Shared google calendars: sending invites

My partner and I have a Google calendar each that we share.
Shared on iPhone calendars (set up as an Exchange account and synced via m.google.com/sync
Previously we could set up a calendar event on our iPhone and the other would see it on their iPhone calendar as a normal calendar entry.
Now whenever we enter a new calendar event, the other person sees it as an invite with voting buttons?
We haven't changed any settings. Very annoying.
Haven't found any solutions yet.

I am seeing this same behavior, and it is driving me nuts. I've shared a kids calendar with their mother (my ex-wife). She inexplicably gets an invite when I create an event. She should not get an event  invite---the event should just appear on her view of the calendar. Then when I view an events, she shouws up as a "Guest" that hasn't responded. Then when I try to edit or delete an events, I can't. I have to go to Google calendar to do this.
I am starting to wonder if this is only happening with events created on iOS. I can't find any help nor any discussion threads except this one.

  • Suddenly getting unwanted event notifications from shared Google calendars

My company has been using Google Apps for Business for almost 6 months now.  We all share our calendars with each other so we all can see who is doing what and when.
On my iPhone 6, I see the list of all my subscribed calendars, but my own calendar is the only one checked to be displayed.  However, JUST YESTERDAY, 7 January 2015, I am suddenly getting notifications for all the meetings in other people's calendars.  I checked the Google Calendar settings, and all other calendars besides mine are set to "NO NOTIFICATIONS" yet I'm still getting them on my phone.  It is driving me crazy because some of these calendars chock-full of events and appointments.
    What could be happening?

I have iPhone 6 with iOS 8.1.3, and this is the solution that's working for me so far. However, I had to use the Calendar app on my Mac OS X (Yosemite) - not sure if there is another option for PC. Basically, I added the shared Google calendar to iCloud and told Google not to sync the shared calendar to my iPhone, so the shared calendar now shows up under the iCloud list of calendars and not the Google list (and thus the option to turn off alerts). Note: the shared calendars I'm using are read-only, so I don't know how well this would work if you need to edit events from iPhone. I hope this helps, and if anyone has a better solution, please share!
    1. Turn on iCloud calendars on iPhone and Mac.
    2. In browser, open the shared Google calendar settings and copy the iCal calendar address URL.
    3. In Mac OS X Calendar app, subscribe to the shared Google calendar. File > New Calendar Subscription > paste shared Google calendar URL > click Subscribe
    4. Set Location to iCloud. I checked Ignore Alerts because I also didn't want them on my Mac.
    5. The shared calendar should now be listed on your iPhone calendars in the iCloud section with the red i.
    6. Press the red i and scroll to the bottom and switch off Event Alerts.
    7. Remove the shared calendar from the Google list by going to https://www.google.com/calendar/syncselect and unchecking the shared calendars.

  • Q10 and multiple shared Google Calendars?

I tried searching on this support forum for answers to my question but could not find any.
I am currently using the BB9930. The device was more than adequate for my purposes even though the lack of apps was always a sore spot. However, the one lack of functionality that I could not compromise was the BB9930's lack of support for displaying multiple Google Calendars that are shared with me. I recognize that I can create a new Google account and have that account's Calendar display on my device, but I am not interested in that. I need to be able to view the Calendars of other Google accounts that are shared with my Google account.
This lack of functionality is turning out to be a dealbreaker for me. I switched temporarily to a Motorola XPRT but that device's keyboard was just not as good, the phone was sluggish, etc. I've switched back to the BB9930 but am planning to switch either to an Android non-keyboarded phone or to the Q10.
Whether I switch to a Q10 is really dependent on whether it supports multiple shared Google Calendars but I can't seem to find a straightforward answer to this question. Can any current Q10 users tell me whether this is possible in their experience? Thanks so much for your help.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
My memory tells me that the answer remains no...only the primary gmail user calendar can be displayed, and no other calendars associated to the same google account can be shown. I've been digging for an official KB on the matter (I am quite sure that I've recently read one, but just can't find it now!!), without success...perhaps your search will be more fruitful:
    http://btsc.webapps.blackberry.com/btsc/microsites/microsite.do
But, my memory also tells me that this is not a limitation of BlackBerry per se. Rather, it is a limitation that Google has placed onto the BlackBerry platform...which is a bit of a different twist on causality. Irrelevant from the end user perspective, but perhaps helpful when one is dealing with their frustrations over the issue (e.g., knowing who to "blame").
Your workaround solution sounds, sadly, like the proper one...create additional google accounts for a calendar-only function, and have the desired calendar be the primary within that account, integrated to the BB10 device via CALDAV:
KB33093 How to setup Google Calendar synchronization via CalDAV on the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet or BlackBerry 10 smartphone
    Good luck!

  • Syncing shared google calendars on to iPhone?

How do I get my shared google calendars to show on my iphone as I can on my mac iCal? All I can see on my iPhone is my main google calendar which I happen to not even use.

    Greetings,
This appears to be a feature of the Google server.  Take a look at their help entry on the topic: http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?answer=139206&topic=14252

  • How to set up iOS calendar app with shared Google Calendar data

At work (in our small office) I've been given access to the shared Google Calendar that has our work schedule. It was set up using this page (click on Share an existing calendar):
    https://support.google.com/calendar/answer/37082
The question I have is how to set it up to work with iOS calendar app on my iPhone?

"currently there is no shared group calendar support."
Well, not really. You hinted at it with: "set up a group wiki."
Go into Workgroup Manager and set up an Open Directory group. Add people to it.
Each client must then go into iCal --> Preferences --> Accounts and add an account. The name and password entered must be the same as that added to the group, Kerberos must be unchecked, and the account URL will be like (fill in the blanks properly):
    http://<your domain name here>:8008/principals/groups/<your group name here>/
Now each properly logged in user of that group can make changes to the shared group calendar, without any "hacks" like making dummy users and delegation.
However, I am getting a notifier: "Request Error: Accesss to <event name> in <your group name here> in account <your group name here> is not permitted." But that seems to be a lie, since multiple members of the group can make changes and others can see the changes.
Oh yea, make sure you have a functioning DNS with valid reverse lookup.

  • Cannot turn off Event Alerts for shared Google calendars in iOS8

I am using a Google Apps account for my calendars and through this have access to several shared calendars.
When I go into the Calendar app in iOS8, I then press the 'Calendars' button at the bottom of my screen, then I am shown all my iCloud calendars in one group then all the calendars from the one Google Apps account together in the next section.
The iCloud calendars (Home, Work, Family) all have a red next to them, which when I press it, I am able to scroll to the bottom of that screen and switch off 'Event Alerts' under 'Notifications'.
But there are no marks next to any of the Google Apps calendars.
This means that all of my shared calendars will give me notifications all the time, and I can’t switch them off.
Is there any way to turn off event alerts/ notifications for specific shared calendars?
    Many thanks!

  • Shared Google calendars are not shown

    Hi,
A friend of mine has shared a Google calendar with me and it does not show up in the calendar app. I have added a Google calendar in the app and my own shows up just fine. The calendars added by Google shows up as well such as week nr and official holidays. The only calendar that seems to be missing is my friends. The web interface for Google calendar shows my friends calendar so the sharing seems to be configured correctly. I guess I could configure my friends calendar as s iCal but it seems like I should not need to do this really.
Thats why I'm asking Is this a bug or is it missconfiguration on my part?

  • Google calendar sends e-mail reminders, iCal shall not trigger Mail

I am using several Google calendars. I configured Google calendar to send reminders via e-mail. Unfortunately, iCal tries to do the same now. So for every entry in one of my Google calendars, Mail appears and wants to send a reminder e-mail ... Very annoying. What I would like to have, however, is the following:
E-Mail alarms come via Google calendar and on screen reminders come via iCal. Under no circumstances, however, Mail shall send e-mail reminders itself.
    Any way to achieve this?

    Hi,
Not exactly what you're asking for but… you can disable all alarms for a calendar in iCal by selecting the calendar in the Calendar list, pressing Cmd-I and from the info window that should appear checking "Ignore alarms".
    Best wishes

  • Shared Google Calendars not showing

I've used my Palm Pre with Google Calendar on Sprint just fine since June 2009. Randomly, it seems, starting just a few days ago, suddenly I can no longer see my wife's calendar, or any other shared calendars. I've done 3 hard resets, and even changed the name of my wife's Google calendar and re-shared it with myself, but the problem is still there. I've called Sprint and had no luck. They said something about incorrect security settings, then made me wait on hold for 30 minutes for further explanation, and I hung up. Is this a Web OS 1.4.1.1 problem?

    Hello and welcome to the forums;
Try removing your Google account from Calendar, restarting your device, then re-add it. This should force the calendar to reappear.
    Hope this helps,

  • IPhone5 IOS 6.0.1 shared google calendar does not show

Even though the setting in Google Calendar is set to 'show', the shared calendar from another gmail acount does not appear in the iphone native calendar app.
    Anyone solution for this?

I was able to get my shared calendars to show up in my iPhone Calendar list only after visiting https://m.google.com/sync/settings/iconfig/ in the iPhone Safari browser.  That page lets me manage the Google Sync devices (e.g. iPhone, iPad), each has its own Settings page where I must click the checkbox to sync each shared calendar.  Once I saved those device-specific settings, I was able to see the extra calendars on the iPhone.

  • HT4901 Trouble with calendar sending invites.

Calendar will not send invites.  I accidentally deleted the "Yahoo! CalDAV" located in calendar preferences on the Accounts tab.  Wondering if that has something to do with it.  I have tried to re-set that up and it won't work.  Help please?

When I edit an appointment I do not have a link to "invitees". Can you give more information about how to find it? I created a new calendar appointment, saved, then clicked 'edit' on that item - there isn't any link to invitee attendees.

  • Google calendar event invites don't show up in Mail. Why?

I use Google calendar and my wife uses Apple Mail and iCal. When I send meeting requests from Google calendar to her, they never arrives in Apple Mail (either in the inbox nor in the junk mail folder). Meeting requests I send her never make it into iCal because she doesn't have the opportunity to either accept or reject them because they don't arrive in Apple Mail. Everyone else I send meeting requests to get them. Why don't they show up in Apple Mail?

Sounds like more of a question for the Mail experts. Once the file is added to the Mail message it's not really anything to do with iPhoto.

  • Google calendar notifications/invitations error

iCal claims that the invitations sent from my Google Calendar are from an address not on my "Me" address book card.
I've added 2 eMail addresses to my "Me" card, both my Google mail address, and the email that the notification is sent from:
    [email protected]
I can't figure if there's some hidden eMail address & the one above is just a reply-to address.
    Anyone else having this?

My understanding is that short codes 46645 and 48368 are both for Google so your routing is ok. I would recommend working with one of the mods or calling Customer Care to open a ticket.
