SharePoint 2010 Session issue for Internet site

Hi,
We have migrated one application from MS.net to SharePoint 2010. Session is used allover application. The issue is, when we are using this site from Intranet, session is working absolutely fine, but when we use this site over Internet, Session is getting
null frequently for both FBA & windows authentication.
We have enabled session in web.config as below :
<sessionState mode="InProc" timeout="600" cookieless="false" />
& one more point i would like to add is, our internet site is on different port(extended port). We have cross-checked web.config from both port to resolve this issue, but nothing helped us out.
Please help..!!!

Hello,
Just try to enable session state in SP server. You may run below powershell command:
Enable-SPSessionStateService -DatabaseName [-DatabaseServer ] [-DatabaseCredentials ]
Later edit each web app web.config file (from virtual directory) and set the enableSessionState property of the pages element as follows: <pages enableSessionState="true"
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/markarend/archive/2010/05/27/using-session-state-in-sharepoint-2010.aspx
Once you done then see the result

  • URL iview issue for intranet sites

    Hi Guys,
I am creating a simple url iview for one of our Sharepoint site. when I preview the iview it works fine. but when I assign it to some Role, it doesn't load. "Page cann't be displayed" error comes. Some prefix with the text  "res://ieframe.dll/dnserror.htm#" added it the url.
At the same time when I create url iview for internet sites they works. I have checked the Proxy settings and browser setting but no help.
Please suggest if you something to try ?
    Regards
    Amit

    Hi Amit,
Can you check the NWA Logs --> Default Trace to see if there are any log messages captured for this error. And analyse them.
Also run a HTTP trace to check if the request calls generated. See if the Sharepoint URL is getting called or not. And status of response from that.
Looking at the error, would suggest you to check the host names used on the URLs, should be FQDN.
Also if your browser is IE8, may also want to add the portal and sharepoint domains to be shown in compatibility view. Can do this from Tools --> Compatibility View settings.
Finally below is a help link to set up iViews in portal for sharepoint. Can refer to this and check the steps done at your end.

Fatal Error: Could not find Feature AnalyticsLinks in sharepoint 2010 while migration from 2007 site using stsadm command

    Hi ,
Firstly, I need to verify the followings:
Whether you created a feature called AnalyticsLinks and activatated it at SharePoint 2007 site.
Whether you installed the feature at SharePoint 2010 site.
Please deactivate the feature AnalyticsLinks, then migrate SharePoint 2007 site to SharePoint 2010, compare the result.
Also , please check whether you have installed the feature AnalyticsLinks at your SharePoint 2010 site. If not, please install and activate it, compare the result.

  • Sharepoint 2010 custom search for subsites

    Sharepoint 2010
Hello, i have main site and about 30 subsites. And on each subsite about 30 document librarys.
I created basic search center custom site with name "Search". I also created custom scope. So when i search on my main site, anything is fine and when i go to subsite document library my scope is changed to this site:document librarys name. Then
i pu something in search line and click search. On my custom search page i can see, that all links are from correct subsite and correct document library, but my scope shows "This Site:Search". So when i put something else in my search line and click
search, i dont get any results, because it searches only on search page. Even when i click on scope dropdown, there is no choice, only "This Site:Search".
Is there any solution to create a search scope, that would take the parameters from the document librarys URL from wich i am searching for and put it in the scope.
    P.S.
Default search OSSSearchResults.aspx works fine, but i nead to change xsl code.
I tried to put scope dropdown to "show and default to url parametr", but nothing is changed.

    Hi Dmitri,
If you want to search on a library, you can go to the library, then search using the Search Box at the top of the page. When you search, it will go to the OSSSearchResults.aspx page, and on the page, you will find there are two search scope, one is the library,
another is the site. If you want to search on another library, you can go to another library, then search.
Or, you can create a custom search scope pointed to the library, and add the search scope into the Search Dropdown display group.
More infoemation, please refer to the link:

  • What is the best sharepoint 2010 synchronisation tool for macbook air

what is the best sharepoint 2010 synchronisation tool for macbook.
Access sharepoint from a mapped drive is really slow, so I want to save my files locally and synchronise with Sharepoint 2010.
Is there an application or client for this.

Ok, so do you have a recommend brand and space capacity?
You mentioned that one of your primary needs is to store video, which demands large capacity. As a consequence I'd suggest a drive with at least 1Tb, perhaps greater, capacity. I don't have a preferred brand or manufacturer - it's a bit like recommending which is better between Ford and Chevy - but I have a couple of Western Digital external USB drives which have proven very reliable, and a Seagate which is used as a daily backup and has worked flawlessly.
DWB's point about backups is important too, because when you store files on any drive there is a risk of that drive failing - and indeed, all drives will fail at some point. The question is, can you live with the total loss of those files if the drive does fail? If you are storing files that you value, then a backup is needed to help protect those files. Ideally that would mean two drives, not one. One to use for the storing the files, and the second to use to back those files up.

  • HTTP Acceleration for internet sites

I am starting a pilot on Version 4.1.1a.10 and have 15 sites.
A small site w/ T1 has a majority of the bandwidth being consumed by....you guessed it HTTP web traffic! So, The question is
If I deploy an Core WAE in my DC at the inside of the "Surf" firewall, Will the user behind the Edge WAE in the branch really feel the benefits when browsing internet sites? Does this new Feature in 4.1 attempt to mitigate in some small way the need for caching servers? Connection reuse is a major component here but how well will this function on a HTTP site outside of the Data Canter?
    Thanks in advance
    Todd
Most of the discussion for HTTP acceleration has been for internal HTTP sites.

So, My interpretation of that statement is yes a little bit. It will reduce the latency between the internet Access point and the customer LAN. but what about connection reuse for internet sites? If the remote site goes to Facebook every day ( for busness use lets say) will a core WAE optimize(reduce latency) and use DRE cacheing techniqes to improve performance to that site.

  • SCOM and SharePoint 2010 Add-In for Dashboards (Issue)

I have an environment with SCOM 2007 R2, all working fine. I have installed ans new test server to integrate SCOM and SahrePoint 2010. On this server I have installed Visio 2010 (Yes, I know, never install Visio in a server, but this ins juts for test).
    I have installed Visio Add-In and SharePoint 2010 Add-In.
All my dashboards created in Visio to reflect health state are working fine on Visio, in fullscreen. But, When I import this Visio file, (in . VWD), to SharePoint, I can see normally the Visio in my Webpart, all showing fine (I have used the step by step
to configure SCOM and SharePoint integration). But, after my first Refresh for the diagram all Health State Icons becomes a FAIL Icon (like image below). This sounds like some permission problem, because on Visio all Health State Icons works fine.
    Someone can help me?

I have used this step by step before, but I think the problem is a parte, because I dont understand better, the part is:
To configure Visio Services for Read-Only Operator permissions on the RMS
In order for Visio Services to refresh the diagrams that are published and connected to Operations Manager data, the Visio Services service application must be configured with credentials that have access to the RMS. This is because
the Visio Services service application is executing the data provider which is responsible for returning the updated dataset from the RMS.
The easiest way to configure this is to make the account that Visio Services is running as a Read-Only Operator on the RMS.
    To do this…
    Create domain account
    Run the Operations Manager console.
From the Administration tab click on User Roles.
In the User Roles list double-click on the Read-Only Operators role.
Add the account that is configured for Service Application Pool.
Can anyone help me about where configure this account on SharePoint??

  • Network Place to SharePoint 2010 unable to access sub sites with error: "The folder may have been moved or deleted".

I am working on SharePoint 2010 Enterprise and had recently upgraded our site from Sharepoint 3.0 Services to SharePoint 2010 Enterprise.  Everything seems to be working fine for the site, but there is one issue.  The problem I am running into
is when I create a Network Place, I am able to view the documents and lists of the main page, but if I click on a folder for a sub site, I get the following error:
"Documents in this folder are not available.  The folder may have been moved or deleted, or network problems may be preventing a connection to the server.  There is a problem with the web server.  Please try again later or contact the
    server administrator."
If there were a network issue, I would not be able to navigate around on the main page to lists and document libraries.  This seems to affect all of the sub sites on my site.  Explorer view works if that information is required and I do not get
    error messages using Explorer view.
Thanks in advanced for any help on this.

  • Sharepoint 2010 Accessing online through internet

Before publishing sharepoint 2010 to internet what should be done
    we have following architecture
    one web app
    one wfe
    one database server
all are virtual machines on single server
what are the recommendations and best practice
we do have liecese of fore front protection is it enough or we have to have liecese of symantec protection of sharepoint 2010
    need the best approach
    MCTS,ITIL

    Hiya,
    Heres a few considerations:
1: In regards to AV there are a few solutions:
a: Use SharePoint integrated AV only. This will scan your SP files and SP files only. No server scanning.
b: Use Server scanning only. This will scan only files on your server and not files within SharePoint.
    c: Use both.
    d: Use none.
Which one you need depends on your usage pattern and users. If you already have AV scanning on your client computers are they are the only ones uploading, you should not need a or c. If you only access your servers from protected computers, you should not
need b. IF you do both, there would be no problem in choosing d.
When you want to expose a solution to the internet, there are quite a few things to consider if we take everything into consideration. The network placement of your front end servers should be DMZ, with only specified ports open to and from App server and
database server. App server and database server could be placed within your normal LAN. That way your minimizing your attack surface as well as minimizing the routes available if second line of defense is broken.
Now as for SharePoint, you need a FIS license, which is quite a different price tag than server + CAL licensing.
In terms of making the solution available you need to create a route from a client to your site. That means. DNS record -> Public IP -> Public IP -> Your SharePoint server -> SP site Name(Your web server should be responding on this name)
I presume that your site is internet type of site, meaning your allowing anonymous and not Extranet type of site, in that case your site also needs to have anonymous access enabled.
If you can provide more details about your solution, it would be possible to be more specific in terms of defining the best architecture :)

  • SharePoint 2010 Database maintenance for beginners / developers

    Hey,
here is a thing which I concern myself with from time to time.
As a fulltime developer for SharePoint, I'm not quite familiar with maintaining it's databases. So after I set up my dev environment I usually don't care about maintaining the system. The logical consequence is that the system begins to slow down after a
    while.
I don't have the time (and - to be honest - not the muse) to deep dive into the recommended maintaing plans by microsoft but I want to keep the performance of my system on an acceptable level. So I read the best practices provided by microsoft about index
defragmentation, reorganizing, shrinking and so on but for me it's quite difficult to fully dive into these things without spending to much of my business time.
So I wander if there are any execution-ready T-SQL scripts or something like that, which I can run from time to time to prevent my databases from to high fragmentation. I found some scripts for a stored procedure which reorganizes a particular index. But
what I am thinking about is a script which iterates through all databases, all tables and all indexes and reorganizes them.
I'm not looking for the perfect mainenance plan to achieve the best possible performance - I just want to prevent my dev environment from slowing down to much.
Are there any scripts like that out there? or do you have other tips for me?
    Thank you!

    Hi,
The steps to configure the maintenance plan is very easy and wont take more than 10 minutes. It is one time activity. It is nothing but drag and drag drop the required tasks from the Tool bar. You can schedule the maintenance plan to run on specific
time or can run directly on demand basis.

If you are looking only for SQL scripts then you may need to post in SQL forum, because maintenance plans will be almost similar for SharePoint Databases/or any SQL DBs.

  • How to configure SharePoint 2010 / 2013 Search for SQL Database Contents and Oracle Database Contents?

    Hi All,
We are planning to maintain the contents in SQL / Oracle. Could you please suggest anyone which is best for SharePoint 2010 / 2013 Search. How to configure the search for external content source?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Prakash

This link explains supported and non supported scenarios to use Oracle for BCS
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/sharepoint/en-US/453a3a05-bc50-45d0-8be8-cbb4e7fe7027/oracle-db-as-external-content-type-in-sharepoint-2013
And here is more on it
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff464424%28office.14%29.aspx
And here how you can connect Oracle to SharePoint for BCS functionality

Overall it seems SQL doenn't require any special arrangement to connect BCS to SharePoint.

  • Skip Webbproxy Pop Up for Internet sites iViews

    Hallo,
    we use EP 7.0 SP9.
Our customer has a special security feature: Users need username/password to connect to the Internet. When they open the browser a pop up appears. After typing in their username-password they can view the Internet-site.
We created some Internet URL-iViews. When we go to these sites, the pop up appears.
Has anybody got an idea how we can skip the pop up window???
(We could use a general username/password for authentication).
    Thanks
    Antje

  • AD DNS resolution Issue for specific Site

    Hello Experts,
Currently I am facing issue for DNS Resolution.
    I have 2 Sites
    Site A(2003 R2 DC) & Site B(2008 R2 ADC)
    my domain name is abc.co.in
and I have another forwardlookup zone abcl.com (mail.abcl.com/Dev.abcl.com)
I am able to resolve host recoreds for abc.co.in & abcl.com from site A
I am facing issue for Site B
unable to resolve A records for mail.abcl.com
when I am trying to resolve using
    ============================================================
    nslookup mail.abcl.com 192.168.0.5 (Site B ADC)
    getting below output
    Server : adc01siteB.abc.co.in
    Address : 192.168.0.5
    Non autoritative answer :
    Name : com.co.in
    address : 192.254.185.209
    Aliases : mail.abcl.com.co.in
    ==============================================================
    mail.abcl.com - 192.168.0.11 (Actual Internal A record)
I want to know why this trying to resolve from external DNS (192.254.185.209)
your help / pointers will be appreciable
    R Udeg

Is your settings for site B the same for site A in the DNS Server properties?
Did you make sure that UDP and TCP port 53 is open both ways?
Did you make sure all resource records have been updated?
Did you flush the cache/ scavenging happened?
Did you check the DNS forwaders and recursion?
Remember if a DNS server fails to resolve a name for which it is not authoritative, the cause is usually a failed recursive query. Recursive queries are used frequently by DNS servers to resolve remote names that are delegated to other DNS zones and servers.
Note: If you disable recursion on the DNS server, you will not be able to use forwarders on the same server.
