Shared folder history

Hello.
Is there a way to check what folders have been made accessible for others in the network since system installation?
I want to make sure that none of my private folders has ever been shared. I can only see the current status, can I look back?

Is EWS working? To check hold down control and right-click the Lync icon in the system tray and select Configuration Information, it should display a URL next to EWS Information
You can also try disabling saving IM within the Lync client options and then remove the shared mailbox. Turn it back on and see if it now saves it to the default mailbox and then re-add the second mailbox.

• ITunes sharing among iPhones with different Apple ID's one computer WITHOUT home sharing, shared folder, etc...

I feel like I am losing my mind, here. A few things I want to clear up before you read my question:
No, I am not new to Apple. Yes, I understand that Home Sharing works for any group of devices authrized with my Apple ID. Home Sharing is not my issue.
1. My wife and I have different iPhones with different Apple IDs.
2. We only have one computer, on which iTunes is running under my Apple ID.
3. My iTunes library is far too large to paste into a shared folder. I keep my source folder on a 1TB external hard drive (not enough space on my iMac).
I just want her to be able to plug in and copy music onto her phone from iTunes. Home sharing is great while she's at home on the wifi, but not when she leaves. I created her own user name on my computer, set her iTunes (under her Apple ID) to pull from my library source file, and she can play everything fine, except that she cannot click and drag files onto her phone.
Any assistance would be appreciated.

iTunes Match is associated with one, and only one, iTunes Store Apple ID and country-specific store. The service cannot be shared between Apple IDs.
Indy Apple Guy wrote:
If we sign up for iTunes with the one account with the majority of the songs, is Home Sharing no longer available to the other two accounts?
Of course it is. iTunes Match has no affect on Home Sharing.
Indy Apple Guy wrote:
A. What happens to the songs on the other two libraries? Can we never use them?
It is possible to consolidate the tracks from the other iTunes libraries into one and use that for iTunes Match. Make sure the one computer that hosts the library is authorized to play any protected content.
Indy Apple Guy wrote:
C. If we purchase songs/albums while in iTunes Match, and then decide not to use Match in the future, do we lose all our music?
Of course not. Any purchases go to the purchase history for the Apple ID that bought them and as long as the tracks are downloaded and backedup you'll have them as long as you maintain them. Keep in mind that iTunes Match is a service; you don't do anything "in" iTunes Match. It simply "is" in the background.
Indy Apple Guy wrote:
D. If we associate our child's iTouch, will it still keep the parental controls in place so it won't play certain songs that are not appropriate f
Yes, parental controls should continue to work as they have. Although I do not use them, perhaps someone else with experience will weigh in.

• Cannot delete file from shared folder

While I was looking for another file in my shared folder, I discovered a jpg file named shannonhenry.jpg. All it appears to be is a school photo of a boy, maybe 14 or so. I tried to move it to trash to delete it because I do not know who this kid is, and I got an error message saying that I do not have sufficient priviledges. Anyone know what this file is or could be????

Well Kelley, that photo did not come with the system so it had to come from you or someone else putting in the Shared folder.
Choose the file and "get info" (command- i) turn the dislclosure triangle on "Ownership & Permissions" make sure you can "read & write" and make yourself the "owner"(open the lock and enter your admin password).
Then check under General, turn the disclosure triangle and be sure the "locked" box in NOT checked.
Let us know.

• 2 questions: default to shared folder and switcher sort order

I've got two Finder questions to which I haven't found an answer:
1) Can the "Finder>Preferences>General>New Finder windows open" option ever be set to a folder on a file server? When I try to do this, I can select the shared folder, but the pop-up menu reverts to the previous selection (e.g. Home). I suspect that since a server cannot be guaranteed to be accessible, the Finder refuses to allow it to be assigned as a default location.
2) I've got a switcher friend who would like to replicate in Finder windows the Windows Explorer behavior of sorting all folders to the top of the list. Is there a utility that will do this? List View sorted by Kind works for this chap only if there are no items with a Kind of alias, application, etc. that will sort higher than "Folder".

1) the answer appears to be yes but if you ever try to open a new window when the server isn't available the preference reverts to your computer.
2) no, at this time there is no Finder pref nor utility that sorts folders to the top. Two solutions exist but both are kludges. First, name every folder with a leading space, this forces the sort to the top. Second, PathFinder is a Finder semi-replacement which does allow the option of sorting folders to the top. PF is an interesting product but because it doesn't have all of Finder's AppleScript behaviors it cannot perfectly replace the Finder and having, in effect, two Finders is annoying.

• Syncing to Shared folder?

When I sync my Ipod with Itunes it adds all songs to a shared folder which is only accessible while using wifi. How do I make my songs accessible always?

Beause you are not downloading the songs to the iPod, you are just streaming them that requires wifi.
If y hae iOS 7, the go to Settings>iTunes and App Store and turn off SHOW ALL, then only downloaded media will show.
Also what do you mean by shared folder?
Are you in the Music app?

• SBS 2011 wbadmin to shared folder

I see the phrase "(If you store backups on a remote shared folder, only one version of your backup will be maintained)" bandied about with atypical confidence. However, I have a shared folder to which I do backups. I have a USB drive attached to
that system that I copy the backup to so that the user can take the copy offsite. That secondary backup failed yesterday due to size limitations.
Investigation showed that the offending phrase was simply wrong. There are multiple backup folders in the shared directory. Now, how does one go about limiting the backup to one version? OR, how does one safely delete the extra backups prior to the next
wbadmin scheduled backup? Can I just delete the backup folder without rendering the possible recovery process inaccessible?
Thanks!
--Tinker

Hi Tinker...
You are going to extra work for little end accomplishment. The SBS backup in the Console automates the process so the USB drives can be rotated off site.
Connect two or more USB drives to the server and run the SBS wizard. Test the restores weekly or monthly as your schedule permits.

• Automaticly sync photos from iphone to shared folder on windows server 2012 r2

Hey,
I'm making photo's of cars for a company and we got a server running locally. I make photo's with my iPhone and i used to use dropbox for auto syncing pictures with the dropbox cloud and access from my pc.
Since dropbox is too slow and we got a server running with big amounts of storage i want my iPhone to sync with my server instead of my dropbox. i already got a shared folder and a network drive for this.
Thanks in advance.
Marc

The slow is more than likely your cell and or network service provider however this one may help.

Hi,
Use GUI_UPLOAD to upload a text file from a shared folder.
Use GUI_DOWNLOAD to download data in a file on the presentation server or use OPEN DATASET, TRANSFER and CLOSE DATASET statements to download data to the application server.
Now, I hope the code for data fetching, if required, is already present in the report.

Hi experts,
My requirement is to transfer data from a file to shared folder. i just did reading data from a file to a internal table. Now i want to send this internal table data into a shared folder which is "
xxx\y\z....".
I do not have any idea on how to send data from internal table to the shared folder path.
can anybody please help me out how to do this?
Thanks & Regards
Sireesha.

Where that folder is located, its on presentation server i.e. desktop or application server.
If its on presentation server, use FM GUI_UPLOAD.
If its on application server, then use DATASET functions. Have a look at below link.

• Windows shared folder asks for permanently delete

Hi,
Any file from windows shared folder asks for permanently delete and after that it is not recoverable... Please help, how to enable recycle bin service??

Hi,
This is by design the Recycle Bin only stores files deleted from local drives, not from a shared folder. The workaround is to move a folder in C:\users\<user name> to the shared folder.
For more detailed information, please refer to the thread below:
Files deleting over the Network /share drive is not going to the recycle bin it permanently delete the file but deleting from local drive is normaly going to recycle Bin !

the simple thing is that you need to have the folder on the xi server if you have to use NFS to access it.
Else FTP would be the choice. I am not sure how it would act in case you are able to mount the external folder on to the XI server. As somebody from your network team if thats a possibility and try to access it via NFS else you will have to go for FTP only.

• Windows 2008 : How to Restrict Users to Copy file from Shared Folder

Hello All,
I need to Restrict Users to Copy file from Shared Folder. Please let me know is there any method to achieve this requirement.

If user have Read permission, they can copy it. So actually you cannot restrict user from copy your files if they could read/edit.
Some programs could help restrict users from edit/modify/copy the content of their files such as Office files, PDF files etc as Oscar said above.

2. How do i recover file which deleted from MAP drive...
Please help me to resolve this issue...
Kalpesh Chauhan

As to your first problem, I am not so familiar. But, as to the second problem, I think I can help.
In fact, I have ever also accidentally deleted my hard drive files. In order to re-access them, I have also posted my question in forums, just like you. Fortunately, after browsing many related answers and threads, I just know that a third
party data recovery program can be a good chance to go on.
So, I follow some instructions in these forums and select three drive recovery freeware to go on, including Recuva, iCare Data Recovery Free and TestDisk and so on.
Finally, I have restored all my needed data back successfully with these freeware.
So, I hope it will also help you out.
PS: Never forget to back up everything important on different hard drives or places in case of any similar data recovery problems in the future.
