SharePoint Blog Site- Post and Comments

Hi,
How can we display for One post top 5 comments in Blog Home Page?
Ex: On Blog Home page have like below
Post 1
(1)Comments
Post 2
(2)Comments
Post3
Comments
Here, I want display All comments in this page only, instead of opening the particular post to see the comments.
Could you please help here
DVGR, SharePoint Developer

Hello DVGR,
Are all the items in a single site collection? If so my first thought is to use a content by query web part. In this blogpost they have done the same thing but for the posts content type instead of the comments content type:
http://erikswenson.blogspot.nl/2010/03/sharepoint-2010-content-query-for-blog.html
Otherwise if it is across site collections I would use search.
Hope this helps

  • Fectching posts and comments from Facebook

    Hello All,
I found a step by step guide to connect to twitter from OEID by the below document
    http://www.oracle.com/webfolder/technetwork/tutorials/tutorial/Endeca%20Information%20Discovery/OAuth_Twitter.html
Is there any guide similar to above to connect to Facebook, to fetch post and comments?
It will be helpful if any one who has done the above connectivity to Facebook from integrator share the steps .

We too are looking for a way to import wordpress content into the apple blogs. I've found some WP to blojsam import utilities, but not sure if these would work... or if the apple blogs have any relationship to blojsam anymore.
Any pointers would be appreciated (mysql table info etc.. ?)

  • Add scrollbars to OOB SharePoint Blog site

    All:
I created an OOB SharePoint 2013 Blog site used for news updates.  The problem is that on smaller device form factors (e.g. tablets) or when I shrink browser window on the desktop, no horizontal or vertical scrollbars are visible.  My users
cannot read or access the blog post info (especially on the right hand side).
How can I enable scrollbars in an OOB Blog site so that viewers can access all of the content?
    Thanks,

    Hi,
According to your description, when you shrink the browser window or using a tablet, the scrollbars don’t appear.
Is this issue only occur to Blog site but the other site templates?
What version of the browser do you use?
It would be better if you can provide more details about your browser or if there any customization has been made on your Blog site.
Feel free to reply if there any progress.
    Thanks

  • Trackback Posts and comment removals

I have a simple web log tool setup using 10.4.7 on my school network and public website. The problem I have is that all sorts of spam and **** sites end up leaving trackback links and adds that I can't remove without removing the whole discussion thread.
1-How can I keep these offensive trackbacks from showing up to being with?
2-How do I remove individual comments/trackbacks instead of removing the entire thread?

    Randall,
Our school just today found two blogs with pr0n infested trackbacks. The only thing that I was able to do was to manually delete the trackbacks from /Library/Application Support/Weblogs/username/.trackbacks/blogentry and then I enabled the admin console as described here:
    http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20060407155752996
Next I turned off trackbacks. This stops the spam, but now no trackbacks. I'm looking for someone to hopefully tell me how to turn off ALL trackbacks to ALL blogs before any more of our 1000+ user's blogs get attacked with pr0n spam.
    Thank you in advance.
    Chris
P.S. I had to type pr0n. It seems Apple edits out the word p0r|\|

  • Issue in Custom Blog site definition based on SharePoint 2010 blog site definition after migrating the sites to SharePoint 2013 and site collection upgrade

I have created a custom blog site definition using SharePoint 2010 blog site definition with Configuration ID 31 in onet.xml (new value). This was working fine for SharePoint 2010.
We created new SharePoint 2013 farm and deployed the all Custom solutions in
14/15 folders. After migrating the sites to SharePoint 2013 using Content DB approach, site created previously using my custom definition are working fine.
But after running site collection upgrade these sites stop working. When I post a comment then comments not getting listed on post detail page. However comments are getting added to Comments List but
PostTitle column  of Comment is not getting populated.
Also, when we create a new site in SharePoint 2013 using my custom blog template then that is also not getting provisioned.  default.aspx and look-up between post and comment list are not working.
If any one has faced such issue then please share your findings and any solution to fix this.
    Thanks in Advance :)

    Hi ,
According to your description, my understanding is that the blog based on custom blog site definition didn’t work correctly after migrating custom blog site definition to SharePoint 2013.
If you customized the Onet.xml file in a previous version's site definition, you should modify some sections in the file to work in the current version, like  <BaseTypes> and  <ListTemplate>  etc. More information, please refer
    to the link below:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/aa543837(v=office.14).aspx
For that the PostTitle column  of Comment is not getting populated, please try to modify the view, then compare the result.
    I hope this helps.

  • Blog Site - Give View Only Users ability to create a post.

I am created a blog site which should function much like this site.  Where a user is logged in, can read the blog posts, create their ownpost but that is all they are allowed to do.  I'm trying to take away manage posts, manage comments, manage
categories functionality.  I have tried creating my own permission level however it does not seem to get as granular as I need (they could add their post, their comments and categories), I have tried creating a new blog post page but it picked up on the
same permissions.  I also tried creating a link to newpost.aspx and it was still blocked.  Any idea how to have a blog membership group have view and add post and comments only?
Thank you in advance for your help!

Answered my own question while I was writing this.  I stopped inheriting permissions on the categories list and set the group to read only.

  • When I'm on Facebook and I'm typing a post or comment, words seems to pop into my sentences that I did not type. Also certain words that I type ( ex: say I type the word begin, there will be the letter z in front of the letter b ).

When I be on Facebook I always have a problem with my posting and comments. There is a tendency that when I'm typing two or three other words will pop into the sentence that I did not type. Also when there are words beginning with the letters I use for a word, the letter z pops in as the first ether. I experienced this problem with my original IPad and the same is going on with the replacement. Can someone here in the community tell me what is going on . It's driving me crazy. I. • SharePoint Blog - Restrict to a Single Category

Hi - we're using SharePoint 2013 Blogs to implement a news site. However, we'd like the users to be restricted to only selecting a single category of post.
Can anyone advise on the easiest method to achieve this?
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi Simon,
Category field can't seem to be modified/configured to only select a single value OOTB from SharePoint 2013 Blog site Posts list, however we can use JQuery to disable the "Add" button when we selected one category value for new
item from NewPost.aspx and EditPost.aspx for the Posts list.
Please go to Posts list then click "Default New From" for editing the NewPost.aspx page then add a"Content Editor" webpart (or "Script Editor" webpart), then paste the following code without any modification, and then save
the webpart and page, then it will work (and repeat for "Default Edit Form" for EditPost.aspx).
If there is any unclear, please feel free to post.
    <script src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.9.1/jquery.min.js"></script><script type="text/javascript">

    $button = $("#PostCategory_38bea83b-350a-1a6e-f34a-93a6af31338b_AddButton");

  • SharePoint 2013 Blog Site or Discussion LIst - Comment on a Comment

    Hi,
Quick question.  Is anyone aware of a plug-in or feature or new blog add-in for SP 2013 that allows "comments on comments".   From what I can tell in the blog site and discussion list, you can only comment on the original comment.
You cannot comment on someone else's comment as in a tiered fashion.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!
    Thanks! Patti N.

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you want to be able to comment on someone else’s comments displayed in a hierarchical structure.
In SharePoint 2013, it’s by default that the Discussion Board list’s replies are in the “Flat” view, and it won’t display the replies in a hierarchical structure.
However, the Discussion Board list have another default view is the “Threaded” view, and it can display replies in a hierarchical structure.
Therefore, I recommend that you can directly modify the default view of the Discussion Board list’s replies to the “Threaded” view to achieve your requirement.
For SharePoint 2013 Blog site, as a workaround, I suggest that you also can create a Discussion Board list into it to implement this function.
    Best Regards,
    Yumi Fu

  • Can't post comments to Blog site

Since .Mac switched to Me.com, I cannot see comments on my blog site.
I can post/publish to the site from iWeb and others have said they can post comments (using Firefox, but not Safari). But when I go to view the comments, I get an error message:
    # Exception: TypeError
    # Message : Value undefined (result of expression postLinks.forEach) is not object.
    # File : Comments.js, Line:138
I have not done anything differently in how I'm publishing the page.
I am using Safari 3.1.2 to view the site.
I am using iWeb '08 2.0.4 to publish the site.
I have also tried to use Firefox (3.0.1) to see the comments, and get this error message:
    # Exception: TypeError
    # Message : postLinks.forEach is not a function
I can see the comments if I open iWeb and read down the page. I cannot post comments using iWeb though.
    Any ideas?

Danielle ~ See this old thread:

  • My challenge: recovering original iWeb files from 2010-2011 timeframe, which included a blog consisting of original postings from me and comments posted to the web from family and friends. I have the web archive files - but did not move iWeb files then.

Background:  I started this blog while living overseas and going to sea with the Navy.  Missed the opportunity to move the iWeb files with content attached from the mobile.me server to another server.  Now, I have the original web archive files - good - but not the comments added to them by family and friends - bad.
My ultimate objective is to create a hard-cover bound book of these files with the comments on the blog ... they document a rather significant experience in my family's life ... to do this, I need to recover the original files with postings.
Any thoughts or insight would be sincerely appreciated!
    Thanks, cfwnavy

You have replied to a post that is a month old now and the OP has never replied, so you are probably wasting your time here.
If you read the OP's post and my reply, you will see that he will not be able to recover his blog and neither will you.
If your Mac was stolen and you did not back up your iWeb domain.sites files, then you CANNOT get your blog back.
If you published your site to a host/server, then you can download it back onto your Mac and you will have to re-build your blog/website from scratch and re-publish, but all your replies and responses to posts will be lost and you can never get these back.
My advice would be to re-create your blog in another format such as WordPress.com which is free and don't use iWeb again.
There are plenty of alternatives out there.

  • Limiting Body size post list in SharePoint 2013 blog site

    Hi,
I want to fix the length of the body content in the post list in blog site in SharePoint 2013.
And also i want to set the limit to show number of blog in the home page.
    Please help.
    Thank you!

    Open page in SharePoint Designer.
When the default.aspx page is opened we can see that the web part is actually a XlstListViewWebPart. Taking a look at the XML Definition we can see that there is a field called RowLimit:

  • SharePoint 2013 Blog Site Comments permissions

    Hello,
Have researched this and all articles I can find so far give identical advice.
Blog site (subsite of root SiteCollection) is populated by a manager of the company. He wants everyone to see it (default "Visitors") and leave a Comment (default "Members").
I have customized List permissions for Comments as Visitors, broken inherited perms with parents to be sure the List perms are specific to Visitors of the List, and Visitors -- expectedly -- cannot post a Comment or see other Blog admin links (Add Post,
    Manage Comments etc).
When adding everyone to the Members group, then customizing under Advanced Settings so they can only edit their OWN content, the users can naturally post Comments. But as Members, they are still allowed to Manage posts, Comments,
    etc. Too many perms.
    Visitor perms = insufficient
Customized "Members" perms = too much granted.
Need to constrain perm traits to posting/editing own Comments and nothing more except Read.
Despite List perm customization, and Advanced Settings customization, this Member perm still grants waayyyyyyy too many perms. I simply cannot permit every user to create posts, manage comments, etc.
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you want to customize the permission in the blog site.
It is recommend customize your own permission level for this scenario.
What’s more, to enable users can only edit their own items, we can set the item level permission in the post list advance settings.

  • Sharepoint Blog Post & Comments Export

I have a blog with some posts and each post having some comments. I am moving the post & Comment list from the site to a  subsite using Content & Structure.
The Post & Comment lists are moved successfully but in the subsite it shows 0 comments for all the posts. In other words the comment list has been moved but it has lost its link to the Post list.
Can you please suggest how to rectify this

    Got the Solution...
When You move the Comment list to the Subsite, the Title Post Column becomes Null, this is the column which actually conencts both the post & the comment list.
Solution : Open the comment list in Edit Datasheet view Change the Post Title Column for all the comments. It will be a drop down populated based on the Post title Just Select and Save the sheet and now check the Bog all the comments will be linked to the
    post.

  • Issue with AjaxControlToolkit for SharePoint 2013 Blog site template.

    Hi,
Please find below the details of issue -
History - We are working with SharePoint 2013 and we are using AjaxControlToolkit in our project. Basically this is a migration project from MOSS to SharePoint 2013. So we have migrated code MOSS to SharePoint 2013. Previously in MOSS project, AjaxControlToolkit
was used so after migrating we have also used AjaxControlToolkit with updated version which can work in SharePoint 2013. This is working fine now.
Scenario - There is one web application in SharePoint 2013 farm. Under this web application there are two site collections. One site collection is created with Team site template and second site collection is created with Blog site template.
There are three feature in our wsp that we have created. One feature is at web application scope (which will do web.config modifications and it will add below entry in web.config file through SPWebConfigModification in section 'configuration/system.web/compilation/assemblies'
     <add assembly="AjaxcontrolToolkit, Version=4.5.7.725, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=28f01b0e84b6d53e" />
). And there are two site collection features.
Now when we deploy our solution (wsp) to web application in SharePoint 2013 farm and activate the Web.Config modification feature which is at web application level, it has added above mentioned entry in web.config file.
Our application in first site collection is working fine which we are expecting but in the second site collection which is created using out of box Blog site template, 'comment box' and Post button are invisible as shown in below screen shot -
If we remove below entry from web.config file -
    <add assembly="AjaxcontrolToolkit, Version=4.5.7.725, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=28f01b0e84b6d53e" />
and refresh the Blog site page then the Comment box and Post button is appearing again as shown in below screen shot -
We also tried with updated versions of AjaxControlToolkit (Version=4.5.7.1005 & 4.5.7.1213) but no success.
I will highly appreciate if you could help me in this.
    Thanks for your time.
