SharePoint 2013 Enterprise with SP1 on Windows Server 2012??????? What am I missing?

Hi there,
As per MS - SharePoint 2013 Enterprise SP1 is compatible with Windows Server 2012 R2.
I have Windows Server 2012 R2 installed - now it does not let me install SharePoint 2013 Enterprise (Standard without SP1).
AND SP1 can ONLY be installed AFTER SharePoint 2013 Enterprise is installed.
So how to install SharePoint 2013 Enterprise with SP1 on Windows Server 2012?
Thanks.

You can download it at the Microsoft Volume Licensing Service Center:
https://www.microsoft.com/Licensing/servicecenter/default.aspx
or at the Microsoft Developer Network:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/
Please note that if you do not have access to either, you will have to work with the vendor who sold you SharePoint 2013 to get you a new ISO with SP1, or you will have to find a way to make a slipstreamed version on your own.  I'm really hoping you
have VLSC or MSDN access, as this will make things much easier for you.

    Hi,
From the error message, the cabinet file 'EngineInstanceData.cab' required for this installation is corrupt and cannot be used. I'm afraid you have to download a new ISO for Exchange 2013 incl. SP1 and run the setup again.
If it still doesn't work, I recommend you remove the failed Exchange server installation, then re-install Exchange server.

  • SharePoint server 2013 Search Service App on Windows server 2012 R2 not working

    Hi all,
I installed SharePoint server 2013 on Windows  server 2012 R2 using VirtualBox.  I created a DC(domain controller) server with a domain set up on one VM and it has SQL server 2012 SP1 installed. Then SharePoint 2013 on another VM
was set up to access the DC server.  Everything seems working except Search Service App which cannot be sucessfully set up. Creation process for Search service app says Successful and 4 search databases were created and look fine. But when I navigate

Since separate DC server and SharePoint server do not work, I installed SharePoint 2013 on DC server ( so DC server has everything on it now ) but it gives exactly same result. Later I installed SharePoint 2013 SP1 and still have the same problem
with Search Service app. I spent two weeks tried all suggestions available from Web and Google but SharePoint Search Service simply does not work. Config and other databases work but why Search Service has this issue seemingly related to search DB.
Could anybody please help out? You deserve a top SharePoint consultant award if you could find a solution. I am so frustrated and so tired by this issue.
    Thanks a lot.

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that  SharePoint server 2013 Search Service App did not work on Windows server 2012 R2.
Please make sure you configure Search Service Application correctly. You can refer to:Create and configure a Search service application in SharePoint Server 2013
I recommend to created new Search Service Application, and made a full crawl. Then assigned the new SSA as the default SSA for webapplications. Finnlay checked  the issue doesnt occur now,
If all search related components now are online, to keep the enviroonment clean, you can delete the old SSA.
    Thank you for your understanding.

Hi, I'm not sure if I've done something wrong or if i lack some steps.
We have an existing server having Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 as OS, DC, and DNS. I had to upgrade it based on global standards so I upgraded it into Windows Server 2012 R2.
What I did was an online upgrade, insert the DVD installation disc and it asked for a adprep for forest and domain.
I did both forest and domain adprep and installation continued. After reboot, it showed up errors on my local server. Please see image below:
and when i clicked each roles under Manageability, it shows me
Is there something I need to do to fix these red marks?

    Jeff

These are the logs i've seen inside Custom Views>Server Roles>AD DS, DNS Server, and Administrative Events respectively.

  • Upgrade from Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 to Windows Server 2012 R2

Hi, I was trying to setup a new DC for our company, originally it's DC is Windows Server 2003 SP2, we decided not tomigrate it and instead build a new one from scratch which is Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1. I was able to set it up, perform windows updates,
added roles, perform Domains and Trusts, etc
When suddenly our global standards shifted to Windows Server 2012 R2, so instead of creating another server from scratch, this is the time to upgrade from 2k8 to 2K12 R2, besides the MAPtool which I've downloaded to check for prerequisites, etc, are there
other things I need to be aware of? backups? etc.

  • RelayState parameter is full support with ADFS in Windows Server 2012?

We have implement Single Sign-On with ADFS. (Service Provider - salesforce.com , identity provider - ADFS). When we authenticate with ADFS it will

  • Problems with ftp on Windows Server 2012

    Hi all,
We just setup a new server running 2012.  I ran into a problem while trying to move over/recreate some of our exisiting jobs that run on the task scheduler on a Windows 2003 Server box.
One job in particular, logs into another local machine, deletes a file and copies a replacement file - this has worked for years.  When I tried to get it to work on the 2012 machine, it would hang at the copy statement.  I am thinking it has something
to do with the firewall since I found this error in the server log and the times are about the same times I kept trying this:
    Inbound notifications are not enabled
    Application Path:    C:\windows\system32\ftp.exe
I have no idea what to change.  We just need the script below to log into the machine, delete the existing file, then copy the new version of the file.  The size of the file I am testing with is 2k, so the size is not an issue.  Also, I tried
this in a command line and it froze at the copy statement - so that is how I realized where the problem was.  The bat file resides in the same folder on the server as the file to be copied.
When running this in a dos prompt, I get a return code of "425 Not able to open data connection." after a long period.
Any and all help is appreciated.
    The entire bat file contains:
    open 10.10.10.47
    userid
    password
    cd /mpl
    del boatemp.txt
    put boatemp.txt
    quit

Ok, so please try to restart the FTP Server as on 2012 machine sometimes Firewall rules may not be enabled untill restart is performed.
Then ensure FTP Server is allowed for the 'profile' that your network card has been allocated
Run firewall.cpl and go to Allow an app or feature through Windows Firewall.
Make sure the FTP Server is allowed for the 'profile' that has been assigned to your network card.
In incoming Rules check if FTP rules are enabled (21 port, passive port and SFTP port)
If yes and you do not see anything unusuall, check you can connect to FTP if you disable firewall.

    Hi  TiM,
According to your description, my understanding is that you got an error when you installed the prerequisites for SharePoint 2013 SP1 on Windows 2012 R2.
Please make sure that you have installed .NET Framework 3.5 on Windows Server 2012 R2, and enable .NET Framework 3.5 by using the Add Roles and Features Wizard.

I just ran the PowerShell command to install the Windows components on win2k12 r2 and Readiness Checks - Prerequisite Analysis came down to 1 error
prerequisites that are needed to install Exchange 2013 on a Windows Server 2012 R2 or Windows Server 2012

  • SSRS 2012 - Windows Server 2012 R2 issue with OLEDB Connection String

Hoping someone can help. As stated above, we are running SQL Server 2012 with SP1 on Windows Server 2012 R2. When I create a Data Source as follows in Reporting Services, I receive the following error message. Any thoughts on why this fails? The same data
source works on Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise SQL Server 2008 R2.
    Data Source type: OLE DB
    Connection string: Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;Data Source="\\networknamehere\CSVFiles";Mode=Read;Extended Properties="text;HDR=YES;FMT=CSVDelimited"

    Hi ABAA101,
According to your description, when you use csv file as data source in SSRS 2012 report, you got the error message.
I tested the issue in my local machine, due to some policy restrictions, I could not install Access in my local machine. To workaround the issue, we can use the connection string like below:
    Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=C:\\report;
    Extended Properties="text;HDR=Yes;FMT=Delimited"
The csv file is stored in report folder in C driver.
In Query text box in the dataset, we can use the query like below:
    Select * from new.csv
If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask.
