Shared iCloud calendar

I have a shared account with another teacher. Is there a way to set up the iCloud calendar so she can not see my entries?

Sharing a calendar is for exactly that purpose - so other people can see (and edit) the entries on it.
If you don't want someone else to see what you are entering on a calendar, why share it with them in the first place?
Put your entries into a calendar you're not sharing with them, to prevent them seeing the entries.
If you're actually sharing the whole iCloud account (not just sharing a calendar) then no, you can't prevent them from seeing what you are entering. iCloud accounts should not be shared. You should have individual iCloud accounts and then just share a specific calendar between you.

  • How can I remove "invitations" from a shared iCloud calendar when I am not actually invited to the event?

How can I remove invitations from a shared iCloud calendar when I am not actually invited to the event?
My wife and I share our calendars and she uses it very frequently. Every time she enters a new event on her calendar I get a notice (invitation?) in the Calendar app, even though I am not invited to the event she created.
I would like to continue being able to share our calendars but I do not want the hassle of an Invitation popping up every time she enters an event.
    Thanks!

You can sync photos and itunes content with one and only one computer at a time.  When you sync to another, it will erase the current content and  replace with content from the new computer.

  • HT203521 In iOS8 I can't turn off shared iCloud calendar alerts. I share iCloud calendars with 3 others and am constantly getting their alarms for upcoming appointments. Settings- Notifications- Calendar- Shared Calendar Changes turns off changes only.

Have had new iPhone 6 for 2 months, using iOS 8.  I share iCloud calendars with 3 others and I am getting bombarded with their upcoming appointment alerts.  There seems no way to turn this off.  I went to Settings->Notifications->INCLUDE(Calendar)->Shared Calendar Changes and turned everything off, but this only blocks alerts about new events or changes to events being added to the calendars, it does not block the 5-minute/10-minute/etc. alarms that go off immediately in advance of the appointment.  There used to be a setting in iOS7 in "Mail, Contacts, and Calendars" way at the bottom to turn off alarms from shared calendars, but I don't see that in iOS8.  Any ideas?

Finally figured this out when I read jodiemcneill 's post about Google calendars.  Thanks!
Reposting the basic idea: to turn off event alerts from shared ICloud calendars, select the Calendar App, then click the "info" (i.e., the circled red 'i') icon next to the shared iCloud calendar to be silenced. Go down to "Notifications" and turn the slider off for "Event Alerts: (Allow events on this calendar to display alerts.)"
For good measure, you can also turn off the slider for "Show Changes" to prevent the calendar from displaying messages when shared events are added/modified/deleted, although this can be done "globally" for all shared iCloud Calendars in Settings->Notifications->Calendar->Invitations (turn off all sliders, click "none" for Alert Style).
This has been a major pain in the ... neck ... for the past 3 months.  So glad to start the new year with a suddnely-much-quieter iPhone 6.

  • HT2513 Events added to shared iCloud Calendar first

When I have a shared iCloud calendar, any event I add to my calendar gets added to the shared calendar first, even if I have my default calendar set to something else. This is really annoying as other people are being notified of all meetings, even if they don't have anything to do with them.

    Hi thewomandirector,
For calendar events that are not syncing from your iPhone to your iMac, I recommend this troubleshooting article:
    iCloud: Troubleshooting iCloud Calendar
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3999
I recommend troubleshooting the iMac first and then, if necessary, the iPhone.  You can also check iCloud.com to see if the iPhone-added events are making it that far.
    Cheers!

  • TS3999 Deleted past events from shared iCloud calendar. How can I get them back?

I have accidentally deleted all past events from shared iCloud calendars when removing from one mac. How can I get them back?

    ronylouis wrote:
i deleted notes fom my old iphone and surprised to see that they have been deleted from my new phone ..how can i get them back ...i dont have any backup??
Why would you be surprised?  You were syncing your Notes with iCloud or a Mail Account.  Synchronization means when you make a change on one device, it affects all other devices that are synched for the same purpose.  Like when you delete an email (usually) it also disappears from your other devices as well.

  • Shared iCloud calendar events not updating on shared devices

I had successfully set up a shared iCloud calendar with my friend which enabled us to edit and view the same calendar on our iPhones and iMacs.
Everything was working fine until a few days ago when it stopped working. When either one of us created new events, they wouldn't show up on the other person's calendar and when they seldomly did, not even an alert popped up like it used to which the person had to go under the invitations page and accept them.
What could possibly have gone wrong? We tried deleting the calendar then re-sharing but it stopped working very suddenly.

    Hi trenten7,
Here is an article that goes through troubleshooting iCloud calendars, including different steps for different devices:
    iCloud: Troubleshooting iCloud Calendar
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3999
I would start with troubleshooting the two Macs and then move on to the iPhones.
    Cheers!

  • How to get reminders for shared iCloud-calendar on iOS?

    Hi there,
Does anyone know how to get reminders to work for shared iCloud-calendar in iPhone?
I "own" the calendar and have shared it with my whife and she has full acces to it.
We use the calendar for events that we both wan't to have reminders for but we can't get it to work!
If I create an event I get the reminder but not my whife and the same if she creats the event, then I don't get any reminder.
I checked in icloud.com and there are no reminders set in the event that she creted!
    I have a 4s with iOS6 and my whife have a 3Gs that runs iOS5 (latest).

I think you're seeing a limitation of Apples sharing of calendars. It seems Apple may even be moving away from any sharing. If you use the Reminder program for shared todo lists the only option for sharing now is the app in Mountain lion. Once shared it can been seen on all devices but the fact you can no longer initiate sharing from iCloud or an iOS device is not good news for sharing.
Seems very un Apple like not to have the best method for sharing this stuff. I have found it incredibly useful for my wife and I.  I have put in feedback requesting better sharing and would encourage anyone needing this stuff to do the same.
As a side note the 3GS can be updated to ios 6. Seems to run well on my 3 gs.

  • Error Message: "Calendar has unexpectedly stopped" while joining shared iCloud calendar.

When attempting to join a shared iCloud calendar from a family member, I receive this error message:
    Calendar has unexpectedly stopped.
An unexpected error has prevented this application from working properly.
    Details:
    ERROR
SC.Store#find() must pass recordType or query
The details also contain a large amount of diagnostic information which I have sent to Apple.
Is there anything else I can do to prevent this error from occurring?

I'm having the same problem on my wife's computer. I successfully joined several shared calendars from my account, and suddenly started getting this message on the last one. I've tried again repeatedly over the last 24 hours, including sending a new invitation, logging her out of iCloud website, etc.
Did you find any resolution to the problem?

  • Shared iCloud calendar colour keeps changing

I haven't had this problem for a while, but this week my the calendar my wife shares with me in iCloud keeps changing colour.
I am running iOS 6.1.3 and we have had the shared calendars set up for ages. Now no matter what i do her calander displays as blue, even though it is yellow when i log into iCloud on the web.
When I change to colour to purple on either my iPad or iPhone the colour changes on the web iCloud calendar but displays as blue in iCal on my mac, and in iCal on both my iPad and iPhone.
I haven't added any other new calendars or accounts recently, so I have no idea why this is happening (again)
Anyone else having this problem and/or found a solution?

I started having this problem in late June. Both the names and colours for some of my shared calendars suddenly changed to the names and colours used by the calendar owners (instead of the names and colours that I have assigned to them). This had worked just fine ever since shared calendars became available until June, 2013. My Mom and my sister are having the same problem.
I reported the problem to Apple support on July 3, and they ran through some troubleshooting with me. The names and colours are correct on the calendar app in Mountain Lion as well as iCloud.com through Safari on my Mac. However, when the calendar syncs to any iOS device, the namea and colours on SOME of the shared calendars change. This even occurs when setting up a brand new iPad for the first time.
If I change the name and colour on either my iPhone or iPad, the change seems to sync back to iCloud, but, just a few seconds later, the calendar app on iOS begins syncing again and the names and colours change back.
I spoke to two levels of support at Apple who were not able to resolve the problem. The second rep said the problem needed to be forwarded to an Apple engineer for investigation. It's now been over a month, and there has still been no response from their engineers. I've contacted Apple twice for an update, and they said the engineers still have not replied.

  • Sharing iCloud calendar with Google user

Hello, I would like to share my own iCloud calendar as well as our two children's and the family's calendars, with my husband who is a Google user.  I have gone onto iCloud.com and use the share public button, and sent my husband the invitation to subscribe to these calendars (with read-only access).  However, the weird thing is when my husband tries to click on the Subscribe button, it does not work as it does not appear to be a clickable link.  Has anybody else experienced this?  And, do you how I can resolve this issue?  Thanks.

    Hi Roger,
I'm having this same problem, only GMail doesn't seem to provide any way to get the link that way.  However, I am able to get a URL by viewing the plain text of the e-mail, it looks something like this:
    webcal://p04-calendarws.icloud.com/ca/subscribe/1/...
When I try to add it, Google says "Sorry, webcal://... is not a valid URL" and it also says this even if I change the webcal:// to http:// ...   Is this the error message to expect due to Google's stupid bug?
    Thanks!
P.S.  I am trying to subscribe because I need my wife's calendar in iCloud to sync with my Android phone... this has been a monstrous pain to try to get it to work with nothing to show for it so far... :-(

  • Sharing icloud calendars with non icloud users

Anyone have a suggestion on how to share my ical icloud calendars with non-icloud users?
Can't seem to share with MobileMe - and Tungle.com doesn't support it either. What about google calendars? Would that be a good work around or end up duplicating entries somehow if they're all synced.
    Please advise.

Ok Apple... I was sooooo excited about moving my whole team to iCloud, I've already got us setup and our upcoming events are being entered as I write. Then.... I discovered.... The fatal flaw....
While most of my people are apple users, I still have an employee that isn't and isn't ever going to be. No big deal right, they should just get read only access while the "in crowd" gets the cool toys. Except....
See screenshot below, I can EITHER publish read-only to a url OR share through iCloud... NOT BOTH. So in order for my one non-apple employee to see the calender, I have to give up the ability for all the others to make changes... making this calendar service just as ineffective as the one I was trying to replace!
This would be such an easy thing to fix, but I suspect it was a conscious decision to incentivize more people to switch to all apple. Yet I just can't get everybody to do that, I can't force an employee to buy an iPhone and I sure ain't gonna pay for it. So I'm stuck. Next stop... Google Calendar.

  • Shared icloud calendar not syncing

a few months ago I started syncing all my calendars through icloud, and I gave read/write access to someone else via icloud.
this worked superb, if they set a calendar event in my calendar I'd get an alert and then it would appear in my calendar, this was great.
a week or two ago, it stopped working.
Any events that are they send to me do not trigger the alert any more and do not appear in my calendar in any way.
they do not appear in icloud.com, on the ios devices or on my mac any more (they used to).
If I set an event to the same calendar it appears in icloud.com and then in my ios clients and mac.
The calendar still shows them as authorized to "view & edit" my calendar, but some reason they can no longer edit or send me events as they could when this was setup.
Why has this stopped working and how can I get it working again as it was very useful.

    Hi Matt!
I have a couple of articles here that can provide some troubleshooting steps for you that may help you resolve this issue:

  • Sharing iCloud calendar

Does anyone know how to share an iCloud calendar with another Apple ID?
    Thanks

    at www.iCloud.com
You sign in, click the calendar icon,
in the list of calendar's on the left
-> you should see a faint icon to the right of the calendar name.
    click that,
type the email address of the user you want to share with,
and whether you let them just View or View and Edit.
    Hope this helps!
