Shared Document Repository

Hello Friends,
I have installed and clustered wci on two machines but I am not sure how to define a shared location for document repository, In fact I am not sure where and how to define/configure the location for document repository for the documents uploaded via content upload service. any help of this will be really appreciated.

Hi Ryan, thank you so much for so quick response, I have some more concerns and I am sure you will help me on those also -
1 - I have verified the DR service and content upload services are running properly. I wasn't be able to upload files from local system because while submitting document, I am not getting content upload or option to load local document, I am only able to see www option there in document source drop box and tried to upload from web with url and it was uploaded to tmp for time being. Do you have any idea why i am not getting options other than www in document source, I would guess local document will upload to Active directory , isn't it ?
2 - I saw there is another war file called ptupload.war, Is it another way apart from wci portal to directly upload documents to KD ? during deployment of this file i am getting "no :file found" exception. Do you have any idea on this ?
3 - for DR, there id dr.war file to verify KD service but during deployment of this file i am also getting error " no :file found C:\Program Files\plumtree\ptdr\5.0\settings\config\dr-server.xml", I am not sure why it's looking for c:\ however I am deploying from my linux server.
4 - Is there any way to define KD repository on server apart from wci server, I would like to make a common shared repository seprate for multiple wci instances ( running on different servers ) , How would I make wci services on another server and KD directory on another server ?
Thanks in advance!

  • Document Repository

    Hi
I am constructing a web-enabled document repository for storing office documents, pro-formas etc. and I am exploring various avenues for design... and I have a couple of questions that I hope people in here would be best qualified to give feedback on...
I am currently using Tomcat integrated with Apache, using a mySQL database...
I have the option of storing the documents in a database as BLOBs, or in some kind of remote filestore... obviously getting the BLOBs in and out would be slower (or would it?) but which is the 'best' way?
Do servlets have permission to write to remote network drives, or would the documents need to be stored on the web-server (I feel this would not be a good idea)?
I need some kind of dynamic navigation 'tree', but I don't really want to use an applet with a JTree... (I am not keen on applets as I feel their slowness harms acceptance of systems that integrate them) is there a better way? Or is there a way of making the applet perform better in these circumstances?
I need to be able to create and delete tree branches (i.e. directories) from within the browser, any tips on this?
If anyone has ANY kind of feedback then that would be great...
    Many thanks
    stu

ok slide is driving me crazy! i managed to get it running within tomcat (jtegrated with apache), and now I am trying to configure a mySQL database store... although whenever it starts, it says it cannot find the mySQL driver, but i have put the jar file in every possible place it could be looking for it... i.e. all the lib directories (in 'common', 'shared', 'slide', 'slide-admin' even in tomcat/server/lib) to no avail just keep getting ClassNotFound...
    any ideas?!

  • Understanding storage for MetaData "document" repository

    Hello Community,
We are running BW on an Oracle database, and I'm trying to understand what happens when I attach a document to the MetaData `document` repository.  To get to the repository, we go to RSA1 --> Documents
From the "content storage" tab after pressing the the administration button, I can see the content repository is <b>BDS_DB8</b>, which appears to store documents in the database table <b>BDSCONT8</b>.
(While a table name is listed, I would imagine that new documents added to the repository would be insterted into the database as BLOBs)
What I'm trying to understand is :
where to documents go when they're inserted into the repository ?
if I add a 1 Mb document to the repository, does the database grow in size by exactly 1 Mb ?
what are other details to consider re: storage and disk usage when using the MetaData repository ?
    Thank you,
    Keith

Shared access signature and stored access policy can be used in this case.
A shared access signature is a URI that grants restricted access rights to containers, blobs, queues, and tables for a specific time interval. By providing
a client with a shared access signature, you can enable them to access resources in your storage account without sharing your account key with them. A stored access policy provides an additional level of control over shared access signatures on the server
    side.

  • Collaboration Server with customization (use another document repository)

Does anyone think it'd be possible to makethe Plumtree Collaboration server use Documentum (or any other repository besides Plumtree's own content server) as its document repository, either by somehow customizing the Collaboration server or some other way? Have other companies attempted and had success with similar? In particular our vision is to be able to use Collab's functionality of check-in/check-out, associating documents to Project, discussion threads, etc. Only the documents could come from Documentum (or some arbitrary repository).
    Any input would be appreciated.

  • How can I use pages.app to edit an iCloud shared document?

Sharing a pages doc on iCloud is pretty easy. However the recipent/collaborator the document is shared with appears to be able to edit such document only through the browser on iCloud. What if the collaborator has his/her own pages.app installed on the Mac, is it not possible to somehow link or download the shared document so that he/she can use his pages.app on the Mac to do all the editing and viewing?

The second option assumes a service other than Apple's icloud with more direct file management. For example: Download the DropBox apps and set up an account (basic account is free). Load the files to DropBox via Pages using Open in another app, or via the dropbox website in a browser on a computer (the latter would be much quicker). From the Dropbox app, you can open them in Pages and save the file there. Box will do the same thing.
But honestly, just because particular files exist in icloud doesn't mean you actually have to open them on a specific device. Might be much easier to get creative with some folder naming and leave them as is.

  • Can multiple people edit and update a shared document in Numbers?

    Hi!
Just a quick one for you guys!
I have recently discoverer 'Numbers' which is great! I then discovered you could share a spreadsheet which is perfect for us as we quiet often need to be working in the same document from our iPhones. However, we do not seem to be able to see each others changes on the shared document. Is it actually possible for us to both work in the spreadsheet and it automatically update each others spreadsheet or is it that when we are done editing, we can only send it to our own iCloud?
    Thanks!
    Ry

If you share an iCloud link, you can all edit the same document through a web browser.  But it has to be a "full" web browser.  Mobile Safari on the iPhone can't handle it.
If you're editing the document in Numbers for iOS then others won't be able to see your changes. You'll have to email or share a link to your edited version.

  • Shared Documents Folder Gone

I just set up my Mac OS 10.3.9 to file share with Windows XP and have been successfully sharing for a few days. Today I went in to send some documents and my Shared Documents folder was gone...only an alias remained. What happened? And how do I set up a folder again? Thank you

Hi, you should be able to create a folder, say at Root of the Partition, then set Rights in Get Info window for both to read & Write.

  • Adding query string to files already within shared documents

Am a Sharepoint newbie, so hopefully this is an easy one. Am trying to add a query string to some hyperlinks (of PDF files) that are already published in a Shared Documents web part. What's the best way to accomplish this? Can't seem to find an easy
way to edit the raw HTML anchor tag, which would be so simple. Is the anchor tag HTML exposed someplace where I can edit?
    Thanks in advance.

You could potentially modify the rendering of a specific Shared Documents by modifying the XSL of your view in SharePoint Designer. However, this will not affect all libraries and not all views of the library, just the specific page.
The jQuery method is actually very easy and can be deployed site-wide by adding a reference to your MasterPage, or to a specific view / page by using the Content Editor Web Part. The actual jQuery would look something like:
    $(document).ready(function() {
    $("a[href$='.pdf']").attr('href', function(i, v) {
    return v + '#YourCustomQueryString';

I am unable to open any of our documents for shared review on my Mac.  100% of the time it results in a crash.  I have tried uninstalling, reinstalling, removing Adobe prefs from the Library directories.
The directory that holds the shared documents is actually mounted and is accessible.

So what we're doing in this case is opening a PDF file that is attached to an email.  The crash is the same whether we try to open the attachment or if we save it to the desktop first.
The only files available on the network are the XML files associated with the shared review.  And Reader doesn't know how to open those files directly.

  • Extend/modify deadline in Acrobat Pro 8 shared document review

Is it possible to extend or modify the deadline for an Acrobat Pro 8 shared document review?

    Christian,
No it's not possible to extend/modify the deadline in Acrobat 8 shared reveiws. These features have beed added in Acrobat 9. In Acrobat 8, the reviewers can add comments even after the deadline has expired. The review file can however be checked out of the review by saving a copy of the file using the 'save an archive copy' option under file menu(File> Save as archive copy), when the reveiw process is complete.
    Thanks,
    Richa

  • When i open shared Document folder getting "An unexpected error has occurred. " error

    Hi,
I am getting "An unexpected error has occurred. " error when i open Shared Document folder in Internet URL. But if i open the foder in newtab i can view the documents with out error also intranet URL also doesnt have any problem. I am using SharePoint
2007. Kindly help me resove this issue

    @Manikandan,
Can you check the ULS logs to find what is the error. The default location of log files will be C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\12\LOGS for MOSS 2007.
If is allowed for you to change the callstack and customerrors mode setting in the web.config then change those values to see the error.
    Find: <SafeMode CallStack="false" />
    Replace with: <SafeMode CallStack="true" />
    Find: <customErrors mode="On" />
    Replace with: <customErrors mode="Off" />

  • Shared documents and UCM

We are in the process of replacing our shared network drives with UCM in my organization, and during our information audits we have discovered that many folks throughout the organization make rampant use of shared Excel files. We are now being asked how UCM can support these documents, and we have no answers.
Does anyone know of a UCM feature or component that would allow a shared document to be opened and edited by multiple users in realtime? I'm thinking like Google Docs type functionality.
    Thanks,
    Phil
Edited by: Phil on Jul 20, 2011 12:04 PM

    Phil,
UCM itself is a document management system, so it has almost no control about what desktop application can or cannot do with a document.
However, UCM controls check-out and check-in of a document, and there the rule says that a document can be checked-out (-in) by a single user only. The exception is so-called folio which is an XML construct able to reference multiple documents - thus, a single user can have a single document checked-out, but the folio is kind of checked out by multiple users (a good use case is a book consisting of chapters written by many authors).
Nevertheless, even the standard mechanism, that is, a file (Excel sheet in your case) checked-out by a single user will not prevent editing by multiple users. Only the design will be lame - the file while being edited will have to be stored outside UCM and it will be checked-in by the single user when done.

I have a new lion server and 4 lion laptops. The laptops loose connection to the shared documents and printers from the server after roughly 1 hour. By disconnecting and re-connecting wireless the connection is regained to shares and printers. We can still surf the web when it goes down.

Ok 1st one. The warning restriction message relates to this line in main.cf:
    smtpd_helo_restrictions = permit_sasl_authenticated  permit_mynetworks  check_helo_access hash:/etc/postfix/helo_access  reject_non_fqdn_hostname  reject_invalid_hostname  permit reject_invalid_helo_hostname
The last reject occurs after the single word "permit" and is ignored.
    However, that's not the problem.
I'm not exactly sure what's happening, but this might be a clue.
It would appear that either postfix is not being able to create the socket for private/policy or it's somehow created with the wrong permissions.  You might need to ramp up the debug level to get a better idea.
You could check if it's being created by "netstat -a | grep private/policy" in terminal.
My guess is that it's not being created because there is no setup statement in your master.cf file, but I don't understand why postfix would be looking for it if it isn't set up.  Private/policy I think relates to grey listing.  Maybe gives you a hint.

  • Missing the entry "BI Document Repository" in KM

    Hi,
I installed an nw2004s java with ep7.0. Later I deployed the components for BI via JSPM and patched all to the sp5.
I want to integrate BI into the Portal to run Bex-Reports on Portal.
At step "Install Repository-Manager for BI-Documents and BI-Metadata in Portal" according the configuration guide I'm missing in the portal under
System administration -> system configuration -> content management -> repository managers the entry point "BI Document repository".
Does anyone know what's wrong here?
    Thanks.
    Cemal

    Hi Karsten
We are also facing the problems of missing BI-repository manager in NW2004s.
portals..(funny, because they where there all the way up in 2004 latest sp.)..
I have had a look at the installation guides for nw2004s. They do mention something about setting up various connections in the visual administator..But does not explain explicitly how to install the repository manager in the portal..
If I go to the swdc i can find some "BI-content for SAP Netweaver -> BI-Cont 7.03".
In here there is a very large car file, is that really the one..? Or could you please give a "how to guide" as how to set up the BI-repository managers in the NW 2004s portal, if the portal does not contain any BI-repository manager?
Kind regards and thank you very much...Steen
