SharePoint 2013 Log in Pop up is coming randomly.

The log-in pop up window is coming some time in the SharePoint 2013 Publishing site template although it has been configured as window authentication with NTLM. The user is able to see the site after cancel it. But main problem is why it is coming for domain
user.
The site has been added to local intranet zone in the Browser.
Kindly refer to the below screen shot.

Anil thakur

Is the URL the same as the .local address in the authentication prompt?  If it is not, you most likely have something on the page that is not using relative paths.  You could work around this by adding the address in the authentication prompt
as an AAM to the site.

While this applies to 2010, I believe the same is true with 2013:

In my case, SharePoint and client machine is different domain.Has any way allow SharePoint 2013 log in without entering domain?
I found that IIS 6 has a option for Basie authentication and set up default domain, is it suitable for new version IIS and SP13?

If I am not mistaken IIS 6.0 has a default domain name setting, but please verify..
This is *incorrect* for SharePoint sites.
There the server name is always assumed as the "domain".
So writing in only username would work fine if username is a local user on the server where the SharePoint system is running but not otherwise.
Instead of bothering about needing to write domain name in addition to username, the problem should be avoided altogether by
    a) making sure that the site is in the Intranet Security Zone for IE 6 / 7 and that the default value of "automatic login only in the Intranet zone" is still selected.
    OR
    b) if the site isn't in the Intranet, by specifying for the IE Security zone that it is in that Login is "automatic login using current name and password".
The way we've done this is to configure ONLY Basic Authentication in the IIS site and then add the domain to the Default domain text box.  This works fine, but unfortunately sends a user's credentials in clear text.  To prevent this, we used a
self-signed SSL cert to keep traffic encrypted even though its using Basic Authentication.
Of course you may want to experiment with using both Integrated Windows and Basic Authentication and possibly get a mixture of both behaviors

  • Sharepoint 2013 delivers documents through IIS too good! Need to restrict by logged in user

I have a Sharepoint 2013 app that lets external users (https://) pull data from SQL to create links on the page that the user can click on to get documents to pop-up in the browser so they can view/save them.  The page sends the user's ID as a parameter
and the stored proc uses that to return only the documents that user is allowed to see.  Took forever to figure out... looks great... my employer is going to be impressed and save money... yada, yada yada!  Problem is:  If you knew the name
of a directory on the mapped location and knew the filename (somehow), and you had a login that got you to the site, you could successfully put that address in your address bar and the document would come up!  That's a bad thing!  I need to only
let users see documents they have access to.
I have been playing with the app pool settings and advanced settings for the sub-site, but it still lets me pull items that the logged-in user doesn't have permissions on the server to get to.  I haven't been able to prove it, but I suspect that IIS
is sending another login credential to the directory to retrieve the file... something like "admin" or something that can have wider access.
Here is my setup:  I have a directory on another server that is mapped to the Sharepoint Server box.  I have a Virtual Directory that points to that mapped drive.  My Sharepoint Page is on a site of its own and is called with the URL "https://reportcenter.<company
name>.com".  There is only one page on the site.  When the page opens it provides links to documents on the Virtual Directory.  When you click on any of them the files appear in the browser just fine.  Sharepoint is running on a
Windows 2012 R2 Standard OS.  The test user I am using is "Client1" and they are a member of the "SP_Clients" group which is not a member of anything else in Active Directory.  In the file directory I went to the Share list and
made sure my test user and the SP_Clients group is not in the list... if the system tried to use Client1 there is no way they should get access.
Any thoughts on what I can do to stop Clients from getting to files they shouldn't be?

Thank you for your question and reply.
No, the identity is not passed as a URL property.  The way it works is that SP verifies the user and sends them to the default page after they sign-in.  Once there, the page evaluates the UserID value and that values is passed to a stored procedure
as a parameter.  The user can't get to the page unless they are verified by SP, they can't somehow go around this.
Now, once the page loads they click on one of files they wish to see (a link on the page that was created from the results of the stored procedure call).  The link points to a virtual directory setup in IIS that points to a mapped drive where the files
are located.  The security on the files is set on the directories in their actual location.  I just need SP to pass the user's ID to the file directory and check the sharing rights on the file to see if this user has rights to get it.  It seems
like SP is passing some other credential (probably SP_Admin, or Admin or something) which has the ability to read the file and therefore pass it back to the screen.
I can't put the documents in SharePoint... they have to be in a file directory. The reason is that we have an elaborate program that runs every month to create these files and places them in the correct directories.  Somehow changing that application
to create the files and place them programmatically in a SharePoint directory is beyond the scope of the project.  Under the circumstances, it would be much simpler to just provide the user a list of the documents they have access to and have them click
on a link on a page and have the document appear in their browser.  Everything actually works, but I just have this last piece where SP is not 'telling' the file directory the UserID of the logged in user and therefore all the documents are available.
All that needs to be done, is to make sure the userID is passed to the file directory so it can be checked against the security there to see if the user can have the file or not.
I hope that makes sense.  I look forward to hearing back from you with your thoughts on this and how this can be accomplished.
    Thanks,
    Scott

  • SharePoint 2013 audit log unexpected error

In one of my SharePoint 2013 site collection, when i try to save a audit log,  i get unexpected error. It worked fine before last week and no any special setting has been applied before the issue appeared. The issue doesn't appear in other site collection.
i have tried to reproduce the issue with farm admin account and site collection admin, no success for all these accounts. However, i can see access denied error in the ULS log although i think the permission is not the problem. You may check the ULS log below.

  • Pop up windows in SharePoint 2013

    hello expert...
i have a report that has drilled through action (open subreport on click) in a new window. i have deployed the same report on the SharePoint 2013 however when i performed drill through action and expected the subreport to open in new window
    but nothing happens.
i want to ask how can i perform pop up window in sharepoint 2013?

For some reason I thought I ran into this problem but it's been so long ago. One thing you might end up having to do is link directly to the sub report using paramaters passed via URL. So something like
https://sharepoint.domain.org/reports/report1.rpt?parameter1=x;parameter2=y so it loads the report using those parameters.
Basically try to do a click link in the report to google using the pop up code and see if you can at least get like google to come up separate, then you can just build a URL link to a report with the paramets to get into the report with the data needed.

  • Crawl log error in sharepoint 2013 for search services

    Dear Support,
please find below mention crawl log error in sharepoint 2013 for search services.
8,597 The server is unavailable and could not be accessed. The server is probably disconnected from the network.
423 This item could not be crawled because the repository did not respond within the specified timeout period. Try to crawl the repository at a later time, or increase the timeout value on the Proxy and Timeout page in search administration. You might also
want to crawl this repository during off-peak usage times.
59 Processing this item failed because of a timeout when parsing its contents.
11 The filtering process has been terminated
4 SharePoint returned an empty response.
3 The crawler could not communicate with the server. Check that the server is available and that the firewall access is configured correctly.
2 The crawler could not communicate with the server. Check that the server is available and that the firewall access is configured correctly. If the repository was temporarily unavailable, an incremental crawl will fix this error.
would request your support for resolving this type of issue

    1. Are you able to browse the sites on SP server. server is unavailable means that application pool
of that site is down. Check application pool on all server. if you start any application pool. make sure it does not stop few minutes later. you need to update password if it does stop
    2. Create a disable loopbackcheck of registry on all servers
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/sharepoint_foxhole/archive/2010/06/21/disableloopbackcheck-lets-do-it-the-right-way.aspx
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/926642/en-us
    3. Create a new search service application and check if you face same issue.
    4. I assume you have change some password or other setting when you started facing this issue. what changes were made in environment

  • SharePoint 2013 On premises provider hosted app - Logged in user info

As per my understanding, following scenario is not possible in a provided hosted app deployed for SharePoint 2013 on-premises.
    1) User clicks the button of app on a SharePoint Site. Remote Web app page opens
    2) Remote app page shows the message "Welcome [User Name]" (without authenticating user again)
    3) If that user has contributor permissions in originating SharePoint site, the app should display "Welcome Contributor" otherwise it should display "Welcome Visitor"
Please let me know if above functionality could be achieved?
    Hammad Arif EPM Advice Blog

    Hi,
According to your description,my understanding is that you want to show user information when clicking  the app without asking credentials .
By default, SharePoint Provider hosted app is hosted outside SharePoint web application, so it needs credentials to get OAuth.
I suggest you can use SharePoint hosted app, it hosted at the same web application as SharePoint, then when you click the app, it will get the current logged in user without  without asking credentials.

  • Cannot find Site Inventory table in Logging database in SharePoint 2013

I'm trying to build an Analysis Services cube based on the wss_logging SharePoint 2013 database, like I did some times ago in SharePoint 2010.
I'm extracting Site Sizes for example from the sitesize table. My problem is that all sites are referenced by their Id, and I can't find any table in the WSS_Logging database that convert Id's into Url (or anything readable). In SharePoint 2010, there was
a table named SiteInventory that did the job, but it seems that the timerjob related to this table no longer exists in SharePoint 2013 (the job name was Site Collection Usage if I remember right).
Any idea where I can (easily) find the correspondance Id - Site Name in SQL Server Logging database ? Or somewhere else (but remember I must use it in Analysis Services) ?
    Regards.

    Hi Bolebo,

  • Credential Pop up while opening word document in SharePoint 2013

    Hi
When I open office documents from SharePoint library, it is asking for credentials. Even if I put my credentials, pop up window will not go away. I have IE 11 and SharePoint 2013.
I have put this site in trusted site zone. User Authentication  - Automatic logon with current user name and password.
I have clicked on Remember my credentials. I can see my saved credentials in credential manager.
The thing is, I was able to open word document without asking for password before. But recently, I have changed IE settings to be default level for some other reason, and since then it is asking me for credentials.
I looked online so many articles, but nothing has helped me yet.
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi Cameron
Thanks for your response. Yesterday night, when I tried to open documents from sharepoint site from my home, it didn't ask me for credentials. I was using same laptop which I used in the office.
Again, today in the office, It started asking for credentials when I open office document.
The only difference is internet connection is different between my home and the office.
Not sure what could be the issue.
    Thanks

  • Best logging option for SharePoint 2013 on-premise application

What is the best logging option for SharePoint 2013 on-premise application?

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you want to know the logging option in SharePoint 2013.
SharePoint has its own logging system called “Unified Logging System (ULS)“, we can use the ULS log to see if anything unexpected occurred, we can use the
ULSViewer for more convenient log viewing experience.
Or we can log information programmatically.
There are some logging classes can be used, such as
SPMonitoredScope ,  SPDiagnosticsService, or create your own “Diagnostics Service” – which is technically just a new class inherited
    from SPDiagnosticsServiceBase.
We can also utilize diagnostics.asmx web service for the client side applications.

  • SharePoint 2013 Pop-Up Dialog Boxes are Blank

    Hi all,
I'm having a weird issue where any "dialog" pop-up window appears completely blank, but has the word "Dialog" in the top left hand corner of the box. Or, I'll just get the "Working on it" message for a couple minutes, and the
box goes to a blank rectangle shape (no content whatsoever inside of it).
This applies to all lists or libraries that have the "Launch forms in a dialog" option to YES or any that use that behavior by default (i.e. calendar or doc library upload dialog).
Any idea what could be causing this?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Is the master page is customized. Please inspect using developer tool any css class preventing to appear. just a quick thought.
    Thanks!
    Hello!
In this case, the sites are using the default master page. However, one thing to note is these are sites that were migrated from a different SharePoint 2013 server farm. I'm not sure if that matters or not.

  • Sharepoint 2013 - WSS content LOG file very very big

    Hi there.
    Sharepoint 2013 with latest updates.
WSS CONTENT database size is cca 110GB, LOG FILE is 90GB.
Even if we did FULL backup of databes that does not decrease LOG file size.
Any hints how to lower the size of LOG data file?
    With best regards
    bostjanc

    Hi Bostjan,
I wonder whether the issue can be resolved by shrinking log file.
Shrinking data files recovers space by moving pages of data from the end of the file to unoccupied space closer to the front of the file. When enough free space is created at the end of the file, data pages at end of the file can deallocated and returned
    to the file system.
Here is the reference for Shrink a File in SQL 2012 for your convenience:
