Shared services not responding...

Previous shared services used to work fine..
today all of a sudden it stoped showing login page....after 30 minutes.. internet explorer cannot display this page.....
tried to restart the services for ldap and shared services....its showing that the services can't be stopped....
even restart of the server didnt work....
can anyone let me know the reason for this
even tried to use recovery.bat scripts.....
one more question do i need to re-configure all the applications installed on the server....

If you remove the OpenLdap directory (\Hyperion\SharedServices\9.3.1\openLDAP) , then run the shared services installer again it should create it again.
You will have to configure Shared services again, as for keeping your registered apps I am not so sure on, you might be lucky and reuse the same database when you configure, if not then you will have lost it all and will have to reregister the products with SS.
Strange you couldn't recover the openldap db usually it is fine if you roll it back to a date when it was working fine.

that happen take about 15 minute however running show command normal and system also turnning the normal mode after 15minute.

SMTP service not responding (ims 5.2)

Are rebooting our NT server, the SMTP service (dispatcher) is running, but not responding to SMTP commands such as helo. I ran imsimta dirsync -F and nothing changed. The only solution that I found was to backup the directory services and queues, then uninstall and re-install the software. I hope that isn't the only fix.

Jerry I'm running into the same problem this is an issue the is supposed to be fixed in 5.2. Try stopping the SMTP inbound service and starting the other services. If that does not work disable the SMTP inbound and mail delivery service reboot navigate to server_root\msg-servername\imta\tmp delete all the locked files switch the services back to automatic and start them. I hope this helps and iPlanet fixes this issue

Security in shared services :not able to assining filters to the group

Hi all,
Iam getting the problem with assigning the filters to goups and users in shared services (our security is sharedservices mode), i refreshed the security
Its not showing any group for that cube ,,,, i gave the access to that group but iam not able to assign that filter to that group
wen i right clik on that cube , its showing page canot displayed, can any one face this issue
or any other utilitywe ahve to assighn filters to the group
Even I tried with maxl grant access but no use,

If you're on Windows, edit the hosts file from: C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc & include the Essbase, Shared services servers

EPM 11.1.2 Shared Services not sync up with EAS console security

Hi,
I've provisioned a native group to specific databases in Shared Services within EPM version 11.1.2. But when I go to Essbase->Security for the group, I see that the group also has access to extra databases that I didn't provisioned in Shared Services. I went back into Shared Services and checked that both the group and users within the group are not provisioned to those extra databases, which they are not. So I'm not sure where the extra databases that the group has access to came from.
Please help....I'm not sure where else to check or look at the connection between the databases that were provisioned versu not provisioned.

Hmm this is interesting...
I would deprovision the group first and make sure it has no access to Essbase anymore. Then I would provision the group with the correct database. Do you still see the below issue? I have no idea how the group got access to other databases.
I would also check the log files to try to find out how the group got provisioned for the other databases. I am not sure which log file would have this information though. Maybe John, or someone else can direct you there.

I am using hyperion 11.1.1.3, When I am starting the services of shared service from services.msc,it's starting but again stopping in few seconds.When I logged on to event.vwr it's saying..

Yes ,I am able to start the LDAP services,I even started shared services from START MENU from ORACLE EPM SYSTEM-FOUNDATION SERVICES-START SHARED SERVICES (ORACLE WEBLOIC)it STARTED and FAILED again.

when I checked C:\Hyperion\logs\services it is giving log4j:WARN No appenders could be found for logger (stdout).

NSAD user directory for shared services not working

Hi!
Im trying to configure a MSAD user directory for shared services in Essbase 11.1.2.1. I have done it correctly in Essbase 9.3.1.
Back then i had to import certificates to the cacerts java file. Is it still necesary? I dont see it mentioned anywhere in the v.11 docs, however, its not working using same parameters. I get an error saying i have specified "either host or port value incorrect".
Do i have to import certificates or am i missing anything else, can anybody help?

Certificates have nothing to do with MSAD.
when you reach to "MSAD user configuration" tab in Shared Services, try to see if you can auto configure user by inputting: sAMAccountNmae="some user ID", replace some user ID with your or admin ID, and verify if you can pull the users from the MSAD.

LDAP Services and Shared services not starting

Our foundation services are based in a Win server
We had a problem with the server and it required to be restarted, by now the front end Hyperion services such as Web Analysis are up but Shared services and LDAP services not. We tried to start them manually and even running the exec but it is not working.
Any help?

Just to add a few words to John's suggestion, this problem usually occurs when an abnormal shutdown takes place on shared services server. The backend database engine is a compact db called Berkeley. Fortunately crashes generally affect logs rather than the data. In such cases like yours I simply copy db_recover.exe from below folder
%Hyperion_Home%\SharedServices\9.3.1\openLDAP\bdb\bin
to below folder
D:\Hyperion\SharedServices\9.3.1\openLDAP\var\openldap-data
and double click on db_recover.exe in this folder. It has fixed my problems so far. However, getting a directory backup of above directory doesn't hurt. So, do this at your own risk after minimizing your risk by taking a backup.

Shared services not starting

My shared services is starting and stopping frequently. I tried starting the service from startup menu and in the command prompt it said unable to connect the database. Reconfigure using configuration utlity. I tried the same and the configuration of database is failing

Hyperion Integration Services - Not responding

Hi,
I forcefully closed the EIS console during Member Load using windows "Task Manager". When I re opened the EIS console and trying to connect to the EIS server it's not responding. It happened many times. It works again only if I restart the EIS server. But restarting the server every time is not recommended. Could you guess what would be the reason for this. And suggest me the solution.

Have you had a look at the EIS log in Hyperion\AnalyticIntegrationServices\log\olapisvr.log to see if you can see any clues to why it is crashing.

FTP sharing service not listed under sharing preferenecs

Hi All,
I need to enable FTP sharing on my MacBook Air (2011 OSX 10.7.2) but when I go to the Sharing settings under system preferences, FTP is not listed so I can't turn it on. Any thoughts as to how I install the FTP service?

I know how to enable it, it's just a stunningly bad idea. What are you doing that couldn't be done better with SFTP in 2012?
There's a reason Apple no longer exposes a GUI control for it.
But here:
sudo -s launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/ftp.plist
Replace 'load' with 'unload' to turn it off again.

AIM service not responding????

It has been three days, and I keep getting this message: The AIM service is temporarily unavailable. Wait several minutes and try again. I have checked my preference settings, .mac account and the password is correct. Using ichat 3.0.1 with Tiger. Don't know what to do. Please help me get my ichat back.

I too have not been able to connect for almost 48 hours of trying. This is becoming increasingly annoying. Wondering if this is related to AIM 4.7 for the Mac release!
I've also spoken to a few friends who are all also having problems. Seems AIM are shutting out iChat '@mac.com' clients.
Logging in with an AIM account is working fine although it is ridiculous that we should have to do this as it means advising all buddies of the change.
Is this something that should be addressed by AIM or Apple though? As Apple are encouraging .mac accounts, I would suspect it be Apple that should be addressing this problem or at least inform everyone what the problem is!

Service failure on Shared Services server

We are using HFM 11.1.1.3.500. I recently tried to log-in to the shared services test server that hasn't been used for a number of months. I immediately get the error *"Internet Explorer could not connect to hou2frs03:28080"* . On investigating, I find the following error in the application event log on the SS server: *"Cannot start service HyS9BPMA_NetJNIBridge...The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion"* After rebooting all the HFM test servers, I again cannot connect and get the same error in the event log.

the netjni bridge message is relating to the EPMA component not starting up correctly.
it is not related to shared services not starting.
you need to look at the shared services / foundation services log files to understand why shared services didnt start.
possibly if you haven't used the environment for a while and now it is not working, you may have database usernames/passwords in your oracle database which are set to expire after a certain period of time. it would be a good start to verify with your oracle DBA that all the usernames / schema names for the configured hyperion products in the oracle database are not set with a password expiry, and if so, ask for them to be unlocked again, and then restart the hyperion services. if the DBA insists to change the passwords you may have difficulties to reconfigure the hyperion components with the new passwords, so unlocking or removing the expiry restriction is the best step. but that may not be the problem, it depends what you find in the log files.
you can use the ziplogs utility to gather up all the logs to submit them to a support ticket if you can't debug them yourself. check out the epm installation and troubleshooting guide (pdf document) on the oracle documentation page as a first step.

How to see a shared services user in EAS Console?

Hii, I have externalized security for Essbase through shared services, now I created a new user in HSS & provisioned it with Filter, Write option in HSS. Now I refresh the security & want to see the user reflected in EAS console, I want this because I want to create essbase filters on that user. So if I am able to see that user in EAS Console, I can assign different filters to it. Can I do that?
