Shared Photostream photo size

Hi gang,
When I share photos using Photostream, the shared photos that the invited guests see are much smaller than the original. For example, a 7 MB pic becomes less than 1 MB.  Is there something I am doing wrong?  How do I share the photos using Photostream so that other people can download the original file?
Cheers!

What resolution are My Photo Stream photos?
On your Mac or PC, your photos are downloaded and stored in full resolution. On your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Apple TV, your Photo Stream photos are delivered in a device-optimized resolution that speeds downloads and saves storage space. While actual dimensions will vary, an optimized version of a photo taken by a standard point-and-shoot camera will have a 2048 x 1536 pixel resolution when pushed to your devices. Panoramic photos can be up to 50 pixels wide.

  • I have Windows7.  HOw can I download shared photostream photos from others' shared photostream

I use Windows7.  How can I download shared photostream photos from others' shared photosteam photos using ICloud?

How are you doing the downloading?
If you download raw files with iPhoto, iPhoto can only edit the JPEG preview that is embedded with each raw file. iPhoto is not a true raw editor, because it's a consumer-level product, not professional-level.
The files should remain in RAW format if you download any of these ways, by using:
Apple Image Capture (in your Utilities folder)
Canon Digital Photo Professional (comes with your camera, but since the 40D is so old, go to the Canon site and upgrade your copy to the latest version for compatibility with the latest Mac OS X)
    Apple Aperture
    Adobe Lightroom
Any other professional raw organizer/editor like Capture One

  • Shared Photostream: Photo Order for Public Web site

    I create a Shared Photostream.
I add pictures to the Photostream.
The people getting the stream who are on iOS devices see the photos in the order they were added to the stream.
    First In, First Out.
However, when I create the Public Website it appears that the photos are in the reverse order.
The last ones added to the stream are the first one seen.
Is the photo order just a coincidence? Or should there be a pattern to it? Consistent with the Website?
    Thanks!

  • Iphoto 9.6 shared photostream photos are in trash

I just updated to iPhoto 9.6 after installing Yosemite. When I clicked on the iCloud tab it asked me to activate iCloud photos. I said yes, and the shared albums I have on my phone and iPad show up as expected. The problem is that the photos themselves do not show up. I noticed there is a folder in my desktop trash (not the separate trash file in iPhoto) named iPhoto. In that folder is all the photos from the shared photo streams. I have no idea how they wound up there. The photos appear in the proper albums on my iOS devices. Anyone else having this problem?

I have the same problem, with a slightly different preceding step.  After upgrading to Yosemite & installing iPhoto 9.6, I opened iPhoto and everything seemed to be as it should be.  I then imported some photos.  All was still ok.  I tried to add some photos from that new import to an existing shared photo stream, and they wouldn't upload.  No new photos appeared in the photostream.  I then opened iPhoto preferences, and iCloud Shared Photostreams was turned off - note that it had always been on previously.  I reenabled it, and after spinning for a very long time, my newly selected photos for uploading were added to the photostream, but ALL of the other photos from that photostream and every other shared photostream were moved to Trash - not iPhoto trash but directly to desktop trash.  I was smart enough to pull them out of trash and set them aside so I don't lose them permanently, but this looks like a major defect in iPhoto 9.6.  Shared photo streams are NOT preserved properly across the upgrade.
Note that the existing shared photostreams appear to never re-sync after this, so there appears to be 0 photos in them until new ones are added.

  • HT201077 As of recently any photos I add to a shared photostream will not update for others. Only I can see them. How come others sharing this photo stream are not getting the new photos?

As of recently any photos I add to a shared photostream will not update for others and I don't see the updated photos on my other devices. Only I can see them from the device that i've posted from. How come others sharing this photostream are no longer getting the new photos? My iphone (the device i'm adding from) shows 20 pictures in this shared photostream and yet 4 other people that I share this photostream album with and my ipad only show 12 photos. For the past week I keep adding photos thinking people will see them but it just won't update the new ones. Any ideas how to fix this?

You can stop new photos being automatically added to Photostream in iPhoto from iPhoto preferences > Photostream.

  • How do I save photo's from a shared photostream that I have subscribed to, to my PC?

I was invited to subscribe to a shared photostream, I can now access these pictures on my iPhone. I want to save all of these pictures on my PC, is there an easy way of doing this?
I expected to see these pictures in my 'Photo Stream' folder on my PC under the 'Shared' folder.
There are about 900 pictures, will it take some time for these to appear?
    Any pointers/help would be appreciated,
    Thanks.

Hey there, i made this mistake also what your doing is looking in the Photostream Viewer found in (Other Drives) section of Computer. If you look in the Photostream folder (Mine is located in the Pictures Library) you will find a folder labeled shared.
Photostream folder location is set in the iCloud Settings under Control Panel. Photostream options button.
    Hope this helps.

  • Duplicates in Shared Photostream in iOS Photos, Mac OS X iPhoto, AppleTV, but not iCloud Web

Just started using the shared Photostream feature today, and we noticed that the first shared Photostream we tried duplicated all the photos that were shared if viewed from iPhoto or AppleTV. The web site for the shared Photostream does have exactly the right pictures with no duplicates.
All versions of the software mentioned are the latest.
Background: I did have to turn on Photostream for iPhoto for the user, and the user had never used iPhoto Photostream before. We might have tried sharing once, then cancelled to get a better list of email addresses before sending out the invitation, but we didn't hit OK, only Cancel.

You know you're not talking to Apple here, right? Only other users, just like you.
iPhoto menu -> Provide iPhoto Feedback is the route to Apple.

  • Shared photostream - sort photos by date?

I've created a shared photostream for sharing travel photos. I've uploaded the photos as I've edited them. Now I find that the photos are not in chronological order in the photostream and have lost all their place/date&time photo information.
And I can't resort in chronological order.
    Now what? It's a mess.

Have you selected the event and used the autosplit event command?

  • Max number of photos in "shared photostream"?

What is the maximum number of photos that can be shared in the new "shared photostream" in iOS 6?

I just came again across the Photo Stream FAQ: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4486
How many photos can be stored in Shared Photo Streams on my devices and computers?
Unlike My Photo Stream, shared photo streams are not rolling collections. Any new photos that you add to a shared photo stream do not replace your older photos. A shared photo stream can hold a maximum of 1,000 photos. When you reach your limit, you must delete some photos before adding new ones.
I wonder if the pictures in the Shared Photo Stream count against your "regular" Photo Stream?
Does Photo Stream use my iCloud storage?
No. Photos uploaded to My Photo Stream or Shared Photo Streams do not count against your iCloud storage.
It really would help if the information about "Shared Photo Streams" were to be found in the "Shared PhotoStream" documents and not only in the gereral "My Photo Stream" articles.

  • Since updating to iOS7 I cannot upload my photos to a shared photostream

working with Mountain Lion and iPhoto: after updating my iPhone to iOS7 suddenly the upload of photos to shared photostreams does not work any longer. I tried all the ways through iPhone, iPad and MBP, but alas to no result: cannot upload photos any longer. Anyone has any suggestions how to solve this?

  • Copying photos from Shared Photostream onto my PC

    Hiya,
How do I copy a photo from a shared photostream to which I am subscribed onto my PC?  Dragging and dropping doesn't work.. and neither does using the contextual menu.  My PC is running Windows 7x64.
    Thanks!

I have the same problem.  My wife sent me a shared photostream from her iPhone 5 to my PC using iCloud Control Panel so I can have access to her pictures.  All the pictures are there in the photostream on my PC, but I can't copy them - no drag & drop, no CTRL+C, no right click.  The only way I've been able to get them so far is to have her share them with a webpage on icloud.com.  If I open the webpage, I can copy the images off the site.
Crappy way of doing it, but so far that's all I've got.  Anyone have a better solution?
    Thanks.

  • HT201317 My shared photostream keeps deleting all the photos and shows empty. Any ideas why ?

I've shared a photo folder on my Ipad which I use to send or share photos with other family members on a different apple account. Twice in the last week it has emptied the folder of its photos and left an empty folder. Can anyone offer advice on how to stop this ?

Try to follow steps in that article, usually shared photostreams do not have exparation, so it sounds like you didn't actually share one.

  • Shared photostream - only my photos show up on PC

I have a shared photostream set up with some family members. Everything works great on our Apple devices but on my PC, the shared folder only shows photos that have been shared by me. Is it possible to show all of the shared photos on my PC?

  • Shared photostream icloud usage

    Hi guys (or girls ;-)),
I love the shared photostream, now I can create an album and put some photo's in it and it automatically shows those albums on all my devices without the need to sync them through itunes. Besides that, I can also easily share them with anyone I like. Finally this gets close to the old Mobile Me gallery.
However. I am wondering what the shared photostream does do to my icloud storage? Does each photo take up space or is it free just like the 'normal' photostream? And if it does not take up space does it them mean that all photos together can still be no more then 1000 and will it then remove those photos from my albums when I exceed this amount?
I wasn't able to find any information about this?
    Kind Regards,
    Nico...

This is not true, photos in a SHARED photostream will not be deleted. Per apple:
"Photos in shared photo streams are not deleted after thirty (30) days, but the size of any given photo stream may be subject to photo or recipient number, and/or size limitations. Downloaded photos can be manually saved to the iOS Camera Roll."

  • IPhone 5S shared photostream green border

I have an iPhone 5S, running iOS 7.0.2. When I add a picture to a shared photostream through the photos app, from the camera roll, it sometimes makes the image one pixel wider and taller, and adds a green line to the bottom and right side.
The same picture at higher rez in the rolling one-thousand "My Photo Stream" does not get resized with the green line.
The screenshot below shows this in action, taken on iPhoto (on OS X desktop), the first photo was added to the shared stream from the camera roll, the second was added from "My Photo Stream".
The images are similar in memory size, but the dimensions of the left one are 2049 × 1537, while the right is 2048 × 1536. (the green line remains when viewed full size, or in Preview from the finder)
This issue does not affect portrait or panorama pictures, only landscape orientation.
The green lines do not appear when viewing the shared stream on an iPhone, but does on iPad, iPhoto on desktop, and the iCloud website for the shared stream. Other people have also seen the lines when viewing my shared stream.
I cannot reproduce the issue on my old 4S, which is also running 7.0.2.
I can work around the issue, but it is annoying that certain methods of adding photos to a shared stream cause this bug.
Anyone else see this issue or have any ideas?
    Thanks.

i am having this same issue. apple, please research.
