Shared Services connection via FQDN

Guys,
I've installed EPM Foundation services and faced a problem. I cannot login into Shared Services Console using FQDN (http://myhost.mydomain:28080/interop/index.hsp). Privacy policy report appears where index.jsp file is marked as blocked. But when I use localhost or myhostname without domain in URL everything works fine.
P.S. several words about environment: windows 2k3, Tomcat.
Any ideas?

issue was resolved. problem appeared because there was '_' symbol in domain name.

Hi all
Am trying to configure an SQL Server 2005 user directory in Hyperion
Shared Services and have got to the screen where I need to type in
all of the database details (i.e. Type, Name, Server, Port, etc) and
a username/password but I keep getting the message:
Connection Failed. Not enough privileges to connect to the directory
server...
I'm trying to connect to the "hypdb" database I've set up in SQL and
have tried the username "hypuser" which is set as the database owner
and another login which I've called "SysAdmin" and has system
administrator priviliges.
Have also tried the system generated used ID "sa" but again no luck.
Am I missing a setting for these logins in SQL which is stopping
Shared Services being able to log in as them?
Also, for the "Name" box on this Shared Services window do I just
come up with my own unique name for the server or does it have to be
something that has already been defined?

Hi,
The first things to know when you connect to MS SQL SERVER is the host or ip address and the port.
If these are correct when you click on RETRIEVE DATABASE, you are able to see all database on the server you specified.
So that means connection is ok, but of course user and password may be incorrect at this level.
If no database are retrieved, that means the host or/and port are not correct.
So before click on TEST, are you able to retrieve the database with RETRIEVE DATABASE button?
Are you able to ping the remote machine (SQL SERVER) with ip address or hostname?
Are you sure about the port for the SQL Server?

Extend range of mac mini shared interent connection via Airport

Hello all - Hopefully I can get some help with extending the range of my internet connection
Currently my internet connection is plugged into my mac mini via ethernet and shared via Wifi. I'd like to extend this connection via my airport express but can't quite figure out how to do this. When I try to manually configure the airport express to extend the range of the wifi signial the airport express becomes unrecognizable. and I get error code 10057 in airport utility.

well,
if your ISP locks your internet down to your MAC address it is very likely you will not be able to share it. They have means of stopping you from sharing the internet connection - as i.e. most hotels do.
Did you manage to share your connection this way with any other device like smart phone etc?
Why don't you speak to your ISP about the problem is slightly beyond me.

AirPort Extreme 3TB losing shared disk connection via ethernet

When my iMac is connected via ethernet can't access to shared disk, but when connecting via Wi-Fi got no problem accessing it.

Any ideas?

blinking yellow light - open airport utility and double click it, see what it tells you is wrong.
XP can't find - connect by ethernet then configure its wireless then disconnect the ethernet.

R3 service connection via TWO saprouters

This question has been asked a few times but without satisfactory answer I think.
I have the following plan for R3 Service connection using Internet SNC.
SAP -> sapserv6 saprouter -> internet -> saprouter 1 in DMZ -> firewall -> saprouter 2 in intranet -> DEV/QAS/PRD
I would like the second saprouter in intranet to minimize holes in the firewall as well as avoid changes in saprouter 1 and firewall when my sap landscape changes.
So with the saprouter 2 I would need...

So I reduce the config required at saprouter in DMZ and firewall which is good because Basis team have no control here and do all the config on saprouter in the intranet. And security team are happy because there are less holes in the firewall.
The problem is that in the definition of the Service Connection for my SAP systems, it is only possible to define the saprouter in the DNZ (our registered saprouter), so I'm not able to see how they could connect to our sap systems through the second saprouter???
I'm interested to here if anyone has managed to setup there servive connections like this.

Yes this is absolutely possible. You can use this solution.
And yes in the maintenance of system-data at the service marketplace - on the "systems" tab you will find two field, SAP-Router & Additional SAP-Router. Maintain both of your sap routers here. This will work.

Problems with sharing internet connection via usb

I have been sharing the internet connection on my iPhone 5 via usb to a PC for a few years. When updating to iOS 8.3 and iTunes to 12.1 (from iOS 6 if I remember correctly) the internet sharing through usb stopped working. Sharing through wifi works and settings are the same as when usb internet share did work. Any idea on how to solve this except downgrading?
For my troubleshooting, has anyone been able to share internet via usb to PC (or Mac) with iOS 8 / iTunes 12.
PS I have unliited cellular data and iPhone is my only internet connection at home,

There is a excellent book that teaches you how to do this (and other things) called Mac OS X Tiger: The Missing Manual (others of course)
If I remember correctly (book is on loan)
1: System Preferences>Network>Show>network port configurations (click unlock)
2: Click>Built in Firewire and drag to the top of the list (why I forget why)
3: System Preferences>Sharing>Internet>Share your connection from: Built in Ethernet (or what your using for your connection in) >To computers using: Built in Firewire>Start
4: Mac #2>Hook up Firewire 400 cable>System Preferences>Network>Location>New Location
5: Show>Network Port Configurations>Drag Built in Firewire to top of list and enable.
6: I also think you have to enable Personal Web Sharing on the Mac hosting the internet.
anyway play with it, you'll figure it out. if someone doesn't get to you.

Using a shared internet connection?

my workplace doesn't have a wireless network, but i can plug in my macbook and was hoping to use it as a wireless network for my ipod touch. i enabled a shared ethernet connection via the airport on my mac, but my ipod touch doesn't find it as a wireless network.
am i doing something wrong?

I assume iPad - in this setup the iPad and AppleTv will be unlikely to be able to see each other on the hotel network even if both are connected wirelessly. If they can and you don't have a user/room specific login I'd be concerned about other users seeing my devices too. These things are generally designed for single user access not to create your own local network. I suspect in the T&Cs for the wi-fi service it may preclude sharing the internet connection with another device, but if it works....

AD authentication against Shared Services failing randomly

We're seeing random failures in AD authentication against Shared Services both via the Excel Addin and via Maxl scripts.
SQL server (v 10.50.2500), Shared Services and OHS (v 11.1.2.2.303), and Essbase server (v11.1.2.2.104) are installed on the same physical box (16 cores, 192GB RAM) in a single-server configuration. It happens every few days at no fixed time and is resolved either by itself in a few hours, or by stopping and starting EPM services (Hyperion Foundation Services - Managed Server, OPMN service for Essbase, and OPMN service for OHS are stopped by running <Middleware_Home>\user_projects\epmsystem1\bin\stop.bat, and started by running start.bat).
While the AD authentication is down, nobody is able to connect (via the Excel Add-in or Maxl scripts) using their AD accounts and get the following error - "Analytical Services user [AD_user1] Authentication Fails against the Shared Services Server with Error [EPMCSS-00301: Failed to authenticate user. Invalid credentials. Enter valid credentials.]". Native authentication works at all times (even when AD authentication fails).
Although it seems to apply to an older version and to Planning/Workspace, we did look into "Error "EPMCSS-00301: Failed To Authenticate User. Invalid credentials" Intermittently When MSAD User Logs Into Workspace. (Doc ID 1389871.1)". But even after making the suggested changes, the problem persists. Any ideas what might be causing AD authentication to fail randomly like this? Below are some relevant portions of the logs -

"Assign Access Control" returns error for essbase apps in shared services

Hello,
I installed and configured Oracle EPM 11.1.2 (Foundation, Essbase, Planning, Reporting&Analysis):
OS: Windows Server 2008 Sp2 (32bit)
Default Installation with default ports,
Installation of all components on the same server,
no clustering
EPM System Diagnostic says that everything is OK.
Now I want to assign filter access for an essbase database in the Shared Services.
Starting the menu item "Assign Access Control" in Shared Services returns the following error:
Error 404--Not Found
From RFC 2068 Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1:
+10.4.5 404 Not Found+
The server has not found anything matching the Request-URI. No indication is given of whether the condition is temporary or permanent.

here's what I found out so far:
I get the error if I start the shared services console via the URL "http://servername:port/interop/index.jsp" and then select the "assign access control" for an essbase database.
If I start the shared services console via the workspace everything works fine.
Does anybody know what to do so that it also works if I start the shared services console via URL?

Essbase not registering with Shared Services in 11.1.2.1

During configuration Essbase is is failing on Register with Shared Services. The configuration was pretty straight forward and all defaults. I ran the diagnostic tool and it came back with connection refused. Essbase is the first (other than Shared Services connection) that I have attempted to configure on this box
We are running an all Windows environment with four separate servers. Shared Services is running on a separate box, connection to the SQL server is working, passwords are correct, username is correct, database is correct, there are no firewalls in place and I can get to Shared Services and workspace, services are running...
Any ideas?

I do not have external user directories defined in Shared Services yet.... I cant even get into Shared Services because a "Failed to authenticate user. Invalid credentials." message. I checked my credentials and they cant be wrong cause I copied and pasted them.

Configure shared services when installing hyperion planning

i installed oracle10.2 DB and shared services on windows(only installed DB and Shared Services!).
now use configuration tool to configure shared services(connect it to DB).
user:hypuser
password:XXX
but the error:
unable to connect to the database for the product Hyperion Shared Services
i thought maybe the user 'hypuser' dosen't exit yet. then i created it and make it DBA authoriry. and tried again. but still the same error.
do anyone know how to solve it.

1. have the user hypuser with the password
2. enter the correct hostname and port no for oracle

Service connection authorisations

Hello,
I want to enable for our customers to have an access to manage their service connections via our var solution manager.
So I prepare external alias for service:
/default_host/sap/bc/webdynpro/sap/ai_service_connections
but when our customer logs on he see ALL installation numbers from entire solutions managed via our solman.
I mean he see his installation number but also see many many more installation numbers from other customers.
I try to add to his user authorisation object D_SOLUTION and for field DSWPDINSNO I put proper installation number. Unfortunately he still see all installation numbers.
Anybody knows how to delimit visibility of these installation number at service connection page?

Connecting to Shared Services via java API

Hello All -
I am new to using Shared Services and I would like to know how to connect to Shared Services using a java API. We are using release 11.1.1.2 and I have found and read the documentation on how to maintain users and groups. The examples in the documentation demonstrates how to the task but assumes you have already connected to shared services or you know how to connect. Any help will be appreciated.
Keep in mind this is not an Essbase connectivity question but shared services.
