Shared Disk solution for Transaction Logs and JMS?

In a machine failure, two key resources for a clean recovery are the Transaction Logs
          and the JMS Store.
The WebLogic Server Administration Guide discusses moving the Transaction Logs to
a new machine before starting a failed WLS server on that machine in order to achieve
          a clean recovery.
It suggests use of "a dual-ported disk available to both machines."
I'm looking for such a solution.
We currently use Veritas Cluster Server to manage our Database environment, but I
am concerned it is too expensive or too comprehensive a solution for the size of
the Transaction Logs and the complexity of the problem.
Has anyone implemented a solution to achieve high availability of the Transaction
          Logs and JMS Store?
Can you recommend solutions I should be looking into, in addition to Veritas?
          Thanks,

Sully,
OK, I am just about as frustrated as I can get. I'm doing everything that you said, at least as far as I can tell, but all of my Windows machines (two XP, one Vista) are asking me for a username and password and then saying they can't connect.
Any help would be appreciated.

  • Block size in tt for writing data to transaction log and checkpoint files

    Hello,
what block size is TimesTen using when its writing data to transaction log and checkpoint files? Does it use some fixed block size during filesystem writes?

Although in theory logging can write 2 KB blocks in almost all circumstances it will write 4 KB or larger so yes a filesystem with a 4 KB block size is fine for both checkpointing and logging.

  • An SAP Solution for capital planning and Budgeting of Capital Assets?

Is there an SAP Solution for the Planning and Budgeting of Capital Assets?
A solution that provides planning, budgeting, and tracking for capital assets through the entire life cycle of each asset, from the initial request through the final disposal.
The solution needs to be able to run “scenarios.” A scenario contains equipment that may potentially be purchased. Scenario items are used to help determine cost, capacity, and cash flow feasibility.

    Hi
What you suggested is the ideal approach...
However, if they say that the budget allocated to capital purposes (70%) applies to both capital projects and expenses and they would like to control it together, but have reports separately, it is not possible with standard SAP...
If they want to have just one IO for both cap and exp, You can suggest them a work around to capture CAPITAL or EXPENSE in a ref field (XREF1 in BSEG) and you can run KOB1 with XREF1 displayed in it....
In standard KOB1, XREF1 is not displayed, you have to use Exit COOMEP01 to include the fields you want... Add XREF1 to the Structure CI_RKPOS and write your code in the include ZXKAEPU01 of EXIT_SAPLKAEP_001
Without an identifier @ the time of booking the transaction in the system (Either by way of IO or a ref field), you wont be able to generate reports later on

  • How do I create a new account for an iPod that is on an existing account?  My brother and I have shared an account for five years, and now that I'm moving out, I want to create my own account but still want to be able to play the music I've purchased.

My brother and I have shared an account for five years, and now that I'm moving out, I want to create my own separate account but still want to be able to play the music I've purchased over five years.

In order to continue to play and sync the music you purchased with your old account, you'll need to authorize your new computer/iTunes library to do so.  You can do this by choosing Store -> Authorize This Computer and then entering in your old account credentials.
That's all you should need to.  Then just create your own account and start purchasing and using it the same you have with the old one.

  • Need a solution for integration BPM and UCM 11.1.1.4?

    Hi all,
Currently, I am using BPM & SOA 11.1.1.4.
Could somebody advise me a solution for integration BPM and UCM ?
I heard somebody said that need to wait to BPM 11G patch set 5 (11.1.1.6) version, which have basic BPM and UCM integration and haven't to using external API like RIDC or CIS.
    Thanks & Regards.
    Ming Nguyen.

Do not use prebuilt binaries, but compile the package from source with the current libudev.
    sha256sums=(SKIP)
    source=("$pkgname::git+https://github.com/rogerwang/node-webkit.git#tag=nw-v$pkgver")
to build it in the PKGBUILD, use nw-gyp i guess.

  • Disabling authorizations checks for transactions SU53 and/or SU56.

    Greetings.
I seem to remember reading that there was either a system profile parameter or a table entry that can be used to disable all authorizations checks for transactions SU53 and/or SU56.
Any truth in this or is my mind playing tricks on me?

    Hi,
I guess theres is profile param auth/tcodes_not_checked(I guess thats right), this will exclude SU53/SU56 from checks on transaction code.
This can be done using RZ10 and need to restart the system.

  • Airport Extreme with NTFS external HD solutions for both Mac and Windows

I recently bought an apple extreme when friends who have them say you can shared both printers and external harddrives really easily. However, it seems I am unable to share my many NTFS harddrives. I see after searching forums that it does not support NTFS but does FAT32.
One day I will convert all my home laptops to mac's but at the moment I am using XP and Vista for the time being so converting them to the apple format is not an option.
The problem i have is that if I convert them to FAT32 then I will only be be to have ISO's that are less than 2gig in size, an only be able to format up to 30 gig. If I have a 500 gig disk I'll be left with 470 gig of wasted space that cannot be used.
Can anyone suggest a good solution for me? perhaps someone has worked out how to format FAT32 greater than 30gb. or perhaps there is another disk format that would be better to use and can be read/write from XP/Vista PC as well as being recognised by Airport extreme. Any help would be good as I am reluctant to get a refund on it, but will have to if I can get it to work with large files/partitions.

I think I answered my own question. I found this on the web:
    http://www.ridgecrop.demon.co.uk/index.htm?fat32format.htm
Seems to suggest that using this third party exe to format it instead of windows inbuilt one will allow for partitions greater than 32GB. So this looks the way to go. And the 2GB limit per file is just for FAT16 not FAT32 apparently, but even if it is I only have a few iso/video files bigger than 2 gig so will just use a splitter on them.
Hope this is useful to someone else

  • Transaction log and access log

The transaction log (TransactionLogFilePrefix) and the access log are stored
relative to the directory where the server is started rather than where it
resides as with the rest of the log files. Why is this?
    Eg.
I start the server with a batch file contained in
    projects\bat
    My server is in
    projects\server\config\myDomain
When I start the server the access and transaction logs end up in
    projects\bat
while all the rest of the log files (such as the domain and server log) end
    up in
    projects\server
My batch file that starts the server looks like this
    "%JAVA_HOME%\bin\java" -hotspot -ms64m -mx64m -classpath %CLASSPATH%
    "-Dbea.home=e:\bea"
    "-Djava.security.policy==i:\projects\server\config\myDomain\weblogic.policy"
    "-Dweblogic.Domain=myDomain" "-Dweblogic.Name=adminServer"
    "-Dweblogic.RootDirectory=i:/projects/server"
    "-Dweblogic.management.password=weblogic" weblogic.Server
    Thanks for help on this,
    Myles

The same case with me, I sent email to apple support, but got not reply.
The apple status page indicated that every thing is fine now, what a joke.
Many devs are in this situation too, I guess we could do nothing but waiting for their system to come up.

  • Shared Disk Subsystem for Oracle 10g RAC

I am investigating the feasibility of clustering two 220Rs together in an Oracle 10g RAC configuration. Can I use a D1000 disk array for the shared storage between the two nodes? Can you briefly describe how to do it or point me to documentation on how to do it?

    hi dstmark,
can you kindly share some information with me? i am thinking of building up a small lab at home using A1000 to build up an Oracle RAC, as a1000 have 2 scsi port and have a build in controller.
but i am unsure about the detail software requirement, as google return some conflict information.
is SUN cluster would be enough? do i need to get something like Veritas Cluster? which may require a license key....
    thanks for sharing information.

  • Appropriate directory for themes, logs and config files

Hello, I would like to know what would be the appropriate directory to place a application's config directory that contains themes, logs and config files for that application.
I want that directory to be accessible but since ~/Library is now invisible on Lion, that kinda rules it out for accessibility. The only place left now would be ~/Applications, but I don't think it was intended for that.
There is also an invisible config file that contains the path to the config directory and that's what the app uses to know where the config directory is located. The current emplacement of that config file is in the home directory, which I think is not in accordance to Apple's guidelines. So where should I place that file?
    What should I do?
    Thanks

Thanks for the additional info about the Home and Documents directory, that clears a lot of things up. I needed to know that too. Do you know where that documents is located now? http://developer.apple.com/library/mac/#documentation/MacOSX/Conceptual/BPFileSy stem/Articles/WhereToPutFiles.html
Apple prefers you use the system API for these things. Here is one document that explains it.
So even though I won't use NSDefaults because what I am working on is a cross Platform app that is in C, I will put the config file in ~/Library/Preferences and the config folder in ~/Library/Application Support.
Almost everything has a C equivalent. You can use CFPreferences instead. I strongly urge you to use one of the system APIs instead of trying to write your own files. For one thing, the user can put their home directory virtually anywhere they want. For another, Lion is rewriting the underlying architecture with the new screen sharing and iCloud. If you use the system APIs, your program will work properly with any new technologies or custom network settings.

  • Solution for Slow Open and Save As Dialogs under 10.4.4

I don't know how many others out there may be experiencing this, but...
I noticed that -- after updating to 10.4.4 -- I started getting really long delays when accessing Open and Save As file dialogs -- I mean, sometimes it would take 5 to 15 seconds for the dialog to appear!
I did a lot of troubleshooting, and finally hit upon the solution a couple of nights ago:
    It's the Desktop iDisk!
Going into the .Mac Preference Pane and turning off "iDisk Syncing" has totally eliminated the slowdown.
I think it has something to do with DiskMirrorAgent, since that has frozen on me a couple of times and prevented logoff until I force-quit it.
    'Hope this helps.

    Hi Matt,
One can always manually mount the iDisk when needed, and it still syncs, albeit in real time, and kind of herky-jerky.
As for the slowdown when multiple items are mounted, I believe I'm describing a different issue, related to DiskMirrorAgent. If and when you get this slowdown (with desktop iDisk syncing enabled), check Activity Monitor, and you'll see DiskMirrrorAgent sucking up most of the CPU time for the time it takes before the dialog appears. My record time was about 25 seconds.
As for slow Open and Save As dialogs when multiple items are mounted: I customarily have several external FireWire drives mounted, and often a couple of CDs and/or DVDs (I produce a radio program, and have several optical drives), and I have had no Open or Save As dialog slowdowns since at least 10.3.x, maybe earlier.
Even when the dialog opens to a directory on a CD that has spun down, the opening time on an Open or Save As dialog is nearly instantaneous for me, suggesting that Mac OS X 10.4.x is doing a good job of caching the data.
But I hear you about the "old days," when it used to take forever to get a dialog to appear, just because a CD was mounted! Maddening!

  • Can I use Airport TimeCapsule's internal hard drive as a network-based backup solution for both windows and mac?

Does the following scenario work??? :-
A Windows PC is connected to Airport TimeCapsule (ATC) wifi.
A Mac is connected to the ATC wifi.
The Mac's Time Machine software is set up and automatically backs up to the internal HDD.
The Mac can browse files on the internal HDD, and drag and drop files to and from.
The PC can easily see the internal HDD as a device on the network. The PC can drag and drop files to the internal HDD. The PC can read and write to the files that the MAC has placed on it. The PC has some automated backup software installed, which recognises the ATC internal HDD as a backup storage device.

You are right.. you cannot partition a TC.
    Nor can you use NTFS..
And you can corrupt the TM backup but you can do that from Mac just as well.. the TC is better with one disk used for data or TM and another disk.. a USB plugged in for the other.
Windows compatible means.. all names are short, no spaces and pure alphanumeric.
You used to be able to set workgroup but Apple haven't bothered with that of late.. there is no upgrade to the airport utility for windows.. although one should be coming. Windows can have issues.. it was no problem on the older 5.6 utility and that still partly works but I have no idea if it will work on the AC model.

  • Best practice for CM log and Out

    Hi,
    I've following architecture:
    DB SERVER = DBSERVER1
    APPS SERVER =APP1 AND APP2
    LB= Netscaler
    PCP configured.
What is the best practice to have CM log and out? Do I need to keep these files on DB server and mount to APP1 and APP2?
    Please advice.
    Thanks

    Hi,
see if you want to save the logfiles of other cm node when crash happens then why u want to share APPLCSF?if the node which is hosting shared APPLCSF gets crashed then ALL the logfiles(of both nodes) are gone, keep same directories and path of APPLCSF on both the nodes,so the CMNODE(A) have logfiles local in its directories and CMNODE(B) have logfile local in its directories....
In the last what ever  i said above was my thinking so follow it or not its u r wish,But always follow what oracle says...the poster should also check with oracle.

Are you asking about difference b/w using standard logging and event handlers? I prefer latter as using standard logging will not always data in the way in which we desire. So we've developed a framework to add necessary functionalities inside event handlers
and log required data in the required format to a set of tables that we maintain internally.
