Shared Memory Service Not Created Yet

Hi Everyone,
I had to get a new printer because the baby did something to my old one and now it won't print clearly. I got an HP Officejet 4315 because it was the only one that said it supported 10.2.8. When I installed the software, I got a message saying, "Driver Not Installed." I checked the HP website, and they said to install the BSD from my CD's, which I did, now when I click on "HD Assistant" I get a message saying, "Shared Memory Service Not Created Yet."
I can't find anything on the HP or Mac websites about this error message. I e-mailed HP Support, they said to repair permissions and re-boot, which I did, but I still get that error message.
Please don't tell me to buy a new computer so I can get a new OS, because that's not financially feasible at the moment, since I'm a stay-at-home mom.

Upgrading your Mac to Panther 10.3.x would be quite painless, and depending on whether it meets the Panther System Requirements, and the Additional Panther System Requirements, also relatively inexpensive.
If you know what to look for, a Full Retail Version, of the Panther Install CDs, can also be purchased rather inexpensively, at some additional online Apple retailers, Amazon, eBay, FastMac, etc.
Be sure not to purchase grey, upgrade or machine specific CDs or DVDs.
Panther is only on CDs, not DVDs.
Unless purchased from AppleRescue, the discs should look exactly like the images in the above links, and not say Upgrade, or CPU Drop-in DVD, on them.

Once Panther 10.3.x is installed, you can use the 10.3.9 Combo Update, to upgrade to the final version.

Shared Node Model not created

I have created multiple task flows and created the adf menu models. I have created the views for all the nodes and have created shared nodes for the lower level task flows. I have verified that the managed beans are all present for each task flow and they are located in the appropriate menu models XML file and referenced in the root_menu.
When I run the page I get the following error: java.lang.NullPointerException: Shared Node Model not created for query_menu. Check for the existence of the corresponding managed bean in your config files.
I did find another post related to this problem, but did not understand the post.
They suggested looking at the following:
"The file that should contain the menu bean is the file specified in the service-level property "Service Adfc Config". Can you check whether this property has a valid value? Also, make sure the advanced service-level checkbox property "generate ADFc Config Files?" is checked."
Where do I locate the service-level property "Service Adfc Config"? I have been looking through all the config files in the application and the preferences in JDeveloper.
I am new to JDeveloper and ADF.

Hi,
It makes perfect sense that menu_root.xml has a reference to the managed bean #{JhsMigrateModuleMenu}.
This bean should be defined in the adfc-config for your appmodule, probably /WEB-INF/adfc-config-jhsmigratemodule.xml
It looks like this (with different names):

I guess that this definition is missing or has the wrong name or something. Perhaps it is pointing to an invalid XML menu model file (in my case /WEB-INF/menu-appmodule.xml)

In order to call out from the database process, is SQL (or PL/SQL) you need to generate some client code, that understand the details about the specific of the service you want to invoke and can produce the correct SOAP request. Once this proxy is uploaded in the Database, you can use it.
There is a set of Database Web services samples that should help you get started. You can also take a look at the developer's guide - see Developing a Web Service Client in the Database.

Shared Memory Areas not accessible in background processing

Hi there
We're using Shared Memory Areas to share data between an on-line transaction and a background program. The on-line transaction collects the data, creates the Shared Memory Area and submits a background job to process it. So, after the detach_commit, it performs submit program via job_name xxxx number nnnn.
It works OK in our dev and quality systems, but does not work in our production system. The memory area is created OK, but the job cannot access it. In the background program, we get the message:
"The read lock on the instance 'ZNNNNNNN' in the client '100' of the shared objects memory area 'ZCL_XXX' cannot be set, since there is no active version of this area instance. However, the area constructor for the automatic construction of the area instance was started."
On the SMA side, we've tried seemingly every combination, even "propagate_instance".
The job seems to be running on the same application server as the SMA.
Any ideas about what we're doing wrong, anyone?

Hello Ged,
Please remember that SHM is accessible across one App Server(AS) only.
If your SAP landscape has multiple AS's then it might pose a problem. When you're scheduling the background job, i guess that the Bgd work process is started in a different AS(load balancing ) and hence SHM is no accessible.
If this is the case, then you've no other option but to store the data persistently in DB clusters viz., INDX-type tables (EXPORT TO/IMPORT FROM DATABASE).

Clone to New Windows Hardware: appsTier Apache Service not Created

I am trying to migrate my production 11.5.9 apps on windows to new hardware. This is a one to one clone. The only things that are changing are:
1. OS User Name
2. Server Names
3. APPL Top, COMN Top, 8.0.6 Home and iAS Home on the target server.
I have completed the move of the dbTier to the new DB Node. When I run perl adcfgclone.pl appsTier on the new server for the APPS and WEB node it completes with no errors and creates a number of non-used servers but does not create the Appace or the Forms services.
Any help would be great!!! I need to have this done before the end of the weekend for testing!!!

I reviewed the logs but did not see anything... but I am not realy sure what to tlook for.

Hello,
I created a Management Server Repository using OEMCA and an existing SID. According to the details displayed at the end of the wizard I assume that the process was finished successfully:
(NT-Service OracleOraHome81 ManagementServer is started...
Disconnect from oms@instancename....
Returning to connection system@instancename...
Process finished.
Yet the Oracle Management Server Service can not be found in SERVICES in the control panel...and therefore can't be started manually.
I have OS-Administrator Privileges.
I use Oracle 8.1.7 on WinNT.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Management Agent service not created with 10gR2 RAC DB install on Win2003?

Our 10gR2 RAC installation on Win2003 platform didn't create management agent service. After installing and setting up current release of OEM with Grid Control (10.1) and installing Management Agent from 10.1 OEM distribution (install additional management agents option), agent service is up and running. However, there is one small problem:
All target configuration xml files are created under 10.2 Oracle home, and agent running from 10.1 home does not see them - which means database, listener, etc are not registered in OEM.
Is this a known problem, and is there solution for it?

Multiply fields not created yet

Hi,
in my attached example...I have a quantity and unit cost that need multiplied together to = the cost.
That cost should then be totaled for all the subrows and listed in the cost field of the header row.
I'm confused on how/where to add the multiplication script for the quantity and unit cost fields.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

I have an updated file now where the first row added under header 1 multiplies quantity x unit cost, but it doesn't multiply it if you add a second row.
Any ideas...?

I've just installed 8.1.7 on a Solaris 8 workstation. The installation went fine up until the database creation assistant tried to create a database: it failed. But the software was all installed, so I did a "connect internal" and created a database myself. Once I start the database, I can connect as system/manager; but when the database is shutdown, connecting as system manager gives me an "Oracle not available" error (ORA-01034) followed by a "shared memory realm not available" error (ORA-27101) followed by a "no such file or directory" error (SVR4 Error: 2:).
All of the shared memory and semaphore parameters are specified in the /etc/system file, and they show up when I execute a "sysdef -i" command.
Any ideas why I'm getting these errors?
I did a search and found a few posts on "shared memory realm," but none of them seemed to address the fact that I can connect when the database is started/mounted, but not when it's shutdown.

make sure the env var ORACLE_SID is set.
check PROCESSES in your init.ora file. if you lower this number (to say, 15) and errors go away then you need to up the semiphores kernel parameter (or leave PROCESSES set to a low number). Also, it is correct to get an error when trying to connect to a database that is shutdown. the only way to not get an error is use svrmgrl or "sqlplus /nolog" and then connect / as sysdba (or connect internal).

Shared memory (System V-style) - High usage of phys memory and page outs

Hi!
I get a much higher usage of physical memory when I use shared memory than I would expect. Please, I would really need someone to confirm my conclusions, so that I can revise my ignorance in this subject.
In my experiments I create a shared memory segment of 200 MB and I have 7 processes attaching to it. I have a ws of 1 GB.
I expect to see what I see when I attach to the shared memory segment in terms of virtual size, i.e. SIZE in prstat. After attaching (mapping it) to the process all 7 processes are about ~203 MB each and this makes sense. RSS, in prstat, is about 3 MB for each process and this is ok to me too.
It is what I see when each of the 7 processes start to write a simple string like 'Hello!' in parallel to each page in their shared memory segment that I get surprised. I run out of memory on my ws after a while and the system starts to wildly page out physical memory to disk so that the next 'Hello!' can be written to the next page in the shared memory segment. It seems that each page written to in the shared memory chunk is mapped into each process private address space. This means that the shared memory is not physically shared, just virtually shared. Is this correct?
Can memory be physically shared, so that my 7 processes only use 200 MB? ISM? DISM?
I create a shared memory segment in a C-program with the following calls:

Explanation
1. 왜 Problem 이 생기나?
* Oracle 은 Process와 SGA(System Global Area) 간의
Communication를 위해 Shared Memory와 Semaphore 를 사용한다.
Oracle Instance 가 뜰 때 SGA를 Create하기 위해 Main Memory의
임의의 부분을 할당하는데 이 때 Shared Memory 나 Semaphore 가
적절하지 않으면 이에 관련한 Error가 발생한다.
2. 해결 방안
SGA는 Shared Memory 안에 생기므로 Shared Memory 는 각 Process에게
사용 가능해야 한다.
Shared memory 와 Semaphore parameter 는
- SHMMAX = 1개의 shared memory segment 의 maximum size,
SGA 크기 이상
- SHMMIN = 1개의 shared memory segment 의 minimum size, 1 byte
- SHMMNI = shared memory identifier의 숫자, 100 이상
- SHMSEG = 1개의 process에 attach되는 shared memory segment의
maximum 갯수, 10 이상
- SEMMNS = system의 semaphore 갯수, 200 이상

Shared Memory 와 Semaphore Parameter는 OS 의 Kernel Configuration
화일에 반드시 지정되어야 하며, File의 위치는 OS마다 차이가 있다.
현재의 Shared Memory 와 Semaphore Configuration 을 알기 위해서는
다음의 Command를 이용한다.

1. Oracle Instance를 Shutdown 한다.
2. OS의 Kernel Configuration File이 있는 곳으로 간다.
3. System Utility 또는 Editor를 이용해서 필요한 값을 바꾼다.

Parameter들이 있다. OS의 Shared Momory와 Semaphore Parameter에
연결된 이 Parameter의 setting은 System과 Oracle의 Performance에

system does not seem to using memory correctly, lots of swapping on an 8GB real memory system.We could start (for example) with this question - How big is your SGA or how much of 8GB RAM takes your SGA?
The doc says to set /etc/system to:
shmsys:shminfo_shmmax project.max-shm-memory 4294967296
but infers that this is not used.From documentation:
In Solaris 10, you are not required to make changes to the /etc/system file to implement the System V IPC. Solaris 10 uses the resource control facility for its implementation. However, Oracle recommends that you set both resource control and /etc/system/ parameters. Operating system parameters not replaced by resource controls continue to affect performance and security on Solaris 10 systems.
Then, the doc states to set a project shared mem value of 2GB:
# projmod -sK "project.max-shm-memory=(privileged,2G,deny)" group.dba
Why is this number different?It's an example how "To set the maximum shared memory size to 2 GB"
By setting to to 2G as documented oracle did not work at all Docs says:
On Solaris 10, verify that the kernel parameters shown in the following table are set to values greater than or equal to the recommended value shown.
If your SGA was greater than 2G I'm nor wondering why "oracle did not work at all".
So for 4GB SGA (for example) you need allow allocation of 4G of shared memory.
Note: shmsys:shminfo_shmmax != project.max-shm-memory. "project.max-shm-memory" is replacement of "shmsys:shminfo_shmmax" but function of these parameters differs.
"project.max-shm-memory resource control limits the total amount of shared memory of one project, whereas previously, the shmsys:shminfo_shmmax parameter limited the size of a single shared memory segment."
