Shared contact - unable to trace who owns it or connect to it.

We have a client running Exchange 2007. Users connect to a shared contact list called "Rolodex". however I am trying to setup an outlook client (2003) and am unable to connect to this shared calendar since I have no idea where it is
located. Is there any way to find this out?

I do not fully understand what you are referring to. Apologies, I am not very fluent with in-house Exchange.
Are you saying to look at something within a working users outlook profile?
Also this is a shared contact list, I mis-posted and put shared calendar.

  • Can Address book view/display personal "shared contacts" from Exchange?

It seems not to, but I'm curious if I'm missing something.
If I add my Exchange account to Address Book, I can search the GAL. That works fine.
But I do not see any "shared contacts" from individual users who (in Outlook on Windows) allow me to see their personal Contacts list.
Is this feature just not there?

I am trying to figure this out too.
    Anyone?

  • Sending to a shared contact group with subgroups fail

    Hello all,
I am hoping someone can help me with this one, as I have researched non stop and cannot find an answer.
    SCENARIO:
Outlook 2010 (with all the latest updates)
    Exchange 2010
    Windows 7 x64
We are a group of 15 users. All 15 of us add a shared mailbox used for communications into our Outlook client so we can access and monitor the entire mailbox, including contacts.
When trying to send a communication to a Contact group that is in the shared mailbox contacts, it will work fine unless there is another contact group within that group (subgroup).  The email will bounce back with the following error:
[email protected] #550 5.4.4 ROUTING.NoConnectorForAddressType; unable to route for address type ##
If you send to a contact group with a subgroup from your own local contacts, it works fine.
If you send to a contact group without a subgroup, it works fine.
If you log directly into the shared mailbox and send from there, it works fine.
This issue appears ONLY to occur when sending to a contact group that has a subgroup within it from a shared contact list.
Based on my investigation, it appears that Outlook is trying to look for the subgroups within the local contact list, not the location of the actual contact group itself. Perform the following steps:
Add an additional (or shared) mailbox to your Outlook profile.
In the shared mailbox contact list, create 2 contact groups. (Test 1 and Test 2).
Add Test 2 into the Test 1 group. In Test 2 group, create/add a contact. (This may easiest be done by the shared mailbox itself)
Ensure you are logged into your original profile, and Right click the Test 1 group and Create->Email.
You will notice right away if you expand the Test 1 group, it will show up Test 2 (Unknown) and if you try and double click Test 2 to see it's properties, it says it cannot find it. If you perform this same step while logged into the shared mailbox directly,
it is able to locate the contact.
Any information I have found on this bounceback references a bug where a link in an email who try to send to a contact using MAILTO instead of SMTP. However, this is not the scenario I am in.
It is currently not feasible to have everyone add all these contact groups into their own contact list, as these groups change all the time.
If anyone has any ideas how this could be fixed, or have maybe other suggestions of how to use and access groups with subgroups for communications without logging into the shared mailbox, that would be great. We are unable to login to the shared mailbox
directly anymore as we are doing away with shared passwords.
    Thanks all

    Hello,
How did you select the recipients when composing email? Did you click the To button and select it from the Address Book or use the auto-complete list? If you select from the auto-complete list, please try deleting the contact group from the auto-complete
    list and then test again.
In addition, since the bounceback error is similar to the MAILTo bug, we may try to install the hotfix to take a chance.

    Hi Top,
Please performing the deleting action as Administrator for testing if it is convenient.
If we can do this via Administrator, it should be an permission issue. Please double check whether we modified the owner's permission.
According to the log said, I found a point "There is not enough memory available to perform the operation."
Can we add a contact via Owner?
Found a KB for your reference:

  • Shared Contacts and Categories issue

I have a user JohnDoe who shared his contacts with user B and user C.
User JohnDoe has uniquely categorized all of his contacts.
User B can see all of the shared JohnDoe categorizations properly.
User C cannot see any of the unique categorizations of JohnDoe, but only her own default set.
Both users B and C have Editor delegated permissions to the
    Contacts of JohnDoe with:
Create items checked, Read items checked, Folder Visible, Edit itmes - All, Delete items - All.
In the Root folder (DataFile) properties of User C - Color categorizations are upgraded.
How can we fix this so that User C can see all of the unique categorizations?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Both user B and user C should be able to see the Categories. There are two things I suspect:
    1. The user C opened JohnDoe's contacts folder in her Outlook before she got the appropriate permission.
    2. The user C's local cache caused the problem.
To verify the problem, we can have the user C modify the shared contacts' categories, check whether the change will reflect to JohnDoe's Outlook Contacts. If no, probably the local cache is out of date or corrupted.
An easy way is to have the user C remove the Shared Contacts folder from her Outlook and re-add it.
One more way, if the user C is using Cached Exchange Mode, have her switch to Outlook Online Mode and check the result. Or if the user C has checked "Download shared folders" from FILE -> Account Settings -> Account Settings -> Double
click on the account name -> More Settings -> Advanced tab, uncheck this option to abandon the local cache, check if the problem persists.

  • Synch Outlook Shared Contacts

I have a user who needs to access her boss's contacts(as well as her own) on her blackberry. Her email etc is handled thru Outlook 2007/Exchange 2007 / BES.  Her Outlook contacts synch correctly but her boss's shared contacts are not being synched to the device. She says that it has been working up until last week.  Any help in getting this to work would be appreciated.

Way old this but still needs correcting.  Above answer is not accurate - you can sync multiple contact Dbs off an exchange server.  Turn off PIM wireless sync for this user in BES then use Desktop Manager to select one or more public folders containing contact info to sync with device along with the users own contacts in their mailbox. In this example I believe that if the Boss's mailbox (and the contacts folder specifically) is shared with editorial permissions for the PA, then if she adds this mailbox to her Outlook profile such that she can see his contacts folder, then she will be able to select them in Desktop Manager. Haven't tried this myself but switching off wireless sync and use Desktop Manager and manual sync'ing is the way to go

  • Steps to deploy Lync for users who own Office 365 E1/E2 licenses, but don't have Office 365 E3, using Office Deployment tool.

After many hours of debugging with Microsoft support the system to install the Lync Client silently can be done with a SINGLE LINE command.  The steps to take are below. It should be an easy next step to put this as GPO installation since
    it is a simple command.
    Comments appreciated.
side question: Why is there no Lync 2013 or Lync Office 365 forum?
Basic steps to deploy Lync for users who own Office 365 E2 licenses, but don’t have Office 365 E3, using Office Deployment tool.
This also applies for other Office 365 service types where the full office suite download is not included.  In April 2015 This was impossible to find online and not know by the Lync support team.
    Steps are:
Download the Office deployment tool from
http://www.microsoft.com/en-in/download/details.aspx?id=36778 and extract it to a folder. For this
example we will use the \\server\sharename
    location.
Extracting it creates a setup.exe file and it show a sample XML file.
    2. Create XML file and give it a name such as LyncEntryRetail.xml
Note: The key is the productID that has to be the “LyncEntryRetail”. Other product IDs will download a version that needs another office 365 license. The productID “LyncRetail” needs an E3 license of Office 365.
    <Configuration>
      <Add SourcePath="\\server\sharename" OfficeClientEdition="32" >
        <Product ID="LyncEntryRetail">
          <Language ID="en-us" />
        </Product>
      </Add>
    </Configuration>
    3. From the folder where you extracted the Office deployment tool, run the following command on the command prompt to download the source files and store them on the shared drive:
     (on single line)
    Setup.exe /download LyncEntryRetail.xml
(This is the name of the XML file created above)
One can also run the same on a server share by using UNC path names such as  (on single line)
    \\servername\sharename\Setup.exe /download
    \\servername\sharename\LyncEntryRetail.xml
(This is the name of the XML file created above)
    4. Run the following command on the command prompt on a machine where you want to install the software: (on single line)
    \\servername\sharename\Setup.exe /configure
    \\servername\sharename\LyncEntryRetail.xml
(This is the name of the XML file created above)
Once you are comfortable that it all works, you may want to edit the XML file if you want to have silent installation and add the following lines.
      <Display Level="None" AcceptEULA="TRUE" />
      <Property Name="AUTOACTIVATE" Value="1" />

  • IOS7 issues with getting unwanted contacts from another person who used to share an iCloud account with me....

I used to share an iCloud account with my sister (mainly for music/iTunes reasons). After downloading iOS7, I got all her contacts so I made my own iCloud account in order to separate our contacts, calendars, etc. Now her contacts are gone from my phone list but when I text, they still show up when I am selecting a recipient. How do I get rid them?

Settings > Photos & Camera > Photo Sharing > OFF

  • Sharing contacts

I was talking to an Apple Store Genius today, and he said I can share my contacts using family sharing.    But checking on this, I'm confused, and would like some guidance.
Right now, all iTunes purchases are using my e-mail address.   It used to use an ID of HowardBrazee, but I needed to change it when some featured needed the e-mail format.   I don't use it for anything except the Apple store.    I don't know how to associate it with an iCloud account - so I haven't gotten my own iCloud account.
My wife has an iCloud account based upon her .mac e-mail address she got years ago.    We share our contacts, our calendar, notes, keychain, & safari settings (I use a different browser when I log in as myself) - using her e-mail/iCloud account.    She has me editing contacts, calendar, & notes, telling me whenever she wants a change.    iPhoto is on my computer, and I periodically copy it over to hers.    Neither of us use mail on our phones - except I enable it when I want to accept a "Find My Friends" request because apparently that is now necessary.   We're retired and typing on phones is much more difficult than typing on real keyboards.    One trouble with this setup is "Find My Friends" sees us both as the same person.
From what the Apple Store Genius said, we should be able to have a family shared contacts (essential), shared Apple Store purchases, but not get my phone mixed up with hers in "Find My Friends" - I wouldn't need to log onto her iCloud account, but we still share our data.    If he is correct, what steps should I be looking at?

    Hi Howard,
That is correct.  You have to make sure your iTunes Settings and your iCloud settings have the correct Apple ID on your iPhone.
    iCloud: Set up iCloud
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2609
    iCloud: Set up iCloud
You set up iCloud on your devices by signing in and turning on the features you want to use on each device. Before you can sign in on your Windows computer, you must first install iCloud for Windows.
If you haven’t yet set up iCloud on your iOS device or Mac, you can set up iCloud without a device and access web-only features on iCloud.com.
Note:    Some iCloud features have minimum system requirements. iCloud may not be available in all areas, and iCloud features may vary by area. For more information, visit the iCloud website.
Set up iCloud on a device:
Follow the instructions on the Set up iCloud website.
Important:    Be sure to use the same Apple ID when you set up iCloud on each device.
When setting up iCloud, you sign in using your Apple ID. If you don’t have one, you can create one while signing in on an iOS device or Mac.
After using your Apple ID to set up iCloud on any iOS device or Mac, you can use all the iCloud.com features on your other devices by signing in with the same Apple ID.
Set up iCloud without a device:
Go to iCloud.com, click Sign up for iCloud, then follow the onscreen instructions to create an Apple ID you can use to sign in to iCloud.com and access web-only features.
    Change iCloud feature settings
If you have trouble signing in to iCloud.com
    Use iCloud.com apps

  • Users are unable to see their own profile photo although everyone else can see it in Lync 2013 client

We have Lync 2013, Exchange 2010 and several AD
    servers in mixed mode 2003/2008.
All user are unable to see their own profile photo
either in the main Lync window, in the settings or in a chat although other user can see that their photo is there and displaying. The user experiencing the issue can go open Outlook 2013 client and will see their photo displaying correctly in the file menu
    (and elsewhere) here.
I have confirmed this happens with any new users I set up as well. We have gone through a fair amount of troubleshooting with other Lync photo issues and simple fixes such as deleting the SIP cache folder etc proves to be ineffective.
Our Cs-ClientPolicy Global is set to websearchonly.
We have "Replicate this attribute to the Global Catalog" set
for the ThumbnailPhoto attribute in AD.
We are also forcing photos from AD only (or no photo) by setting the following:
    "Set-CsClientPolicy -Identity PhotosControl -DisplayPhoto
    PhotosFromADOnly"
and finally we are importing the photo in ad using this PS command:
    "Import-RecipientDataProperty -Identity "Test User"
-Picture -FileData ([Byte[]]$(Get-Content -Path "C:\pictures\testuser.jpg" -Encoding Byte -ReadCount 0))"
The pictures being uploaded are under 10KB in size.
I have followed many threads and will provide any information I can to help find the problem. Thank you in advance.
EDIT: I have also tried the following but with no success: https://knowledge.zomers.eu/misc/Pages/How-to-fix-your-photo-not-showing-up-in-the-Lync-client.aspx

    Hi Jdentremont,
Lync client gets user photos by first querying the Address Book Web Query (ABWQ) service on the server, which is exposed through the Distribution List Expansion web service. The client receives
the image file and then copies it to the user's cache to avoid downloading the image each time it needs to be displayed. The attribute values returned from the query are also stored in the cached Address Book Service entry for the user. The Address Book Service
deletes all cached images every 24 hours, which means that it can take up to 24 hours for new user images to be updated in the cache on the server.
To troubleshoot your problem, please follow the steps below:
    1.  Navigate to
     “X:\share\1-WebServices-1\ABfiles\000000000\000000000” folder. (ABS file share)
You should see some photo files in this folder as the following screenshot.
    2. Delete all the files in this folder.
    3. On test PC, delete local cache files.
    %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Lync\[email protected]
    4. Sign-in Lync with the test account.
    5. Go back to the ABS file share, check if there is any Photo file in the folder.
    Best regards,
    Eric

  • Outlook Shared Contacts Sync Issue

**Before i start, i posted this in the Outlook section and was told to post it the Outlook for Exchange section.. So i posted this in the Outlook for Exchange section and the Moderator tells me to post it in the
Outlook section.. So i'm being thrown in a loop back and forth between two forums.  Please help me either post it in the correct section or help me with my issue.  Links to my posts are at the bottom of this re-post.**
I have a user who adds emails to the "Notes" section of a shared contact.  It has worked in the past.  She now drags and drops the email into the notes folder, it shows that the email was added, she saves the contact, closes the contact,
then reopens the contact and the information/email that was added is no longer there.
Also, when she opens up the contact, on the top of the window it says "This item was not completely updated during the last server synchronization"
On the bottom of the contact's window it says "Last modified by [email protected] on 11/19/2014"  So it doesn't seem to have updated for about 5 months.
The user is on Outlook 2010 - Cached Mode - Windows 7
    We use Exchange 2013

    Hi Allen,
Neither are correct.  They open a contact in their address book and drag the email into the "Notes" section of the contact.  So they do not drag the email into the Notes section of Outlook nor the Contacts section to create a new contact.
There are no errors.  I have a screenshot with an example contact card but i can't add it because it says i need to verify my account.. I'm not sure how to do that.  I already clicked on the verification email.  For example.  An email
to me from Bill titled "company announcement" is dragged into the notes section of in Bill's contact card.  This is so that i can go to my contacts, click on bill's card, and see emails from him that are important saved inside his contact card.
After dragging the email into this location, I hit save and close the contact card.  Usually the email stays there in the notes section but lately when I reopen the contact card, the email that I dropped into the Notes section has disappeared.  Other
emails are still in the Notes section but new ones just don't stay.
Just tried doing a Send/Receive All and same issue.  User is in cached mode because they have a large mailbox.  Can try online mode.  Do you know if the Notes section in the contact list has
    a size limit?

  • Exchange 2010 with Outlook 2007 Shared Contacts with Attachments

We have an Exchange 2010 server. There is only one Exchange server so all roles are on this server.
Found out that sharing contacts between users misses something.
If a user has Attachments or Notes in their contacts we can see via the Attachment column in Contacts that there are attachments.
But another user viewing the shared Contacts of the user above, cannot see if the Contacts have Attachments unless they open each one. The Attachment column states there are no Attachments. Is this how it is? Is it a syncing issue?
The image I have attached is what the user sees accessing a shared contact address book. It shows Notes and the Attachments columns. The contacts with partial words visible in the Notes column should have a Paper Clip Icon as they also have attached items.

    Hi,
There is no related feature in Exchange server to manage Outlook view.
Additionally, I shared my Contact with another user in my Exchange 2010 SP3 with Outlook 2013 environment. And it showed the same results as yours. The attachments icon was not shown in the list view in another user’s Outlook but it appeared in my own Contact.
    Thanks,
    Winnie Liang

ahh, ok - there's a few articles around that will assist.
    I suggest first
you experiment with triggers to familiarise yourself with them:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14220/triggers.htm#CNCPT118
this article here explains the process of putting in some audit processes using triggers:
    http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/9i/CompleteDataAudit.php
it details creating the tables etc and then provides a procedure that will create the trigger text for you for each table you want to audit. it would be good to write your own trigger from scrath in order to learn and understand exactly what's happening, but it's up to you.

  • How can I turn off sharing contacts?

My fiance and I have 1 iTunes account. I updated both of our phones, ipad and Mac with the new update. Now we are sharing contacts, we don't mind sharing everything else, but we want our contacts to be separate. Everytime I turn off the contacts, it deletes the entire contact list including my own. If I delete his contacts from my phone, they are also deleting on his phone as well. Is there a way around this?
    Alicia

    Alicia,
Go into the settings>icloud on the iPhone and select to turn off contacts it will ask you if you want to keep or delete the contacts select keep then you can edit the contacts on the iPhone.
