why when we open an excel or word using chrome and firefox browser it wants to download the file.
It can be opened in browser using IE but not in firefox or chrome?

I tried Peggy's List > Select All > Copy > Paste into an AW spreadsheet suggestion.
In my case, pasting into the spreadsheet lost all text formatting (mostly text set to bold). The results of formulas were pasted, and checkboxes were pasted as "on" or "off". The DB did not contain any pop-up menus or radio buttons, but I expect they would transfer as a number showing the list position of the chosen item.
Pasting the copied List view data into a Numbers table gave a result similar to that with AppleWorks. I selected B2 as the target cell (for top left cell of the pasted data) to avoid any effects of posting into a header row or column. Bold and regular text formatting looked the same as it had in AW's List view.
Based on that, I'd slip the 'paste into an AppleWorks Spreadsheet step, and paste directly into a Numbers Table.

When I was using SharePoint foundation 2010, I am using IIS for audit log. That can logging user name and what they clicked.

DPX files can be opened in 1.0.2 but not in 1.0.4

I have about 4000 DPX files that I can open on my copy of Color 1.0.2 at home, but not on my copy of Color 1.0.4 at work. They were exported from Cineform NeoHD on windows.
Shake also seems to reject them, but After Effects has no problem with them.
Any thoughts?

Can you read the header in the home COLOR version and then what does the work COLOR report when you attempt to navigate to them directly in the Setup Shots?

PDF Portfolio will open in IE, but not in Firefox or Chrome

I have a PDF Portfolio linked on my site. I can open it fine in IE (version 9), but it will not open in Firefox 21 or Chrome 27. When I click on the link, I get the message "For the best experience, open this PDF portfolio in Acrobat X or Adobe Reader X, or later." Even though I can open it fine in IE and I know I already have the correct version, I click on the link/button to download now. It says it installs successfully, but I still am unable to open it in the two browsers.
Any advice is appreciated!

I used to be able to click on the maximise button (upper right corner) and then drag a firefox page from one monitor to another--I can still do this with other browsers but not with Firefox.

Viewing PDF Portfolio using Adobe Acrobat XI Pro in Sharepoint Foundation 2013

When opening a PDF Portfolio, created using Adobe Acrobat XI Pro, in Sharepoint Foundation 2013 the pages are blank in the default Layout view but you can see the contents in File view. How do we correct that so the files appear in both views? Local IT stated it is an ADOBE problem.

SharePoint Foundation 2013 Web Analytics

Problem:
I am using SharePoint Foundations 2013 (no patches) and trying to get Web Analytics working but running into difficulty. The error I am getting is the dreaded, "A web analytics report
is not available for this site. Usage processing may be disabled on this server or the usage data for this site has not been processed yet.", when I click on Site Settings -> Site Web analytics reports
Items completed:
Enabled Site Usage and data collection in Central Admin.
Logs are full of data in the hive
I can see the data in dbo.requestusage in the WSS logging database.
Possible problem is that Web Analytics has been deprecated in SharePoint 2013 however why would Microsoft have Web analytics link if it was deprecated.
Question:
How can I get Web Analytics to show data or has it been completely removed from SharePoint Foundations 2013 and the link is just there for frustration?

No. You can't. Windows 8 is not supported by default.
You will need a server OS to install SharePoint foundation 2013.
You can run a Hyper-V virtual machine on windows 8 though. And can install SharePoint on that. This does require more resources.

Unable to copy paste from a popup that is part of a specific software. I can do this in IE, but not in Firefox

We use BMC Remedy (ITSM) to track our work and it has a popup for the expiry date for each ticket. When I click on the link, a box pops up with the information, everything except the expiry date can be highlighted, but it is the expiry date that I need to copy. I can copy this info when in IE, but not in Firefox. We are not allowed to install anything on our computers directly from the internet.

You are using a version of Firefox that is 10 versions behind it's supported version. It is not safe to use on the internet. Please either update to Firefox 30, or contact your company's IT department for an update.

Using Office Web Apps Server with SharePoint Foundation 2013

I want to know whether I can configure Office Web Apps server to edit Excel documents on a SharePoint Foundation 2013 site.
I came across a TechNet article that states that "When used together with SharePoint Server 2013, Office Web Apps Server provides updated versions of Word Web App, Excel Web App, PowerPoint Web App, and OneNote Web App".
However, later in the same article, it states "If your organization licenses Office 2013 through a Volume Licensing program, you can enable Office Web Apps editing for SharePoint 2013 on-premises" (without mentioning Foundation or Server).

SharePoint Foundation 2013 - Can we use the foundation for intranet portal with high availability ( medium farm)

Today I had requirement, where we have to use the SharePoint Foundation 2013 (free version) to build an intranet portal ( basic announcement , calendar , department site , document management - only check-in check-out / Version).
Please help me regarding the license and size limitations. ( I know the feature comparison of Standard / Enterprise) I just want to know only about the installation process and license.

Is load balance service also comes in free license... So, in that case I can use SharePoint Foundation 2013 version for building a simple Intranet & DMS ( with limited functionality). And for Workflow and content management we have to write code.
Windows Network Load Balancing (the NLB feature) is included as part of Windows Server and would offer high availability for traffic bound to the SharePoint servers. WNLB can only associate with up to 4 servers.

Restrict Which Users Can Enter Data In List Form in SharePoint Foundation 2013

Is there a way to restrict which users can enter data in particular fields in a list item entry form?
We are using a SharePoint Foundation 2013 list and calendar to manage vacation time. We need to restrict non-supervisor users users from entering a value in a certain field in the vacation request form.
Here is how the system works now:
1. Employees complete the vacation request form (which creates a list item)
2. An email is sent to their supervisor to either approve or decline the request
3. Approved requests are automatically entered onto the vacation calendar
We have restricted the list so that only supervisors can edit items (the pending vacation requests). The problem is that all users can mark their own requests as approved when they fill out the request form in the first place. Is there a way to restrict
which users can enter data in particular fields on a list item entry form?

Thanks for the suggestion. We ended up 1) hiding the approval column and 2) creating a second list, workflow, etc. The user no longer sees the approval column when filling out the form. Requests are now submitted to list A. Workflow #1 copies the request
to List B, then deletes the item from List A. Once the request is added to List B, Workflow #2 emails the user that the request has been received and emails the supervisor that a request needs to be approved. Only supervisors have editing permissions on List
B. Approved requests are automatically added to the vacation calendar (the calendar view of List B).

SharePoint Foundation 2013 - March 2014 Update Issue - Need help

We've just applied the SharePoint Foundation 2013 March 2014 Update, it always requires that we run the SharePoint Products Configuration Wizard at the end of install, but this time it's getting stuck at step 9 of 10 (the profile sync service cannot be
started even as admin). Is anyone else having any issues with this update? Has anyone else applied it yet? Is anyone else planning to apply it?
