Shared Photo Albums

I have a shared photo album but fear the source photo album may be deleted as I have a broken phone. Does anyone know if my shared album will remain in tact without it's source?

Same. I see shared albums on my phone, but the Shared section of the Photos app is totally blank. On my Mac iCloud settings I have turned off the iCloud Photo Library but I have the Photostream and Shared albums feature turned on.
I also did a test where I took a photo with my phone while connected to a WiFi network. This photo has not showed up in the photo stream or the main photos view after several minutes.
I should probably clarify that it was all working prior to the upgrade. That is, I had the proper settings enabled in both iPhone and Mac to have the sharing and photo stream working flawlessly.

  • Cannot access shared photo album in iPhoto 9.4.3 on mac

I cannot access a shared photo album in iPhoto 9.4.3.  The directions in help tell me to go to iPhoto preferences > photo stream, and check the box next to "select the shared photo stream checkbox".  There is no such option in my version.  Can anyone help?  Thanks!

I cannot access a shared photo album in iPhoto 9.4.3
Is this a shared photo album from iPhoto on a mobile device or a Shared Photo Stream?
If a shared Photo Stream you should have this preference pane in iPhoto 9.4.3:
Check the boxes as shown in this screenshot and then go to the Photo Stream section in iPhoto and see if they appear.

  • Problems with iCloud shared photo album

I am subscribed to a shared photo album via iCloud. I had to restore my phone, and afterwards, my shared album was blank, no photos there.
It appears fine on my iPad; I can see all photos previously added.
I made sure that I have iCloud Photo Sharing on. I also had the owner of the album to delete and re-add me.

If the photos were synced to the iPod you have to unsync them or use a third-party program like TouchCopy or PhoneView to delete them.

  • HT201060 Is there a way to be selective about which photos are automatically uploaded to the Family Sharing photo album?

Family Sharing is set up, and "My Photo Stream" and "iCloud Photo Sharing" features are enabled on all devices.  However, I would like to limit which photos are shared in the Family Sharing photo album.  Here are two scenarios:
I'm shopping for a gift for my daughter at the store, and I see the item I think she'll like.  In Messages I want to snap a photo to send to my wife to get her buy-in (authorization), but when I do this, the photo is also automatically uploaded to the Family Sharing album, and my daughter can see it on her iPod Touch until I delete it from iCloud.
On her iPod Touch, my daughter browses images of kittens and cats, cats and kittens (she's 10), and saves many of them to her camera roll to view later.  In turn, our Family Sharing photo album is full of random pictures of kittens.
Perhaps all I need to do is turn off "My Photo Stream", to prevent all photos being uploaded to all devices automatically?  And in the event I want to share a photo or an event/moment, I can create a Photo Stream on the spot...?

Probably the best solution is to put your daughter on her own iCloud ID (but under your name since she's under-aged).  She can continue to use your ID for iTunes store purchases. If you set her up with a separate iCloud ID, then her photo activity and yours will remain separate.
The Family Sharing feature may not be relevant or helpful in this scenario -- as I understand it, Family Sharing is for the sharing of purchases, not iCloud, and only in situations when family members have separate IDs for purchases but want to also share the purchases from a "central ID" (e.g. Parent's ID)

  • Shared photo album on my iPad no longer Working

please can you help me with a new issue I'm having?  I've been using shared photo albums for months but suddenly the shared album I've been using for the month of March is not working properly on my iPad.
I've posted a new photo to the 'March' album but I can only see it on my iPad, not on my iPhone. And none of my invitees can see it either. The album is still there with all the other photos in it, just not the new photo.
IVe ve checked my wifi connection and all is good. Ive disconnected it and reconnected it. I've rebooted the iPad. I've turned off photosharing and turned it back on again. I've closed all the open apps on the iPad.
IVe setup a new album and invited people to it and they've accepted. But they can't see the test photo I posted to the new album either. I can see it there though.
What hat else should I do?
thanks for any help you can give me.

  • I invited someone to my shared photo album but it's telling them the photo stream is no longer shared even though it's there???

I am trying to add my dad to my shared photo folder and every time he get's the invite and clicks the subscribe button it tells him the photo stream is no longer shared. Apple support says that if you get that message that the owner (me) must have removed the folder or your invite but I didn't! My husband joined without any problems. I'm NOT trying to start a family shared group where we share everything, just let him see my one photo album. Please help as we can NOT figure this out!

  • Why is my shared photo album no longer there?

I created a shared photo stream with some friends and added about 14 pictures to it. That was yesterday and now I go to the shared tab on my photos and all my other created shared photo streams are there but not one particular one. Has this happened to anyone else? How can I get it back?

Ooooookay, now it is there. Basically it disappeared for a while and then reappeared. Why did it do that?

  • Best solution for shared photo album?

I’ve haven’t dipped much into the Photo ecosystem of iOS (mainly because my original iPad never had a camera, I don’t have an iPhone, and on the laptop my workflow doesn’t rely on iPhoto).    As such, I’m not sure what the best solutions are for the following:
Some elderly family members will soon be getting an iPad.  I’d like them to be able to, with mimimal clicks, open an app, open an album, and then see all the new/current photos that have been added to a shared album. Photos would be added to the album mainly by a few other people elsewhere (via email or the web).    Specifically, those people likely would be sending photos from either an iPad or an iPhone.
Are there any best ways to do this?    I don’t want it to involve Facebook.   It sounds like the Web Albums HD for Picasa app may be what I want to make use of on their side, but can people contribute to the album without having a picasa/google account?  Are there downsides to that app?
    Thanks,

If I understand you right then you want all users to have "read" access to all folders/files on your shared disk but "read" and "write" access to their own folders/files.
If this is the setup you are looking for then it is not possible with either an Airport Extreme disk or any of the LaCie Ethernet mini disks (NAS).
Basically what you can do it to have a shared folder where everybody has "read" access and then private folders for each user, where the specific user has "read" and "write" access.
I will suggest that you go to www.lacie.com and download a user manual for one of the NAS drives and you can here at the Apple site download the user guide for the Airport Extreme.

my photo stream does not work at all. I've tried making a new album, but that does not work. So I've tried using an already existing album and deleting the pictures there. I decided to only upload 1 photo from my old phone (iPhone 4s iOS 7.1.1) to see if it'll show up on my new device (iPhone 5 iOS 8.1.1) it doesnt even show up in my new phone (iPhone 6 iOS 8.1.2) this picture is what shows up on both my iPhone 6 and 5 but on the 4s there is a picture that I "uploaded" and a second one that came out of nowhere. I do not know what to do because in the past this has worked out for me and it shows up on all three devices

You can't restore to a backup that was taken on a device which has a higher version of iOS than on your iPad, you will have to update your iPad to 8.1.3 to be able to restore to it
You should be able to update your iPad via Settings > General > Software Update

  • How can I add photo albums on my Mac to my iCloud shared album?

I recently upgraded from iPhoto to the new Photos app on my Mac.  I then decided to try iCloud Photo Sharing.  I have 10,000 photos on my Mac and I keep them organized by albums.  I cannot figure out how to add entire selected existing photo albums in my Photos app which reside on my Mac to icloud Photo Sharing rather than adding photos one at a time.  It would take me forever to go through my 10,000 photos to choose which ones I want to share.  I just want to share certain albums.  Please help!  MacBook Pro Late 2011 Mac OS 10.10.3

Open the album and select all of the photos.  click on the Share button and select the Shared Photo Album you want to add them to (or create a new shared album).

  • On Facebook, how can I share another person's photo album to my iPad? It shows up on my Android phone and on my computer, but not on my iPad.

My son posted an album on Facebook; he took the pictures with a regular camera. I shared the album and it immediately showed up on my All-in-One computer and on my Droid phone on my Facebook timeline. It has never appeared on the iPad, so all my friends with iPads are not seeing this photo album. Do yoiu have any idea why?
    Thanks, Naomi

I have discovered the same problem.  The timeline or group that the album is loaded directly to one can see the album and photos. However my habit has been to us my group as archive and then share the album with other groups saving me uploading several times.  If I look at on my desktop I and others like you see the shared album and friends with droid FB apo also see but ones with iOS FB app do not see the shared album be it on a friend/family member timeline another group.  I do not think this used to be, if almost seems that recent updates of the applicaion for iOS led to this problem but I am not certain. This is a big issue as I do not have time to upload and describe the same photos on the two to three other groups I share with.  I share your frustration, and there seem to be other things I do not see maybe it is all the shared photos/albums vs ones put on a timeline or group.  Not acceptable...

  • Sort order in iCloud shared photo stream

I have an album of photos in iPhoto v9.5.1 which I want to share using the iCloud shared photo stream.  I've carefully sorted the photos in the album.  But when I create and send the invite for the shared photo stream, it automatically re-orders the photos by date and greys out in the menu all other sorting orders.  In other words it entirely ignores the work I put into creating the sort order.
    Is there a fix?

please apple tell me what I have to pay for that a better solution? I will do it!   Photostream makes sense only with possibilties to sort the photos inside a stream! and to sort the streams !! you did such a great job with icloud and photo stream - but it is not finished!!!!
    Thanks a lot in advance!
You are trying to use Shared Photo Streams as shared Photo albums or slideshows, but they are intended as communication channels, not as online albums.  If you treat them as streams, as they are intended to be used, it makes perfectly sense, that the images appear in the order they have been added.  Drop a photo into the stream, your friend will send a different photo back, etc. Any other sort order would make the streaming cumbersome, when the stream gets long. You will want to see the most recently added photo at the head of the stream, to see immediately what is new.  iPhoto on iOS device has web journals and slideshows to share online with friends, but in iPhoto on a Mac these are still missing.
I'd like to encourage you to send feedback about the usuability to the developers. After all, right now the iCloud drive and the new Photos.app for storing photos in the cloud is under developement. Since nothing at all has been announced yet how this feature will integrate with iPhoto and Aperture on a Mac, feedback will be very useful.

  • Shared Photo stream doesn't work? (note: Photostream does)

I Have the new 5s and I set up iCloud. My Photo Stream works fine. If I take pictures on my iPad, they show up on my iphone no problem.
BUT I noticed that none of the SHARED photo albums I had before are showing up on my iPhone. Also, if I create a shared album and send out invites, no one receives the invites.
And before anyone says anything, ALL photo stream and photo sharing settings are turned ON. I even tried deleting my iCloud account off of my iphone and re-adding it. No luck there.

Having the same problem. Did you ever find a solution?

  • HT201317 I have a MobileMe account and have shared many MobileMe Galleries.  MobileMe Galleries are going away in June.  How can I share a photo album with others using iCloud?

I have a MobileMe account and have shared many MobileMe Galleries.  MobileMe Galleries are going away in June.  How can I share a photo album with others using iCloud?

The new ios version of iPhoto allows sharing.  Here's a blurb from Apple's web site:
There’s the old way of creating photo galleries, then there’s the iPhoto way. Select a group of photos and iPhoto automatically flows them into a beautiful journal that’s fun to personalize and share online. Touch a photo to make it bigger or smaller. Or drag it to a different spot on the screen. iPhoto adjusts the page around whatever you’re doing, so your journal always looks great. You can even add captions, maps, dates, and weather — giving family and friends the big picture at a glance.
    More things you can do:
With iPhoto, there’s more than one way to share a photo. Post pictures directly to Facebook, Flickr, or Twitter. Play an impromptu slideshow on your iPad or iPhone. Or stream photos to your HDTV to give your big moments room to shine.
I have not used ios version of iPhoto to share "journals" and I'm not sure this is part of iCloud or not.  You'll have to do a google search on "ios iphoto" and read up of this journal thing.  As far as I know, this is the only way of sharing photos.  I'm not sure whether other friends use a browser to view these journals or whether they need something special.  Any way - search around to find answers.
