  • SharePoint Foundation 2010 - StoreMan.aspx page not reporting proper metrics

    The configuration of my farm:
Sharepoint 2010 Foundation - up to date on all service packs.
SharePoint Offers an Application Page (_layouts/storman.aspx) which enables the user to view the Size usage of files throughout a Site collection.
Currently this page is only referred from within the Site settings. Only those with owner rights can get to the link.  We are planning to set  up the link on an "Admin Dashboard page" so all users can see and use the information to delete
versions or uneeded documents. It's very handy for this type of reporting.
The problem is that the numbers shown in the .aspx page do not properly reflect the values shown in the libraries. I'm sure the timer job that runs this report is looking at all versions throughout the portal (even in the recycle bin). This is where I see
the innacuracy I'm experiencing.  Is there a way to get Storageman.aspx to only run on the files in libraries and ignore the recycle bin? Does anyone have any ideas of how to give users more accurate data on file sizes? Our storage is locally hosted and
we adhere to a strict data usage policy, yet I'm finding it difficult to enforce without the ability to show users where the "problem children" live.

  • Issues with Office Documents in Sharepoint Foundations 2010

We recently upgraded to Sharepoint Foundations 2010 from Sharepoint V3.0.  When I did the install of Sharepoint Foundations 2010, there was no mention of Office Web Apps in the Technet article.  Now when our users try to open a document from Sharepoint,
then make changes and try to save back by just clicking on the "Save" button, they get an error stating that the upload failed or that the document is open in "Read Only".  After searching for a month for an answer, I believe I need
to install Office Web Apps for Sharepoint but have yet to find an article that explains how to do it.  I've found the articles on 2013 but not 2010.  The article on 2013 asks that I do things in the Sharepoint Foundations server but when I follow
them, the options are not there.  If anyone has any experience adding in the Office Web Apps to Sharepoint, I would sure appreciate some assistance.

    Hello,
    You should ask on the
    SharePoint forums.

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you got the promote issue when clicked the documents in the library of the SharePoint foundation server.
The issue may be caused that the Kerberos authentication is misconfigured, you can change to NTLM to check whether it works.

  • Can not access Central Administration in SharePoint Foundation 2010

    Hi,
I have installed SharePoint foundation 2010 in Windows 7 machine. I can able to login into Central Administration. I can view Main page. But I can not enter into even any one setting. If i click any link i am getting login page again and I entered same Username
and Pwd. its asking again and again .
For example if i click Manage "Web application" link the login page comes again and its not getting my Username and Password. Some times its showing Access Denied Error.

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you still got the login prompts in the Central Administration.
You can use the following steps, then check whether it works.
Open Internet Explore. Go to  Internet Options -> Security -> Local Intranet -> Sites -> Advanced ,and add your central admin url.
    You can also disable the
    loopbackcheck as below.
Click Start,      click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
In Registry Editor,      locate and then click the following registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa
Right-click Lsa,      point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
Type DisableLoopbackCheck,      and then press ENTER.
Right-click DisableLoopbackCheck,      and then click Modify.
In the Value      data box, type 1, and then click OK.
Quit Registry Editor,      and then restart your computer.
    For more information: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/896861
In addition, you need to enable automatically login on Internet Explorer if you use NTLM authentication.
For the full conditions must be met for Internet Explorer to automatically authenticate a user's logon and password and maintain security, see

  • Sharepoint Foundation 2010 calendars not linking to Outlook 2013

We have been using linked calendars between SharePoint Foundation 2010 and Outlook 2010 for some time. I have upgraded a few users to Outlook 2013 and now cannot link the SharePoint calendars. are there any known compatibility issues?

    Hi,
According to your description, my understanding is that the calendar in SharePoint Foundation 2010 cannot sync to Outlook 2013.
Did this issue occur with all the calendars?
I recommend to create a new calendar to see if the issue still occurs.
Was there any error when you sync the calendar to Outlook 2013?
If yes, please provide the error message for further research?
    Best regards.
    Thanks

  • SharePoint Foundation 2010 Workspace problem

I've installed sharepoint foundation 2010 in a Windows server 2008 R2 standard environment. I've added some site collections and added some libraries to the site pages. Ive put in various permissions and groups and tested no problem using
Sharepoint workspace 2010 on a Windows 7 32 bit client.
But when I do a remote desktop connection to another server with 2008 R2 standard installed I can't get Sharepoint workspace 2010 to work properly. It opens an account and connects to my sharepont site but in the pane to the right where I would normally
see library documents listed all that comes up is an error stating - Error: Cannot Display Tool.
Also if I try to sync I get the following error:-
    The parameter is incorrect
    HResult: 0x80070057 (0x386d7565)
    Process: Groove.exe (ID:17936(0x00004610))
No amount of googling has found a solution, no similar postings had any resolutions.
Any help would be much appreciated

My apologies. I'd focused on the error and hadn't adequately read the information you provided on the environment. The issue is probably with using SharePoint Workspace on the remote computer, not with SharePoint Foundation.
Here is what I understand you to be doing:
You use Remote Desktop to connect to the Windows Server 2008 R2 computer, where you log in with your domain account, which is a member of the local Users group.
On the remote computer, you start SharePoint Workspace.
On the Launchbar, you click New, click SharePoint Workspace, select your site, and then click
    OK.
The workspace is created and appears (from the progress bar) to download content.
When you click Open Workspace, no content is displayed. Instead, you see the "Cannot Display Tool" error.
    Is that correct?
There are three areas where SharePoint Workspace is complicated to run remotely:
Where SharePoint Workspace will be run by a user other than the one installing it, it must not be lauched during the installation. This seems the most likely to be the issue, as we have seen the same failure and error at a customer site where several
users had been given a computer image created on a computer where SharePoint Workspace had been launched before image creation.
Only one user should run SharePoint Workspace (Groove.exe) at a time. (Sometimes multiple instances work, but it's not reliable.)
You need to have a local profile on the computer which is running SharePoint Workspace. SharePoint Workspace is not supported with Roaming or Temporary profiles. Usually, this problem would prevent you from starting SharePoint Workspace, but some
environments with custom permissions can lead to other errors.
SharePoint Workspace uses the current user's permissions for SharePoint server access, In the case of Forms-Based authentication, it prompts for credentials at workspace creation, but then uses the credentials in the active browser session when opening
the workspace. I think this could only be related to your problem if you are logged in as another user in your browser, and that user has access to some, but not all, of the site your workspace connects to.

  • SharePoint Foundation 2010, hotfix install fail "An error occurred while running detection"

    Hi all,
I am having a lot of trouble installing hotfix 2849990 on my server. After running it shows the error "An error occurred while running detection". I tried another hotfix as well but got the same result. I read on the web to do a "repair"
but I cannot seem to access that. I attempting to run the install to get there, I click "Install SharePoint Foundation" a new window begins and I can see a new window open that reads "Please wait while setup prepares the necessarily files"
Very shortly after this opens, it then closes and nothing else happens.
    Anybody have any suggestions?
    Thanks!

  • SharePoint Foundation 2010: search error: "Your search cannot be completed because of a service error."

    Hi,
I have SharePoint Foundation 2010 running on a single server with databases, with a second server in the farm serving as a 2nd app tier. Both server have the exact same versions of SharePoint loaded (according to the Central Admin site).
Whenever I try to run a search from any site in my SharePoint Foundation 2010 installation (in this example I typed "this is my query"), it hangs for 20-30 seconds while the IE status bar says:
    Waiting for http://SERVER2010:80/tfs/SITE1/_layouts/searchresults.aspx?k=this%20is%20my%20query&u=http%3A%2F%2Ftfs2010db%2Ftfs%2FSITE1
Then it finally returns a results screen with an error that says: "Your search cannot be completed because of a service error. Try your search again or contact your administrator for more information."
Checking the SharePoint logs under C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\LOGS, the relevant entries say the following (items I deem important
    bolded):

Not sure what "resource limit is reached" actually means. This SharePoint installation is running under regular SQL 2008 R2, and the
WSS_Content database is fairly small (10gig). I've reviewed the Search Service, the process account running it, the
WSS_SEARCH index database, and verified that the Content database is using the proper index database. Everything looks like it should be crawling/indexing/working fine. But the WSS_SEARCH
database isn't very large, so I'm not sure if the crawling is actually filling it with anything.
Not sure where to start seriously troubleshooting this. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi,
The query ran in tens of seconds. This indicates that at some point a bad plan compiled and stayed in the cache.
It may have gotten there because the statistics were out of date.
A possible way to keep this from happening is to rebuild statistics with full scan more frequently.
Try free the proc cache and see the result.

  • Sharepoint Foundation 2010 Workflows created in Sharepoint Designer

Using Sharepoint Designer 2010 (64 bit) on Sharepoint Foundation 2010 (free version)
I'm trying to get some basic workflows I've designed against a list in SPD working. They effectively just email a user the list item is assigned to based on some simple conditional checks.
I've deployed the workflow and its set to activate on item creation and item update.
Now I have checked the following already:
    - App pool for SP site is running under its own service account (not System)
    - I am the primary site collection administrator.
I'm getting this error in the log file: Unexpected
AutoStart Workflow: System.ArgumentException: The requested workflow task content type was not found on the SPWeb.
On further research it was suggested I didn't have OffWFCommon as a feature but this isn't part of Sharepoint Foundation 2010 so I'm pretty confused. The directory doesn't exist to install this feature.
Can Sharepoint Foundation 2010 actually use workflows created in SPD?
Any solutions or anything I've missed?

    Hello,
Approval WF template is not supported in foundation so use collect data from user WF in designer.

  • Reg:: SharePoint Foundation 2010 site Migration

    Dear Techys,
I have a scenario regarding SharePoint 2010 Migration, Please guide me for below one.
I'm having SharePoint Foundation 2010 sitecollection, and I would like to move the sitecollecton from Foundation to Server farm. I mean SharePoint Foundation 2010 to SharePoint server 2010 environment.
    Many Thanks,
    Madhu

    Hi,
The easiest way is content database attaching approach when the following conditions are fulfilled.
If you do not have the custom developed stuffs such as (web parts, workflows, event receivers and any other business logic involving in dealing with web services or assemblies.)
If your SQL Build version and Cumulative updates /Patches on the server is higher and identical respectively.
On second scenario where you have some custom stuffs on your server that need to be updated along with server edition, then you need to move this (assemblies, workflow related xml files if any) on first and then use SharePoint Power Shell Command site backup
and restore on your target server.
Before doing this, take copy of your old server's web.config and web application related IIS configuration files to cross verify any of the migrated stuffs missing or get well informed about exception occurred on backup/restore and migration process.

  • Problem connecting to external SQL table using BCS in SharePoint Foundation 2010

    Hi all,
I am working on SharePoint Foundation 2010. I have a requirement wherein I need to connect to SQL in some other server.
I used BCS to create external content type and then I created an external list. now when I try to view the list on browser it says "Login failed for the user NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGIN".
I am using "User's Identity" for authentication with SQL.
How can solve this issue. Please help.
    any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

That sounds like you might not be using Kerberos and/or your Kerberos authentication isn't working to pass your credentials.
As you may know there's a limitation with NTLM permissions that prevents something known as the 'double hop'. This is where a server (SharePoint for example) tries to request things on your behalf. With NTLM you can't do this at all, the alternative is to
use Kerberos which can handle double hops. One thing to know about Kerberos, if it's not completely set up right then IIS and SharePoint will almost always revert to NTLM so it's easy to think you've enabled it only to discover it's failing and you're really
    using NTLM.
This guide will take you through setting up Kerberos in painful detail, it's great:

  • How do I set up OCR on PDF's to integrate into Sharepoint Foundation 2010 on my SBS2011 Server?

I'm going to give an overview of my situation, and what I need to accomplish as a final goal.
I am administering a small network for a local firm.  We are running Windows Small Business Server 2011 (Windows Server 2008 R2, and Sharepoint Foundation 2010) and 6 new Windows 7 workstations.  We have a network copier installed in a central
location, which is the only place we get incoming scans.  When we scan, we currently choose which desktop is our destination, and each user retrieves their scans independently, and does as they wish.  Each workstation also receives PDF's through
    email.
We need a solution which would allow us to use our scanner and send to a single location for all incoming scans.  Then have that location OCR the scans into readable PDF's, and have those PDF's transferred to a folder on our Sharepoint Server.
We also need the same ability from incoming emails, or any existing PDF's we have.
This needs to be an extremely user friendly role on the client side, being as the users are not computer literate.  If there is a button in outlook that says Send to sharepoint, and it automatically sends them to the OCR server, which forwards them
    into Sharepoint that is perfect.
Our current server (i7-2700k, 32gb ram) is already slow with everybody on sharepoint and using the library.  If there is software that can install on it and be directed to run the batch in the off hours, we can use the existing server, otherwise
I believe we will need an OCR scanner, being as the processes are CPU intensive.
Thoughts, ideas, what do I do?!... Our budget is less than $4000 and Windows Server skill level is 5/10.  1/10 being a complete n00b, 5/10 being as I got this thing setup entirely having never done it before, knowing only what I know from years of being
a PC repair tech.  For this reason, I prefer an option with a company supporting it.

    Hi,
Maybe a 'little' too late, but you could use Udocx
for this. With this application you get the same buttons to scan to SharePoint folders on the scanner and the pc, making it very user friendly.
Processing the scans/emails/documents to searchable PDF files is done in the cloud. This makes the documents accessible almost instantly, instead of having to wait till the off hours. There's no need to install software, and our solution is easily within
your budget. Furthermore, you can benefit from our in-house support.
Take a look at the Udocx website: www.udocx.com
    Cheers

  • Issue with SharePoint foundation 2010 to use Claims Based Auth with Certificate authentication method with ADFS 2.0

I would love some help with this issue.  I have configured my SharePoint foundation 2010 site to use Claims Based Auth with Certificate authentication method with ADFS 2.0  I have a test account set up with lab.acme.com to use the ACS.
When I log into my site using Windows Auth, everything is great.  However when I log in and select my ACS token issuer, I get sent, to the logon page of the ADFS, after selected the ADFS method. My browser prompt me which Certificate identity I want
