Shared Library Won't Load

I've been having absolutely no luck with this whole iTunes sharing thing in iTunes 9.
Firstly, my XP PC will not show up on either my Vista machine or my Mac. I've tried tweaking all the settings, nothing seems to work.
My Vista library will appear on my Mac, but when it's clicked, the library just says "Loading *'s Library" and refuses to actually load. The bar moves and such, but nothing ever comes up.
I should mention that my Mac loads up fine on both machines and plays normally.

Well, here we are in 2013, and this issue is still not fixed. I love my iPhone 4s, and I believe Apple makes the best mobile devises around, but Apple ***** so bad at interoperability, it is shameful.  (I also love the fact that when I check the spelling using Apple's tool, the dictionary does not recognize 'iPhone.' LoL.)

  • My Home Shared Library won't load.

I need help here guys, I've uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes on both computers, the laptop with all the music can see the new PC's library, but when I tried to load the old library, it says "Loading Elijah's Library" for about 10 seconds and then nothing pops up, things return to the way they were before, I want to transfer all my music over, I did it once last time, but I had to wipe the new PC and start from scratch and now iTunes isn't working properly, help would be appreciated.

Also, sometimes when checking for new purchases on my library when it is loading, the ability to view that library under home sharing disappears completely

  • Home sharing - library won't load

    Details:
-home sharing is turned on for both windows computers
-I am logged in with the same apple id on both home share accounts
-I have disabled my firewall as a precaution
-both computers are connected to the same network
-I am using windows 8.1 on my computer, windows vista on the other
-both computers are using iTunes 12.0.1.26
So I can see the home sharing icon on both computers and I can see the names of the other computers on each one.  When I click the other library I want to see, it says "Loading Bob's Library", but it never loads.  Earlier it would try to load and then just go back to my library, but now it seems that it just keeps spinning like it is trying to load, but it never does.
I have seen and read the "trouble shooting" suggestions by apple, so please don't recommend those.
    Thanks for the help.

  • Shared library will not load

My Shared library will not load.  I see it in the list, but when I click on it the status indicator runs for a while and then it just goes back to the local library.

I also have this problem. I have a mac running os snow leopard and my dad has a pc running windows vista. he has no problem taking my music via home share, but I cannot load his library. I click on his library and it loads for a little while and then bumps me back to my local library.

  • ***iPhoto Library won't load? HELP!

I had a problem with my external lacie drive.
disk warrior rebuilt the directory and the drive is fine.
Now however iPhoto will not load. At first it said I needed to upgrade the thumbnails and I did so but never knew if it was working?
I think the directory data file for iPhoto is messed up?
I really need to get my albums back up becuase that is how I sort my best
    photos etc..
I have had lots of iphoto crashes and I'm in the process of getting a more stable program. I have about 20,000 pictures in there. And everytime this happens it's always a disaster.
As of now I have imported some new photos into iphoto to continue my work flow. So, now iPhoto thinks this is the Library. I don't know what it's doing now, is it putting these new pictures in the same iPhoto library that won't load now?
I tried to load the "modified" iphoto library folder since I am hoping this will bring up all my best photo's I would have edited and go from there. But it won't load from iphoto. So I'm copying the modified folder to another drive and will try that.
Any advice on how to fix this mess?
    Much appreciated!

I'm new to mac . I moved my home folder and managed to do somthing that made my iMac behave as if I was a new user. My 900 pictures were gone from iPhoto. I found them and re imported them using spotlight to find the albums. All my keywords were gone however. It's not much I know but it may help you ?

  • Final Cut Library Won't Load!

My Final Cut Library, based on an external drive, won't load. It gets stuck loading certain events.
It all began earlier when my Library WOULD open, but it would take 10-15 minutes to do so. I finally realized it was because it was attempting to access thousands of PNG files on an external drive that caused the hangup. Noticing that the local machine drive handled these files much better than my external drive, I moved the folder of media to my local drive with the goal of reconnecting the media files.
Then, when I opened up my Library in Final Cut (after taking 15 minutes to do so), the event with the trouble files contained NO CLIPS within it whatsoever (in fact, the star Event Logo wasn't present next to the name of the event). The clips were still in the sequence that I had cut in, but they would not open in the media browser at all.
Now, trying the main Library again OR the local backup (from the Movies folder), the app gets stuck once it opens. I can't click anything within it.
I'm stuck, don't know what to do, am on a deadline, and would sure love some help. Thank you to any kind and knowledgeble souls out there!

All the files were being linked to the folder on the same external drive at the library is on. I.e., I "left the files in place." I figured if I just renamed that external folder, the files would register as off-line in the event, and I could relink the event to the copy of the files on my internal drive. Granted, I did not know you could use the consolidated feature in Final Cut Pro to relocate original files. I did it by hand in the Finder. The weirdest part of all, is that the event still remains in the library within Final Cut, but it's only text with no event logo next to it, and if I selected, all the original clips that were in that event have vanished, meaning I can't select and relink them.
Unless I can try what you're saying of inserting the files directly into the event folder within the library package, I'm having to create a new event and import the new files from the internal drive clean. It requires me to redo all my edit with the graphic files, but it seems I don't have much other choice. Even if I were to replace the graphic files back into the original event folder, they would still be running off of the external Drive, which caused the problem in the first place. So far, accessing the graphic files off the internal drive has gone lightning fast.

In the videos app on my iPad, when I click on the shared library tile under the 'Shared' button, the library loads until the indicator gets halfway, and then it just stops. However, in my iPhone (4, iOS 6), the library loads almost immediately. The library is also available on my appleTV.
I've tried quitting the apps involved (iPad Videos app, iTunes on the computer), and restarting both the iPad and iMac.
This problem is intermittent. It was working fine last week, although this has happened twice before, and I cannot figure out what resolved it.
    What gives?

I did talk to Apple Support about a month ago, and they walked me through shutting down Home Sharing on my Mac and all devices, and then restarting all hardware, and then restarting Home Sharing on everything.
This got my library to finally load, and I was able to stream the movies to my iPad. But it lasted for less than a day, and now I'm back to where I started, unable to load the library in the Videos app or the Music app.
I don't have to do this with my iPhone (4, OS6) or appleTV, and I certainly don't want to reboot everything in order to stream a movie or music onto my iPad.
    Again, Apple, what gives?

  • IPhoto Library Won't Load After 10.4.10 Combo Update (PPC)

After updating to 10.4.10 on a G4 desktop the iPhoto library will no longer load. Tried several times to rebuilt it and program quits unexpectedly just as it finishes rebuild. Ran repair disk permissions from HD and Repair Disk from DVD and re-installed 10.4.9, but problem remains. Had some trouble importing the last few photos (downloaded from an e-mail) before this problem occured (possible it is not related to 10.4.10 upgrade?). Been everywhere looking for a way to solve this, but to no avail. Any suggestions?

Hi, redwood. You had trouble with the emailed photos because they had been compressed by the sender using Stuffit (that's what the .sit suffix indicates), and you didn't unStuff them before importing them. I'm surprised that iPhoto was even willing to try to import them. It certainly couldn't have displayed them in that form.
If you then trashed them and emptied the trash *within iPhoto*, I'm not sure why they should have continued to cause you trouble — but since I don't understand how they could have been imported in the first place, I wouldn't really expect to understand all the consequences.
If, instead, you trashed them from within the iPhoto Library folder using the Finder, doing so corrupted your iPhoto Library database and necessitated a rebuild — which ordinarily produces better results than it apparently did in your case. Perhaps there were files left in the iPhoto Library folder that still referenced the files you deleted, and iPhoto didn't know how to handle references to files that weren't in an image format.
Setting aside what we don't understand and may never understand, I suggest that you leave your present defective iPhoto Library just as it is for the moment, and try to determine whether the backup copy is usable. (Good for you for having one, by the way!):
Connect or insert the drive or disc that contains the backup iPhoto Library folder. Start iPhoto while holding down the Option key, and continue to hold it down until you're asked whether you want to Create or Find a library. Choose Find, then navigate to the backup Library folder and click Open. If it opens normally and everything seems to be in order in it, simply replace the bad library folder inside your account's Pictures folder with a copy of the backup library folder, and you're back in business. It if doesn't open correctly, post back with details of what happened.
Note that the only way to make a successful backup copy of your iPhoto Library is to copy the entire iPhoto Library folder *as a unit* to another storage volume (a volume is a hard drive, a partition on a hard drive that contains more than one partition, a CD, DVD, flash drive, or other storage medium). If your backup wasn't made this way, it won't be usable.
EDIT: Well, I was busily churning out my long reply while you were solving the problem. I'm glad it turned out well.

  • My wife's library won't load into my itunes.  It sees it but never loads

My wife and I turned on our homesharing again.  She logged on with her itunes credentials on her laptop.  On my laptop, I logged on to home sharing with her credentials also.  My library loaded right up on her laptop.  Her library is listed on the left in my itunes on my laptop but is just stuck on "loading library".  We haven't logged off of our homesharing since it became available.  Did something in the log-in process change that we're missing?

    Hi markgtexas,
If you are having issues accessing your wife's library via Home Sharing, you may find the following article helpful:

  • Home Sharing library will not load!

My sisters library and mine are set up on a home sharing account. I go into my iTunes on a seperate computer than her and her library shows up in my drop down. But when i click on it in shows the loading symbol but never pops up! Please help!!

Hi!, I hope my english still works and helps you: using Home sharing I have same issue on my 2 machines (iMac PPC with 10.5 & Macbook PRO intel with 10.6) and the HDD on first machine was partitioned and iTunes's library was copied on 2nd partition. Well, now the "old" iMac PPC reads and copies all library from Macbook, but not vice-versa so both libraries must be in the Home directory.
Hoping to be a help, I wish you a happy new year!

  • Itunes library won't load to ipod mini after ipod to new computer transfer

I got a new computer and was able to transfer my ipod music into itunes; however, now my ipod has gone blank and it will not load the songs from itunes back onto the ipod. The ipod shows up on itunes, but has no songs listed. It shows that it is empty with a lock next to it on the bottom of the itunes screen.
    Please help!

As you have all of your songs safely back in iTunes then try restoring your iPod, this will erase the hard drive, reload the software and put it back to default settings. Once the restore is complete it should connect to iTunes and give you a prompt you to automatically update your library onto the fresh installation: Restoring iPod to Factory Settings

  • IPhoto library won't load thumbnails or pics

A couple of months back, I noticed that some thumbnails in my iPhoto library were not being loaded (maybe 10% of folders), and a number of photo's inside the folder were blank, and would also not load.  The folder thumbnails would flicker on and off when scrolling down the folders, and the folders themselves show the 'reflection' of the folder pic in front of it, but not on the actual, folder.
I then noticed that some folders had totally disappeared, so I restored from my Time Machine from a couple of months previous.  Missing folders re-appeared, but I still had blank thumbnails, and pics unable to open.  I tried the 4 iPhoto repair options, but it made no difference.
I then restored from an even older Time Machine backup, but now, most of my thumbnail pics are missing (about 90%), and I can't open most of my photos.  I don't understand how this is happening, as when the backup was made, the iPhoto library was fine.
I'm now beginning to think that my hard drive on my Mac may be corrupt, and I'm restoring to a faulty drive.  Can anyone help?
I'm on OSX 10.6 (I think), and it may be worth noting that I tried updating the OS 2 months ago, but it crashed my Mac, and I had to restore.
    Thanks
    Lee

    Apologies for the delayed response.
    I'm running iPhoto V9.5.1 (902.17) on OSX 10.9.3.
    Thanks
