SharePoint Foundation 2013 - Multi-tenant Install and OneDrive for Business with Yammer i

Hello,
After installing SP Foundation 2013 (SP1) with Partitioned service applications we have noticed that while clicking on the "yammer and oneDrive" link the below error message comes up:
_admin/yammerconfiguration.aspx
any ideas??
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn659286%28v=office.15%29.aspx
we have also noticed that MS mentioned "OneDrive for Business with Yammer integration doesn’t work for multi-tenancy or partitioned service applications for on-premises deployments"

To me it seems SharePoint social networking features require the full SharePoint Server product AND are not available with the free SharePoint Foundation, If correct then why MS punching it here in Foundation without a friendly error message..

  • Sharepoint 2013 and Onedrive for Business

    Hello,
I need help with understanding Onedrive and have few questions. It would be nice if someone can help me with this:
We have Sharepoint 2013 Enterprise and we will use OneDrive for Business with it. Now how is the user adminsitration works? Do I have to create new users or I can user that accounts from Active Directory? Everything is stored in SQL database.
Today users have home folders and is it good to replace it with OneDrive?

    Hi,
When we use the OneDrive or OneDrive for Business, we should first understand the differences between them.
OneDrive for Business is a personal library intended for storing and organizing your work documents. As an integral part of Office 365 or SharePoint Server 2013, OneDrive for Business lets you work within the context of your organization, with features such
as direct access to your organization’s address book.
OneDrive for Business is online storage intended for business purposes. Your OneDrive for Business library is
managed by your organization and lets you share and collaborate on work documents with co-workers. Site collection administrators in your organization control what you can do in the library.
However, OneDrive is free online personal storage that you get with either a Microsoft account or Outlook.com. Use OneDrive to  save
documents, photos, and other files in the cloud, share them with friends, and even collaborate on content. You’re free to decide how you want to use it.
NOTE    In the header or elsewhere on your SharePoint or Office 365 site, ‘OneDrive’ appears as an abbreviation of OneDrive for Business to keep things simpler.
If you use the OneDrive, we don’t need create new users, and we couldn’t use the AD account . OneDrive use the Microsoft account or Outlook.com.
For more information, you can have a look at the following article.

  • Mess with accounts in OneNote and OneDrive for Business - can't open documents from Office 365

    Hello!
    [Reposted from
    here]
I've got Office 365 subscription (E3) with Office.
I can view and edit OneNote notebooks on Office 365 via browser, but can't open it in OneNote.
The similar problem exists for OneDrive for Business - some libraries are syncing, some cannot - asking for Enter credentials, but when I click - nothing happens.
There were two accounts bound to Office 2013 - personal Microsoft ID as primary account and corporate Office 365 linked to it.
Windows 8.1 corporate profile is linked to Microsoft ID account as well.
Something happen with these accounts after password was changed - it seems like some account information was cached and can't be cleaned.
I tried to uninstall Office and install it - no success.
    I cleaned computer with
this utility from Support - no luck.
On other Windows 8.1 computer I created new profile (with Microsoft ID account) - surprise, there are problems there as well.
I deleted all Office15 entries from Credentials Manager - Office asked me about Office 365 login/password - I entered them, it is syncing, Haliluja, but, when Microsoft ID account was linked to Office 365 account in Office - problem appears again.
It seems that Office 2013 uses Microsoft ID credentials for Office 365 content.
I'd like to use Microsoft ID as primary account for Office and link Office 365 account to it, but don't want such problems. It worked fine, but I don't know what happened and how it can be analyzed and fixed.
Update: It seems I localized the problem, but still don't know the solution.
Scenario to reproduce error for me:
    1. Create fresh new Corporate/Domain user profile on Windows 8.1 with Office Pro 365 installed on computer with latest updates
    2. Go to SharePoint Online and browse some Libraries and OneNote notebooks - all ok
    3. Start to sync them using OneNote and OneDrive for Business - ok
    4. Link Microsoft Account with Corporate Account in Windows 8.1 - ok
    5. Syncing of _some_ (not all) Office 365 libraries and notebooks stop working - errors with access, permissions. I'm trying to enter credentials but this doesn't help
    6. Disconnect Microsoft Account and Reboot - all libraries and notebooks of Office 365 work fine again. But OneNote notebooks from OneDrive stop working :)
How I can fix this situation and have Microsoft and Corporate account connected?

    Update 2:
I installed PowerShell for SharePoint online cmdlets and found this user using get-SPOUser.
I removed this user using remove-SPOUser -site
    https://mysitename.sharepoint.com -LoginName
    [email protected]
but when I'm trying to access sharepoint from the browser with Microsoft account credentials - new record for this user is created again and I can see it with get-SPOUser :(
So, problem is still not solved - this user is still can be authenticated (there is no such user in SharePoint site collection, there is no such user profile) and Office 2013 syncing doesn't work for Office 365 due this mess with accounts.
I know that I can remove Sharing with external users from Site Collection and information about these users will be permanently deleted - but I don't want to do this, there are several customers who work with our documents.

  • Sharepoint Foundation 2013 is not Installing on Window 7

When I click on 'Install Sharepoint Foundation" 2013 nothing happen. Same is issue with "Install Sharepoint Foundation Pr-Requisite"

SharePoint 2013 does not support being installed on Windows client (Windows 7 or 8). Instead, try using a Virtual Machine running a supported Server OS. You can use VMware Player (free) on Windows 7, or if you have Windows 8 Pro or Enterprise, Hyper-V.

  • How to set up Sharepoint Online and OneDrive for business like shared path in local network

    Hi!
I need to create in OneDrive for business or Sharepoint Online shared folder with documents that would be visible to all selected employees or all employees of the selected group.

  • Absence and Vacation Tracking in SharePoint Foundation 2013

We upgraded from Sharepoint Foundation 2010 to SharePoint Foundation 2013. The absence and vacation template no longer works. Does anyone know of a free replacement?

We ended up just creating a workflow that emails the necessary information whenever an item is added or changed to the list. Doing this avoids the default notification email ("A task has been assigned...") altogether. It is also much more straightforward
than using "if then" and "what if" type statements.
We found this webpage to be a good starting point to creating both the list and associated workflow:
    http://camerondwyer.wordpress.com/2013/04/17/implementing-a-simple-sharepoint-issue-tracking-system-with-cc-style-notification-emails-when-items-are-updated
To automatically add approved vacation days to a calendar:
    1. Open the list
    2. Click Create View, then click Calendar View
    3. Name the calendar, set time intervals, etc.
    4. Set "Show items only when the following is true" so that Vacation Request Status (or whatever you chose to call it in your list) "is equal to" "Approved" (or whatever you chose to call it).

  • Reports for Sharepoint Foundation 2013

The farm consists of two servers :
server01 : SharePoint Foundation 2013 Web Front End and Application Server
server02 :SQL Server 2012, hosts config and content databases
I need to create some basics reports and pivot tables reports with totals or calculations using lists from
multi-sites of a single Collection. How ca I do that ?
    Thanks for help.

The easiest way to do that would be to use PowerPivot and Excel Services.  But those are both features that aren't available in Foundation.  You would need to upgrade to SharePoint server.  I don't know of any way to do pivot tables in SharePoint
without Excel Services which requires SharePoint Server.

    SharePoint Designer 2010
    SharePoint Designer 2013
    Microsoft PowerBI Designer Preview
and this is installed on Win 8.1 Enterprise
Kind of stumped what is causing this... I see KB2920798  mentions this error message is now added when cant open a document due to a mix of click-to-run and MSI install for office.  I only have click to run for Office 2013 and the MSIs are only for
addons in excel (power query) and the additional Microsoft Software...
Anyone have ideas what is causing this and how to resolve?
I just finished applying March 2015 C2R updated on Office and the same issue recurred.  This time I simply rebooted and it resolved.  My best guess is it has something to do with a locked file that can't be updated but the Office Update installer
    doesn't prompt to reboot.

I have the same problem. But I have Czech versions of the Word and OneDrive for Business ("OneDrive pro firmy").
I do not have the SharePoint Designer nor update KB2020798. I received KB2920746
on 11th February (plus other updates for Office, but any other for OneDrive for Business). Anyway,
uninstall of the KB2920746 doesn't help.

  • Help! Windows Explorer crashes regularly when using "SharePoint" directory synced with OneDrive for Business

We are using SharePoint 2013 and I want to sync document libraries with
OneDrive for Business with my PC running Windows 7.
In general, it works, but my Windows Explorer crashes very often (after a few minutes) when I navigate in the synced directories and open files there (or copy files into them in Windows Explorer).
How can I find out what happens and how to avoid it?
    remark:
We are still using Office 2007, so I installed only OneDrive for Business from the Office 2013 DVD and
deactivated all other components like Office 2013 by hand:
(so for example, the shared office feature or MS Info Path etc. were not installed)
Is there a crash log, where I can find more information about the crash?
Does OneDrive maybe need other components to be installed and can I install them without damaging my existing Office 2007 setup?

Did  you check your Event Viewer for any errors during the time when Windows Explorer crashed?
    Thanks for this hint!
The Log file says the following, so it seems to be WIDCOMM\Bluetooth Software\btncopy.dll
to be responsible for the crashing Windows Explorer

  • OneDrive for Business sync prompts for ODfB client install

Working with a client that has installed Office 2013 ProPlus on an image that is being deployed. Users currently logon to their computer with a local account (Active Directory in process of being deployed).  User is "migrated" and begins
to logon to Active Directory.  User now logs on to the O365 portal and accesses their OneDrive site, not yet populated with documents.  User clicks "sync" and is prompted to install a OneDrive for Business client, even though it has
already been installed as part of Office 2013 ProPlus.  Install proceeds and Internet Explorer closes.  Once install has completed, user logs on to O365 portal and attempts to sync OneDrive.   User is prompted again to install the appropriate
    client.
I have tried clearing IE cache, launching IE in InPrivate mode and using Chrome.   Same behavior.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    [email protected]

    New fun behavior noted:
New behavior.  Similar scenario:   User logging on to PC with a local account.   Office 2013 ProPlus, including ODfB is installed.   User is NOT currently using ODfB.  Using Word
2013, Excel 2013, PPT 2013, Outlook 2013 ( connecting to Office 365 mailbox) and Lync 2013 (connecting to Lync Online) are being used by the users.  Users machine is joined to a domain, User local account profile is migrated to domain profile.
User logs into PC with domain account.  ( Matching the Office 365 account, typically [email protected] ).  User logs into Outlook and Lync with no issues.  User logs into the Office 365 Portal, selects OneDrive, and selects Sync.
"Sync this library to your device for easy access" window appears.  User selects Sync now..  User is presented with "Sign in  Call us overprotective, but we need to verify you account again before opening "https://realgoods-my.sharepoint.com""
windows.  User enter his email address and clicks Next.  User is then presented with "Sign In" windows and enters User ID and password.  User is then presented with the "Overprotective" window.  This happens 3 times
until user gets "We cannot connect to the specified SharePoint site." error message.
IE browser cache has been cleared.  Steps have been followed to clear all document cache files.  sharepoint.com, microsoftonline.com, office365.com have been added to the Trusted Sites zone and added to IE compatibility list.
Any clues on this one as well????

  • Office OneNote 2013 working with OneDrive for Business

M$ is going to be the death of me.
So here's what I have Windows 8.1 Pro with Office 2013 Pro with OneDrive for Business with our own SharePoint 2013 environment running on a tablet.
I open this lovely OneNote Product and all it asks me is to sign into my M$ Account, I don't want to use my M$ account I want it to just open and allow me to create a new notebook...  It just asks me to sign into my M$ account.  I don't want to
    do that.
So I got into my SharePoint document library, click New document, create onenote document, open it and OneNote prompts me to log into my M$ account....
I don't want to use my M$ account, I want to use my OneDrive For Business and the SharePoint 2013 environment we've paid thousands of dollars for...
Another funny thing I found is, OneNote 2013 for Mac, works with OneDrive for Business?!?!  On Windows?  NOPE!
    Am I missing something simple?

  • Office 2013 applications crash when opening/saving files in OneDrive for Business folder

    My setup:
    Windows 7 64-bit
    Office 2013 Professional
OneDrive for Business (connected to Office 365)
    Issue Description:
    Example 1:
    1.  I create a file in OneDrive for Business using the appropriate web app (Excel web app, for example).
    2.  I edit the file in the web app, I save the file in my OneDrive for Business
    3.  I sync OneDrive for Business with it's local folder
    4.  Now I open the folder in Windows Explorer and double-click the Excel file
    5.  Excel splash screen shows up for a bit, and then Excel crashes
    Example 2:
    1.  I open Word on my Windows 7 laptop
    2.  I start from a blank document and create some content in the document
    3.  I use the Save As option under the File menu to save the file to my local OneDrive for Business folder
    4.  As soon as I click the Save button on the dialog, Word crashes
The same happens with all the Office applications.
    Important Note:
If I run the above examples with Excel/Word in SAFE mode, there is absolutely no issue.
What have I done so far?
    1.  I have made sure that the DisplayLink driver is the latest version from the manufacturer
    2.  There is no bluetooth send-to add-in in any of the Office applications
    3.  No add-ins are enabled in any of the Office applications (not sure if there are "stealth" ones that are not visible in the Options/Add-Ins dialog?)
Any assistance with this would be much appreciated.
    JeHarry

    Hi JeHarry,
Because I didn't have Windows 7, I did a test with Windows 8.1 based on your description. However, in my testing, everything worked well.
Please repair your Office under Control Panel, compare the result.
