SharePoint Server 2010 can't connect to the Configuration Database

Hi Techys,
I have  a SharePoint Server 2010  Farm, and I have Installed SharePoint SP1 package,
Then I,m trying to run the SharePoint configuration wizard, That time i have the below error.
"Can't connect to the Configuration Database"
I have checked all the services belongs to the sql server and SharePoint server.
here i found, SharePoint Timer service is automatically Stopped while browsing the Central admin url.
Please help me to resolve the above issue.
Many Thanks,
Madhu

What you mean error in Config wizard, could you please share the complete error log?
For Timer Services, check under which account it is running and check event log why its stoped?
for CA error there are couple of possible reason for this:
Make sure SQL related instances / services are running fine.
Make sure your farm admin account have permission on config DB.
Make sure Config Database Exist.
Make sure you can connect to SQL server from your APP /WFE.
If everything is running fine, then you may need to reconfigure the sharepiont products and technologies configuration wizard. The issues might be because of the update that might have installed some additional components for installation.
Please remember to mark your question as answered &Vote helpful,if this solves/helps your problem. ****************************************************************************************** Thanks -WS MCITP(SharePoint 2010, 2013) Blog: http://wscheema.com/blog

    Hi all,
In advance i`m thankful for your help,
I come across a problem while migrating the Active Directory from Windows Server 2003 to Windows Server 2008 R2,
SharePoint 2010 is getting this error Cannot connect to the configuration database. The same goes for the Administrative page,
Nothing is change in the MySql database, same log in, same server name, i guess it have something to do with the SharePoint Farm,
My question is will reinstalling the SharePoint do the job? Or is there an easy way to get back on my old track?
I`ve try to sync users... no good
    PS C:\Users\administrator.SERVERM> if($configManager.IsSynchronizationRunning()

Can someone explain a little bit more about this:
    6.
Can they talk to each other?
Verify that SharePoint is using the correct IP address for the SQL server. To do this, run the ping command on the Windows SharePoint Services server.
Verify that the SharePoint server is obtaining the correct IP address for the SQL server from DNS. To do this, run the
nslookup command from the SharePoint Server.
Make sure that there are no incorrect entries for the SQL server. To do this, examine the Hosts file on the SharePoint server. This file is in the following location:
    %systemroot%\system32\drivers\etc\Hosts
On the SharePoint server, look for SQL client aliases. To do this, follow these steps: Click
Start, click Run, and then type cliconfg in the
    open box.
Click the Alias tab. By default, there are no SQL client aliases. If you have any aliases for the SQL server, verify that they are correct, or remove them.
Open the SQL Server Configuration Manager (Start SQL Server 2008  Configuration Tools  SQL Server Configuration Manager
Navigate to the SQL Server Network Configuration  Protocols for MSSQLSERVER node in the tree view
Enable TCP/IP and Named Pipes (you’ll be warned that these changes will not apply until the service is shut down)

    Hiya,
I don't think it is necessary to reinstall.
You should just confirm that your basic infrastructure is working.
1: On the SharePoint server, open cmd and write ping <SQL server name>
2: On the SharePoint server, open cmd and write nslookup <SQL server name>
Basically the steps outlined here, is the best way to start:
    6.
Can they talk to each other?
Verify that SharePoint is using the correct IP address for the SQL server. To do this, run the ping command on the Windows SharePoint Services server.

  • Cannot connect to the configuration database when App Server is down

    Hi,
We had a App Server not come up after a restart.
When trying to access a site we get
the "Cannot connect to the configuration database"
We have now started the App Server and everything working again...
My problem, there are 2 WFE servers with NLB Configured apart of the App Server ....Why wont the site work and why cant i connect to config DB?
Something must be misconfigured? Sites should be connecting to the WFE servers and work if App server is down.
Yes, NLB Points to the WFE Servers.
Any ideas where i can look? This is a Project PWA Server, not sure if that will make a difference but the root SharePoint site had the same issue.
    Thanks

    Hi Danie,
is it possible that the SQL Server is running on the same box as the SharePoint (application) server? This would be the only thing that can explain the symptoms. Please check following:
IP address of the SharePoint Application server by typing nslookup AppServerName on the SharePoint WFE in Command Prompt (cmd.exe). Replace
AppServerName with the FQDN of the application server, e.g. appserver.domain.local
IP address of the SQL server by typing nslookup SQLServerName on the SharePoint WFE in Command Prompt (cmd.exe). Replace
SQLServerName with the FQDN of the SQL server, e.g. sqlserver.domain.local
SQL Server alias configuration by checking the entries in the cliconfg.exe on both SharePoint WFEs
In most cases, SQL server has nothing to do with the SharePoint Application server role and it is stored on the separate box. My guess here is that the farm started as one-server farm setup and over the time got expanded by additional 2 WFEs, moving
Web Server roles from the initial server, leaving it with the application role (service applications) and SQL server on the same box.
But, I am just making an educated guess here. Can you provide some additional information?
    Hth,
    Aleks

  • Cannot connect to the configuration database

I tried to configure my server with active directory after I have successfully configured sharepoint . For a mistake , they made me delete the active directory and now when I try to connect to the admin section or site page it me give the following error :
"Cannot connect to the configuration database"
Deleting the active directory ; I noticed that all the other users have disappeared and the service : SQL AGENT ( Sharepoint ) not run and the error is :
" This installation of SQL Server Agent is disabled. The edition of SQL Server that installed this service does not support SQL Server Agent." Thank you for the Help

Was the active directory server that you removed the last active directory server in the farm?  If so then your only two real choices are to rebuild everything from scratch or restore everything from backup.
If it was just that you were trying to make the SharePoint server into a Domain Controller, then I still think you may need to rebuild. But you can try re-adding the SharePoint server to the Domain.  It may have lost its Domain membership when you removed
AD from it and gone back to being a standalone server.

I've solved the DW problem by changing the site folders from
'db' to 'wwwroot' e.g. 'C:\CFusionMX\db\' is now
    'C:\CFusionMX\wwwroot\
However I'm now back to my original problem. I've lost my
mqysql connection in CF Adminstrator. Before I made these changes I
could connect to my mysql databases using the following settings:
    JDBC URL: jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/test
    Driver Name: MySQL Connector J
using the following Java path and file:
    C:\CFusionMX\wwwroot\WEB-INF\lib\mysql-connector-java-3.0.17-ga-bin.jar
Now these settings give me the following error:
"Connection verification failed for data source: javaserver
    []java.sql.SQLException: SQLException occurred in JDBCPool
while attempting to connect, please check your username, password,
    URL, and other connectivity info.
The root cause was that: java.sql.SQLException: SQLException
occurred in JDBCPool while attempting to connect, please check your

Any suggestions on this would also be welcome.

    Hi.
Are you sure you're using a Windows server which support Terminal Services? In other words, try (on the Windows server) by escaping to the CMD prompt and issue the
    netstat -n
command as to see if port 3389 is listed in LISTEN state.

  • Pb to connecting to the demo database

    hi ,
    i'm newbie :)
i have just installed TimesTen with demo ,
i can't see how can i connect to the demo database in the command line (i'm on Linux)
what's the name of the demo database ?
    thanks for help
    :)

Y.Brunet, I can not be as sure in my words as you are, since I don't know how other companies and programmers solve these problems, but I cannot easily accept your advice to code dates as Strings.
In our company's projects everywhere in DB handling code we use PreparedStatements because AFAIK they provide better performance than CallableStatements if frequently used. Also they provide abstraction level - why should I know how the f!@# the Database expects dates/int/float/String... in SQL statements?
We use several DB servers - M@SQL, Access, Oracle, Ingres - they all handle dates in different way(not to mention that in most DBs date format is customizable). But code written for one server works on others (most of it, of course) because of this level of abstraction.
Let's leave the driver format the stuff as the DB expects and concentrate on the real work - pass correct values, perform logical checks, improving performance.....

  • SharePoint 2013 - Server Error in '/' Application - This operation can be performed only on a computer that is joined to a server farm by users who have permissions in SQL Server to read from the configuration database

    Hi
After I ran SharePoint configuration wizard successfully to upgrade to SharePoint 2013 / SP1.
I can open Central Administration site just fine.
but now when I open any Site collection,  I got this error.
    Server Error in '/' Application
This operation can be performed only on a computer that is joined to a server farm by users who have permissions in SQL Server to read from the configuration database. To connect this server to the server farm, use the SharePoint Products Configuration
Wizard, located on the Start menu in Microsoft SharePoint 2010 Products
I have restarted all the servers:  SQL server, WFE and APP servers but still cann't get this resolve.
Services on all servers are running,  IIS - application pools are running.
Can someone help with where that could be a problem or if there is a solution.
Thanks in advance for your comments or advices.
    Swanl

    Please verify the followings:
Make sure that from the SharePoint front end and application servers that you can ping your SQL server.
Make sure that your Farm account has permission to the configuration database.
Lastly verify that your database didn't for some reasons go into recovery mode.
once everything is fine and you are still having issues, restart the SQL host service on the SQL server.
Once the service is restarted you will need to reboot Central Admin and then your front end servers.
In addition, as you built your farm inside the firewall, please disable the firwall, or create rules for SQL Server service in the firwall on SQL server.
More information about creating rules in firewall, please refer to the following posts: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/c5d4d0d0-9a3b-4431-8150-17ccfbc6fb82/can-not-create-data-source-to-an-sql-server http://www.mssqltips.com/sqlservertip/1929/configure-windows-firewall-to-work-with-sql-server/

  • I am Facing problem with "Send to connection" in SharePoint Server 2010.

    Hi all,
I am working on SharePoint Server 2010
I have a site collection and sub sites in it.
I want to move the document form one site library to another site library.
Since it can be done by configuring, Send to connection in Central Admin.
I activated Content Organizer rules in both the sites.
I added new connection for one site and append the url
    /_vti_bin/officialfile.asmx
I tested the url on clicking
Click here to test link it gives me message that
"URl is a Valid routing Destination".
and finally I added the connection
After configuring this I open the other site and uploaded a document in it and after uploading the document I selected send to
option and clicked on my connection what I created in central admin.
But it gives me error: The site could not be found or accessed
     Please help me for this...
    Thanks in advance..

    Hi,
In my case, I'm routing an InfoPath form (After having approved) to an archived Forms Library within the same sub-site.
I created Send To connection, setup Content Organizer rules, setup Record Retention policy on the source Forms Library, but even after running both the Timer jobs (Information management policy and Expiration policy), the document didn't get moved to the
    archived library.
I checked under Compliance details of the form that the Scheduled occurrence date shows 'Completed' i.e. the Information management policy timer job did its task, but the other Timer job didn't move this form.
Then I tried sending this form manually using Send To. In that case, although the form got moved to the archived library, but I see 'Unexpected error' on the screen.
    The ULS shows following entries:
<nativehr>0x80070057</nativehr><nativestack></nativestack>Invalid data has been used to update the list item. The field you are trying to update may be read only.Possible mismatch between the reported error with code = 0x8107210c
and message: "Invalid data has been used to update the list item. The field you are trying to update may be read only." and the returned error with code 0x80070057.

Can somebody tell how manual Send To is working within the same site collection.
    Any help will be appreciated!
    Thanks!

  • Did not find the PerformancePoint Services in sharepoint server 2010

    Hi Friends,
i have just installed the sharepoint server 2010 in my computer. i want to use it to make scorecards. but i did not find the Performance services in Central administration (services on server)
anyone can help me with this?
    Qearl

PerformancePoint services are available only if you have installed Enterprise edition of SharePoint. If you have installed Standard or Foundation, then PerformancePoint is not available.

  • Does the CreateFirefoxOnWindowsPlugin JS function works in Sharepoint Server 2010

    Hello,
    I read the plug-in documentation of FFWinPlugin Plug-in (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff407576.aspx ).
This article specifies that this applies to Sharepoint Foundation 2010 but
does it also applies to Sharepoint
    Server 2010?
    Thank you.
    Kind Regards

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you want to use FFWinPlugin Plug-in in SharePoint 2010.
Per my knowledge, the CreateFirefoxOnWindowsPlugin JS function works in Sharepoint Server 2010.
Here is a similar thread for your reference:
    https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/280bf2b2-fe35-4d46-94cf-168f5b387fde/configuring-ffwinplugin-to-enable-firefox-integration?forum=sharepointdevelopmentprevious
In addition, I recommend that you can use IE Tab in Firefox.
For more information, you can refer to:
