Shared Photostream - contacts greyed-out

I want to create a shared photstream with one of my contacts.
Her contact is greyed-out so cannot be selected.
She is running IOS6 on Iphone3GS and has Icloud activated.
Why can't her contact be selected?
I am running IOS6 on 4S with Icloud active

Hi,
I had the same problem. It happened when my contat had no email information (the shared photo stream link is send by email).

  • HELP - Guest Log In on File Sharing Suddenly Disabled (Grey Out)?

    Hello all.
This is my office MacPro, we have a pool of Macs running graphics and also Avid software. We file share with local network through Apple File Sharing.
By default we would be able to turn on our own Mac's file sharing, and other user would log in to our Public folder > Drop Box ... etc
In Leopard, we are able to designate other folder for file share, which I have done. I disabled my default Public folder for file sharing. And created a folder outside my User folder for file sharing, so that others log into my mac as guest user can access it too.
Actually everything is just fine, other mac users just need to log in as Guest to access my share folder.
But this morning, all of a sudden, without any tweaks or anything, other mac users cannot log in as Guest, the Guest option is grey out.
I have tried disabling file share, enable, re-create a new folder to share or re-enable the default Public folder to share, but the Guest option is still grey out.
    What could have happen?
Need to solve this as soon as I can, thanks and cheers

Thanks - the weekend was very pleasant indeed!
I agree that something seems to awry in the Leopard MBP. The question is "what". The symptoms now are:
    1) iTunes music sharing from MBP is broken
    2) Connecting to Panther Mac via AFP is broken (although one Mac can be connected via IP address)
    3) Machine works well on a Windows network
Based on all of this, I would guess that there is a problem in the "Bonjour" networking of the MBP. You could try:
    1. Using a different account to see if it is local to your user id.
    2. Failing that, removing your com.apple.AppleFileServer.plist and com.apple.AppleShareClient.plist files from /Library/Preferences
Outside of that, I would have to do some more digging.

  • Why is my photostream menu greyed out

I just installed iphoto 11 9.4.3  version to use the share (with others) function, which I never used before.
When in iPhoto, the SHARE - > PhotoStream menu is greyed out.
    Why ?

    Larry,
that is weird! Even with PhotoStream disabled in the "System Preferences > iCloud" and in "iPhoto Preferences > Photo Stream" iPhoto will show the PhotoStream in the "Share" menu.
The only way I can get iPhoto to dim the PhotoStream "Share" option in the menu is by selecting an item in the Source list that is empty. Do you see something different?
That is why I suggested to check the selected library item. See: Photostream disabled everywhere, but the "Share" menu does show it.
    Cheers

  • Shared folder consistently greyed out in Finder...

I manage a small Mac network for the communications dept of a university.  I have several different shared folders set up for different programs/student groups.  Anyway, the largest folder (generic Production folder used by the majority of students) shows up greyed out at first when looking for it inside of programs (for example, in Final Cut when looking for a scratch disk or save location).  Clicking on another share point or computer and then going back to the folder usually works, although sometimes it takes a minute or so of doing this.
While this isn't really anything more than an annoyance, I would like to know what is causing this behavior and what can be done to prevent it.  It seems to only happen with this folder, although I have noticed the homes folder to be greyed out once or twice also.  It doesn't happen every time.  Is it simply because there is so much data in the folder that it takes a minute for that folder to be read/mounted/whatever for that program (there are LOTS of subfolders and files in that share, as well as the homes folder incidentally), or is there something more going on here?
Running an XServe, managing all iMacs.  All systems are 10.6.7, although I've noticed this behavior for as long as I can remember (10.6.5, at least).

The whole thing happened very quickly.  It's amazing to me that with all the time spent beta testing this thing that this little glitch was discovered almost instantly by the public.  I think it is very difficult to be a software developer these days.
Anyway, I'm glad you got things sorted out.

  • Screen sharing greyed out - Airport Extreme

    Hello all:
I'm trying to use screen sharing with another mac but my screen sharing option is greyed out. The setup is as follows:
    - Computer 1 is a Quad Mac Pro, connected to an Airport Extreme (wireless).
    - Computer 2 is a MacBook Pro (older one, but still plenty fast).
    - Both computers are running iChat 4.0.7 and OSX 10.5.7
I can ask to share Computer 2's screen and am able to view/control their screen without a problem. The problem is I'm unable to share my screen at all (greyed out). I have scoured the web and this forum to see if I can find a solution, but so far no luck.
Here's what I've done so far:
    1. Set Quicktime Streaming to 1.5Mbps on BOTH computers. Restarted iChat.
    2. Connection Doctor/Capabilities shows green checks all the way down.
    3. System Prefs/Security/Firewall: this is set to "access for specific services". In the list, File Sharing and Screen Sharing are both at top. I have also added the iChat application to the list just in case.
    4. System Prefs/Sharing - File Sharing and Screen Sharing are both on.
    5. iChat App: Screen Sharing is enabled here as well.
    6. Both computers are using .MAC (or ME) accounts.
    7. Have checked bandwith and both connections are plenty fast (20 down/8 up)
    8. Airport Extreme on my end set to WPA2 Personal (could this be causing problems)?
I'm at my wit's end, not sure how to proceed. Anyone find a way to fix this? Again, i can screenshare Computer 2 just fine. It's Computer 1 (the faster of the two) that refuses to work.
    Thanks for your help!

    Hi,
From your end you can Offer to Share and Ask to Share (2 options)
The same is true of the Buddy (2 more options)
You only speak of this from one end.
Having said that In the Airport Base Station (Airport Utility) go to the Internet Icon pane and then the the NAT tab and set Port Mapping Protocol to be Enabled (there is no need to set ports)

  • Screen sharing greyed out

My friend and I both have Messages beta and FaceTime on our Macs and we are unable to share screens. The screen sharing option is greyed out. What are we doing wrong?

    HI,
Screen Sharing in System Preferences uses ths same "engine" but does not need to be turned On for iChat (Or Messages) Screen Sharing to work.
Both parties have to be on the same network.
This could be AIM as both AIM Names and Apple IDs ending in @mac.com and @me.com login into this service. (These types of APple IDs are also valid AIM Screen Names -see notes)
    NOTES
Apple IDs issued from iCloud (@me.com) can only be used in iChat 6 or Messages Beta (In Lion basically)
Also these Apple IDs must have passwords that will work with the AIM servers (No more than 16 characters)
    Edit
    Thanks for the Points

  • How to reorder a shared photostream?

I made an Aperture project and shared it via an iCloud photostream. Then I decided to edit the original of one of the pictures, and at the bottom of the window Aperture gratifyingly claimed to be updating my shared photostream. Only thing is, it didn't. So I deleted the photo from the shared stream and reimported the edited version. Now  in the shared photostream it is out of order (has come in at the end) and I can find no way to edit the order of the photos on the shared stream in order to put the order back as it was.

You cannot reorder the photos in the stream. They will always show in the order they have been added to the stream.
You can only copy the photos out of the stream to an event, delete the photos from the stream, then add them again in the sequence you want. I would not do that, however, if I am sharing the stream with other parties, because it will create a lot of network traffic, and your friends may not want to have to download all photos again.

  • Unable to share slideshows in iPhoto, share option all greyed out except for email and iCloud

    iPhoto version 9.6
    OS X Yosemite 10.10.1
Completed a slideshow share 11/28 via iPhoto to Facebook
Created a new slideshow to upload to fb msg users however all fields in Share were greyed out except for email.
While working with Apple support and waiting on them I went into iCloud preferences and unchecked a share with selected users and found then that under share iCloud now appears along with email however all other options for sharing are still greyed out.
Please help as support is saying that is the way iPhoto now works
    Thank You, Theresa

Export the slideshow and that makes a movie of it.
    Upload that to Facebook.

  • Calendar and contact options are greyed out

    Hi all,
I wand to sync my contacts and calendar between my iPad1 and my Windows Laptop.
After installing the icloud sync software, I was only able to check "favourites and photostream" to be synced. The fields mail, calendar and contacts are greyed out and not available to select.
I have browsed through the Internet, de-installed that software piece and installed it again, not change.
Passwaords have been corrected according to the iTune needs (8characters, and so on).
I do not know what to do, any ideas?
    Thanks

When you say you are trying to get a file from your local c:drive, dio you mean that you are trying to import a file into your site from elsewhere on your computer, rather than 'getting' it from your remote server.  If you are trying to import a file from your local c:drive don't use the 'get' or 'put' buttons because they are just for remote connections, instead just use windows explorer to locate the file then either copy or cut and paste the file into the folder for your site.

  • IMessages screen sharing greyed out

    I have a problem here, and I don't know what's wrong:
I'm on face time chatting with me, and she wants to screen share with me. I enable all options here: audio chat, video chat, and screen sharing.
Then I want to share my screen with her: I click buddies, but share screen with [person] is greyed out. I asked her via facetime to see if screen sharing and audio chat and video chat are enabled, and she said yes. Both she and I are on lion, and using Messages Beta. How can I get these menu options to no be greyed out?

    Hi,
FaceTime can be invoked (Started) from the Mesages Beta if you have been iMessaging someone.
(You could also chose to Video them straightaway without texting first but the Name from the Contacts List in the "To" spot will still be based on iMessages and the Video icon will launch FaceTime.
FaceTime does not do Screen Sharing.
The Screen Sharing option (As well as the Audio Only chats and Video Chats set in the same menu) refer to the old "iChat Style" Buddy Lists and the options to connect from those.
For these you and your Buddy need the Type of Screen Name or ID to "match" in the broadest sense.
Either you both have something valid with AIM (AIM or @Mac.com and @me.com ending names from Apple IDs) or something that can be used with a Jabber login (Facebook, Google or other Jabber ID).
As long as you both use iChat or Message beta then you can Video Chat. Audio Only chat and Screen Share  (AIM to AIM or Jabber to Jabber)

  • CUPC 8.6 Contact Call Greyed Out Issue

    Hi All
I'm having an issue with contacts in CUPC, I have CUCM 8.6.2a SU2 and CUP 8.6.4 in HA mode configured as Active/ Standby and I am using the CUPC client 8.6.1, the issue I have is that when I add a contact to the client, it works fine for Presence and I can call the click on the client and the call option is available, however as soon as I log out of CUPC and log back in again, the Call option is greyed out, if I remove the contact and then re add the contact then Call is available again.
All IM and Presence is working fine, its just the Call option that is an issue.
Anyone come across this before or can advise?
    Regards
    Nick

    Hi
OK - so it should all fall into place when you get the AD connected.
One note - if you have contacts in your list, that are people in the AD, you'll probably need to delete them and then re-add once it's running to get proper information/status etc... so don't get too carried away preconfiguring users etc.!
    Regards

  • HT4527 I'm transferring my iTunes library from a PC to my new iMac via home sharing.  I've followed all of the steps to "import" my library but the "import" button is greyed out.  Any suggestions?

I'm transferring my iTunes library from a PC to my new iMac via home sharing.  I've followed all of the steps to "import" my library but the "import" button is greyed out.  Any suggestions?

There is no need to import anything or use Home Sharing.
Copy the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the old computer to the new computer, everything will be exactly as it was.

  • Message recall from shared mailbox greyed out Outlook 2010

    Hello,
Can anyone advise if it's possible to recall a message sent from a shared mailbox? The user has full access permissions to the shared mailbox but the 'recall this message' option is greyed out.
We have installed the hotfix below but it says the update is already installed on the system?
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2475877/en-gb
    This is using Windows 8, Outlook 2010 32bit and Exchange 2007 SP3.

    Hi,
Try to remove and grant the user the permission to the shared mailbox again to see if the issue still exists.
This issue should have been fixed by kb2475877, please also make sure Office is patched up to date.
We can try with a new profile to setup the account, check if the issue persists:
