked no problem. Now, when she changes events on his calendar, he doesn't see the change, even when re-synched it shows no different.
Occasionally, he will create an event himself - he did this today to show me - he created the meeting, invited the board, they all accepted, and then voila, the event was in the board's calendar (showing as HIS event) but wasn't in his calendar at all.
I'm alright at email and exchange but I don't use and know nothing about outlook calendars (I'm still a strong believer in the Filofax ;))
    Please help!
    Jak

So sorry -- I shut down Outlook and restarted it to find that both add-ins were now present, and everything seems to be working. Unfortunately, I don't know how to delete this thread.

  • Shared Calendar

I am trying to configure Shared Calendar usage, basically according to the section 'Shared Calendar LDAP Lookup Configuration' on the page
    http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/819-2568/6n4rm7fit?a=view .
I have service.wcap.userprefs.ldapproxyauth ="yes" set in /etc/opt/SUNWics5/config/ics.conf, and I find an ACI in LDAP which is almost identical to the second one shown on the doc page. Is there anything else I have missed?
The problem is that calendars subscribed to via Outlook are not given access permission. Calendars which are shared via the UWC work correctly.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
I'm not that familar with the outlook connector (anybody?), but a point of clarification:
Calendars subscribed are not given permission... does this mean that you subscribe to a calendar within Outlook, but when you view the calendar in Outlook you can't see anything?
If you view the same subscribed calendar within UWC you can see events?
Do they calendar logs provide any insight into the problem?
You may want to try logging a support call and trying the latest outlook connector patch (122018-05). This also requires that you apply the Calendar Server patch (116577-33 or above) and Comms Express patch (118540-31 or above)

  • How to Read Outlook Exchange Shared Calendars on iPhone?

My company uses microsoft outlook exchange and I have been using iphone syncing with this outlook exchange calendar. Besides my own calendar, on the outlook exchange, I have access to another shared calendar. I want to be able to read this shared calendar on my iPhone but cannot figure out how to do it. Previously I learned from other postings that iPhone doesn't support it.
The new OS 3.0 support CalDav and I am wondering if this will enable me to read the shared calendars of my outlook exchange on my iPhone. Does anybody know how to do it? If the current firmware solely doesn't support it, might there are other ways to do it with supports of other apps? How about through Google Calendar? Or there are any apps can automatically copy the contents in the outlook exchange shared calendars to my outlook exchange calendar?
Does anybody have solutions? Many thanks!

The shared MS Exchange calendar is ICS format which SHOULD be able to be added as "Add Subscribed Calendar" in the Settings/Mail, Contacts, Calendars/Add Account/Other screens on the iPhone.
I'm tring to add a 2nd Exchange Outlook calendar only and need it to sync over the air.
Just can't find the correct way to get it entered to work? The link sent by Outlook (I'm running 2007) when you send the invite doesn't work and copy/paste to the server name is also a bust. Have tried direct copy paste, cutting off the webcal:// prefix, etc. Just won't authenticate.
No documentation that I can find on either Apple or MS site to validate the exact syntax required.
I can hit the https link provided by MS on my Safari iPhone browser after entering my MS Online ID and access the calendar online. And yes tried several of MS Online IDs that I have as UID/PW in the iPhone config screens without success.
A little more info on my config.
    3gs 32mb
Have exchange acct as primary email with email contacts and calendar working
Have CalDAV link to my wife's Google calendar working
Have several other subscribed calendars (ics) working: US Holidays, AmericanHistory.com, and my TripIt profile.
I DO NOT want to use MobileMe to make this work. Life would be so easy if iPhone would just support multiple Exchange accts!
Funny thing I just noticed...spell check on forum IDs "iPhone" and "MobileMe" lol

  • Access shared calendars on exchange 2007

I'm trying to access shared Exchange calendars on my iphone and I cant see how to do this. Does anyone know how to do this?  If i require a 3rd party app to do this, can anyone recomend one please?
I can see the shared calendars on outlook 2010 and I would expect to see them in the calendar list on my iphone.
    Thanks

Thanks, russcus, you've brought me one step closer to figuring out how to use Snow Leopard and Exchange 2007 together. As we're on the topic here, I need to take a moment to voice why Apple's implementation is very disappointing.
Of your 3 suggestions, #1 should just be working out of the box. iCal should be able to see these calendars- Entourage can. As long as others in the organization have Calendar: Properties: Permissions: "default" set to "reviewer", they've granted read privileges to everyone else in the organization. Pulling up a view of another's calendar is as simple as "Open Other User's Folder", enter email address, verify, use. It's a rare and sad day when I wish Apple's software just worked as well as Microsoft's.
While #2 and #3 will work (I verified only #3), it's far more effort on the calendar owner's part. Everyone who might need calendar privileges must be managed separately, vs the wholesale organization-wide granting Entourage can do. This is a unneeded overhead that causes complication whenever staff changes.
Additionally, the scheduling assistant is less useful than in Entourage. In iCal, the availability of others is boiled down to only free or busy. In Entourage, a mouseover of an event in the Scheduling view provides event title and location data (as long as the event isn't flagged as private). My staff won't like loosing the ability to answer the question "exactly what is user X busy with at this time?" if we were to move to iCal.
If I'm misunderstanding something, please let me know. I'd prefer to not be right on these observations, as they're going to be problems in leaving Entourage for the Apple native suite of apps.
Regarding public folders- they are on Microsoft's list of discontinued features:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa998911.aspx
I'm just speculating, but I doubt Apple put development efforts into supporting a feature that's on the way out.

  • Shared calendars using MS Outlook in Portal

    Hello
We're currently looking at integrating our users' calendars into the portal by using a plugin such as DAVXchg or Collab Data Objects.
We're currently designing some applications that require a shared calendar - e.g. for a particular team.
My question is: if we implement a shared mailbox for the team (which all users can access using their own username and pword), can this be accessed through the portal using one the outlook plugins?  Will SSO be possible?
    Thanks,
    Chris

    Hi,
I believe this mainly depends on the configuration done on the source system. If you give a shared mail or calendar to the users and if they are able to access it with their userid and passwords in your desired way (without portal in the picture), then I am sure we should be able to implement it through portal as well.
The following checklist can help you implement this assuming that it works fine in the above scenario:
    1) There has to be a corresponding user on the source system or you will have to map the portal user to the user on the backend system to pass through the authentication check
    2) Groupware integration is implementated successfully
    3) SSO with logon tickets or SSO with user mapping is implemented
    Hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Sunil

  • Sync shared calendar with Android

    Hello all,
I'm hoping someone has found a solution for this: our office is almost exclusively Mac and iOS and we use shared calendars to communicate our work schedule (which changes often). A key person on the team has a Droid and we're trying to figure out how to allow them to see the shared calendar and hopefully have it update when the iCloud calendar updates.
I've looked at the iCal to GCal web service but that requires the calendar to be public. Does anyone know another way to put a shared iCloud calendar into Android/Google Cal?
    TIA,
    JVK

I am guessing this is still the case with exchange 2007..
If anyone has a work around please share

  • Shared Calendar with owner leaving company.

If someone is leaving a company and they have given me access to their calendar is there a way I can save it so that it does not disappear once they're gone?  I"m assuming I can save it and then reimport it maybe?

    Hi,
If you want to save all the items in the shared calendar, we can copy all the items to a custom calendar in your mailbox or a pst file. However, this requires you are granted at least Reviewer permission. To do this, please follow:
    1. Create a local PST file and a new calendar folder on that PST. Or you can just create a new empty calendar in your mailbox.
    2. Go the shared calendar.
    3. Under View tab > click Change View > select
    List view.
    4. Press Ctrl + A to select all items in the shared calendar. Copy the items from the shared calendar to the calendar folder in PST by simply drag-and-drop.

  • Displaying outlook shared calendar

Hi, I am trying to display a shared outlook calendar on a web
page. I can get my own calendar to display using this:
    <OBJECT ID="Calendar" WIDTH="100%" HEIGHT="70%"
    CLASSID="CLSID:0006F063-0000-0000-C000-000000000046" >
    <PARAM NAME="Folder" VALUE="Calendar">
    <PARAM NAME="Namespace" VALUE="MAPI">
    <PARAM NAME="Restriction" VALUE="">
    <PARAM NAME="DeferUpdate" VALUE="0">
    </OBJECT>
Anyone know how to link to a shared calendar? I am guessing
it has to do with the value attribute in the folder param, but
whatever I am trying is not working!
    Thanks!

I have seen a lot of weirdness with MOSS 2007 calendars syncing to Outlook, but as far as fixes, its normally not too bad. for this particular issue, you might just want to remove the calendars from their outlook and re-add them.
However, normally the most common issue is that outlook will allow users to create calendar entries that are invalid in SP.  i.e. the SP calendar has a required field, but Outlook does not allow users to edit that field as its custom (or outlook lets
you keep the title empty which also causes weirdness in syncs).
I would look and see what columns are required on the list, then export the list to excel and look for any items which have empty required fields.  Either, update those items, or delete them from the calendar, then resync to Outlook and it should be
    good.
There may be something different, but this is the most common thing I see on these issues, let me know if it helps or not.

  • Outlook10 shared calendars, color coding does not work

I've read several discussions, questions and answers here and tried a lot, but the problem does not seem to go away.
I created a calendar with Outlook10, added some color categories for the appointments and shared the calendar with several people. Nobody sees the colors on their computers (it's all green), as if the color categories were personal and for my use only. I
tried to "import color categories" in the data file properties and I set the categories' names as default after erranously changing them (Purple, Red etc etc.) when that didn't do any good, but NO, I'm still the only one seeing in color.
    Help?

    Hi,
In order to see the configured Color Categories, the mailbox owner needs to assign you at least “Reviewer” permissions. This includes the “Full Details” read permission which is required for displaying Color Categories. Please make sure the Calendar permission
    is configured correctly.
Additionally, I noticed that the shared calendar is a new created calendar in your mailbox instead of the main calendar. When an additional Calendar folder exists within the same mailbox and you only want to share this folder, setting the Reviewer
permission on that Calendar folder will not reveal the Color Categories in that Calendar. Once the Reviewer permission has been set on the main Calendar folder, the Color Categories will be shown in both Calendar folders. For more information about it, please

  • Shared Calendar Notifications

    Hello All,
I am having problems removing notifications from shared calendars. Is there a way for individuals to do this or does it need to be done through the systems admin. I can do either. Working with outlook 2010.

    Hi,
According to your description, I am not quite sure about your requirement. What’s the exact meaning about “notifications” in the shared calendar? Do you mean reminders?
Generally, Outlook only supports firing reminders in your own mailbox or default PST file. For a shared calendar, the reminder can’t be displayed. Reminders are available only for items stored in the main calendar:
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/training/see-and-share-multiple-calendars-RZ001030994.aspx?section=8
Therefore, please provide more information about your requirement about why you need to remove notifications from shared calendars and which type of notifications you want to remove from shared calendars. Waiting for your updates:)
