Shared review not working for Acrobat Reader

I can not believe have not been able to find an anwer to this, sorry if it has been asked before.
I am trying to setup shared review with clients running Acrobat Standard XI and Acrobat Reader XI, I am currently using a Sharepoint server for the review server if it matters.
When I send a shared review from Acrobat Standard XI to a user on Acrobat Reader XI, the user is unable to make shared review comments.  The shared review will work when sent to other Standard or Pro XI users.  Any ideas?  I have been looking at this for sometime now, and know the user has full rights to the Sharepoint server.  Is there some setting I am missing in Reader?
Thank you
Update:
I may be finding my own question, but really can not verify.  Must you have Acrobat Pro for shared review to work with Reader?  (I only have standard for pc)

Priyanja, your statement is ture.  Reviews initiated with Acrobat Standard can only be participated through Acrobat Pro or Standard.  However, this is NOT by design.  It is a bug.  The Adobe website makes this very clear.  The site is:       http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/shared-pdf-document-reviews.html

  • Shared review not working for me in Adobe Pro 9

Suddenly, I'm not able to do shared reviews in Adobe Pro 9.5.5 on my Mac, OSX. I have been doing shared reviews successfully for the last several months. I deleted some preferences files recently and may have accidentally deleted an important Adobe preference file, but I'm not sure, and am not sure if this has to do with my current problem. Now I download shared review files that are emailed to me, open them in Acrobat, and nothing happens--no indication that this is a shared review file. My colleagues don't have any problems with the same files, and I am connected to the server we use. I can participate in a shared review with the same files if I open them in Adobe Reader XI.
    Any ideas? Thanks!

I've been having the exact same problem today and yesterday, and I've been doing shared reviews for years. I am definitely logged in, I've checked every setting that I can think of, rebooted my computer, logged in and out and in and out, still nothing. Adobe: Did you guys make some changes? Everyone where I work has definitely noticed the occasional Acrobat server hiccups, but this time, my problem is exactly as described above: My colleagues on the shared review are able to see the shared review, but mine just comes up as any other pdf file. Adobe: Can you shed some light onto what's going on? It's frustrating!!

  • Hyperlink that contains backslash is not working in Acrobat Reader 8 and 9

    Hi,
Does anyone know why a hyperlink that contains backslash is not working in Acrobat reader 8 and 9?
I created a document in Indesign CS and it contains hyperlinks that open up files from network drive so they contain backslash (for example: c:\foder\forder\filename.jpg). All the hyperlinks work in Acrobat Reader 6 but not in Acrobat Reader 8 or 9.
Anybody could share the solution would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

Did you ever figure this out? I am also having problems with the "No Hand" javascript which turns off the (not very helpful) page-forward hand icon (a hand symbol with a down arrow) which confuses our users when in fullscreen mode. We create interactive PDFs and everything worked fine up to Acrobat X/Reader X. Now in XI it doesn't allow the internal link icon (pointing finger) nor weblink icon (pointing finger with W) to appear. It just remains a plain o’ hand icon no matter what you mouse over even though there are links present.

  • Acrobat 9.0 shared review not working after FrameMaker 11 and RoboHelp 10 are installed

Acrobat professsional 9.0 shared review function was working fine when I was using FrameMaker 7.2, but after I install FrameMaker 11 and RoboHelp 10, nothing happens when I select "Send for Shared Review" or "Attach for Email Review", no error messages, no prompts, just nothing...btw, the system is Windows XP SP3.
Is it a compatibility issue? Does the same issue happen to you and how you fix this? Thanks for your help..

We are getting this on certain machines and not others.  I can't seem to be able to find a rhyme or reason.  We are trying to initiate reviews on a shared internal network location.
A few questions for the forum:
Does Owner rights matter on the share that the review file is to be stored in?  Currently we have Modify rights for all participants and initiators.
Does it make a difference which updates are installed past 9.0?  Does it make a difference if Pro and Reader are installed?
Can someone confirm that the Acrobat.com is required to be installed on the machine?  I noticed on the latest installs of reader acrobat.com application is not installed.
I'm posting this now because I haven't seen a clear cut answer to:
Could not save the shared review-enabled PDF file

  • MOSS 2010 Shared Review Not Connecting For All Reviewers (Acrobat 9 and X (Std and Pro) and Reader9)

I am using SharePoint 2010 for Shared Review.  Most of the testing has been successful with a few minor problems.  The biggest has been that some are not getting the connection request.  The document for review opens immediately either in the user's browser or Adobe Acrobat or Reader.  We have not been able to nail down the reason yet.  But, it has happened on systems running Acrobat 9 Pro and Acrobat X Pro.  We have had success with others using Acrobat X Pro and Reader 9.
What I am most confused on is why some of our users are not getting the request to connect to the SharePoint workspace to do their review.  If they go through Windows Explorer to where the file is located to open it directly, it asks the user to Check Out the file and then Save & Continue.  If they do this, they seem to lose the ability to publish their comments directly to the server.  They don't even get the options to check for new comments.  The file is opened and they are able to work with it like a normal file.
What could we have done wrong that caused this?  Each the users has the appropriate permissions to the SharePoint site.  I have noticed in the tracker that the two that had the issues don't have their name or title appear.  I checked both of them in the Identiy section of the Preferences and their name, title, organization and email are all missing.  Only their UserID is shown.  Could this be part of it?  We were all using the same intranet wireless system.  All users were able to open the review file.  When someone receives the link for review through the email, does the link verify through the email address listed in the prefences?

    Hello Vikas,
    To answer your questions:
    1. Do all reviewers have a local copy of the review file, or is it kept at a shared location and everyone is commenting on it.
    - I have tried it both ways with the same results. Our preference is to keep the PDF in a shared location so that all reviewers can see each others' comments. (Since the problem began, we have lost that capability, and the "semi-workaround" is to email each reviewer the PDF, each reviewer makes comments locally, and emails it back to the writer. This is less than ideal as each review cannot see each other's comments... However, I was able to publish them "on behalf".
    2. Are you only having trouble with publishing new comments or is it that you cannot see earlier added comments also.
Reviewers are unable to publish their newly-added comments as there is no Publish button/icon. If I have published another's comments on their behalf, they can see them. However, they cannot Reply - as the Reply button is disabled.
    3. Are there some specific files with which you are having trouble or is it a generic problem.
It happens with all files, so it is generic. Anyone who has Reader 9 has no Publish button when opening a shared review generated from Acrobat 8.
Thanks for any help you can provide. We are hoping the problem resolves when we upgrade to Acrobat 9 but that alas will not be until sometime in the new year, hopefully.

  • Does the Shared Review Feature Work Using Acrobat X Pro with Win7/Office 7?

I see there is a new version of Acrobat. We recently upgraded to AA9 but found it didn't support Windows 7/Office 2010. Shared review didn't work.
I checked out the specs and FAQs for AAX but am not clear if it does or does not support Shared Review running on Win7 using Office 2010. It says you can create PDFs using Office 2010 but is vague about the Shared Review feature.
We won't invest in yet another upgrade if AAX doesn't support Shared Review. Can someone let me know if it does or does not support the feature?

I downloaded the trial version of Acrobat X Pro to test the features that should now be supported with Win7-64bit, particularly the Shared Review. X still does not suppor this unless there some configuration I am totally missing.
I tested sending out a doc as an email attachment for shared review and Acrobat X still does not recognize MS-Outlook as my default mail client, thus the feature doesn't work. This is the exact same thing that happened in Acrobat 9 - I get to the step where I add email addresses for the review and - boom - Acrobat tells me there is no default email client. I double and triple checked and MS-Outlook is definitely the default mail program on my machine. So Acrobat is still not recognizing it.
So, does this feature NOT in fact work yet with Windows 7 64-bit or is there a special step I am missing?
I tried and checked the following:
    - Uninstalled Acrobat 9 and then installed the FULL trial version of Acrobat X Pro, rebooted and so on.
    - Checked that MS-Outlook is my default mail client.
    - Tried entering the email address manually into the To: field for the Shared Review and that didn't work.

  • Attach JavaScript not working in Acrobat Reader XI

    Hello,
I created a fillable PDF in which I used the following JavaScript for an "Attach" button:
    this.importDataObject("MyFile");
This JavaScript worked and allowed the end user to attach files to the PDF in previous versions of Acrobat (through version 10 / Pro), but the button's functionality does not work in Adobe Acrobat XI.  The button has no functionality when clicked, and no errors are received indicating what the issue may be.
Is there a bug that exists making this file not compatible with the Acrobat XI version, or is my coding outdated/inaccurate?
Please advise and thank you for your help!

  • Serial number of CS5.5 is not working for acrobat pro!

    Hi,
I installed the whole CS5.5 Master Collection on my MacBook Pro, typed in my serial number and everything was fine. But when I opened Acobat Pro the Application Manager asked again for the serial number. When I typed it in it was wrong. Every Adobe program is running whithout a problem, only Acrobat is not working.
    What can I do?

Did you download or install Acrobat X separately? You cannot, you must use the CS  installer.

  • Acrobat 9.0 serial not working for Acrobat XI update (Mac)

The subject line says it all. When I try to run my newly downloaded XI update, it requests a serial number for a qualifying product. I have Acrobat 9.0.0 Pro installed, and when I try to run XI, I get a window reading: "Serial Number you provided is valid, but a qualifying product could not be found on this computer."
Then I manually input the serial (correctly--I've triple checked), select Acrobat Professional 9.0 for Mac in the pull down menu and click "Next." I get an error message saying, "This serial number is not for a qualifying product. Please try another."

  • My Home sharing has not worked for over a year.

  • Music home sharing does not work for my ipad1 since my last itunes update.

This used to work, but since I updated itunes on my computer a few months ago, I cannot see the shared library on  my ipad. My ipad runs iOS5, and my computer has itunes11. I have tried all the tips in the support section. Tonight I saw the shared library under MORE while e ipad was linked to the computer via USB. As soon as I disconnected the cable, I lost the shared library.
The WiFi connection is fine, however. I am using it now to connect and ask this question.
Furthermore, why does my ipad not see my itunes music on the cloud? My work computer is logged on to my mac account and can play my music there, but my ipad cannot see the cloud or do home sharing anymore. Is this a strategy to force me to buy a newer ipad?

    Hi Wink65,
If your iPad is not able to see the Home Sharing music, I would recommend trying some steps in this article:
    Troubleshooting Home Sharing

Specifically, I'd pay special attention to steps 3 and 6, but a full run-through of the article would be the most thorough.

  • Search not working for Acrobat Macintosh forum  Adobe hates Mac?

I have tried searching this forum, only to get 0 results every time. Even such basic keywords as "pdf" results in 0 results. I've have tried seaching without singing in, with signing in, in Firefox, in Safari... nothing.
I want to make some forms in Acrobat 9, and have some questions about fine-tuning them. With the lack of a Mac-version of LiveCycle Forms I can only conclude that Adobe really really dislikes the Mac and wants to force people to move to Windows.
Why are some features left out of the Mac version? Is this Microsoft Office? Well, is it?

LiveCycle Designer was purchased from another company and it was a Windows program. Adobe doesn't see the need to port the program to the Mac. It doesn't think number of extra purchases will provide a high enough return on the investment capital to develop a Mac version, versus the number of people that will not purchase Acrobat Pro on the Mac because it doesn't have Designer. It is not a love vs hate Mac decision. It is a pure business decision. Applescript is supported on the Mac, there is no Windows or Unix equivalent. Does Adobe hate Microsoft? Does Adobe hate Unix?
