SharePoint performance counters for publishing cache

Hi,
I add some performance counters for publishing cache to my Windows performance monitor. The total values are filled but for specific site's they stay empty. Any ideas?

I have dedicated VM for SSAS.
I would like to collect performance data (CPU, RAM etc...)
What are top 5 most important performance counter for SSAS? (PERFMON)

    Hi ,
Every Counter has there own use and significance and most important will depend on your requiremnt like whta you exactly want to Monitor.
Apart from above ; The most useful counters here would be in the MSASXX:Processing group, Rows read/sec and Rows written/sec, which will give you an idea of how fast SSAS is reading data from the data source. As a general rule you should
expect to get 40-60000 rows/sec from SQL Server, and if you're getting less you should try to tune the database you're getting data from rather than SSAS itself. Partitioning measure groups in SSAS and processing partitions in parallel is also a good way of
    improving processing performance.

to link these two components together (requiring knowledge of NT internals and
    such) .
You may wish to contact a third-party vendor that provides J2EE black-box monitoring
and collection software. Most allow for "offline" analysis, too.

  • Performance counters from nginx, Varnish Cache and Elastic Search on Linux

Hi, we would like to monitor our few Linux devices with SCOM 2012 R2. The OS counters are working well, but we are running on Linux the applications nginx, Varnish Cache and Elastic Search from which we need the performance counters as well. Are there any
Management Packs available to read the data from these applications?
Thank you very much for any hint.

I'm not aware of any pre-built management packs for the applications you have listed.
While you could build your own management packs using OpsMgr's management pack authoring capabilities, if your monitoring needs are fairly straightforward, you could create some shell scripts to retrieve the information you want (for both health and/or performance),
and then use the Linux/UNIX script monitoring wizard in the OpsMgr console to create the monitors you want.  Creating the monitors/rules is super-easy once you have the shell scripts.

  • Since applying Feb 2013 Sharepoint 2010 CUs - Critical event log entries for Blob cache and missing images

    Hi,
Since applying the February 2013 SharePoint 2010 updates, we are getting lots of entries in our event logs along the following:
    Content Management     Publishing Cache
    5538     Critical
An error occurred in the blob cache.  The exception message was 'The system cannot find the file specified. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070002)’
In pretty much all of these cases the image/ file in question that is reported in the ULS logs as missing is not actually in the collaboration site, master page / html etc so the fix needs to go back to the site owner to make the correction to avoid
the 404 (if they make it!). This has only started happening, I believe since feb 2013 sp2010 cumulative updates updates
I didn’t see this mentioned as a change / in the Fix list of the February updates. i.e. it flags up a critical error in our event logs. So with a lot of sites and a lot of missing images your event log can quickly fill up.
Obviously you can suppress them in the monitoring -> web content management ->publishing cache = none & none which is not ideal.
So my question is... are others seeing this and was a change made by Microsoft to flag a 404 missing image / file up a critical error in event log when blob cache is enabled?
If i log this with MS they will just say, you need to fix it up the missing files in the site but would be nice to know this had changed prior! I also deleted and recreated the blob cache and this made no diffference
    thanks
    Brad

I'm facing the same error on our SharePoint 2013 farm. We are on Aug 2013 CU and if the Dec CU (which is supposed to be the latest) doesn't solve it then what else could be done.
Some users started getting the message "Server is busy now try again later" with a corelation id. I looked up ULS with that corelation id and found these two errors in addition to hundreds of "Micro Trace Tags (none)" and "forced
    due to logging gap":
"GetFileFromUrl: FileNotFoundException when attempting get file Url /favicon.ico The system cannot find the file specified. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070002)"
"Error in blob cache. System.IO.FileNotFoundException: The system cannot find the file specified. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070002)"
"Unable to cache URL /FAVICON.ICO.  File was not found"
Looks like this is a bug and MS hasn't fixed it in Dec CU..

  • Error installing Oracle Counters for Windows Performance Monitor

    Hello,
I have installed Oracle EE 11g 11.2.0.1.0 on a Windows 2008 R2 server. Now, I am using the Oracle Universal Installer to install the Oracle Counters for Windows Performance Monitor 11.2.0.1.0
    Source path is D:\Share\11gR2_win32_11gR2_database_install\database\stage\products.xml
    Installation Type is Custom
    Install Location is C:\app\dmadmin
    Path is C:\app\dmadmin\OraHome_1
I de-select all product components and select the following two:
    Oracle Windows Interfaces 11.2.0.1.0
Oracle Counters for Windows Performance Monitor 11.2.0.1.0
    I get the following error:
OUI-10150:Error: A runtime exception occurred while setting s_digCfgNamingLabelSIDnull in component Database 11g 11.2.0.1.0 . Installation cannot continue for this component.
I am given the choice of Stop installation of all products and Stop installation of this component only which both result in non-installation of selected component.
Does anyone have any advice or solutions for this error? I have tried re-booting the server, but get the same error.
    Thanks for your assistance,
    Stumped

OUI from ORACLE_HOME (OH\oui\bin\setup.exe) cannot be used to install components from 11.2.0.1 installation media (products.xml)
This is documented, but I am not able to locate it now.
Have you checked if the Performance Monitor files are already installed or not?

  • WMI Class Reference for Dynamics CRM Performance Counters

    Hello,
I am trying to monitor a MS Dynamics CRM 2013 instance using the
    Performance Counters provided.
I will be writing VB Script to collect the performance counter data via WMI.
I couldn't find out the WMI class reference the Dynamics CRM 2013 performance counters.
What I meant was, some thing similar to the 'Windows Server Cluster' Object and Performance counter class, as given below.
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa965285%28v=vs.85%29.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396
    Help me on this.
    Regards,
    Krishna.

    Hi David,
Sorry for posting in the wrong forum. Will correct it in future.
I can't use the Perfmon as I have a java application which will call the VB Script periodically to collect the data. I need to write both VB Script and Powershell scripts. I need to have the class reference to understand the data type of each attribute in
    a performance counter. For ex,
The 'CRMAuthentication' counter has the following attributes.
    Caption
    ClaimsAuthenticationAttemptsInTheLastMinute
    ClaimsAuthenticationFailuresInTheLastMinute
    Description
It is necessary to understand the datatype each attributes in the all Performance Counters.

    Krishna.

  • Performance counters missing for single database

    Hi,
Performance counters are missing for a single catalog within my sql server instance.  I can see all the counters I expect to see, but in the list of instances, one catalog is missing.
For example, the "Data file size" counter is not available for this catalog.
I have tried unloading and reloading the counters as per various articles, but it made no difference: the catalog remained missing.
The catalog was created a week ago, but is completely standard.  In addition, I have created other catalogs in the same way in the past 3 months without this problem.
How can I resolve this?  It is a problem because we have 24/7 counter monitoring, which is now turned into 24/7 email alerting about counters missing...
    Thanks for your help,

    Hello,
I did the same, new DB is listing for me :)
Steps I followed are as below:
Using an elevated administrator command prompt perform the following steps.
Change the path to the BINN directory of the SQL Server instance you desire to correct.   (Ex: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10.SQL2008\MSSQL\Binn)
    2.       Execute unlodctr  <<REGISTERED SERVER NAME>>    For
    example: unlodctr MSSQL$SQL2008 or SQLAgent$SQL2008, …
Execute lodctr /T:<<perf-sql* matching the counters you desire to load>>    For example: perf-MSSQL$SQL2008sqlctr.ini or perf-SQLAgent$SQL2008sqlagtctr.ini
for SQLAgent, …  The /T is important to load the SQL Server performance counter provider as a trusted provider.
Cycle the remote registry service  net stop "Remote Registry" and net start "Remote Registry"
Force a WMI synchronization using   winmgmt /resyncperfctr "<<PID>>"  where PID is the process id of the WinPriv.exe (you can get this from Task
    Manager)

  • ISA Server 2006 + Average response time for Non Cached requests = performance issues?!?!?!

    All,
I am in a predicament with internet browsing speeds...We have a 3rd party look after our line and internet facing f/w  so I cant troubleshoot them, so at the moment Im looking at ISA as the potential bottleneck - we have a fairly standard environment:
    Internal > Local Host > Perimiter n/work > Firewall > Internet
I have been running custom reports on the ISA server to see what data can be collected - I have noticed that "Average response time for non cached requests" (traffic by time of day) can be as high as 76 seconds!!!!!! Cached hits are between .5
    and 2 seconds.
I have also coonfigured a connectivity verifier which is also flagging slow connectivity, massively over the >5000ms and also reporting "cant resolve server name on occassions- and this is configured for
www.Microsoft.com --- DNS ???!?!, however I have looked through DNS (no obvious errors / config issues) which I can see
I have run the BPA on ISA server to ensure its Health - - connectivity verifier errors flagged timeouts to microsoft.com as expected...
Can anyone advise any obvious areas to investigate as Im struggling! - as always the 3rd party have told us the internet pipe is fine :O

    Problem resolved.
DNS forwarders have been changed on the ISA server / DNS and this has improved lookup speed considerably.
    thanks all :)

  • Performance issue - BO Publisher 6.5

    Post Author: fionas
    CA Forum: Publishing
    Hi,
We are using publisher 6.5 to burst customized BO reports to users in PDF format. We have five full client reports which are configured in five different publications. Each publication will send the customized report in PDF format and each publication will send more than 1000 reports at a time. We run all the five publications one by one using publisher (BA). So every time we burst more than 5000 reports using publisher 6.5. The publisher sends the first 600 to 700 reports quickly of each publication. After that the performance of publisher comes down and it takes very long time to send the remaining reports. So we need your advice on this.
Why the publisher performance comes down after sending some number of reports? How to improve the performance of the publisher? (As a work around we split each report into two, so that each report will send approx 500 reports and we run the publisher ten times (5 X 2) instead of running it only for five times. This requires extra effort)

    Hi,
How is the database server operating system coping in terms of CPU load and memory? and what is the db data cache hit ratio in ST04?
I would look into the following things, network configuration between database and central instance, and the load on the DB server cpu load/memory and possibly the most important the DB2 memory and configuration instead of focusing on the SAP application server in case of high DB times.
Please be aware of the fact that tables in upgrade from 4.6C to ECC increase from about 30000 to 60-70000 and db tuning is the most likely explanation for your problems.
