Sharepoint calendar permissions in outlook

I have unique permissions set up in sharepoint so that only attendees can view/edit them.  The next step is to have this same behaviour when the calendar is synced with outlook.  Is there a way to do this?

Hi Patrick,
If the Calendar has a unique permission which only attendees can view/edit Calendar events, they can directly click "Connect to Outlook" button to connect the Calendar list to their Outlook, the same permission will be retained in Outlook.

  • Event created for SharePoint Calendar opened in Outlook, not showing in SP

I have a SharePoint 2013 Enterprise calendar list that I have "open in outlook"
In Outlook 2013, in the opened SharePoint calendar, I create a few events.   None of them show up in the SharePoint list , they only remain visible in my Outlook Calendar. I had users report this problem to me when we were still using SharePoint
2007, I had hope this error had been fixed... but I shouldn't be surprised to see that it's still happening.
How can this be fixed? I have users who are depending upon this SharePoint calendar to be accurate. I have no way of knowing that evetns created in Outlook are failing to show in SharePoint.  Help please

    Hi Vince,
According to your description, my understanding is that the event made in Outlook don’t sync to SharePoint site’s calendar.
Please try to use the ScanPST program to repaire the SharePoint PST file, compare the result.
More information, please refer to the link:

    I hope this helps.

  • 0x80040102 - Outlook 2010 - Sharepoint calendar error in Outlook 2010

Having read through all the articles there is no definitive answer for this problem.
Error: Task 'SharePoint' reported error (0x80040102) : 'Outlook cannot connect to the SharePoint List (<calendar-name>). The server may not be reachable from your location. Contact the SharePoint site administrator for more information.  HTTP
    0.'
Outlook 2010 running on XP and W7
    SBS 2012 on server
Everyone running Outlook 2007 or below is absolutely fine. Both internally and externally.
I would be very grateful if someone could either:
    1) Provide a resolution to this error.  All articles i am reading, even ones assigned as solutions, provide no insight as to the root cause and a clear resolution.
    2) Admit to an issue within Outlook 2010 and advise on possibility of future solution.
I look forward to any insight on this.  Let's be careful out there ;-)

    Hi,
According to your narration, first, please make sure this client can resolve the AAM name of the SharePoint server, in addition, make sure the user has enough permission on the list.
You can use fiddler and netmon together to trace this issue.
Finally, check out the following thread which may help you:

  • Set Exchange 2013 calendar permissions with Outlook 2007

    Hi,
I have a new install of Exchange 2013 with ~30 Win 7, Office 2007 clients. Setting permissions on calendars doesn't work properly from Outlook 2007 (a known MS issue). Does anyone know if there is a fix or work around to assign permissions to the calendar?
i.e. where you right click the Calendar folder and set different levels of permission. There is a 'permission' option in OWA but this doesnt appear to work for calendars.
I have tried Outlook 2013 and that works ok.  Is there alternate way to save having to move to Outlook 2013?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
The above issue occurs because of a limitation in how Exchange Server 2013 set Free/Busy permissions. The workaround is to use OWA to set up calendar permissions.
Here is a helpful article about setting up calendar permissions in OWA for your reference.

  • Is it possible to transfer the data from a SharePoint 2013 calendar entry to Outlook 2010 calendar entry?

    Hi,
I've managed to Sync my SharePoint Calendar with my Outlook. At the moment it only transfers through the Title and Location of my calendar entry.
Is it possible to transfer the description as per the SharePoint entry so it shows up in Outlook?
    Thanks

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you not seen the description of the calendar item synced with the outlook.
I had tested with the issue, the description could sync with outlook.
I created some items in the calendar, clicked the “Connect to Outlook” control, the items synced with the outlook including the description of the items.
Did the issue occur in other calendars? You can create a new calendar with some items, the check whether it works.
You can also check the event log and ULS log to see if anything unexpected occurred.
To check event log, click the Start button and type “Event Viewer”in the Search box.
For SharePoint 2013, by default, ULS log is at
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\15\LOGS
You can check the ULS log by the methods here:

  • Meeting request in SharePoint calendar from Outlook 2010

    Hi,
I've connected a SharePoint calendar to my Outlook 2010 client and wish to manage this calendar from within Outlook 2010 itself. When I try to request a new meeting in this calendar from Outlook, I am able to do everything as normal, but when the meeting
request is synchronised, it comes up with the following error:
I can see the item in the Local Failures folder but it does get sync'd soon after and appears in the SharePoint calendar list on the SharePoint site itself. However, when viewing the item in Outlook, it is an appointment, not a meeting.
I've seen this article - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/926440. Does this mean you can't create meeting requests in SharePoint calendars?
Can anyone shed some light on what is possible and what isn't? I don't want to have to create a meeting workspace for every meeting required.
    Many thanks

OK, thanks for clearing that up.

  • How to create appointments in a Sharepoint calendar as a Sharepoint-User using Powershell?

    Hi,
I want to create new entries in the Sharepoint calendar of our team.
Background: We get many mails about patch rollouts on our Windows servers, with reboots and so on. Every team member should have quick access to all these schedules so I would like to add them into our Sharepoint calendar.
Important: I have no admin rights on Sharepoint, I cannot log on to an SP server, I'm acting just as a normal user (when searching the internet, the tipps are based on "execute this on the Sharepoint server" :( ).
I see 2 options, both are fine for me:
    (1) If I could get a Powershell snap-in/provider for Sharepoint, I could maybe utilize Sharepoint-Cmdlets.
BUT: I didnt find any hint how to get the snap-in or provider.
    (2) I can connect the Sharepoint calendar with my Outlook and then try to create the appointments via Outlook.
BUT: I didnt find any hint how to connect to this connected calendar. All the internet hits are using the default Outlook calendar.
Can anyone tell me how to do it, please?
    Thanks.
    Walter

Where is the Calendar hosted at the moment?   If it's within SharePoint, there is a "Connect to Outlook" button, which will export the calendar as a shared calendar to your Outlook instance.  I'm never tried the reverse, so if you're using
a shared calendar, you may need to consider moving it.  When they are linked, they'll be a two way synch (updates from one end will push to the other).  On top of this, you and your team will be able to set-up differnet alerts.
Additionally, within the product you can create an overlay, calendar, which allows you to merge different calendars.  Each source calendar can have a different colour picked for it.
In regards to running PS scripts as an end-user, not much if anything can be done here.  All I can think of is adding a codeplex workflow extension, work that into a workflow and then plug a script into that.  Your IT guys might not let that fly.
    Hope that helps

  • Disabling adding events to SharePoint calendar from outlook

basically we have required fields in the SharePoint calendar that I created, and its great to have that calendar linked to other peoples outlooks. The problem comes when people add events from outlook because then they don't have to fill in the required
fields to add events. I want to make it where they can still see all events on their outlooks they just can't add anything from outlook and only from SharePoint so that they have to fill in all the required fields.

Hmm. That's tough because I don't think you'd be able to stop them from adding in Outlook unless you customized Outlook client or removed permissions. If you remove permissions, then they can't add through browser either. The only thing I can think of
is having two calendars: one users put events into and one they connect to outlook. When a new event is added to the first calendar, then a workflow fires and adds it to the second. The second calendar then has read only permissions.

  • Issue with Copy of events from Outlook Calendar to SharePoint 2010 calendar(mapped in outlook)

There is a issue while copying events in Outlook mapped SharePoint 2010 Calendar.
This issue only seems to happen when user copies an event from his Outlook calendar to the SharePoint 2010 calendar.
He is able to create a new event in the SharePoint calendar from Outlook.
He tried below steps, but still no success
    1.
    Open your Outlook calendar.
    2. Open the event you want to copy.
    3. From the File menu, select Info.
    4. Click the Move to Folder button.
    5. In the Copy Items To dialog box, scroll down to the SharePoint Lists item and select the SharePoint calendar to which you want to copy the event.
    6. Click the OK button.
    7. Click the Yes button when prompted to continue.
Please let me know if there is any possible solution for it.

    Hi,
I have done a test as your steps. I am able to copy an event from my Outlook calendar to the SharePoint 2010 calendar.
    1. I suggest you test in another compute, perhaps your Outlook results to that issue.
    2. Please create a new site collection, then test again, compare the result.
    3. Maybe it will take some time before the copied event displays in the SharePoint 2010 calendar. So, wait a minute, compare the result.

  • Outlook Sync Error with Recurring Meetings on SharePoint Calendar

We have a SharePoint (Foundation 2010) calendar that users also connect to Outlook (2010/2013). We are experiencing a problem with emailing recurring meeting requests to the SharePoint calendar; the item is received and populated properly on the SP calendar
but Outlook fails to sync the item.
The Outlook client then displays a send/receive error: [ Task 'SharePoint' reported error (0x80004005) : 'Failed to copy one or more items. For details, see the log file.'
] The error in the log file reads: "Error mapping item #140"
This issue only occurs when recurring meeting requests are emailed to the SP calendar list. Recurring meetings sync properly with Outlook when the meeting is created directly on the SP site and when created directly on the calendar view within Outlook.
I will appreciate any insight to this matter.
    Thanks,
    Josh

    Hi,
This issue may occur if Outlook cannot connect to the Sharepoint List so that
Outlook changes cannot sync to the Sharepoint. Please try the following steps and check if it helps:
    1. This error message could be caused that the PC with the Outlook installation couldn´t access the CRL from the HTTPS certificated used on the SharePoint server. To check that open the sharepoint Web site, and check the SSL certificate. There is an entry
for the CRL. Now check from the affected PC if the CRL could be accessed.
    2. Check AAM configuration and we can try to browse the URL
http://intranet ; then we can recreate the connection to Sharepoint in Outlook, try to sync it and then check the result

  • Outlook 2007 Calendar Permissions

    Hello
Ever since changing from exchange 2010 to exchange 2013 all of our users have issues with giving permissions and sharing their calendars.
We have realized that when giving/doing the permissions on outlook 2010 it works. When doing this on 2007 errors and given permissions are not working/sticking/staying.
Is there something that i am missiong? Or is it simple case of 2007 being too old to work properly with exchange 2013?

  • Outlook Calendar Permissions

We recently migrated from Lotus Notes to Exchange/Outlook 2013. A few users are having issues with calendar permissions. When a user goes to Calendar Permissions, clicks on the Permissions tab and clicks Add..., the Add Users windows comes up but all the
users and groups have an icon of a red circle with a line through it. When you double click on a user and click OK, a message pops up saying 'One or more users cannot be added to the folder access list.  Non-local users cannot be given rights on this
    server.'

I'm adding individual users.  I had seen that thread before, but what doesn't make sense to me is why I installed Outlook on my laptop and opened my mailbox and there were no issues with permissions on the laptop.
I just read this again and I want to make sure I am interpreting this correctly... You installed Outlook on your laptop, connected it your mailbox and you were able to add permissions to you wanted to add on the laptop?
If that's the case, can you move one of the affected users to online mode and try to add the permissions. If you can add permissions sounds like the .ost file might have some play here.  Then I would try creating a new profle and see if you have the
    same issue.
If that's not the case, then I would follow the steps in the forum post and make sure the user accounts are all "user mailboxes" and not shared mailboxes.

  • Push Sharepoint Calendar to Outlook users

I have created a Calendar in Sharepoint 2010 that I would like all users in my organization to have viewable in their outlook application on laptops/desktops/etc.
Is there a way for me to have it connect automatically via a push option, or in group policy, or something... anything?
From my research there is no way to do that, but I was hoping somebody had some neat workarounds or something that I could deploy on my network in order to achieve this.

There are no such OOTB method to push the things. But you can check the below post which use some kind of coding to achieve it.

  • Recieving error when trying to sync SharePoint Calendar to Outlook

My Organization is using SharePoint 2007 and I am recieving the following error.
Task 'SharePoint' reported error (0x00004005): ' An error occured in this SharePoint List (My Site - Personal Documents). Try updating the folder again. If the problem continues, contact the SharePoint site administrator.  HTTP 500. The server returned
the following error message: Exception of type 'Microsoft.SharePoint.SoapServer.SoapServer Exception' was thrown. An error occurred connecting to http:<sitename>. A connection to http:<sitename>, an alternate web address for this SharePoint site
    will be attempted.'
Can anyone help me with this one?

I am on SharePoint 2010 SP2 Enterprise Edition September 2013 CU and I too have the same type of issue. I found that "My Site" is the name of the site, and "Personal Documents" is the name of the List / Document Library. The space - space
    is put in automatically by Microsoft Office Outlook Professional Plus 2010 SP2 {14.0.7143.5000 (32-bit)}
I tried to delete the list, close out of Outlook for a few minutes and go back in and add the list, and the same error occurred.
I deleted, in File, Account Settings -
Data Files - SharePoint Lists and restarted Outlook, no good.  Error occurred after I started and did a Send / Receive.
I went to SharePoint Lists tab, and deleted the item.  Should have done this FIRST as all Contacts, Tasks, Calendars were deleted with Data Files (1) SharePoint Lists being deleted.
Close out of Outlook and then go back in after it closes successfully, maybe wait a minute, allow outlook.exe to close out in Task Manager.
Go back in, add Items back in again, reference list, if possible from the SharePoint Lists tab, if deleted more than one.
    That worked for me!
