Shared photo streams no longer updating in iPhoto since Yosemite upgrade

I just noticed that new photos are not being downloaded to the shared photo streams in iPhoto on my iMac.  I am getting all new photos in my iPhone and iPad... just not on the iMac.
Anyone encountered this or have any solutions?

Disable Photo Stream in the System/iCloud preference pane
and in iPhoto's Photo Stream preference pane.
Reboot and reenable both respectively. That should jump start Photo Streams.
If the above doesn't work this method posted by user  Willis I Am might do the job for you:

I do not know if anyone ever runs into this issue anymore, but the Apple Engineers helped me fix this recently.
They had me do the following:
Turn off Photo Stream in your user account: (second screenshot above)
Quit iPhoto
Goto System Preferences > iCloud > Uncheck Photo Stream.l (first screenshot above)
Close System Preferences
Then deleting the entire ~/Library/Application Support/iLifeAssetManagement/ directory.
Open Terminal and type in cd Library
then type open . (open space period)
navigate to Application Support and delete the iLifeAssetManagement folder.
quit terminal
Then turn photo stream back on in their photo library.
open iPhoto and click on Photo stream in the left column.
enable photo stream.
It will take some time to download the cached photos but this resolved my problem of having 0 display and no photos in the "My Photo Stream" area when any of my other devices showed new photo stream photos without any problems.

  • Shared photo stream no longer working.  Please help

I was making shared photo streams on my MacBook Pro, iPhoto 9.5, Mavericks, no problem.  The past week, 90% of the time, it fails.  I have tried dragging photos into iCloud, and now the photos are not even accepted.  Please help.  Tons of photos to save (also save on Carbonite), but want them in iCloud to share with family.

Tons of photos -  have you perhaps exceeded one of the the limits? Then you wll have to wait a bit, see:

  • HT4858 Is anyone else having problems with shared photo stream URLs not updating after photos are added or deleted from a shared photo stream?

I have made quite a few shared photo streams and love the idea of sharing easily with a variety of friends and family. The problem in having is that any modifications made to the shared photostream (adding/deleting pictures) are not updated in the URL I have sent to my family and friends. Is anyone else experiencing this? Does anyone have any ideas or solutions?

  • Shared photo streams not working in new iPhoto?

I upgraded to Mavericks and the new iPhoto to be able to work with the shared photo streams I'd created on my iPhone, but they seem to be nonfunctional in iPhoto 11. I'll select photos, create a stream, and add the photos; the pictures will say "added to shared photo stream", but the stream itself will be entirely empty.
Quite simply, iPhoto says it's creating and adding pix to photo streams, but it isn't. How do I fix this? It's sort of a major omission to have a prominent new feature not actually function at all.

iCloud photo sharing, which allows subscribers to add photos and videos to a shared stream created by you, will not be supported until OS X Mavericks is released.  OS X Mountain Lion only supports shared photo streams, which does not allow subscribers to add photos.
Notice that is says "(iPhoto and Aperture users will not see photos and videos added by iCloud Photo Sharing contributors at this time.)" under "What do I need to be able to like photos and videos in a shared stream" in this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4379.  Also note that is says "Coming with OS X Mavericks" under "iCloud Photo Sharing" in this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4759.

  • Shared photo-stream, makes long file names with 42 random characters

Windows icloud 3.1, in a shared photo-stream, makes file names with 42  random characters long. It didn't do this in iCloud  2. I have installed  iCloud 3.1 on a windows 8.0 and 8.1 machine and two Windows 7 machines.  They all do the same thing.  It used to give me file names like  "IMG_0001.jpg" now it gives me random file names like  "01a9fc3363330464233a142486180f0c1622eb9fca.jpg" all the pictures are  out order.
Does anyone have fix for this? Does any one else have this  problem? I have posted this before and know one else that uses windows  seams to have this problem exect me. I did call Apple and they did some  research and bumped me up to senior  techs and eventuality Apple told me this is working the way it was  designed to. This is extremely stupid, I need the sequential file names  so the pictures will sort correctly.

I have never found a solution for this.
I did find a Work Around. What I do when I receive a folder full of pictures from another ios iPhone user, I copy all the photos as a batch from the PhotoStream folder into a free Windows program called "FastStone Photo Resizer" from www.FastStone.org. This program allows you to resize the photos as a batch to what ever size you wish. In my case I resize them to 2560 x 1440 which fills my 27" monitor and reduces the file size of each picture from 2MB or 3MB down to about 450 KB without degrading the picture as far as what you see on the screen.
This program will also within the same batch operation, allow you to sort the pictures by "Date Taken" which is the Date and Time the picture was taken. It gets this information from the EXIF data in the jpg file. This program will then rename the files with different numbering format options including date, time, alphanumberic and with just simple numbers starting at what ever number you wish to start with. I can get files that look like this again "IMG_0001.jpg" and have all the pictures in the correct order that they were taken. At this point, I save the pictures directly to a folder on my PC. The cool thing about this is, all the EXIF data is preserved as well. I can process a 100 pictures in less that 60 seconds. I hope this helps. For me, I can now live with this iCloud numbering defect.

  • Shared Photo Stream pics not showing in iPhoto

I have an iPhone 4s running iOS6 and my wife has a new Macbook Pro running Mountain Lion and the latest version of iPhoto.
I created a shared photo stream on my iPhone and sent her the invitation to subscribe.  I also added about 6 photos to the photo stream.  On her mac, she accepts the invitation to the shared photo stream.  Now when she opens iPhoto she sees the photo stream itself but there are 0 pictures in it and even when I add more pictures she never sees them.
    Any ideas?  Thanks!

On your device using iOS 6, try quitting and re-opening the Photos app:
    Quit Photos.
From your Home screen, click your Home button twice. Your open applications should appear in a row at the bottom of your screen.
Scroll to find the Photos icon. Press the icon until the icons jiggle.
Tap the red circle in the upper-left corner of the Photos icon. The icon should disappear from the list.
Tap the Home button again to return to normal operations.
    Also check the following:
From your Home screen, tap Settings > iCloud > Photo Stream, and make sure the slider is set to the ON position.
From the Home screen, tap Settings > Wi-Fi, make sure the slider is set to ON, and that your device is connected to a wireless network.
Ensure that Camera app is closed on the device where you took the photo. Photo Stream will not upload photos from an iOS device until the Camera app is closed.
Ensure your iOS device has not fallen below 20% battery power. To preserve battery life, Photo Stream downloading and uploading are disabled when the battery reaches this threshold. Downloading and uploading will resume once you charge your device, and the battery charge is greater than 20%.

  • My friend sent me an invite for shared photo stream. I've done all the requirement upgrades but everytime i clink on the invite it sends me to the requirements page. Any ideas?

My friend sent me an invite to join a shared photo stream. When I clink on the invite it opens up a page that tells me the steps to ensure I have all the requirements for photo stream. I've triple checked and I do. But it is the same response every time I clink on the invite. Any ideas as to what I"m doing wrong?

It's a fresh install so give the software a try from the Vista area and let us know what works:
This is the Vista 64 bit page so it would be a better chance of working:

  • Photo Stream no longer updating on Mac Photo

    Hardware:
    iPhone 6+ 128GB
    iOS 8.3
    MacBook Pro Retina
    2.4GHz i5
    8GB
    OS X Yosemite 10.10.3
    Hope you can help. Please.
Updated to Photo on all my devices. All working fine until Saturday and now when I take a picture (or screen grab / save pic / etc) on my iPhone it no longer appears in Photo on my Mac.
If I put the pic in a shared stream album it appears, but it doesn't appear in the 'Photos' or 'All Photos' section of Photo on the Mac.
    I haven't changed any settings.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.
    Dave

I moved my old photo stream file (with the pictures from when it did work) to a dvd-r. Then I uninstalled iCloud from the control panel. Restarted my computer and reinstalled iCloud from the web. It gave me new folders with pictures from my devices. It does not send all of the pictures rather only the last 100 ish. My photo stream on my iPad and iPhone where unaffected. It's the best I've come up with.

  • HT201317 How come my photo stream no longer updates photos automotically?

My phone no longer updates photos which I take automotically and the settings have not changed. I've also deleted many photos in my photostream so there's definitely enough room. My phone and laptop are also connected to wifi and icloud is on.. Can't figure out why this isn't working..

You might have to go to Settings>iCloud and turn photo stream off, then back on to get it working again.  To avoid losing any photos in the process, open your my photo stream album, tap Edit, tap the photos you want to keep, tap Share, tap Save to Camera Roll.  When you turn photo stream back on, you will only get photos added in the last 30 days.  Older photos are removed from your photo stream (even though they will remain on your device until deleted or you turn photo stream off).
Also, photos are only added to photo stream when you are connected to wifi, the camera app is closed and you have at least 20% battery life remaining.

  • HT4906 why doesn't iPhoto shared photo stream update

I have created a shared phot stream on my IOS devices and they update ok.
I have invited others and they are allowed to post.
I can see all posted photo's on all IOS devices.
I cannot see any phot's posted by oyhers on my Mac in iPhoto.
iPhoto updates fine when I post from an IOS device but does not when someone else posts.
Ny ideas how I can see all shared photo's in iPhoto on my Mac the same as all the IOS subscribers

Are your IOS devices on IOS 7? And have your shared streams been created on IOS 7?
iPhoto '11 on Mt. Lion is not yet fully compatible with the new Shared Photo Streams format on IOS 7 devices. It does not yet allow two-way sharing of streams. The photos that others add to your shared photo streams are not visible in iPhoto '11. You will have to wait for an iPhoto '11 update, that will bring the full compatibility with the new Photo Steam formats and probably will come with the next MacOS X release Mavericks.

  • Shared Photo Streams Not Updating?

About a week ago I realized my shared photo streams were not updating. I am not recieving any new photos that my friends are posting, and when I upload new photos they don't go to any of my friends' devices. How can I fix this problem?
    Thanks!

I have had the same problem - Shared Photo Streams (evidently) do not update dynamically. There is also no button to force an update in the photo app either.
On your iDevice by going into Settings > Photos & Camera and switching off "Shared Photo Streams".  Go into your Photo app and check that they have been removed.
Now go back into the same Settings sub-menu and re-enable "Shared Photo Streams".  Back in the Photo app, you will see the shared stream update with the correct photos.
I have the exact same problem with any shared photo streams I create on my iPhone - they do not appear on my iPad unless I do the above.  The same goes for iPhoto/Aperture on my Mac.

  • ICloud iPhoto journals vs Shared Photo stream

In iPhoto (for iOs Only) you can create photo journals and publish them on iCloud. This is very similar to shared photo streams. However Journals give you quite a few layout options which lack for photo stream. On the other hand shared photo stream are available also on iPhoto and Aperture for OsX. Am I missing something or these two feature should be merged ?

No but there is an edit button which you select and then tap multiple photos.

I downloaded Apple TV 5.1 last night to try using shared photo streams.  The update processed fine. When I went to photo stream it won't connect, I just get a message that the server is unavailable.  I haven't tried anything else on the Apple TV after the update so this may be a bigger i

    Hello all,
It appears that this issue is related to specific network/Internet configurations. If you are experiencing this issue (some features work over WiFi but not Ethernet) after updating to Apple TV version 5.1, please send me <[email protected]> an email with this information:
    1. What is the manufacturer, model number and firmware version (if possible) of your Ethernet router?
    2. What is the manufacturer, model number and firmware version (if possible) of your WiFi router? (if it is different)
    3. What is your Internet service provider?
    4. Where are you located geographically? (what city?)
    5. What Internet features do work over Ethernet?
    6. What Internet features do not work over Ethernet?
    7. Does it read "Activation Failed" at the bottom right in Settings > General > About?

  • Trouble creating shared photo streams

A few days ago I created four separate shared photo streams using various events in iphoto. I shared all four with my husband and everything worked great.
Since then I have tried multiple times to create additional shared photo streams to share with him and none of them work. I hilite all the photos and select Share and it creates the shared photo stream but no photos are ever inside.
Why can't I get this feature to work anymore?
The existing four photo streams still work perfectly and all the photos are intact.
Any help you could offer would be appreciated.
    Thank you!!

I am using the most recent version of iphoto 9.5.1.
The problem with getting shared photo streams to populate seems to be a bit random. I was able to create a couple more shared photo streams today, but it doesn't work everytime.
Nothing seems to be wrong with any of the photos I am using. They are viewable in full size and don't seem to be any different than any other photos.
There are certain events I am having trouble with. Each time I try to create a shared photo stream with them, either they don't populate at all, or they only load a portion of the photos and videos before stopping.
In the last case, it stopped after 390 photos out of approx. 600 photos, according to the icloud shared photo stream on the Mac, although my iphone has maybe 20 more in the shared photo stream than the Mac says there are.
None of this seems to make any sense.
    Thanks,
    Lorraine

  • Photo stream is showing up in iphoto recent but not web and I am not able to join the shared photo stream.  all of my software is updated.  can someone tell me how to get photo stream in the web source list? thanks!

Can someone help me get Photo Stream to appear under Web in the iPhoto Source List? I have updated all my software.  iPhoto 11, Mac OS X 10.7.5  All of my preferences are checked.  I am able to see the shared Photo Stream on my iPad, but not my Mac.  The Mac iPhoto photos from the shared photo stream are appearing in the Photo Stream (under Recent), but I thought they would appear as a shared Photo Stream in its own file/album (like on the iPad and iPhone)  - labeled with the shared Photo Stream's title.  Is this supposed to happen on the Mac?  Thanks!

So you are saying for it to do what i want: shared photo stream to appear in web then i need to upgrade.
    Yes
Does that mean i purchase the new software an it's not just an update?
    Yes
Your profile indicates your running 10.7.5.  For shared Photo Streams you need to be running 10.8.2 or later: The following is from  iCloud: Photo Stream FAQ
What do I need to use Photo Stream?
To use Photo Stream, including Shared Photo Streams, you need an iCloud account, compatible devices, and up-to-date software:  iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 6.0 or later Mac with OS X Mountain Lion v10.8.2 or later and iPhoto 9.4 or Aperture 3.4 or later
So you'll need to upgrade to Mt. Lion.
iPhoto requirements are free updates for iPhoto '11
