Shared review attachments won't open

Hi,
My team is working with Acrobat X, Acrobat 9 and Reader X. In a shared review, none of the attachments (Excel, Word) are accessible except by the creator. We can't open or save them in any of the Acrobat versions I listed. Any clue on this?

These were added as comments and published in the shared review.
I receive no error messages because the "open" button doesn't function. I click it but nothing happens. I attached a screenshot of the attachments panel. You can see that the file extensions are Excel docs but they come up as "unknown".

  • Firefox 23, attachments won't open or download

firefox 23.0, attachments won't open or download. this includes PDFs, movie clips, perhaps others.
i tried safe mode and it works. so it suggested turning off accelerator, use default themes and disabling extensions. i tried all that and none of that worked.
    anybody have any other ideas?

    Hello,
Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
    Then perform these steps:
*Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
*In the Firefox options window click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select "General".
*In the settings list, you should find the ''Use hardware acceleration when available'' checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
*Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:
    * [[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]]
    * [[Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL]]
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!

  • Word and PDF Attachments Won't Open in Mail

I bought my iPad2 in September 2011. have upgraded it to iOS5. I cannot open any PDF, .doc or .docx document. I have tried opening the PDFs in Adobe Reader and the Word documents in Pages or Dropbox but they won't open. All my apps are up to date.
What seems to be happening is that Mail is having difficulty downloading the attachment. I had a 4MB PDF attachment and when I tapped on the icon it began to download, which took several minutes. I saw the byte size change from 0 to 4MB. Then I tapped on it again to open the file but the byte size dropped immediately to 0 again and the file won't open. I tried opening in Adobe Reader but got the error "The document is empty (size 0KB)" . I have gone through several cycles of downloading the file and seining the seesaw from 0 to 4MB and back again. Just won't open the file.
Same problem when I tried opening Word documents in Pages or Dropbox. Also, I reproduced this issue with my colleague's iPad (version 1, iOS4, Pages).
Just to ascertain there's nothing wrong with the file attachments, I downloaded the same PDF in Outlook, placed it in my Dropbox, and opened it in the iPad without any problem.
    Anyone else having this issue?

Have you tried pressing the attachment to get the "open in" message and open in VLC, iBooks, or other apps?

  • Word attachments won't open into Word application

My dad complained that his iMac G5 opens Word attachments automatically into the trial version of MS Office Word.
Eventhough he purchased a copy of Office, Mail continued to open Word attachments to the trial version. Because the trial version of Office is expired, the attachments wouldn't open unless I dragged the docs unto the desktop and changed the Info on the documents to open with the purchased version of Word.
In one attempt to resolve the problem, I trashed the trial version, Mail popped up the dialogue box that asked what application did I want to open the attachment with. I chose the purchased version of Office, but Mail won't do this automatically. It still asked to choose the application to open the document.
I went into his Documents folder and picked one Word doc to change the Info @ "Open With" and chose MS Word app and checked the box "Use this application to open all documents like this." Still didn't work. I then manually changed the Info in all of his Word docs to open into the purchased version of Word. Problem still not resolved.
Found out that his PDF docs won't open into Preview automatically too! I get the dialogue box... "Choose application to open document."
I looked through Preferences and couldn't find a solution.
I'm the family IT, and I need help.
I need Mail to open attachments automatically into their correct applications.
    Thanks, Joe

Per this link, you must uninstall the Office 2004 trial or Test Drive version before installing the full purchased version.

Since you have already uninstalled the Test Drive version, I suggest uninstalling the full purchased version and then re-install it.

  • Attachments won't open in "Mail" on iPhone

I can't open the attachments that I receive in an email in "mail" on my iPhone, I used to be able to do it but can't anymore, I know I haven't changed any settings.
    Can anyone please help?
    Thank you!!!
    Bruce

I'm not running it on Exchange, just regular email. The same will happen, I can see the attachment but when I tap it, nothing happens, it just won't open. I have also tried all types (word, excel, pdf, etc).
At the Apple Store they told me to do a "hard reset" (Press the Home Button and the top button and hold until it restarts) but it's still not working.
If anyone has an idea, please help.
    Thank you!

  • Attachments won't open when on Wifi

    Hello,
Many times i get the question why attachments in Outlook won't open when they are working at home (connected with WiFi).
When they open an .xls, Excel will start and will be starting op for about 1 minute and then comes back with a grey screen.
When they are at work (logged in on the domain) everythings works well.
    Does anyone have a suggestion?
    Thanks in Advance!

    Hi,
Did they use the same computer when they work at home and at work?
And how about to save the attachment first then open the file.

  • Pdf email attachments won't open

After upgrading to IOS 7 the pdf email attachments are not opening...just says "loading" and never loads.

    Hi DVFFTI,
I'm not sure from your description if you're having the same problem I was having.
In my case, PDF attachments would only display as a single image of the first page of the PDF.
The only option I had was to Copy or Save the image. I couldn't open a preview of the full PDF in Mail or tap to 'Open in...' a different app.
Turns out that I had too many apps on my iPhone that can read PDFs, for example, Dropbox, Evernote, iBooks, Kindle, etc. even a Canon app for remote printing.
Removing one of them fixed the issue for me.
I remember this happening before and seeing other threads about this, so I don't think it's specific to iOS 7.
Give it a go and see if it fixes your problem. Hope it helps.

  • Why can't we simply have an option to enable/disable Javascript on sites again in the settings for Firefox 27? Suddenly my Gmail attachments won't open. Gmail.

Suddenly my Gmail attachments have stopped opening, and I receive the message: JavaScript must be enabled in order for you to use Gmail in standard view. However, it seems JavaScript is either disabled or not supported by your browser. To use standard view, enable JavaScript by changing your browser options, then try again.
I found a Mozilla support thread where it was explained that Javascript has been turned off for a while in FF. OK. Then there was a complicated answer about how you could still turn it back on by typing in a config code into the address bar. What? Or, you could download an extension to do that for you. Why?
Please-- if you really feel like users can't be trusted, and Javascript must be turned off, at least bring back the ability to enable/disable Javascript on a per site basis in options, without having to know code. It's Gmail.
    Thank you.

There is nothing on that thread that says Javascript is turned off by default. to quote:
"In Firefox 23, as part of an effort to simplify the Firefox options set and protect users from unintentially damaging their Firefox, the option to disable JavaScript was removed from the Firefox Options window.
However, the option to disable JavaScript was not removed from Firefox entirely. You can still access it from about:config or by installing an add-on. "
The UI checkbox to disable Javascript was removed, but the option still exists in about:config (which isn't code btw, it's just preferences), nor was Javascript turned off by default, in fact the opposite is true, it is enabled by default with the option to disable it made a little more difficult to find, as only advanced users need to disable Javascript.
Please try to clear the cache and cookies for gmail, let's see if those are causing problems. [[Delete cookies to remove the information websites have stored on your computer]], [[How to clear the Firefox cache]]

  • Ex2010 shared mailbox folder won't open in OWA2013

    Hi,
    I've got simple lab environment:
    2x Widnows 2008R2 + Exchange 2010sp3
    Widnows 2008R2 + Exchange 2013cu3
    1 x test mailbox13 on 2013
    1 x test mailbox10 on 2010
I added full access permission on mailbox10 to mailbo13 and want to open it with OWA.
I can do that by "open another mailbox..." option in another browser window but
when I want to "add shared folder..." to folder structure on the left panel:
In Outlook 2010 everything is ok and I can view two mailbox trees on the left.
    CalendarFolderConfiguration looks fine and clean.
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
Firstly, I’d like to explain, OWA 2013 can open all folders while OWA 2010 can open only inbox and calendar.
Open another mailbox makes all folders open in another window. Add shared folder make two mailbox open in the same tab.
And I have a test on my lab: if I add shared folder with an account which I haven’t granted full access permission to , the same error message appears. if the permission is well, I don’t get any error message.
According to your description, Outlook works well. Maybe the issue is related to OWA configuration. Thus,we can use MFCMAPI to remove the IPM.Configuration.Owa.OtherMailbox message hidden in the mailbox and then try again.
Additionally, we can also check if there is any error in the event log to narrow down the cause and try to re-add the full access permission.

  • Pdf attachments won't open in Adobe Reader 9

After installing Adobe Reader 9, I can no longer open pdf files that come as email attachments. Even attachments I opened two weeks ago no longer open. Error message is from Microsoft Outlook and reads "Application not found." I've found Adobe Reader in my "All Programs" list. After opening the email, I right-click the attachment and save it as a file. Then, I can open Adobe Reader and browse to that file and open it successfully. But NOT by double-clicking the attachment in the email. Any ideas? Thanks!
P.S. I posted this message in the "Adobe Reader 9 Won't Download" then realized it was off topic, so I started another topic. Mea culpa!

I encountered the same problem and tried doing what Suzanne did by right clicking the file and saving it to the computer first and then opening it.
And then after double clicking the saved file windows prompted whether I want to open it with the newly installed Adobe reader 9.0 or with Microsoft Word. I chose the Adobe Reader 9.0 and clicked on the check box asking whether we always want to open this type of file using this program.
I managed to open the file and best of all is after that I was able to directly double click on the pdf email attachments to open it.
Seems like that we need to let windows associate the file type with the program first.

  • MS Office attachments won't open from external sources in Office 2013

I have a client who is having an issue with MS Office attachments (.docx, .xlsx, .pptx) not opening.  The error message is "[Office program] experienced an error trying to open the file".  This is Office Pro Plus 2013 (no SP) on Win 7
SP1 x64. There are users on same OS with Office 2007 SP3 that are able to open attachments without issue.
I've tracked the issue down to Protected View.  I've also found the acceptable answer for just about everyone that's asked is to uncheck or remove the Group Policy for "Enable Protected View for files originating from the Internet" and/or
"Enable Protected View for Outlook attachments".
Unfortunatey, due to the environment that it's in, I am unable to make that change.  Does anyone know of an actual fix or workaround separate to this?
    Thanks,
    Kiel

    Hi Kiel,
Probably, you can find the location of those files, then add it to the
Trusted Locations of any Office applications:
    FILE>Options>Trust Center>Trust Center Settings...>Trusted Locations>Add new location... button
(usually, the error message dialog contains the source location of those files.)

It's recommended to download and install
Configuration Analyzer Tool (OffCAT), which is developed by Microsoft Support teams. Once the tool is installed, you can run it at any time to scan for hundreds of known issues in Office
