Shared Object --does ADC recognize it at all with any profile?

http://www.mediafire.com/?uytnzzyn4md
I made this little sample file to get a handle on SharedObjects.  Got it functioning just fine in Flash Player 10.  (AS 2.0)
But I tried to make it work in the emulator, and couldn't get any phone that supports SharedObjects to read the data back into Flash once it's written out.
I tried Nokia 6290,6600,7210, and others that have a device profile that shows support for the shared object.
But none of them read data back off the disk.
Has anybody been able to make the shared object work in the emulator?

Thanks for the heads up.  I actually found this yesterday, but not by searching within Adobe, which gave me nothing.  I went to Google and tried a couple of search strings and in short order came up with this very tutorial!  Adobe should take lessons from google, or yahoo, or just about anybody, on how to enable people to drill down into their huge mountain of experience and data.
Now, on to making this work in my project.  It works in the example, so, I have high hopes...

• My iTunes does not recognize my iPod all of a sudden

Hello, My iTunes does not recognize my iPod all of a sudden.  Today before I went running I downloaded some new podcasts to listen to.  I plugged in my iPod and for some reason iTunes could not recognize my iPod nano.  I run iTunes on Windows 8.1 on a Surface Pro and have successfully synced my iPod before with this system.  I do not know why it doesn't work now.
Per the instructions on Apple Help, I went through the troubleshoot steps (i.e., restarting iTunes, restarting my computer, updating iTunes, etc.).  When all that failed, I uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled it but this still does not work.
I cannot afford to purchase help through Apple, but I like running and I like listening to new stuff when I run.  Can someone please help me on this board?  I am pretty good with walking myself through simple computer steps.
Thank you in advance!

Yes.  New school does not need them. There is a Recovery partition build into the new Lion OS that takes the place of DVD's.

• Canon 60d does not recognize 430ex II flash. Any suggestions?

Canon 60d does not recognize 430ex II flash. On the menu screen it says that the flash is either of or not compatible.
Any suggestions? Any books or guides recommended?
Thanks
Solved!
Go to Solution.

A few...
I trust you have verified that the flash fully powers up and you get the red pilot lamp showing it's ready to fire.
On your 60D menu system, if you find the "Flash control" option, you can make sure you haven't set the external speedlite to "disable" -- although I think in that mode you wouldn't get the message you're describing.  i.e. I doubt this is it but you may as well double-check.
A more common reason for failure is that the flash camera can't fully communicate with the flash.  This is usually because of a bad connection in the "foot" of the flash.
The flash needs to be fully seated in the hot-shoe rails.  Make sure the lock level is released, slide the flash fully into the hot-shoe rails until it stops.  Engage the lock on the foot so it's held securely (it will will slide to the right and then click-to-snap (you have to press the tiny button to release the lock lever).  This doesn't *just* snug the foot... it also drops a tiny metal locking pin into a small hole in the hot shoe so that the flash cannot slide out.
At that point, the "foot" of the flash is actually the "ground" connection and it's in contact with the metal rails of the hot-shoe AND all five of the contacts on the foot should be in contact with the camera.
This assumes there's nothing wrong with the flash -- and there could be something wrong with it.   So if you're confident you've fully seated the flash, then remove the flash and inspect the "foot" on the flash.
The metal plate on the foot of the flash should be solid... if you use your fingers and attempt to wiggle it (don't use heavy force... we don't want to break it -- just grasp it firmly and see if it will wiggle at all) it should not move.  If it does move it means that the foot has come loose and is not secured to the flash body (there are four very tiny screws which hold it securely but they can only be accessed from the inside of the flash.
Next... inspect the 5 metal pins on the foot of the flash.  Each of these pins is spring-loaded so that they'll press against the 5 contact points in the camera hot-shoe.  I have occasionally seen a spec of something (e.g. a bit of sand) get wedged in and "jam" a pin so that it it no longer makes contact with the contact on the hot-shoe.  If you view the foot of the flash from an edge-on view, all the pins should spring back out to the same height.  If one of them is recessed lower than the rest... it's jammed.
The 430EX II has a solid reputation as a work-horse flash.  It tends to be among the more reliable flashes on failures are rare.
It's also possible that the problem is in the camera.  An easy test of this is to try another speedlite (if you have one or if you have a friend who has one.)  If it is your speedlite, and it's under warranty, then it's probably a simple remedy by Canon service.
If the flash is not under warranty and the problem is with the hot-shoe connection not being solid, then it's often an easy repair.  If a foot were irreparably damaged, the entire foot can be replaced (the whole thing is a module) and it's an easy and I believe somewhat low-cost repair.

You are probably going to want to upgrade your memory (RAM). While 2 GB is the stated minimum, realistically 4 GB seems to be the consensus minimum. More is better.
The 2 places I’ve seen recommended most to buy reliable RAM are below. I have purchased RAM several times from Other World Computing and have always been very satisfied with the product and service. They have on-line instructions on how to replace the RAM. OWC has also tested RAM above what Apple states is the maximum. I now have 6GB installed on a machine supposedly limited to 4 GB.

• Photoshop CS4 does not recognize raw photos taken with newer cameras. Anyone else have this problem?

Photoshop CS4 will not recognize RAW2 photos taken with my new Panasonic Lumix FZ100 camera. This camera is listed in Adobe's 6.2 Camera Raw update for Photoshop CS5 but cannot be loaded in CS4. I paid a lot of money for CS4 and don't want to buy CS5 just because I bought a new camera, but it appears that Adobe no longer updates Camera Raw for CS4 or with newer cameras. When I called the Help Desk to find out if there was some kind of patch I could get to make CS4 compatible with my new camera a gentleman in New Delhi informed me that he couldn't even answer my question until I paid $40 since answering questions about CS4 was a "paid service." I hung up in a rage. Does anyone else have this problem and is there a solution?

This camera is listed in Adobe's 6.2 Camera Raw  update for Photoshop CS5 but cannot be loaded in CS4.
Adobe does indeed not update obsolete versions of Camera Raw for new camera types.
And guess what: It’s the camera producers who seem to like to change their raws – so how about spreading some of your indignation their way?
I paid a lot of  money for CS4 and don't want to buy CS5 just because I bought a new  camera
The upgrade is cheaper than buying the full version.
Anyway, you could try the free DNG Converter which should be able to handle everything the most recent version of Camera Raw can handle.

• My Imac does not recognize a TEAC CDW54E with Mac OS 10.2.8

I have an iMac 333Mhz and a TEAC CDW54E external USB CD Burner. This burner works so good with Mac OS 9.2.1, but when I start my computer using Mac OS 10.2.8. the finder does not activate and recognize the CD burner. This burner needs that the finder activated the CD unit in order to recognize it. The Apple System Profile recognize an extenal USB Mass Storage Unit, but not the TEAC CDW54E CD burner. The Toast 5.2 Lite does not recognize any recorder present. I want to know if somebody have a driver or a Terminal Instruction in order to help the Mac OS 10.2 to recognize this CD burner.
Best regards.
Jose Blanco.

I have the same drive (a PC friend gave it to me when they upgraded to an internal drive). Teac does NOT support the Mac. The only way I could get the CDW54E to work was in OS 9 and only with an older version of Toast. I gave up and brought the drive to work where I have to use a PC. It works fine with XP Pro. My suggestion (if it fits into your budget) is buy a $99.00 DVD/CDRW burner and be done with it (I suggest one like this model from OWC: http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/firewire/optical-drives/). When you get the chance to buy a newer Mac, a drive like this will make the move with you easily. Trying to get this burner to work in OS X will continue to be a lesson in frustration. Good luck. I hope you find a way to prove me wrong. The cheapest alternative is forget about burning disks in OS X and keep on burning them in OS 9.

About 30 minutes ago, I was adding some music to the ipod Nano.  Everything was working fine.  Now, the ipod will not turn on at all.  When I connect it to the laptop with the USB, the computer does not even recognize it.  The screen has a fant image of the plug on it and it says connected.  I followed the procedures for disconnecting it when I was finished with it earlier.  Any idea what is going on here???
Thanks

It probably needs to be reset. The procedure is different for different Nano models: http://www.apple.com/support/ipodnano/assistant/itunes/

• Computer Does Not Recognize Ethernet at All

I directly connect to the internet on my MacBook using an ethernet cord. For the past two weeks, the computer hasn't recognized it, including when I run Network Diagnostics. We have still been able to connect to the internet on our PlayStation 3 using all the same tools (modem, cords everything), so I know for sure that the problem is not the internet service provider, or the cords or modems themselves. I have read other forums about internet problems but none of the solutions has fixed my problem yet. Even Apple Care is having a hard time helping me fix this.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thank you!

Hi - my notes on this
NO CAMERA or A/D-box
Cable
• Are You sure that You are using the FireWire Cable - USB-Cable will not work for miniDV tape Cameras
FireWire - Sure not using the accompany USB-Cable but bought a 4-pin to 6-pin (or 9-pin) FW one ?
• Test another FW-Cable very often the problem maker.
Camera
• Test Your Camera on another Mac so that DV-in still works OK
• Toggle in iMovie pref. Play-back via Camera (on <-> off some times)
• Some Cameras has a Menu where You must select DV-out to get it to work
• Camera connected to "charger" (mains adaptor) - not just on battery
• Camera set in Playback mode - NOT Recording mode
Does Your Camera work on another Mac ?
Sorry to say it is to easy to turn the 6-pin end of the FW-cable 180 deg wrong.
This is lethal to the A/D-chip in the Camera = needs an expensive repair.
(Hard to find out - else than import/export to another Mac ceased to work
everything else is OK e.g. recording and playback to TV)
A/D-box
• Is the dip-switches set right ?
• Set to same standard as recorded/editing e.g. NTSC 29.97fps or PAL 25fps
• Try resetting it
Connections
• Daisy Chaining most often doesn’t work (some unique cases - it’s the only way that work (some Canon Cameras ?))
Try to avoid connecting Camera <--> external HD <--> Mac but import directly to the Mac then move
the Movie project to dedicated external hard disk.
• FireWire-port - Can be re-setted by - Turn off Mac and disconnecting Mac from Mains/Power for 20-30 minutes
External device’s (hard disk’s)
• Should be FireWire as USB/USB2 performs badly and so does Airport or Net-work connected ones too.
• MUST BE - Mac OS Extended formatted - UNIX/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange - DO NOT WORK for video due to 4Gb barrier.
Mac
• Free space on internal (start-up) hard disk ? Please specify the amount of free space.
(Other hard disks don't count)
I go for a minimum of 25Gb free space for 4x3 SD Video - and my guess is 5 times more for 16x9 HD ones
after material is imported and edited. No Camera or A/D-box
• GarageBands fix - Close iMovie, Open GarageBand, Play some notes, Close GB and iMove can now be OK
• Does Your Mac have a FireWire Port
• White MacBooks - don't
• MacBook-Air - don't
if not then a few Mac’s has a PCM-CIA slot and there are FW-Cards that makes a FW-port this way
else - NO SOLUTION
Only option as I get it is either
• Use another Mac to Capture material (to an external USB2 - Mac OS Extended formatted hard disk - or -
• Change to another Camera that can be used with Your Mac (no there are no miniDV tape Cameras that can)
• If Your Mac-Book has a PCM-CIA Card place - then there are FW-port-Cards and then
You can import via this - but I've not seen this on more modern Macs. My PowerBook G4
has one and this FW-Card-port works greatly.
SoftWare
• Delete iMovie pref. file may help sometimes. I rather start a new account, log into this and have a re-try.
• Any strange Plug-ins into QuickTime as Perian etc ? Remove and try again.
• FileVault is off ? (hopefully)
• Screen Saver - OFF
• Energy Saver - OFF
Using WHAT versions ? .
• Mac OS - X.5.4 ?
• QuickTime version ? (This is the heart in both iMovie and FinalCut)
• iMovie’08 (7.1.?), 09 or 11 ?
• iMovie HD 6 (6.0.4/3) ?
Other ways to import Your miniDV tape
• Use another Camera. There where tape play-back stations from SONY
but they costed about 2-4 times a normal miniDV Camera.
• If Your Camera works on another Mac. Make an iMovie movie project here and move it
over to Your Mac via an external hard disk.
(HAS TO BE   Mac OS Extended   formatted - USB/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange WILL NOT DO)
(Should be a FireWire one - USB/USB2 performs badly)

Hi Bengt W, I tried it all, but nothing worked. Your answer has been helpful insofar as all the different trials led to the conclusion that there was something wrong with my iMovie software. I therefore threw everything away and reinstalled iMovie from the HD. After that the exportation of DV videos (there has not been any problem with HDV videos) to my Sony camcorders worked properly as it did before. Thank you. LKN 1935

camera set to 'Play' , not rec/computer/etc.?

Thanks for all your suggestions. What I learned is that I had a software problem. I had something called "Nikon Transfer" on my Mac that was recognizing my Canon camcorder as a still camera and was preventing iMovie from working properly. After un-installing Nikon Transfer and doing a reboot, everything worked great.
I never liked the Nikon Transfer software anyway--I guess I'll get a cheap card reader and use that to transfer photos in the future.
No Camera or bad import

Maybe your problems is solved in the meantime, but for all others this might help as I had the same problem, also have the Sony HDR-HC7, but the 7e (Europe, PAL). I found this link today and it works perfectly
//support.sony-europe.com/tutorials/dime/videotransfer/vtransfer.aspx site=odw_en_GB&sec=DVH&m=HDR-HC7E
What I exactly did.- put camera in play mode - open guide - choose connection guide - choose comp./printer (where to transfer movie to) - select connection.- i-link (on my camera) but equal to firewire - OK - choose HDV - choose NO for conversion of i.link.
Settings are shown then (VCR HDV/DV.- HDV and i.link-conv..- OFF), press OK, OK, END.
Switch camera off. Connect firewire cable to camera & Mac. Switch camera on, in play/edit mode.
Open i-movie, choose import from camera. On screen below the camera connection is shown.- DV (HDV). Now you can import, automatically or manually.
This worked perfectly for me. Took me 2 days to find out. Could not find any clear thread explaining what I had to do on the camera and the manual was not clear either.
