Shared - user-23f7aba631??? What is this?
In my Mac HD, under shared, its lists "user-23f7aba631". I click on it an cannot connect, I go to connect s my mac ID and that isn't valid, and it gives me the option to connect as a guest, but that doesn't work either. I brought up the info box, and it said it was a PC server. I have no idea what this is or how to fix it?

You are picking up another PC on your network. While you may not have a PC in your house, you can sometimes see other people from your cable network due to the way cable internet works.
Also, if you have an unencrypted wifi network, your neighbor could be 'borrowing' it.

if I click sharing connect, It can't.
what is this hp2c768a3a471e should I be worried or is it a part of time capsule. for the pc dudes?

Thank you!Somewhere at sometime you had a HP computer on the network.. perhaps someone with laptop that was visiting.. as a network device it has shown up in the network. It is not doing anything bad.. it will not harm you.. although if you are totally unaware of it.. I would recommend you change your wireless security on the TC.. make sure it is set to WPA2 Personal with a password of 10-20 characters pure alphanumeric mix of upper, lower cases and numerals.
See who screams.. that is the person you just cut off.
If you happen to have a printer with slot for SD card.. it is possible it is your printer. -
User Template : what is this folder ?
I've noticed a new folder called "user template" with a no access sign on it in the system folder. What is it ? Can it slow the system down ? Should I trash it ?
Don't touch anything in the System folder unless you are sure about what you are doing. That folder contains the initial home folder contents (in various languages) used when creating new user accounts, so changing its contents would make new accounts start with different folders and files in their home folders. It is only used when creating new accounts, so is not slowing the system.

When I click on it, it says "Google Sharing Enabled." What does this mean? Can I leave it disabled but get rid of that button/bar? There's no real trouble. I'm just curious about this, and also it's a little annoying.
This sounds like a problem with the GoogleSharing extension that shows in the System Details List.

In Finder something called 'vuuno' has suddenly appeared under Shared. I didn't knowingly connect and want to remove. Worried I've been hacked or something. What is this and how to remove permanently?
If you are using an unsecured or shared wireless network, then it could be just another user's computer name. If your sharing settings are correct, you have no worry. However, It would appear that at least some of the other user's settings are less than optimal inasmuch as his/hers is openly being displayed.
The next time you check into a hotel and use their wireless network, you are likely to see a number of other user's computers. Some just the name, as they share no files. While others are wide open, and their file sharing is on. -
This morning, without making any hardware or software changes, I found my internet access to be intermitent and slow across all browsers. I have attempted using wifi and ethernet, uninstalling browsers and re-installing, changing IP config, disabling firewall. Other devices on our network are operating normally but mine has been sluggish.
I then noticed that anytime one browser hung up, I could open a new one and the hung one would then start loading again. I could switch between browsers - as one hung up, I could load a new page in another and the hung one would begin working again.
One suggestion I found online was to repair the disk so I finally began with a permission verification. The first entry was as above:

ACL found but not expected on “Users/Shared”
I had issues about a month ago and fully repaired the hard drive at that time. I mostly use an ipad during the day, rarely on my macbook any more.
What is ACL?
I have remote management disabled in System Preferences > Sharing. So what is with the ARDAgent file mod and the non-repair?
Finally, what is the stopped by user message? I did nothing to interrupt permission verification - DiskUtility proceeded from there normally?
Could any of these have something to do with my odd browser behavior?You can ignore the parts about ARDAgent, it's normal behavior so you don't need to worry about it.
ACL is Access Control Lists; they're like advanced permissions for when standard (POSIX) permissions aren't enough for a server. However, you've mentioned that only your device is having issues on the network; I would try a clean install of OSX provided all of your info is backed up. -
I am trying to clean up my iMac hard drive and find a lot of space in a folder named 'Deleted Users'...what is this and can I delete it to save space?
If a user account is deleted and the data for that account is not deleted, it is placed there. Yes, you can delete the files there.

I have an Apple TV 2nd Gen, iPad 2 and can't get the icon to appear when i swipe from left to right. What am I missing?
I am able to get the 'Home sharing' 'user and password on my Mac.
Also using IPad 2 I am able to get the ITunes to accept the user name and same password as the Mac.
However, the only way I can see the 'Home sharing; icon is in Music on the Ipad. When I tap on the Icon it asks for a password.
When I give the same password, it is rejected.

JaxxdiggsPersonally I think the iOS devices are poor at reconnecting - Airplay establishes that a link is available but when the iPhone/iPad has been away from the house and rejoins the network i think AppleTV already thinks it's connected with a different IP address and fails to recognise it has joined the network again with new credentials.
Something along those lines anyway.
I find that a combination of restarting AppleTV, router and iOS device tends to fix it, but not for everyone.

'Device sharing same IP address as your computer' - what does this mean?
I purchased an Airport Express yesterday and was having connection problems after setting it up to only join my existing network (to play wireless audio to speakers in the kitchen) - I seem to have solved the issue by switching off WPS on my base station (provided by my ISP)
My question is: after making this change to the settings, I got a message saying 'this device' (presumably meaning the Airport Express) was now sharing the same IP address as my MacBook Pro.
What does this mean, and will there be any detrimental effects?Thanks BTF. Presumably only my MacBook Pro and the Apple TV are connected to the internet as the Airport Express is only set up to join the existing network with the crappy router as the base station. Neither the ATV or AE have static IPs assigned.
I have since restarted my MacBook Pro and at present have Airplay audio streaming to the AE and video to the ATV simultaneously without any (at the moment) problems. -
In the Finder sidebar, under 'Shared', I encounter my TC, as well as another item with a long name starting with 'hp'. 'Get info' shows it to be a 'PC'. However, I don't have a PC. It cannot be my printer (HP), since that has anoter name.
I can not access the item, which has me a 'guest'.
What could this item be? And how to get rid of it?

DBIt's almost certainly your hp printer and is showing the WiFi adapter MAC address after the HP.
To verify, look at the printer configuration page via Bonjour in Safari. The settings tab shows the Mac address in the bottom left hand corner for my model of HP printer.
I'm sorry but I can't explain why that would show up in the finder. -
Mac user OS 10.6.8 Firefox 6.0.2. Click the Firefox icon in dock, program does not open new window. Type cmd+N to open new window, cmd+T to open new tab or cmd+L to enter URL, nothing happens. What causes this, and what can be done?
It's strange. The problem apparently resolved itself after I ran TechTool on it. When I clicked on Firefox last night, I had no problem opening a window. Thanks for your help. (As to your previous post, the focus was on Firefox and neither the speed keys nor the menu bar would open a window or tab of allow me to enter a URL to open a window. Strange!)

Two unknown computers show up under "shared." What does this mean?
When I open a finder window, two computers that are unknown to me show up under "shared." What does this mean?
Does this mean someone has broken into my wireless network? Or that these people have access to my files? I don't want to be "sharing" anything with people I don't even know.It means two of your neighbors also have a wireless network. They cannot access your computer unless you give them your userid and password.
Go ahead and try to access their computers. Unless they have guest sharing turned on, usually to share photos with family and friends, you will not be able to access their computers.
I’m on a university network and have hundreds of names in the Shared section of my sidebar, but do not have access to their computers, nor theirs to mine. -
