SharePoint 2013 Service Pack 1 broke Explorer View (WebDAV)?

We recently installed SharePoint 2013 Service Pack 1 and have since been troubled by Explorer View. Very often Explorer View doesn't work. This error often appears:
"We're having a problem opening this location in File Explorer. Add this web site to your Trusted Sites list and try again."
The weird thing is that sometimes the Explorer View works just fine, but more often it doesn't. There's are a lot of blogs / topics about this on the internet, but they all didn't help resolve this issue. We use persistent cookies for our STS (AllowSessionCookies
== false), we've added the site to Trusted Sites, made sure WebClient service is running on the clients, cleared cookie caches, etc., etc.
Explorer View works fine when we connect to Office 365 instances. But our local farm has these problems. We use ADFS auth.
Our problems actually resemble the problems this guy had:
http://blog.skadefro.dk/2011/09/sharepoint-2010-and-webdav.html
But his fix doesn't seem to apply to us.
This all started after installing Service Pack 1, so could this be a Service Pack 1 issue?

Hi LZandman,
There is a KB article, it provides that:
Issue 2
Assume that you access the date in a SharePoint Document Library. Then, you click Open with Explorer View when you view a SharePoint Document Library in Internet Explorer 10. In this situation, the operation fails, and you receive one of the following error
messages.
Error message 2
We're having a problem opening this location in File Explorer. Add this web site to your Trusted Sites list and try again.
Notes
These issues occur only when the SharePoint server is configured for cookie-based authentication, such as SharePoint Online.
You may encounter a similar issue when you use other Web Distributed Authoring and Versioning (WebDAV) servers that are configured for cookie-based authentication.
Please take a look at :
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2846960/en-us , and download and install the hotfix, compare the result.
I hope this helps.
Thanks,
Wendy

  • Exchange Server 2013 Service Pack Upgrade - Outlook connectivity issue

    Hi,
After upgrading to Exchange Server 2013 service pack 1, we are unable to connect via Outlook 2010 or Outlook 2013. Outlook Web Access is working fine though. We have followed all the instructions, and have applied Outlook upgrades, but the issue remain the
same. Outlook was working fine before the upgrade.
Have we missed out something. I would highly appreciate if someone can help out? I'm not sure if this is the known issue as I can't seem to find anything on the internet.
    Already applied the transport fix.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
According to your description, your Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013 come across the connectivity issue.
To narrow down the issue, I’d like to recommend the following troubleshooting:
    1. Check if the issue happens on all Outlook users
    2. Check the Outlook Anywhere connectivity by using ExRCA:
    https://testconnectivity.microsoft.com/
Additionally, MAPI over HTTP is only supported when you use Outlook 2013 sp1 and Exchange 2013 sp1 at the same time. Since the issue also happens on Outlook 2010 client, we can firstly try the above troubleshooting.
If you have any question , please feel free to let me know.
    Thanks,

  • Cannot download Office 2013 Service Pack 1 (KB2850036)

I'm using SCCM 2012 Config Manager.  I've created a software update date for Office 2013 - Service Pack 1.  It contains only 1 update, and that's the Office 2013 SP1 (KB2850036).
The standalone installer for this KB is around 640MB, according to the following link.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2817430/en-us
When I choose to Download this update with SCCM, it starts the normal "Provisioning Update" process but sits at 0%.   The deployment package directory grows to 334 folders, 329 files taking 3,707,522,416 bytes on the hard drive, and then eventually
throws the following error in SCCM.
Error:  Service pack 1 for Microsoft Office 2013 (KB2850036) 32-Bit Edition.   Failed to download content id 16844655.  Invalid certificate signature.
I've tried the download a couple of times, and I get the same thing.
    Any suggestions?

WSUS does not use the stand-alone installer for any updates. For this update in specific, because I had a battle with it, there are something like 700 different files that are part of the update and something like 800GB of data - those are ballpark numbers
based on my spotty memory; IOW, lots. Your best bet is just to right-click on the update itself and select download again.
If that still doesn't work at all, you can click on the update and go to the content tab, you'll see all of the files listed. You can individually copy the URLs (using Ctrl+C) and download them manually if there are one or two that won't download.

  • Office 2013 Service Pack 1 installation causes shim error in Windows 8.1 Enterprise

On a clean install of Windows 8.1 Enterprise and Office 2013 I installed RSAT and everything works fine initially.  When I install the Office 2013 Server Pack 1 update (categorized as an "Important" update) I then get the following
errors when attempting to open Server Manager:
(I attempted to include an image of the error and a link to the KB article but it wouldn't allow that saying my account must be verified although there appears to be no way to actually verify my account.  The "Verify Your Account 13" thread
    doesn't help by the way.)
ServerManager.exe - This application could not be started.  Do you want to view information about the issue?
Which if I click Yes it takes me to the page for this KB article:
    KB2715633
The KB page refers to three different SHIM errors.  The second two don’t apply to this scenario but the first seems to.  Unfortunately the info on this one is:
“The app is not configured in a way that makes it possible to determine the appropriate version of the .NET Framework runtime.
You can't fix the configuration problem yourself. Contact the app vendor to resolve the issue.”
I've re-installed Windows twice and have been able to replicate the problem each time (Clean Win 8.1 install, Office 2013 install, RSAT, everything works, install Office 2013 SP1).
It says in the KB to "Contact the app vendor".  In this case that would be Microsoft.

    1. What is you install W 8.1 ENT + all important updates -> Office 2013 > Office 2013 SP1 > RSAT ?
    2. Make sure that .NET 3.51 and 4.51 are installed.
    3. Make sure that there is no coincidence with issues

  • Toggle Visio layers visibility in SharePoint 2013 services

    Hi,
We have a Visio diagram representing system topology. Systems are mapped to different processes that can be visualized  with Active X control buttons and some VB to toggle layers visibility. Works great in Visio.
    Doesn't work in SharePoint.
I am posting that to Sharepoint 2013 but I am loosing the functionality.
Is it possible to achieve that with this approach?
If this is not supported is there another approach?

    Hi Mike,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want the hyperlink of visio service to open in the same windows tab.
I create a rectangle with hyperlink  in a Visio document and  set the NewWindow property of the hyperlink to false using VB coding as below:
    Public Sub NewWindow_Example()
      Dim vsoHyperlink As Visio.Hyperlink
      Set vsoHyperlink = ActivePage.DrawRectangle(0,0,5,5).AddHyperlink
      vsoHyperlink.Address = "http://www.microsoft.com/"
      vsoHyperlink.NewWindow = False
    End Sub
However, this hyperlink opens in new tab in my SharePoint 2013 as your scenario. It is by default that SharePoint 2013 Visio Service deals with  the hyperlink of Visio document. There seams to be no approach that Microsoft Visio keep the same location
when it follows a hyperlink to open a Web page.

  • Sharepoint 2013 Service accounts

    Hi,
My current client has SharePoint 2010 and 2013, for all the web application and service application they have been using only one account, which is think is not suggested by Microsoft (correct me if i am wrong)
i agree that each admin have their own point of view, but will the below explanation suffice and can this be suggested to the client and suggest them to use dedicated applications pools for different web applications.
As all the web-application pools are running under the same account there is a possibility that the account might get locked due to which the other site collection, which are running under the same application pool ID,  will also be getting the error
message "Service unavailable" by maintaining different application pools, other web applications/site collections will not be effected.
    Please advise.
    Satyam.

The accidental locking of an account is probably the LAST concern, since that suggests that lockout policies are effectively blocking attackers.
The primary concerns focus around the permissions granted to the accounts, and how they're used... this is why different architectures and environments will have different service account use/reuse/isolation requirements.

The reason for that behavior was TrendMicro ScanMail for Exchange 11. Seems that it was unable to work with the new SP properly and prevented the entire Transport Service from starting. Uninstallation of the antivirus eliminated the issue.

Actually, you can just disable the agents until TrendMicro releases a patch and then enable them again:

BTW, a similar problem (high CPU utilization and services not starting) is hitting the AVG package:

  • Cannot install SharePoint 2013 with SP1 on server 2012 R2. IIS configuration error

    Hey Guys,
I'm experiencing a problem which seems to be common considering the number of posts I've found about it, but none of the provided solutions worked for me.
I'm simply trying to install SharePoint 2013 with SP1 on a Windows Server Standard 2012 R2.
I've downloaded from the MS Volume Licensing website the "SharePoint Server 2013 with SP1" ISO file :  SW_DVD5_SharePoint_Server_2013w_SP1_64Bit_English_MLF_X19-36118. So
this is the slipstreamed version which is supposed to bring compatibility with 2012 R2.
As I do not have direct access to the Internet I need to perform an offline installation. I also downloaded all prerequisities. When I run prerequisiteinstaller.exe with the necessary arguments, I get the following :
    (Full log file is below)
    I've tried the following :
    - Restarted the server multiple times
    - Manually removing/adding IIS role + restart
    - Running the prerequisiteinstaller.exe from the DVD or from an extracted version
    - Manually installing the prerequisities
    - Installed .Net 3.5 as recommended here (http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/0b597d35-b02d-4236-894d-38efc0c7c6f6/sharepoint-2013-with-sp1-install-on-windows-server-2012-r2?forum=sharepointgeneral)
None of the worked. So I'm stuck and I must completed the installation of this before the end of the week for an important project !
Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you guys for the quick answer! Muche appreciated
I've tried all suggested solutions, but no luck :-(
    - tried http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2765260 > no help and by the way the hotfix provided is not applicable for 2012 R2.
also tried "C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319\aspnet_regii -enable -i" and got this :
Microsoft (R) ASP.NET RegIIS version 4.0.30319.33440Administration utility to install and uninstall ASP.NET on the local machine.Copyright (C) Microsoft Corporation.  All rights reserved.Start installing ASP.NET (4.0.30319.33440).This option is not supported on this version of the operating system.  Administrators should instead install/uninstall ASP.NET 4.5 with IIS8 using the "Turn Windows Features On/Off" dialog,  the Server Manager management tool, or the dism.exe command line tool.  For more details please see http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=216771.Finished installing ASP.NET (4.0.30319.33440).

For the automated install script (http://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/office/DownloadInstall-SharePoint-e6df9eb8) Craig mentions that the script are not yet compatible
"SharePoint 2013 SP1 and Windows Server 2012 R2 support coming soon
I will be updating this script with support for SharePoint 2013 Service Pack 1 installations along with support for Windows Server 2012 R2 in the near future. Thank you to everyone for the interest in my scripts - it is much appreciated! "

  • Installation of SP1 for SharePoint 2013

After Installation of SP1 for SharePoint 2013,I see a new button Office 365 but when I click on it I can't go in anymore. So,Is that what i need to look to go in and work?
is we required to connect to Internet?

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that after Installation of SP1 for SharePoint 2013, you saw a new button Office 365.
As part of the SharePoint 2013 Service Pack 1, Microsoft has starting to provide some way to implement a sort of hybrid mode – as we can already have with Exchange – with Office 365.
A new link/option shown in the Quick Launch menu on the left or in the Central Administration home page.
After clicking the Office 365, the two links provide you a way to configure a first level integration with your Office 365 to use Yammer (as this now included on Office 365 Enterprise plans) or OneDrive for Business on Office 365.
For more information, you can refer to:
