Shared content Indesign plug-in?

I am trying to use template for Chinese text from http://www.techart.com/downloads/ . I am getting a shared content plug-in required warning. I am on CS4 and the template is also CS4.
please help

The INDT file(s) are CS6. Are you trying to open the INDT or the IDML file(s)?
Edit to clarify. The INDT files, the template files, are CS6.
The IDML files are what you are going to need to open.

Shared Content InDesign Plugin for InDesign CS4 won't open file

Yesterday I discontinued using Adobe CC and went back to using my Adobe InDesign CS4. CS4 is working OK but there is ONE file that won't open. I get the message "Shared Content InDesign Plugin is currently not available on your system". The file will not open. Is there a workaround or how do I get the required plugin?

You get that error when the file was saved in CS5 or later. You can find out the version using the script at Adobe Forums: [Ann] Identify Your InDesign File.
You'll need to export the file to .idml from the newer version to be able to open it in CS4. This is something I normally offer to do, but I'm not available for at least a week, so perhaps one of our other regulars can step up and volunteer.

Does InDesign have Shared Content Like Quark?

We soon will be working on our new catalog that was originally done in Quark. When I and the other designer did this catalog we used Content Sharing in Quark to do the catalog. We had the catalog stored on a server drive that we both could access. This eliminated much of the catalog being tossed back and forth between us to do work on and kept the document clean and up-to-date.
We are now going to switch it over to InDesign. We both use CS3 on a Mac (I also use a PC) and want to use this same type of document sharing in InDesign. Is InCopy the way to go? Is this the same as Content Sharing in Quark? We also did the product graphs using Content Sharing which worked out great. Is this possible in InDesign?
I will be using Q2ID Quark to Adobe plug-in to convert the Quark document ti InDesign. I have used this plug-in for one or two page flyers, but not for a large document like our 128-page catalog. Is there anything I need to know when converting the catalog over? Our catalog consists of images, product graphs (done as text not tables) and style sheets.

Not really sure what content sharing is in Quark, but yes, it sounds like InCopy would be a good solution for you.
Q2ID is an excellent product and does a great job of converting ID files, but as the old saying goes, GIGO.

Shared Content feature for InDesign ?

So, I noticed that another application, that I won't mention the name of, has this cool feature called "Shared Content"

Does anyone know if there are any extensions, plugins, etc that might achieve this same result? Basically, I have multiple layouts for different markets that have much, but not all, of the same merchandise. These layouts reside on separate InDesign files, different sizes, etc.
I'd like to be able to make copy changes ONCE and have them flow through to all copy blocks I have associated with the "master" copy block.

Problem when loading pdf files from Shared Content

When I load pdf files from Shared Content, I got the following problem: "The selected document could not be retrieved, please try uploading the document again."
Anyone knows this?

I don't migrated the program, but installed it from the original installer,
i. e. I first installed Indesign from backup, and then uninstalled it and
reinstall clean from Adobe.

CS4 shared content plugin

I am trying to open a document made with cs6 indesign on my cs4 indesign and it gives me a message about shared content plugin. Where can I find this or is there one? is it possible to open a cs6 document in cs4?

It's a confusing "error" message. InDesign loads the document, inspects the list of 'required' plugins in the file, and compares that against its known list of plugins. Since the "shared content plugin" is either not loaded, or has a lower version number than in the file, ID issues the error. Adobe never thought of simply inspecting the InDesign Version Number in the saved file (at least, not until version 9.0!).
Of course I could send you the plugin. But what good would it do for you? You don't have the rest of IDCS6 that it requires to run ...

Can you now have multiple Itunes accounts sharing content on one computer?

Hi - I was trying to find this information on line but cannot.
The last "big" Itunes update (11.2?) prevented multiple Itunes accounts from sharing content on one computer. Well, you can, but with consequences. For example, my husband purchased a movie rental with his Itunes account on our computer when he logged on to Itunes, but then I could not download any Itunes content for 30 days when I logged on to my account. I no longer purchase any content from Apple because of this. I was hoping this feature has been discontinued – it prevents households from purchasing Itunes. We never pirate or steal any content at all. In fact, this feature forces us out of the Itunes universe to purchase movie rentals and music elsewhere.
Not just trying to complain, really. Legitimately want to find out if this rights policy still exists before we both try to rent or purchase anything from Itunes.

No. The 90 day limit ONLY applies to redownloading purchases from iTunes..
So if she were to redownload purchases from the father's account then she'd have to wait 90 days to redownload form her own account. and the computer can be authorized for multiple iTunes account (pretty sure it's 5) . You don't need to later reauthorize for first account if you authorize for a different account.

Is it possible to link and update external files in a Indesign document when sharing the Indesign file in Creative Cloud with multiple users?

I am new to Creative Cloud, but have been using Adobe software for many years.
Now we are considering sharing an Indesign file with my project group using CC.
The Indesign file contains links to external files (one Illustrator and multiple .txt files); and we export the approved version to an Hi-Res PDF.
These .txt files are currently hosted on our internal server but have not been linked directly: we first copy them over to local desktop and update the links in Indesign before creating a new PDF.
Since these file can be update by different people we would like to keep them outside the Indesign and Illustrator files.
Is it still possible with CC to link directly to the files on our server in Indesign and see if there have been updated?
Or can they also be stored in the CC cloud? Or is there another method?

This will work if you all use the file syncing of the Creative Cloud desktop application and then you use the Collaborate option for the folder containing all the files. Then it will work on each of your desktops.
Links to files will not work in the browser when viewing the InDesign document from https://creative.adobe.com/files.

HT1539 why does the download only show in shared content on my ipad? and can i access the shared content without wifi ( example driving in car?)

I am using the icloud from a pc, and sharing with my ipad ( 1st generation) new to this. I have downloaded some digital copies into my itunes account. On my Ipad one shows under movies and 2 show under shared. Y is this and can shared content be accessed without being contected to my home wifi?

I did a little bit more research, and if I go into iTunes and choose to display TV Shows and Movies as a List, I get a nice, sortable list of movies and shows to which I can add columns. A column that you can add is called "iCloud Status."
This column shows either Purchased or Ineligible for all of the titles. And this is where things get really confusing.
Sure enough, the items that are "missing" from the iPads, iPhone, Apple TV, etc. are the Ineligible items, but that's not the confusing part. What IS confusing is which items are Ineligible.
A good example is my Deadliest Catch collection -- I own the entire season 3 and 4 of DC; season 3 is Purchased and Season 4 is Ineligible. Back to the Big Bang Theory, I have five episodes from Season 4 -- 3 are Ineligible and 2 are Purchased.
It makes absolutely no sense that episodes from the same season of the same show would be a mix of Purchased and Ineligible!

I'm trying to share movies bought on my account with my son and keep receiving the message "to download shared content, your family must have a valid payment method". I already have a credit card linked to my account. Help?

I'm sorry to hear you are having these issues with Family Sharing. If you are getting the "valid payment" alert message when you alreadyt have a credit card on file, you may want to try re-entering the card details on the account, even if you know they are currently correct. I cannot see my family's shared content

I have done everything apple instructed me to do about setting up family sharing. Unfortunately, I still cannot see my family's shared content under purchases. I could not even see their names. However, on their devices, they can see me and they can see my purchases.

Why can't I use character styles in my shared content?

When I try to use a character style in a text box I've identified with a Content Tag, the character style gets applied to the whole text box as a paragraph style would.
I can't even manually make a word bold without it making the whole paragraph bold.
Is this a issue with Shared Content?
I can't imagine I have to make a separate text box to make a bold word, right?
Any suggestions?

But I thought the whole point of shared content was that you could style it separately?
When I draw a new text box on my phone layout and I click the tag for the text I want to share from my desktop layout it fills in the content without any styling.

Can't see shared content on family share

I set up family share for three members. The first two members' (me and my dad) accounts were originally paid by the same credit card and once we joined family share we could easily access each other's shared content.
But, once I added my sister (whose account is originally paid by a different credit card) I could not access any of her shared content (it's not even visible on me or my dad's phones) and nor can she access our shared content.
I have made sure that the "Share My Purchases" option is turned on.
Does anyone have any advice on how I can fix this problem? Is the fact that her separate account used a different credit card in the past, a problem?
