Sharepoint 2013 Permission Management Tool

Hey,
I'm currently working for a small lab group that routinely fluctuates members. We are looking to create a new site collection with various unique permissions in the sub-sites. I was wondering if there is any third party application
that can quickly pull permissions from a database (excel or access document) and auto populate the permissions of the sites. If this can be done w/o a third party application, even better.
Additionally we would like some graphical depiction of what users have access to what sub sites and easily be able to change it. Any and all help will be extremely appreciated. Thanks!
Best,
Jordan

Hi Jordan,
SharePoint can give some reporting on the existing permissions, but there is no easy way to import any changes or templates permissions.  You would need to script the changes in PowerShell.
I did this for duplicating identical item level permission, so the solution worked well.  Everything was static save the site URL, so I did not use a dynamics excel sheet for the permissions.  I based the script on this from David Dean:
http://www.insource.com/sharing-with-sharepoint/
As far as 3rd party tools, this is a common use case and my firm has a tool which reports on current permissions and allows you to clone or import from excel (DocAve 6).  I have seen similar from other vendors.  It sounds to me this is type of
solution you will need, unless you can simplify the specific permissions requirements.
Hope that helps,

Hello guys,I recently tried to install the workflowmanager to the Application Server of my SharePoint 2013 Farm.I used the following commandline as suggested by spence harbar (in his article).SERVER -D:\SP\WorkflowManager\bin>WebpiCmd.exe /Install /Products:WorkflowManager /XML:D:\SP\WorkflowManager\feeds\latest\w

The wizard does not show up, instead of that, I got an message in my Commandbox:

Can anybody tell me what to do in this situation. I can´t uninstall the software because there is none.
I need help with this! There is no information in the community about this problem :/
    Greetings Andre

    Hi,
First of all that blog is old and now you should install Workflow Manager Refresh 1.0. To start fresh, uninstall all components of WF Manager from the server and then follow below mentioned steps.
Download Microsoft Web Platform Installer 5.0 on a machine where Internet is there.
Once Installed, go this path in command prompt C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Web Platform Installer and then use this command WebpiCmd.exe /offline /Products:WorkflowManagerRefresh /Path:C:\temp
Copy the temp folder to the WF Manager machine where you wish to install the WF Manager
In destination server, use command prompt with elevated privileges and navigate to the temp/bin directory (in copied folder).
    Use this command WebpiCmd.exe /Install /Products:ServiceBus_1_1 /XML:C:\temp\feeds\latest\webproductlist.xml
    Then run this command WebpiCmd.exe /Install /Products:WorkflowClient /XML:C:\temp\feeds\latest\webproductlist.xml
    Then run this command WebpiCmd.exe /Install /Products:WorkflowManagerRefresh /XML:C:\temp\feeds\latest\webproductlist.xml

    Hi Guys
im having issues with installing work flow manager.
this installation has gone ok, but when I'm in the configuration stage, and type in the SQL server instance, it returns with failure in connecting to SQL server.
this happens with SSL and with out SSL
I look forward to your responses
    Kindest regards
    Jack

Make sure that you have installed workflow manager updates on the server.
    Follow these two steps first:
    Add
WFSetup account (installer account) to SQL Server security group and give him
    SysAdmin permission.
Add WFSetup to Workflow server in machine
administrator group, so user can login as worklfow administrator.
Enter database machine name and test it.

I need to Uninstall Workflow manager, Reinstall and Redeploy my Workflows to the farm. is it the only solution to fix the issue. this will make already existing workflow break.

    Hi,
From the error message, this issue is about certificate. Please try to install the certificate of WFM server into SharePoint farm, compare the result.
And please re-register workflow service via
    it, compare the result.
In addition, please check the ULS log file to find more information about this issue. The path of the file is: C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\Web Server Extensions\15\LOGS.

  • Sharepoint 2013 + Request Management

    Hello,
I am trying to enable Request Management on all of our Web Servers but when I go to provision it, it does not appear on one of the servers
So when I run the following PowerShell
    get-spserviceinstance|?{$_.TypeName
    -eq"Request
    Management"}
    |selectServer|%{($_.Server.Name)}
I am missing one of my servers, how is that possible and how do I get it to appear so that I can provision it?
    Thanks
    Jason

Use Install-SPService to see if it properly provisions.

  • Exchange Management Tools? Hybrid Exchange 2010 SP3 - Exchange 2013 (Office 365 - Exchange Online)

When running in Hybrid mode... is there any advantage to installing the Exchange 2013 server management tools on my machine versus the Exchange 2010 management tools?
    Any advantages/disadvantages?
I still do have some on premises mailboxes that need to be migrated to the cloud (Exchange Online).
    Thoughts? Suggestions? Experiences?

    Hi Viva,
We don't have Exchange Management Console in Exchagne 2013 in all the web interface we used in Exchange server 2013. In Exchange 2010 we are having Exchange management console. Hence we can able to access exchange 2010 and 2013 both on the same server.

  • Sharepoint 2013 only supports SSRS 2008 or 2008 R2?

I have Installed SQL Server 2012 and then Installed sharepoint 2013.
When I go to the central administration under General Application Settings, at the very bottom I can see "SQL Server Reporting Services (2008 and 2008 R2)"
Does that mean it would not support SSRS 2012? I am having issues to get SSRS 2012 integration with SP2013.

So update is, I have removed
    Reporting Services - Native
    Reporting Services – SharePoint
Reporting Services add-in for SharePoint products.
    Management Tools
    and
Re-installed all of them on a separate instance for e.g. [NEWINSTANCE]
I can see Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services service" in Sharepoint Central Admin and it
    is "started".
Now when I try to "Add a report server to the Integration" Or if I try "Reporting Services Integration", I get following error.
Report Server WMI Provider error: Invalid namespace
    The Service URL is http://MYSERVER/ReportServer_NEWINSTANCE
Any Ideas? its been a week I am trying to work this out....
Do I really need Reporting services - Native parallel to Reporting Service - Sharepoint? if not then how would I configure Reporting Services - Sharepoint to get the Service URL etc?

  • Sharepoint 2007 Sharepoint Designer Workflow migrate to Sharepoint 2013

SharePoint 2007 sites migration to SharePoint 2013, in SP2007 I have several workflows created using SharePoint Designer. Is it possible to migrate those Workflows to SharePoint 2013? If so,  is SharePoint 2013 Workflow

  • Task Management Tool

    Hi All,
I use SharePoint 2013 Enterprise. I have multiple task list in the team site. I would need some tool from which I can do Task Management.
    Please do suggest me.
    Thank You

    Hi Alex,
According to your description, my understanding is that you need some task management tools to manage tasks in SharePoint 2013.
By default, you can use Outlook, Access or Project to manage tasks. There are some links, you can take a look at:
    http://www.sharepointanalysthq.com/2013/01/managing-tasks-using-project-server-2013/
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee748634(v=office.15).aspx
    http://blogs.office.com/2012/08/13/managing-tasks-in-sharepoint/
You can use  Task Aggregation feature:
    http://blogs.perficient.com/microsoft/2012/09/sharepoint-2013-task-management-in-my-sites/
Also, you can look for a third party tool to manage tasks, like ProperSync:

  • SharePoint 2013 Snippets usage advice and help

SharePoint 2013 Snippets usage advice and help
I am new to SharePoint Site development.  I am creating a simple public website to look similar to their old one.
I have created a masterpage that looks OK using the design manager, and also a page layout. I have got the website looking half OK.
I seem to have difficulties all the time when it comes to snippets - and finding specific help on how to use each individual one.
So the main question - where would you advise I go to get help?
    The current snippet issue is:
      > regarding to top navigation menu
      > I have inserted one into the masterpage - and got it working
      > However it will not let me do submenus when I go into Edit Links
      > But I then went to site settings and did the edit links from there
      > It let me there - but it's a different menu !! (I now have two)
      > I can't see this second menu from within the snippets - it defaults to one that does not allow sub menus
      > So how do I change the snippet to look at the menu I was able to edit
But more generally - when I get this kind of issue, where to I look for the solution?
    Thanks in anticipation

    Hi Mike,
Go through the links for SharePoint 2013 Snippets. It'll help you in a better way.

  • Sharepoint 2013 Publish ContentHub Error Metadata web service application proxy Metadata Service Application Proxy.

I'm trying to republish the content hub but getting mms errors. I checked the coorlation id but make no sense of it. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you failed to republish the content hub.
I recommend to execute the following PowerShell command to add all permissions needed:
    Initialize-SPResourceSecurity
In addition, you can create a new managed metadata service application and also a new application pool account to check whether it works.
