Shared Review from Acrobat 8 Pro

Is it possible to initiate a shared review from Acrobat 8 Pro
using Acrobat.com? I realize how easy it is from Acrobat 9, but I'm
trying to help someone currently using 8, where the only options
are internal server, WebDAV or iDisk.

Thank you for your post. These forums are specific to the
Acrobat.com website and its set of hosted services, and do not
cover the Acrobat family of desktop products. Please visit the
following forums for any questions related to the Acrobat family of
desktop products:

Note: The option to host a shared review on Acrobat.com was
only added with Acrobat 9.0. Versions prior to 9.0 cannot use
Acrobat.com as a shared review repository. To access this
functionality the user must upgrade to 9.0.

  • API for Shared Review in Acrobat SDK

    Hi,
I would like to implement the functionality for Shared Review programmatically.
Right now we need to open each pdf file select Comments -> Send for Shared Review in Acrobat Professional and follow the steps in wizard.
I am looking at achieving the above steps programmatically so that I need not open each pdf individually and run through the wizard. For this, is there any API available either in Acrobat 8.1 or 9.0 SDK which I can make use of and build an automatic service.
    A swift response is appreciated.
    Thanks & regards,
    Rajeev

is there (today - 2011) really still no API for that?
    Also not in LiveCycle Server?
    Thanks,

does anybody have the same issue?

Have you tried going back to the default print settings in the Print dialog under the Advanced button and select Acrobat Default under the Settings dropdown?

  • Can't Duplex print from Acrobat Pro 9.3.2 to Epson Artisan 800

I can not duplex Print from Acrobat Pro 9.3.2 to an Epson Artisan 800.
I an running it from a MacBook Pro with OSX 10.6.3
I called Epson support and they could not help me.
However they suggested that I try using Adobe Reader.
Well that works OK if I choose to print the document as an image, but I would prefer to just be able to work within Acrobat Pro.
Does anyone outthere have any settings within Acrobat Pro that would enable duplex printing?
    Thanks

  • HUGE BUG printing Booklet from Acrobat Pro 11.0.10

I spent an hour chatting with Adobe support in India. They could not solve this issue.
I submitted a BUG REPORT at Adobe - Feature Request/Bug Report Form
    Here is the BUG Report:
    ******BUG******
    Concise problem statement:
    Steps to reproduce bug:
    1. Export individual pages from InDesign as pdf (16-page booklet, each individual page is 5-1/2" x 8-1/2")
    2. Open pdf in Acrobat Pro 11.0.10
    3. Choose actual size, then choose booklet, and print. (printer contains letter-size paper, and page set-up is set to 100% scale.)
Results: The printed booklet is the WRONG SIZE! The pagination is correct as usual, but each individual page is being REDUCED, and now each page image is too small, and there is now a GAP between pages, and the entire booklet is useless. If you can, please see case number: 0186447426: support chat: it covers everything we have tried so far ... (We tried everything they could think of, but all attempts failed.) This bug was introduced somewhere along the line with Yosemite.
Expected results: As usual, when printing booklets from Acrobat Pro, we expect the print to be the right size, the same size as the InDesign doc, and as it has been printed previously by Acrobat Pro prior to Yosemite. Thanks for fixing this disaster of a bug. Please contact me if you need further info, copies of the individual page pdf, etc.
I am literally stuck. I can go through the laborious process of using InDesign to "print booklet" to a postscript file and use Distiller to make the booklet pdf, but under Yosemite, I am prevented from installing print drivers unless that printer is locally available on my network. Unfortunately, the printer is located at my client's place of business.
I realize there is typically a leap-frog effect between operating system updates, hardware, and application updates, but combined with other Yosemite issues, this Acrobat Pro bug is killing my business.

DrStrik9 (sounds a bit poisonous to me!),
The issue, regrettably, is that Acrobat is performing as designed. And it has nothing to do with either MacOS 10.10 or anything new or different with Acrobat 11.0.10 (versus earlier versions going all the way back to the initial implementation of the booklet printing feature). And this isn't directly a printer driver issue, either! The same behaviour occurs both on MacOS and Windows.
The problem, simply stated, is that the Booklet print option in Acrobat (and Reader) is attempting to avoid loss of content due to the paper's non-printable margins. The scaling factors in the Size print option are not utilized at all in the Booklet print option. The Booklet print option attempts to fit two logical pages of your PDF file into the printable area of each physical sheet of paper. Assuming that your printer's Letter page is defined as having a printable area of 8"x10.5" due to a 0.25" non-printable area surrounding the page, then the Booklet print option will force each of the 5.5"x8.5" pages of your PDF file into a  5.17'x8" area centered on each half of the 8.5"x11" printed sheet.
There are three workarounds that I know of:
    (1)    Many high end printers have booklet printing capabilities in the printer or printer driver itself. Check the detailed driver options to see whether in fact your printer / printer driver does support a booklet printing option. If so, try that first. That would likely solve your problem.
    (2)    Assuming that this is a PostScript printer, edit the .PPD file for the printer you are using to to modify the specification of the Letter printable area. In the PPD file, you will see an entry similar to this:
        *ImageableArea Letter/Letter: "18 18 594 774"
    or
        *ImageableArea Letter/US Letter: "18 18 594 774"
Edit the entry to change only the four numbers as follows:
        *ImageableArea Letter/Letter: "0 0 612 792"
That indicates to the PostScript driver that there is no unprintable border on your pages. Then save the .PPD file. I would then suggest rebooting and then trying to print. Note that the side effect of this is that Fit and Shrink oversized pages options will not take into account the non-printable area of your printer.
Note that a similar hack can be done with Ledger (i.e. 11"x17") page descriptions in the PPD to fix a similar issue affecting printing 8.5"x11" pages to 11"x17" sheets as booklets.
    (3)    There are some very reliable third party plugins for Acrobat that provide full advanced document imposition capabilities, creating what are known as printer flats as a new PDF file from your logical pages. There are n-up, booklet, step-and-repeat, etc. options galore in such packages. Examples include Quite Imposing and PDF Snake. I have personally used Quite Imposing for nearly 15 years for this purpose and can vouch that it works beautifully. I don't have personal experience with PDF Snake, although it is less expensive.
Good luck and let us know if any of this helps you at all!

Make sure you have updated Acrobat X to the latest version 10.1.3.  They updated the PDF plug-in in 10.1.1:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/837/cpsid_83708/attachments/Acrobat_Reader_ReleaseNote_ 10.1.1.pdf#page=4

  • Printing difference from acrobat pro or acrobat reader

    Hi,

  • Document Message Bar does´t shown up in shared review using Acrobat 9 Standard

  • Shared Reviews in Acrobat 9 Never End if File Kept Open

It appears that an Acrobat Pro 9 shared review does not really end until everyone has closed the document, even if the deadline has already passed.
    Here are the details:
    1. Using Acrobat 9 Pro I created a shared review that is hosted on a local network share
    2. I select to email each participant a copy of the PDF as an attachement
    3. Each participant is using Acrobat 9 pro
    4. As the initiator I can either set a deadline or use the end review now option
    5. Participants are notified the review has ended and are told to publish their comments (in the bar on top)
    6. Participants press the publish button, their comments are published, and the Publish button greys out
    7. If the participants keep the document open, they can just make any other comment or markup and the Publish button enables again. They can publish the new comments. This will happen as long as they keep the document open - minutes or even hours after the review has ended.
    8. As the initiator, if I close the document and reopen it, I automatically see all comments, even those made after the review has ended
    9. The only way a participant is stopped from commenting is if they close the document and reopen it. At this point they can no longer publish any comments.
So it appears every participant MUST close the document in Acrobat - something that is very hard to guarentee.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

You would need to first set some javascript globals from your VBA code and then call your menu item.

  • Shared Review error w/Pro 9

Hi, we're using a PC for shared reviews on a WebDav server. Acrobat Pro 9 creates a folder on the server but the PDF does not get posted. Same result w/ network server reviews. No problems posting from a Mac using Acrobat 8 to same servers. Anyone else experiencing this?

That’s correct. Others can participate using Reader in the shared reviews.

  • Cannot see shared comments in Acrobat Pro Extended

If I use Adobe Reader 10 to look at a shared review PDF, I can see a screen asking me to CONNECT. And when the PDF is open, I can see all the comments with the "Check for new comments" button at the top left side of the PDF file.
Now they installed Acrobat Pro Extended for me the other day. When I open the same review PDF in Pro Extended, I do not see the CONNECT screen, and I do not see any comments. What's wrong with Pro Extended? Why is it not working? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Brian

Ok. Perhaps the option 'Check for updates' has been blocked by your IT department. Ask them to get the patch for you if you dont find an option.
As far as seeing the comments in the review is concerned, if it is a review file, you should be getting a yellow bar when you open it in Acrobat/Reader. If you dont see it on opening the review file, or you dont get the Connect/Welcome dialogs, probably it is no longer a shared review file. Try with some other review files and see if you can get it working.

  • .PS file generating a blank PDF after upgrade from Acrobat Pro 7 to 9

    Hi All,
I've searched for this in vain so I'm comming to you now in desperation. My boss has tasked me with tracking down this error and I have to be honest, I'm a little bit green with Acrobat Pro. So coming into the situation I know this. My department used to use a .ps file to build a publication into a PDF from other .ps files. We operate on a network share (the P: drive) on Windows XP SP3 machines with the latest updates.
In Acrobat Pro 7 we could double click the  .ps file which executed the below code through Adobe Distiller and a  finished PFD of the same file name would be output to the host  directory. But now, after upgrading to Adobe Acrobat 9, this process  only produces a PDF with all of the appropriate bookmarks and none of the content.

    An observation -
It looks like you are dealing with files that reflect someone's work with the pdfmark Reference (associated with Distiller).
As with Acrobat Security, JavaScript and the Acrobat SDK the 'how-to' from these all undergo changes with each new Acrobat release.
I suspect that the coding, while adequate for back when Acrobat 7 was new on the street, may have to be updated to comply with what the Distiller provided with Acrobat 9 supports.
Use the link for pdfmark Reference
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/acrobat/wwdistiller.html
The Acrobat Developer Center ( http://www.adobe.com/devnet/acrobat.html ) provides a hub to the myriad of "under-the-hood" aspects of Acrobat.
    Be well...

  • CMYK image in a PDF is involuntarily converted to RGB when you send from Acrobat Pro DC to Photoshop for editing

    Hi,
When I send a CMYK image from Adobe Acrobat Pro DC to Photoshop CC 2014 to be edited, it opens up as RGB in Photoshop CC 2014. If I do the same with Adobe Acrobat XI on another machine, the image opens as CMYK, as it should normally do. As we had created the print-ready PDF in the first place, we know that the image is definitely CMYK and is properly opened in Photoshop if we use Adoba Acrobat Pro XI. We of course can go back to the original document and edit the linked image and re-export a new PDF. But on many occasions we need to do last minute corrections on images by editing them externally in Photoshop.
    Best,
    Refik Telhan

It's really necessary to know by which program you had created the PDF.
Here comes a test PDF for questions like yours, created by InDesign:
    http://docs-hoffmann.de/riptest05072013.pdf
    Different images:
sRGB, pRGB=ProphotoRGB, CMYK , all with individually embedded profile,
Grayscales: without embedded profiles, because InDesign doesn't embed gray profiles,
Lab: without profile, because Lab is automatically detected and not ambiguuos.
Of course, using so many different images in one PDF is useful only for tests.
    An actual test:
Touch Up Object Grayscale and edit in Photoshop. There is no embedded profile
but the image is in PS detected as Grayscale. One has to assign a profile.
Re-imported in the doc, it is a Grayscale JPEG*, before it was a Grayscale ZIP.
In Acrobat 8 one can check the actual content of a PDF by
Advanced > Print Production > Preflight
In newer versions this is still available but somewhere else.
I'm using version 8, because I uninstalled X on purpose.

As far as I remember, there is no special code for Grayscale JPEGs, it's just a JPEG
with zeros in the Cb Cr channels ... like an R=G=B gray image.

  • Can't open a doc in the document cloud from Acrobat Pro DC????

I signed up for the document could at the same time I bought Acrobat Pro DC for mac.  I can get to the document cloud from a browser and from there open it in Acrobat Pro DC.  But ... File/Open in Acrobat Pro DC offers me the choices of opening from the computer or from the Creative cloud -- and not from the document cloud.  It does list iCloud and GoogleDrive as available drives -- so I guess I am better off using iCloud or Google Drive instead of the Adobe document cloud.  I cannot get from the Creative cloud (for which I have no account) to the document cloud.  Seems odd that this is the way Adobe engineers arranged it.

Can you please post a screenshot of the File-Open dialog that you see in Acrobat DC?
    Thanks,
    -Amboo
